Weird. I could sit in an empty room for hours and not be bored because I'm constantly talking to myself in my head. And whenever I listen to music I also imagine certain scenarios that fit the music.

I saw another video years ago of a woman talking about this. They ask her if she ever thought about someone she may have upset and later thought about it and felt bad and she said no because she had no inner monologue. That blew 🤯 me away. That’s probably why there are so many people out there just pissing people off and have no clue because its like they have no conscious or voice analyzing what they did to someone and it that it was wrong. So strange, almost like drones.

You mistaken internal monologue with self reflection ability
      No internal monologue here
But I self reflect through visuals and feelings. I imagine a person I could hurt in the past and then a stream of feelings comes, some feelings judge me, some make me feel guilt and so on.
More than that my empathy levels are extremely high as sometimes I absorb other people's emotions and mistaken them for my own.
And the person you described sounded like a person with narcissistic personality disorder. They have no empathy for others and they almost never self reflect.but yet again, a narcissist can have an internal monologue and an ability to visualize stuff.

I am over seventy, and when I heard about this, my reaction was "What, people actually have talking inside their head?" I hear a little bit of a voice when I'm reading dialogue in a book, but I do not think in words or sentences. I do a lot of talking to myself out loud, mainly in the car. I watched another video where a couple of people were interviewed who had this. One question I found very interesting is "Do you have dialogue in dreams?" They both said no. And I thought, "Yeah, neither do I." I'm a very good pianist, but have always wondered why I have so much trouble hearing music in my head. I'm also very articulate in speech, and have done a lot of teaching, and even radio work. I write books, but I do a lot of the thinking on the page, and just revise and revise. I will occasionally rehearse arguments in my head. Even then, it's like I construct sentences, but I'm not really hearing my voice saying them.

I think there is a spectrum, like with most things, where some people's inner monologue is more persistent and articulate, and other people's just let them be most of the time without commentary. My own voice is pretty persistent, and is both my best friend, and worst verbal bully. At least I feel as though it comes from me, and is just my rational mind weighing options, making observations and taking notes. Sometimes the voice stops talking, and gets replaced by music or singing from a song that gets stuck in there. This was true even before I learned the craft of musicianship. When I'm super lucky, usually first thing in the morning, all the chatter, and all the earworms are quiet enough that I can begin to hear music that I didn't neccesssarily hear from a plastic box before, and might be something of my own. Sometimes , I can play guitar for hours , trying to silence my inner voice , but it's still having a days or years old discussion where I could have, but did not, say a number of things that might have made a difference at the time.

I am also a musician, but have never had much ability to hear a piece in my head, even if I've studied it a long time. I hear pitches way above normal human hearing, and am very sensitive to loud noises.

I don't need to verbalise or visualise simple thoughts and even concepts. I just KNOW something. If it is interesting/complicated enough, I may stop and search for suitable words/images. But it's some extra work, that the thought should be worthy of. And I don't usually do it when I don't have some specific purpose, like speaking my mind or leaving a memory. For instance, that's how I write poetry. I translate unverbalised concepts (that are always more vast and flexible then verbalised or visualised ones) into most suitable words and associated images, lay them out in front of my inner sight and then look for metaphors in what I've got. This is a way to connect original concept with human system (systems) of signs: verbal, visual, etc. While I write, I always turn back to inner silence and check if the words, pictures and plots I make with their visualisations (basically extended metaphors) are accurate enough. And so on, line by line. It's like a very sophisticated game. Almost like Glasperlenspiel. I love it.
Sorry for my English, probably you can imagine how many iteractions it takes me to say something so complicated, something that I, moreover, know without saying, in foreign language...

I didn't know people had an inner monologue until about three days ago, and it actually sounded really weird to me--like an extra person in there or something. It's sort of hard to say how I think, but it's definitely not a voice, or even sentences. I can analyze, and have no problem expressing my ideas in speech. But there's some kind of translation process going on there. I am certainly not repeating words that have already been thought in my head. About the only time I am really thinking in words is if I am rehearsing an argument and constructing good sentences in my head.

I have no internal monologue for the most part. I can if I am thinking what I want to say to someone or when writing something that someone else needs to read. But for my everyday thoughts it is not a monologue. If I need to buy bananas when shopping I just think the substance and the location and the timing and tuck it into my to-do file.
When I read in my head I don't read the words phonetically, I read the meaning of the words. I am a slow reader likely because if the words don't make sense I need to re-read, and if someone uses the wrong word like there, their or they're I have to phonetically read it to understand their error. I so hate when people misspell or use the wrong homophones.
I couldn't imagine using an internal monologue for all my thoughts, It would feel so single dimensional, you could only think one thing at a time.

If asked, I can find words for what I am seeing usually ( not always) but it is a distraction from the experience of what I am seeing. So the practice of playing out scenerios, pre thinking entire sentences to fit a situation, or to write stories and knowing which to go with by imagining what works best between minds, all that is lost? It sounds like it'd be based on reactions, senses, impulses and emotionally driven actions, and either could be good or bad depending on the degree of empathy. Though I think the most destructive people do have an internal monologue but no conscience, one of the most narcissistic person I've ever met had constant internal monologue. But words are not just words, they are symbols which have power and layers of meaning to our psyche, not having that world to work with imagery is like an amputation, no ability to revise thoughts to solve all the kinks before the action. Can they not tell themselves jokes, that would be terrible.

We can contemplate ideas at will but there is no voice nor images nor sound nor smell (varies per person). Silent thinking? Abstract thinking? Unsymbolized thinking?

We are typically boring yes, because small talk is boring and we rather just sit in silence.

    No internal monologue
I can turn on internal voice, but it's all intentional. Occasionally I have monologue, but it only describes things. It's not interacting with the world or me
I think and process information through mix of feelings and visual imagery. I have conversations in my head with different parts of my psyche, but they happen again through feelings and visuals.
I guess this visual part is dominant in my case, so I don't need a voice to lead and describe my actions. They're reflected to me in images and feelings.
Also, when I imagine an apple, I can't control myself from "feeling" its' round shape and smooth texture and its' taste.
So I guess there's some "sinesthesia" involved.
When I need to plan something I imagine visually a watch on my hamd, me rushing to this meeting, what I have to do to prepare and so on. Again it's a mix of visuals and feelings towards these visuals.
I guess I'm very like your friend on a video. He seems like a very sweet guy.

As someone with an internal monologue...
I think it helps with making presentations and speeches..
Ive alwaybeen told im shy and quiet..
But Im not shy... I just do lots of thinking in my own head(with no need to talk to others)..
But when giving speeches or presentations at work or whatever I blow people away(because im given a STAGE to express what is processed internally through careful consideration)
