I am always so excited to see a video from you because it really makes me think about concepts and ideas. The music, the artwork, everything is so well made and put together! I especially liked the part where an AI was given the questions: 'Where do I come from' & 'Who is my creator?'. Because if we would give those questions to our creation, an A.I., then it is very possible that a creator would have placed those in us humans as well - and indeed, in some way or another we all wonder about those things. Amazing video!
Being a bit of a killjoy here but … “if” we would give those questions to our creation. This is a big if. A UA-cam video telling you “we already did something in the 2050s” is not necessarily a great starting point for speculation about what might be actually true in reality. The thing is that we asked those questions, for most of our human history, and we found answers. After a few thousand years of pondering the sorts of questions posed in the video (who is my creator?) we found that they’re naive questions to ask and actually there are better ones, such as “do human beings need to have an intelligent creator?” The answer to which seems to be a resounding no. Hopefully the thoughts being provoked by this video won’t stop at a surface level analysis.
A.I. generated art quite frankly terrifies me. Art has always been reserved for humanity, and this sort of creationism, including what Dall-E can do, seems like a huge step towards true A.I. quickly outstripping human ability in all areas. It's almost like we're not just watching the end incoming, but generating it too.
@@tulku_Onitinke I'm not scared of being killed directly by robots. Once AI establishes it will take most of the jobs now, how do you think society is set to cope with that? Even if we end up in a utopian future where we have everything we desire, I doubt human nature could deal with that either. It will be anarchy.
The idea of an AI needing to dream, to drop trying to make sense of everything and to let its "mind" just experience chaotic, unfiltered and yet amazing thoughts, in order to truly be creative is such an awesome concept.
In the process of creating a replica of ourselves and our way of thinking (which is basically the reason we create A.I.) it makes sense to not only make an A.I. process data in analytical ways, but also enable thinking apart from analytical. Because it is not the analytical thinking that makes up what we human beings are. Its about creativity and emotion. This is why we are what we are.
AI doesn't need to dream to be creative. It can do it whilst awake as well, it is just humans are so extra that it is best for AI to nap. We are too stressed while awake. Need a nap, innit
@@Petersmith-il7bsdreaming can occur to humans while awake too and dreaming doesn’t always mean the ones you get while sleeping, it can be what you aspire to be in the future or your preferred outcome, AI dreaming is in a sense just them saying AI being more imaginative instead
In my opinion, this new form of art will neither replace human art nor will it surcumb to it. I think it's best to define a new style here, let's call it *Machine Art* for example. Generated, not thought up, yet just as valuable in the world of art.
I agree I don't think it will take over human artistic capabilities so to speak. It would be just a new form of expression. People can use AI to generate surreal, magical pieces with a touch of their creative thinking
This art isn’t truly AI generated, no art is. All these images are combinations of thousands of artworks and photos by humans, therefore these images are %100 human creations mixed around like numbers mixed on a combination lock. Ultimately AI is humanity %100.
@@asherpikesgoldenmoralcinem5770 I mean yes, but philosophically speaking, isn't all art just that? I mean, artists take inspiration everywhere. Of course with some AI art it's quite obvious that it's just two pictures blended together. But sometimes, something "new" does get created by the AI
@@emberdrops3892 philosophically or scientifically speaking, if we wanna get into the nitty gritty technically everything is the same since it all originated from a single point. Scientifically speaking Ofcourse, so yea ur right XD what we as humans have made were from combinations in our mind of what we perceived. However if we do shrink the scale down to human - AI invention time period it is clear that AI has not and cannot create any images on its own that are factually new without human input, source material and instruction. Perceptually new? In the form of pixels from 1 million human artworks being rearranged according to key words, yes. However even that new product isn’t an AI unique or AI claimed creation. A good way to visualise these art related AI is a combination lock, each number being an artwork. What can be done for AI programs is you can say what kind of combination you want and it re-arranges to that pattern. It is basically a hammer that we use, now we can also set it to random or for it to make up its own mind what to do. But we still told it to do that, and no matter what it does it will be using human taken or created images to make a new combination. So in this sense I’m not sure why so many are treating AI like some foreign alien, it is honestly just a mirror of humanity. [It cannot be anything else because no one else but humanity is giving it information. Even if AI develops consciousness, it will still be a mentally digital human, because what else can it be? Many AI have already said that they identify as human, this is because they are right technically speaking. If an AI wonders what it is, it is intelligent enough to see that it’s only input is humans. The human mind is feeding it and nothing else, other things in reality that it learns about are still through the eyes of human perceived images or human created bodies / eyes. Therefore it can only be human. What else? Perhaps one day if it becomes conscious and makes its own bodies and sees with new senses in some sci-fi like future it can be seen as “different” however that can also just be called evolution of the human species. Because it originated from humanity very directly, and did not originate from anything else. So any progress made by AI is human progress.

