incredibly based analysis of zeon, i adore the 3rd wave zeon remnants (i.e. sleeves), they are genuinely so much more interesting than the federation ever could be for that time period in UC

​@@skeeter5076 the sleeves despite having the most n*zi/wermarcht aesthetic are probably the most justified of the Zeon/Neo Zeon insurgency forces. No colony drops or gassing (unless they do some in narrative which I haven't seen) and they're pretty much just fighting for political power outside of Earthsphere. The federation government is extremely corrupt at this point, and as we can see it gets even worse by uc 105, so these remnant forces do feel like a more noble precursor to Mafty.

It's hatred. Why else would they do stuff like going back to a MS that's already been mission-killed just to kill the pilot when he can't fight back. A bunch of cowards stroking their bruised egos by attacking newbie pilots. And what happens when actual veteran Feddie pilots show up? The Zekes get folded like an omelette. Hell the Byarlant Custom, driven by a test pilot no less, bodied no small portion of their force.

It never ended because Sayla didn't sign her name to it. In Theory. In reality, the war never ended because the Zeon soldiers WOULDN'T let it end. After all of their war crimes, wiping out more than 5 BILLION people in two weeks, the overwhelming majority being Spacenoids not Earthnoids. Zeon ultimately killed only a few hundred million Earthnoids, but wiped out well north of that 5 Billion Spacenoids. There were only a 2-3 Billion people on Earth at the time of the One Year War. By the time it was over, there was around 1 to 1.5 billion upwards of 2 billion left depending on pre-war population's actual count. So by overwhelming contrast, Zeon butchered mostly Spacenoids. Gassing their Colonies, Nuking their Colonies, and Dropping their Colonies. Quite a few Colonies were even literally blasted to pieces by the Zeon Space Navy using just their ship cannons. Imagine being in a Colony that is literally being torn apart by Heavy Naval Cannon Fire and there's literally no escape. You're only hope is the shelter somehow survives and the Federation will find a way to reach you and rescue you. Assuming the Federation even suspects you're alive. Or can even reach you before you die. As such, given over 20 years of war crimes centered around Genocide, Zeon Remnants and Neo-Zeon forces COULDN'T surrender as they COULDN'T otherwise justify the wars and atrocities. Only by literally killing these soldiers to the last, could the war be stopped.

Robin Diaz - officially a Federation mobile suit mechanic. But in reality an ex-Titan pilot that hid his affiliation after the Titans were disbanded. It's one of the reasons he knows how to use that thing.

In my opinion he's also one of the reasons why that battle wasn't even more bloody for the federation, Zeon's initial attacks were actually to take out the federation Ace machines and possibly their pilots before they could board any machines at all. The fact that the tri Stars and the byarlant were active was devastating to the Zeon Remnants

Energy weapons in it's infancy wouldn't be compatible with underwater warfare while regular powder weapons are gas operated wouldn't be able to generate the pressure needed to cycle rounds. Torpedoes are viable but take up space where harpoons and the like can be re used

@@robertcole3247 "Energy weapons in it's infancy wouldn't be compatible with underwater" Funnily enough, the first beam weapons in UC were made especially for aquatic suits, becuase of water cooling. Beam weaponry works fine down there. The reason the Feddie suits have harpoons is because they're old, and the Federation is cheep.

Main reason is that making specialized suits and weaponry for various climates is not cheap and takes time. Zeon planned complete domination in all kinds of Earth's areas and made various units and prototypes to achieve that. Federation was pressed for time and focused on heavy mass production all purpose units with minimal adjustments. When they pressed back the invaders, they had no urgent need to make expensive aquatic-only suits for few ragtag remains of Zeon spread all over globe. Most normal weaponry for ground and space operations were less than ideal under water though so here come crappy harpoons. As for beam weaponry of Zeon, it was designed specifically for it's environment. It was why initially Gundam was unprepared with it's beam rifle not being able to shoot. Not to mention Amuro did not have dedicated staff for his upgrades.
