I love that you have built this into your home. It will give you peace of mind to know that if anything is happening you all have a safe room where you can be together. There will still be enough space after you make your closet that 2 adults, 4 children, and pets can be comfortable. Make sure that as you're designing your closet you leave a space/cupboard to store bottled water, snacks, pillows, and blankets. Also, incorporate electric sockets so you can charge phones and ipads while you are in there. I love seeing Nelson and Yami together explaining the progress.
Omgosh! Baby is adorable. God Bless! Great safety planning for the family.
I love the fact that you guys are putting the family first and their safety❤
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Yami and Nelson, it is never an overkill when it comes to the protection of your family. It is better to be prepared and not need it. You guys should be proud of yourself. You guys are doing an amazing job
Aren't they awesome? I love this family. I am so happy for them.
I think having this room is very appropriate considering where you live and storms have been so awful in years past. It will be comforting to know there is a safe place to go especially after you get it equipped and stocked. You never think these things will happen to you but good for you for planning ahead.
We couldn’t agree more.
Yami,I am just so amazed at both you and Nelson's forethought. OBVIOUSLY Keeping your family safe in your neck of the woods is a big priority, and of course, family is always number one.Not many people out there would be so smart about it.
Thank you so much Connie. We are trying to be as proactive as possible with all of this. Hopefully we won’t forget anything. 🤞🏼
Your ideas are not a overkill. Number one thing is to get yourselves and kiddos safe.
Nelson, as someone who worked in a bank and was in and out of it numerous times, I would like to remind you of three things. First, make sure the code pad to open that door does not need electricity to function. Secondly, make sure you have other avenues to get air in/out incase your hvac system looses power. Third is make sure you have other forms of light then just electricity. Just bringing this up because I know how black and stuffy it gets in those vaults, and even if your electricity is ran underground, main power suppliers are not. Don't ask how I know all of this.
Thank you so much! I’ll make sure he sees this. 🙏🏼
Being from a tornado prone area, I was thinking the same. The power can go out way before it's time to take shelter or maybe in the shelter longer than expected. I would suggest looking into a battery backup system and second air ventilation system that does not require power or uses battery backup.
It is so awsome how it is coming along. Your safe room is awsome idea to keep your family safe. Your doggy is to cute. He make a great supervisor 😂. Your baby is growing to fast. She is so precious.
Hey beautiful lady and family and building a shelter in your home is so important with almost this scary weather we’re having.
The weather is nuts. Makes me wonder what’s causing all this. 🧐
You've come a long way. I've been following your craft and painting for a Long time. Congratulations .
Yami and Nelson you're not doing an overkill because the most important treasure you have are you both, and your children. They are your legacy!🙏
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!
Totally agreed! 🙏🏼
Love seeing and listening to your little one ❤️❤️ such a smart baby, she already has so much to say.. makes me miss when my were small
Hi guys! Smart move to accommodate a safe storm room. I live in Central Texas, which was the end of tornado alley. Climate change has moved the storm game! Tornado alley has moved east away from the center of our nation. As you said y'all have experienced bad storms. But now you're safer. God watches over your beautiful familia. ❤
Okay guys in case of a zombie apocalypse I’m heading to Tennessee!!😂😂All kidding aside, good job you two, that room is awesome!! 👍💪💕💕💕💕
LOL! Oh we have a plan for that too. 😉😏😏
Ha, ha, ha me too.😂😂
This is so nice great idea having a safe place to go. Sometimes the wind and lightning gets really bad here and you bring in the mountain area I'm sure it's worse. Really enjoyed this video. Can't wait for the next one. Your little girl is so adorable. I can tell she's a good baby.
Thank you Robin. 🙏🏼
I have learned a lot watching your house go up. It’s so exciting to see the progress you’re making.
I’m so glad to hear that. 🥰
Hi Yami and Nelson, it’s amazing what you’re doing to keep your family safe. Thank you for educating me on having a safe room for a home. ❤
This is so awesome. Making sure family is safe!
I think this is a brilliant idea. Also, having the door swing in is also brilliant. The neighbors might even run over and hang out with ya'll in the middle of a storm, but I pray no bad storm will ever touch your house and do
Is overkill a thing when you're protecting your family? Knowing you'll be safe when a storm/tornado/torrential rains, whatever the weather throws at you, you're being wise.
Y'all's baby girl is so beautiful!
Having a safe room is so great, Yami!❤ I am so happy for you & your family that y'all's house is starting to take place! I so look forward to seeing the next video!❤ As always, thank you for sharing your journey with us! Stay safe, healthy, and positive! God bless you and your family!🙏❤️🇺🇸😊
Ive been sick and have some catching up to take care of! Looking very nice and well thought out!
I really like the safe room in the master bedroom/ closet area. I thought you originally would have put it in the garage, but putting it in the bedroom makes soo much more sense!!! I’m so glad that safety is part of your new home!!! Great idea!!!! 💕💕💕
Oh, your baby is so cute and has such a beautiful smile!
What a great idea to do it that way! Very important for everyone's safety.
Yamin, Great video. We're actually in East TN visiting family. I sure have missed the mountains. Great idea for the safe room. 😊
Yami and Nelson u obviously have done ur homework with this build. How about reinforced windows and doors? Luv the way y two work together.❤❤ 3:18
Great video, Yami and Nelson! Thanks for sharing!
Y’all are great forward thinking. And getting it now with all these crazy weather you can use it now if needed.
What about things for kids to do inside and snacks etc water so on. The light mean a lot too. Maybe y’all will start a new thing to purposely making it in house and not have to try get outside blessings continued building your forever home and new journey 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
That’s good that y’all put a safe room for when bad weather comes. Can’t wait to see more on how it is coming along. Gracias, Yami! Saludos y bendiciones para Los Latinos ❤️🙏🏽
I love everything y'all are doing to y'alls home. It's coming together.