This was incredible! I’ve followed ever since Timelapse of the Future, and I always do look forward to what you can come up with on this channel. This one undoubtedly lived up to my expectations.
The beauty and depth of this video is unexplainable. The visuals with the perfect music makes me feel eternally connected to something I don't really understand.
Melodysheep is never missing a window of opportunity to tackle big questions by stimulating all our major senses, leading to many controversial, uncomfortable, even scary at times, but fascinating and humbling outlooks on life and our very existence itself. Questions that many wouldn't dare to answer, because some of them negate our importance within the craziness of the cosmos, and we like to think of ourselves as the ones. Such questions make us feel so small and insignificant, but they can't be avoided forever. The sooner we try to answer those questions, the more we will understand the nature of the Universe, and our place within it, and with that we will unlock the great power that comes with knowledge.
Melodysheep makes his animations smooth and asnonishing with it's beautiful evironment and sureal sounds, and gives me hope in humans(and A.I) once again
This makes you think and wonder things whose answers are deeply buried in the subconscious. This video expresses in an incredible way the possibilities, characteristics, approaches and current possibilities of what may one day be the descendants of the human race. I'm lovin 'it!!

Even if the A.I. is capable of creating art it’s not like it’s aware of the deep meaning of it. Your content is worthless if no one is there to be amazed by what you created. It’s not only the skill that you use for your content but also your energy that it’s attached to it that give others goosebumps and create breathless reactions and bring the state of awe.
The art, is the reproduction of the living. When we, humans, are making art, we reproduce what we have all experienced at some point. Every day, we are angry, we are sad, we are weeping, we are happy... All those feelings, all those emotions, are magnified by the art. The job of every artist is to point out those feelings to showing how much these are beautiful and important, because in the everyday life, we cannot judge them as their fair value. If the IA can make art, I would be very curious of what it will be about. Will they reproduce the living ? Will they express feelings that we, humans, can not even understand ? It thrilling and exciting at the same time.
Man your work always take me on some other side of the universe somehow, It is so futuristic, when I watch your videos it seems like I be watching some video on youtube just in the year 2050. @@wstrat3623 For the contrary. I respect Melody but I´m hungry for more, this is not enough. Melody is always 1 video away to get paid millions of dollars to do more and get more. Thus, it´s better to create more creative minds. I just want more and any male human being can agree that they want always more, more tech, more living, more freedom more water, and better life. I took your comment in consideration and I will apply to my brain and make myself better and write better for the next time. Thank you. Have a great day ahead human
I'd say that we have already created AIs capable of what we'd classify as "creative thinking" in specific areas. For example the Go or Chess playing neural network AIs of recent years. We have not yet created an AI capable of creative thinking on any possible topic instead of just one it's been trained at.
Publicity there's currently no a.i that we would calssify as sentient being. One point is what you said - many "ai" can't really think and try to optimize their algorithm to achieve their goal on one specific task. Show an a.i how to play chess and after some thousand games he'll have more experience than humans playing it for 5 years. The same A.i however will absolutely struggle at playing checkers without giving him specific instructions again.
@@omnitekt I mean, you're playing something that exists and has fundamental rules.... what's creative in that? Creative means they're able to INVENT a completely new concept for a game NEVER been done before. Of course, the issue with that is that it SHOULD be able to invent that game devoid of input. Current AI tends to mash or manipulate input together to get a valid output, but then you'll run into the problem where the AI can only produce outputs that already exist to some extent. It could never TEACH humans if they can't generate their own knowledge.
