Good stuff mate. That is one of the first places I took my kayak many years ago and was my favorite spot for quite a while. Might be time to go back and re-acquaint myself with the locals!
Definitely worth a visit Rod. Some fish did not make the highlight reel, including a monster jack which I coaxed out of the trees on light gear, only to lose it right beside the kayak due to a stupid rookie error.
Nice mate ive caught some fish in here too, but just learned about the fecal matter levels in the water from the plant behind those yellow signs at the start of the vid, turned me off it a bit.
Damn! I catch and release anyway, so it does not worry me too much. The kayak gets a good rinse as you head out towards the mouth, so it’s all fine. I think that creek can cop a bit of nasty run-off, so I certainly would not eat anything I catch in there. Great spot for a real mix of species though...
@@ianm6204 I'm unsure to be completely honest but after I fished it I checked what was behind the sign after finding lots of bait around the bubbles and that's when I learned there's a big sewage and drain water cleaning facility.
I tend to fish when I can, as life seems it interrupt the best bite periods :) The last couple of hours of the run-in and first couple of the run-out as most productive, but fish seem to ruin the best-laid plans and don't always play ball. If I had the ability to be on the water at peak times, that would certainly be my aim.
@@TheRoastontoast well I went down and fished this spot off a hire kayak (50 bucks for 2 hours!!) during this tide time and had 3 flatties and got busted off by a fish I couldn't stop! Biggest went 55cm
@@aaronrushton1 Tough luck on the dropped fish, but I bet it was exciting anyway! There can be some monsters in that system, but I still prefer fishing light and taking my chances :) I don't think you can beat a kayak in creeks of this size, as some of the narrow sections fish really well and a larger boat could spook a fish. There are heaps of opportunities when you go really deep into the system, if you ever get a chance to have another crack. Instead of hiring a yak, keep an eye open and you may grab a bargain from marketplace, or one of the many kayak groups on Facebook etc. Feel free to give me a yell if you need any help.
@@TheRoastontoastexactly only had 6lb leader on so taking my chances but fishing light is so much fun I have a Hobie Revo 13 back home that I plan to get shipped over some day. I got it second hand for a steal so would be worthwhile paying the $$$ to ship but if a Hobie comes up for
@@aaronrushton1 6lb is perfect.... I hope you get back onto a Hobie soon. The Revo is the speedster of the fleet, but I love my Outback. My PA14 360 ain't bad either, but the Outback is still my favourite. You've got some great fishing locations on that side of Brissie, so you're toughest choice is deciding which one is best on the day!
Great Vid Troy, excellent job and enjoyed every minute
3 Rods & a Yak Thanks matr. You’ve set the bar too high for me though 😂😂
Nice vid mate Cabbage certainly produced a good variety of species and as always appreciate the company 😁🍻🎣

Nice video Troy looks like there are plenty of fish in that creek mate
Thanks Dean. It is under-rated by many, but certainly worth a visit.

The sewerage outlet discharges further into the bay south of here near Nudgee Beach doesn’t it?