Just I typed what about air source, you start talking about the subject. My brother had a room built in his house on the lake. It had its own separate power and air source. I’m so glad you both are smart and thinking this process through n throughly. To many people just don’t think things through. You are up on top of the mountain range and yeah the wind do get rough.! Oh btw, baby girl can babble and talk as much as she wants. It doesn’t bother me. Hugs for you n Nelson 😊❤
She’s such a darling.🌺🌸🌼it won’t be long and you will be in your new home ❣️
We sure hope so 🙏🏼
Good idea doing a storm shelter inside your home. Everything is coming along.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
After watching tornado videos lately...and the devastation it causes... creating the storm shelter for your family is anything but overkill.
So excited for you all. 💝
I keep watching for updates, great that you thought of the safe room.
Thumbnail pic had me SHOOK! I see a framed up house… wow I feel like I missed something somewhere last u saw was foundation 😂
Very cool and great idea!! So happy for you guys!! ❤
Inch by inch, lol. Its a long haul but it will be worth it, thanks for taking us along.
I think you have made some very good and sound decisions for your family. If the closet “safe” door is left open all the time (until it must be closed) you won’t even know it’s there, it will look just like a normal closet.
Super 😎 cool.
This is so interesting. Thank you for sharing!!❤
Happy Father's Day Nelson
I pray that you and your family will never have to use the storm shelter. But it is life anymore when you see day in and day out the tornados that go through town after town.
Congratulations on your safe room. About 2 months ago, we had a tornado watch. I live in a trailer you talk about, scared I was. You guys will all be safe. Thank you for sharing your video. I watch every one of them. Keep up the good work. I think I live about 40 or 45 miles away from you guys
I’m glad you’re okay. Every time we had a storm and we were in the trailer I could not sleep. It was so scary! 😱
Congratulations on your dream farmhouse. Will there be a restroom in there? You can put a generator in that room just in case the power goes out.
No, there will be no restroom in there.
will you be able to get any outside news while in that room? and I hope you have air flow. Have some water and necessities stored in there because you basically have a survival room there. The old storm cellars had all that and more. well when i continued to watch you addressed these issues.
Smart thinking!
Very smart
❤
Really bad tornado it bounced right over us in front of us was very damaged and behind us was Praise the Lord we did not have any death around us but Man Was It Scary we just had our basement
Nelson, what's holding up all that concrete?
❤❤❤
In the video you can see the metal sheeting holding everything up.
Must be hard for people living in tornado area and good to know you can have option to protect yourself. Extra ball of candy into that space to keep you calm😊🎉🎉🎉 thank you for sharing this vital information. 🫂
Great 😅
Awesome idea to have a storm shelter! This was a great and interesting watch!
I have a question or two or maybe three.
1. How will you go to the bathroom when you are locked in there? Hopefully you wouldn’t have to shelter for more than a day? This wasn’t meant to be funny. It’s a practical question and I’m sure you’ve planned on that. But I’m curious. I just remembered you have a dog too. 6 people and a dog. Fun, right?
2. You said you will have HVAC in there which is vital. But if the power is out, how will you ventilate? A battery powered generator rather than a gas powered one due to fumes? Then what about your fridge and freezer as well. Would you have 2 units? If so would you have time to get the other one up and running before you lock-in?
Also you may want to consider having a transistor radio to get notification when it’s all clear to come out. Just a thought. Your cell phones may not have wifi inside the thick concrete walls.
I’m a planner type person and I live by the motto that it’s better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it. That’s why I always over-pack when I travel. I irritate my ownself!! 😊
I am so happy for you all doing this new home build! And I get excited every time you bring us an update!! I don’t need to tell you to stay safe. You’ve got that covered! ❤❤
This space is not for us to stay in for a long period of time. It’s just to “weather” the storm. Once it’s over we come out. We will have a generator that will automatically kick on and keep vital appliances like refrigerators etc on during a black out.
@@TheLatinaNextDoor I made the assumption that a “what if” might occur. My RN brain has been wired to think of the worst possible scenarios first always and prepare for that. I am sorry! 🥲 You and Nelson are nobody’s fools and I am certain you’ve thought your plans through thoroughly. That was evident in the video especially when you got a door that opens inward!! Brilliant!! I meant no disrespect at all. 💙♥️
@@denisetarabori553 no need to apologize! I understand why you would think of all these things. But due to the size of the space there is only so much we could do. We do and will have other preparations in store for sure. 🥰
@@TheLatinaNextDoor I have no doubt about that! 💗
You have storm shelters we have bomb shelters!
Probably a stupid question but will you have enough oxygen getting into the safe room?
Yes. With the HVAC system we will. We talked about it in the video. 🥰
Dang Yami! What did Nelson do that got you upset? Lol you look so annoyed with him by not acknowledging him sitting next to you lol
I was actually focusing on the baby in the first part. She was talking a lot so I was listening to make sure she wasn’t being louder than Nelson. That is all.
@@TheLatinaNextDoor being a good mom. Love your videos and CONGRATULATIONS on your new build. Can’t wait to see it done.
I'm surprised there's no toilet in there.
Yeah we won’t be putting a toilet in there. There should be no need for that. 🤣
@@TheLatinaNextDoor Murphy's Law says if you ever go in there, which you won't, everybody will have to pee 😂😂😂
Are you guys going to have a small pantry in there if God forbid you are stuck in there for a few days?
It’s just to weather the storm. This isn’t for long term usage.
Where is your ventilation I didn't see any venting
Ok sorry I heard the rest of the video
Just I typed what about air source, you start talking about the subject. My brother had a room built in his house on the lake. It had its own separate power and air source.