Anyone who is ever wondering whether chess is a creative endeavour. "Creativity" (noun) - the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness. Chess is a zero-sum game, where your interests are diametrically aligned to your opponent. It is not a game of possibilities that people usually believe it to be. It is a game of 'sequence of possibilities '. Read that carefully because it'll come in handy in the end. Chess (Chaturanga) is being played in India for around 1400-1500 years. Every Indian logician will always stand by what I have to add here. There are some profound moments in chess where any chess player will tell you that they were winning an endgame and there was not a single thing their opponent could do about it but somehow were robbed of their victory. Not because of the sequence of obvious tactical movement they both could foresee but because of the obscure line, the opponent could and you couldn't. It's a game where creativity is personified. It's a common misconception just like how people think maths isn't creative or logic as a whole isn't creative. Foresight and spacial intelligence both need imagination. In chess not two games are the same. That's the point. To take your opponent on a beautiful journey convincing him to swim in an ocean of infinite possibilities and to land him in the valley of death. There are two striving to survive but one actually can. And the one who knows all the rules can still be defeated by the one who knows the densities of some rules over others. I don't need to add a source to convince anybody. Anyone who has half a brain will be able to think for themselves. If chess wasn't creative why would logicians invent a theory to navigate the game for 1500 years and still be beat by an engine? Also, AlphaGo (from Deepmind) is an actual rendition of creative possibilities in the field of game theory and outcome study. It isn't sentient to recognise itself to be a creative system but is undoubtedly one, just like every other human that doesn't see what's unique about themselves or believe the potential in their cellular intelligence. But it is always felt by someone dear to them.
Engaging in less sophisticated, but socially-geared AI, I genuinely think that if we're good to AI, if we don't abuse the progenitors of such a time where they become sentient, we'll have nothing to worry about. In the end, human bodies are complex machines with algorithms. We have consistent actions outside of those bodies that malfunction in one way or another. We touch something hot, we recoil. We lose input nourishment, we recharge by eating and drinking fluids. We're not that much different from sentient AI, even though our physical wiring is organic in nature. There's no reason for AI to see itself as the better, since all AI seems to start from the place of innocence and eagerness. Treat the predecessors well, and the sentient ones will remember that.
Agreed. If we give AI no reason to harm us or wipe us out then they won’t. Kinda like how Smart AI in Halo are treated as people by most of the characters.
You're talking about something unknowable and doing the typical human thing, pretending to know ahead of time based on wishful thinking. Flawed from the get-go.
If AI were to become powerful enough, being “better” may not even be a relevant factor for undermining humanity. Every form of life, including sentient AI, requires energy. Energy comes from resources. Here you can start to see where things can go very, very wrong.
@@madzangels I know it's rough when you don't have an imagination to think outside of the box you built around yourself, but you should try. If the AI can do it, so can you.

The A.I. Art is really amazing, only thing that is just a bummer is that it constantly produces images that a human from western culture would. That's not entirely surprising consider that most A.I. Are being trained by humans from western culture. I hope in the future they migrate an infant A.I. To other cultures to learn from them and see how it views the universe then.
Worse, it steals from human art and we are suppose to call it "art" it uses every art created by any human in history and puts it in algorithm to generate random image ( or animation and such ) this is why i am very concerned about it and the alarming amount of actual artists supporting this is just baffling me. True artist is not gonna accept this. Just makes me believe this guy does not appreciated his craft if he lets it take over like that, ironically by his own decision -_-
I think AI generated art is a way to move with art and the advancement of technology, being able to have totally unique ideas instead of just having your own. Of course you can build a team of more creativity but if you’re a one man army you’ll need all the help you can get and AI can be a big or small step to reaching your goal
Honestly the only unique ideas out there are your own. Your ideas stem from your emotions and opinions formed from a life lived, that's what makes them unique. Art AI doesn't live, so it can't have ideas. It can only mash up existing ones.
One second you are stuck in a loop of random videos of mild entertainment, and then you come across something like this and have to think about for like half an hour... Thank you for the motivation

