It's funny how no one ever thinks of how accurate homelander's physics is when he makes the decision to leave everybody.
He was so right about it, he couldn't have done anything in that situation (of course he could have saved 2 or 3 people but he wanted perfection or nothing, which is something that people should be mad about), but people have been so spoiled by Superman catching crashing planes that they start hating on homelander here for wrong reasons.
@@TheReaIestOne correct. I personally understand what he was saying. It just takes time for a new viewer to adjust that this isn’t a DC comic character.
In Superman returns. I saw the plan falling apart as Superman struggled to stop it. So homelander makes sense. I believe a speeder original broke someone’s neck or placed his head behind someone’s head so it wouldn’t break as they took off. Others extend their speed force when touching lol. Lol. Never know with DC
@@jahad8550 there is no reason. I never asked
Edit: there’s a few things to focus on. I guess the priority is discord, schedule, patreon. Folks only pat attention to so much
Homelander was just saying a lot of the points that scientists have criticized when Superman lifts a plane. It would not be possible even if Superman powers were real.
It would probably end like the Invincible train scene
Unless you're Superman, since he's op af compared to Homelander and has more powers than him.
Superman lifting and stopping a plane isn’t actually a feat of his super strength. Depending on the version he’s altering or using his own mono-directional gravitational field, his psionic field, telekineses, and/or negative mass aura. Homelander on the other hand doesn’t have that ability so he’d have to rely on his strength, which would lead to the issues he and scientists have raised.
@@boboburbur those psionic/gravitional/etc. powers of Superman were only made up because they felt the need to “explain” unrealistic/physic breaking aspects of superheroes like Superman. It’s just less suspension of disbelief.
Superman has biokinetic aura which lets him lift crazy heavy things. It extends to whatever he grabs subconsciously and keeps it held together. Superman is actually terrible at using it though, he only does it subconsciously. The first Superboy (Conner) has much better control and used it all the time. Its a big plot point in All-Star Superman as well, Superman extends his aura completely at one point (he has control over it by then) and Lex uses this moment to poison him or something.
Antony Starr is an INCREDIBLE actor. He makes you love to hate Homelander.
The right person in the right place/spot you name it... hands down Antony Starr brings Homlander to life...(those rock, paper, Shotgun to the face moments)... pure GOLD
For the plane scene there is truth to what homelander is saying. You would first have to understand that although the chasis of the plane is structurally tough, the skin of the plane is not as tough. He would have to match the speed of the plane then carefully slow the plane down with counter force from his strength, which would be most peoples logic. you forget that the plane is in motion at high speeds, and so the body is already experiencing extreme pressure. If homelander were to attempt to lift the plane from underneath, it would snap. If he were to match the speed and attempt to slow down a 500mph plane, where ever he would apply force, the body would crumple and he would just puncture through it.
P.s. this show is awsome and y’all’s reactions are gold.
yeah, the "slow it down" argument is always used but if you have basic knowledge of physics, you know it's impossible. the plane is not weightless. without the engine, the plane is basically a bus that's falling from the sky. if he even tries to put a force on that plane, it would just tilt and make it worse. people think that just because the plane has wings, it would glide. air resistance is fuck all in that scenario. that's a hundred of tons of steel falling down.
Hughie is what I call 'secure in his insecurity'. Sure, it sometimes bothers him that he's not the toughest guy out there, but he doesn't have many illusions about himself. It genuinely does not bother him that Annie is tougher than he is; he just thinks it's cool.
As Clint Eastwood said a Mans got to know his limitations
Hughie represents "us" the viewers, just what a regular normal ass dude.
This aged well
Omega Gaming aged like fine milk
I honestly loved the plane scene I feel like people don’t realize homelander isn’t meant to be a good guy 😂 if not that he doesn’t care about the peoples lives he just cares less about their lives than the consequences that coke with him keeping them alive. His logic is actually very sensible. And gives you a look into how he thinks. It’s not as if he’s like “ah I just don’t care about these guys they’re not my responsibility so they can die” he’s actually realistic and a insanely grounded villain. He’s very realistic. And call me crazy all you want but he’s very understandable.
agreed reluctantly lol
Homelander aint lazy, he just knows how physics work.
nah, i think he meant lazy in the way of taking the easiest route when it comes to stopping people; he always goes with his lasers. no spoilers but this isn’t the only time it gets him in trouble. if he would just pay more attention or be more precise when aiming, he wouldn’t have these issues but he doesn’t care enough to.
Thats what she was talking about. Thanks Chance
@@YaBoyRockLee of course!
When this episode came out there was a huge debate about weither Homelander could've save deveryone in the plane after he messed up the cockpit or not.
While we can all agree that he didn't care, he was right he couldn't have saved everyone in the superman way.
Remember in episode 1 Queen Maeve passed through the armored truck just by standing in front of it. If Homelander had tried to lift the plane as Superman by controlling its speed and force, either it would be too fast and would have destroyed the plane like a missile, or it would be too slow and the plane and gravity would have carried it away. in the ocean. And if he tried to slow the descent of the plane in the air by exerting a force against the plane, it would have had the same result as Maeve with the armored truck.