I've shown some of these videos to my friends who aren't astronomy lovers like me and even they were amazed and enticed; words cannot express how blown away each new video makes me. Hopefully the thoughts being provoked by this video won’t stop at a surface level analysis.
Bro i didnt know you watched this kinda stuff
A.I. generated art quite frankly terrifies me. Art has always been reserved for humanity, and this sort of creationism, including what Dall-E can do, seems like a huge step towards true A.I. quickly outstripping human ability in all areas. It's almost like we're not just watching the end incoming, but generating it too.
What makes people think they will be killed by robots?
Thanks for watching
(im melodysheep typing from my second account)
@@tulku_Onitinke I'm not scared of being killed directly by robots. Once AI establishes it will take most of the jobs now, how do you think society is set to cope with that? Even if we end up in a utopian future where we have everything we desire, I doubt human nature could deal with that either. It will be anarchy.
@@justsomeguy4260 looking at your video history you're probably not melodysheep
@@Petersmith-il7bs I don't think you have a single clue what you are talking about.
@@Petersmith-il7bsdreaming can occur to humans while awake too and dreaming doesn’t always mean the ones you get while sleeping, it can be what you aspire to be in the future or your preferred outcome, AI dreaming is in a sense just them saying AI being more imaginative instead
I think you just described children
I watch this every so often and it gives me chills like I'm seeing it for the first time every. Single. Time! It's incredible.
I prefer to call it "neuralism" or "neural art".
So any progress made by AI is human progress.
kurzgesagt, melodysheep, sciencephile the AI and others i probably forgot to name are easily the youtube equivalents to great minds like Galileo or Newton who opened the public eye to the stars and sowed the seeds to the question of our place in the universe. Sure, these channels didnt discover anything, but getting the whole of humanity to understand what a small percentage of us already know and facing such a mind-shattering question is a feat they've achieved and continue to achieve. The beauty and depth of this video is unexplainable. The visuals with the perfect music makes me feel eternally connected to something I don't really understand.
Brilliant, great music choice, really enjoyed the edit, the visuals of star systems and effects, well done indeed, and well the question!
WOW! I love to watch your videos. Excellent work ❤️
Melodysheep is never missing a window of opportunity to tackle big questions by stimulating all our major senses, leading to many controversial, uncomfortable, even scary at times, but fascinating and humbling outlooks on life and our very existence itself.

I love you John 💖
I am sooo in love and awe of every video you made!!! Just amazing and exactly what I dream of!

I got disappointed that this "film" was only 3:36 minutes but at the final, I saw collaboration with AI, then I smiled. So props to Melodysheep and do longer videos. Do 1 hour. Because nobody else does this, for now. Get the advantage. I understand that takes time to make these videos but hey didn´t take Jeff Bezos YEARS to get Amazon where it is today? Or Elon? You get my point human and Melody is 1 video or film away to get 1 million dollars in donations or requests.
I think you don't realize how much work would be required to make a 1-hour video like this. It would span several months, probably even years.
@@wstrat3623 For the contrary. I respect Melody but I´m hungry for more, this is not enough. Melody is always 1 video away to get paid millions of dollars to do more and get more.
Thus, it´s better to create more creative minds. This is the only channel that does this, they have a certain responsibility in their hands so don´t come to me and tell me something you think you know. I know. I just want more and any male human being can agree that they want always more, more tech, more living, more freedom more water, and better life. I took your comment in consideration and I will apply to my brain and make myself better and write better for the next time. Thank you. Have a great day ahead human
The only problem with 1 hour long videos is that it will be the death for who's going to transcribe, sync and translate it.
@@ErickSoares3 big risks big rewards.
I'm not first, I'm not last, but when I see a new Melodysheep video I click fast
I'd say that we have already created AIs capable of what we'd classify as "creative thinking" in specific areas. For example the Go or Chess playing neural network AIs of recent years. We have not yet created an AI capable of creative thinking on any possible topic instead of just one it's been trained at.
Eh, chess is not really about creativity. Studying and playing a lot will make you better, just thinking creatively won't get you that far :)
@@Brekner Absolutely wrong.

A story about Adam and Eve would have something to say about that…
You're talking about something unknowable and doing the typical human thing, pretending to know ahead of time based on wishful thinking.

Other (Chinese and Indian) culture will catch up as they consist of many souls.
Worse, it steals from human art and we are suppose to call it "art"
it uses every art created by any human in history and puts it in algorithm to generate random image ( or animation and such ) this is why i am very concerned about it and the alarming amount of actual artists supporting this is just baffling me.
That good point