I'm pretty sure when Madelyn turns to him when they see the news report and says "More important than Translucent, more import than anything", she sees an opportunity to use the crash to blame terrorists. So I think it was already in the books between Madelyn and Homelander to have the plane go down. Queen Maeve just wasn't in the know, and Homelander lasered the cockpit on purpose and was like, opps. Oh ya let me make up a lame excuse why I can't even try to save the plane.
yes...Physics, that's joke. Basically the way Superman saves stuff like that isn't possible in the real world.
@@fortmanr I don't believe Homelander did it on purpose. During the briefing scene Madelyn tells Homelander and Maeve that there are 3 terrorists on board. They didn't know there was a fourth in the cockpit. That's why Homelander is celebrating after the 3 terrorists are killed.
It would be a terrible plan to Sabatoge the plane where the Blackbox is.
And there's no reason to purposefully Sabatoge the plane. If the supes showed up and saved the plane before Norad even had the opportunity to scramble their jets it would put public support for supes in the military even more. Which was Madelyns plan in the first place.
If the plan was to down the plane why even take Maeve if they where gonna leave her out of the plan? Why put on a big show after killing the terrorists around people with cell phones then sabatoging it where he can be recorded by the Blackbox?
If the original plan was to down the plane the way they did, it would be the dumbest plan ever conceived.
It makes more sense that Madlyn, Homelander and Maeve thought there where 3 terrorists. Killed them, celebrated too early and accidentally destroyed the cockpit, then Homelander spun it. That's why Madelyn looked genuinely surprised at Homelanders speech.
@@lukaszzylik4437 You brought up a lot of good points. You might be right, but there are still a couple of things that steer me in the other direction. The first is why tell Maeve to leave the office? What is it that Madlyn and Homelander had to talk about that she couldn't hear? Just using this as a way to boost the military thing seems like something Maeve would be ok hearing. The other is, it is always easier to create a rallying cry around a tragedy rather than an averted tragedy. Homelander already showed he had no problems dropping a plane full of innocent people. Either way, great points and I love talking about this, you really made me think
@@fortmanr if it was done on purpose then I figure it would have been brought up as a plot point in the show. Unless it's brought up in a later season, but that just seems unlikely.
If it was the plan all along then wouldn't it have been easier to sabotage it some other way? Just shoot it down from the outside and clean it up from there like Homelander did before.
It just doesn't make sense to me that Homelander would take that long showing off in front of all those people, who have cellphones and would want to record Homelander saving them. It seems like they REALLY wanted everyone to know the supes got there before the military did. If your going to sabotage a plane your not gonna pose and pat yourself on the back in front 100+ with cell phones.
At first I thought it might have been done on purpose too but the more I rewatch the scene and the briefing scene the less it makes sense to me. It really seems like Homelander and Maeve thought there where only 3 terrorists there. What if the 4th one wasn't in the cockpit. After killing all 4 of them was Homelander just gonna walk over to the cockpit and destroy the console anyway after publicly celebrating beforehand, with Queen Maeve there?
That plan would just create like 100 extra loose ends that could get found out.
And as evil as Voight is and Madlyn was, they never sanctioned things like killing that mayor and his son over compound V or giving compound V to terrorists. I can't see Madelyn being careless enough to sabotage a plane so publicly.
It's still a fun question to ask though, you know?
Starlight is holding back for Huey's pride, Homelander was talking about the physics...Homelander pushing up against the plane would collapse the plane or he would push right through it. Superman has a field around him that allows him to not crush things around him, but Homelander was being realistic about things.
"he is not a bad guy" after he killed an innocent person, laugh about it and didn't even remember Huey afterwards
Yeah if deep is trash then definately a train is.deep did do one really awful thing.a train does bad things constantly.
It was an accident, though. Plus, some people drink their problems away and laugh about them to deal with them. Not everyone shows remorse in the same way. Also, I wouldn't want to remember Hughey's face either. I wouldn't want to face that guilt.
@@randy7796 bro he so annoyed when he had to apologize to Huey, there's zero remorse on that man's conscious.
Also it was an accident cause because he was high on V, that's like forgiving a drunk driver that runs someone over because they didn't mean it
@@fran_valz just because he was annoyed doesn't mean it wasn't because he didn't want to face the guilt.
Also, I wouldn't call drunk drivers "bad" people, just irresponsible for the most part. You can hit a bystander and not be drunk, but the intoxication will be blamed whenever it's a drunk driver involved because it's easy to do so. It's a commonly accepted risk. There are even lots of people that function better while intoxicated because it eases their nerves (for people with bad nerves at least), but they'll get hit with a DUI charge for simply having alcohol in their system over a certain limit even if it doesn't affect everyone the same.
Plus, I'd say the effects of V are the opposite of the effects of intoxication. While alcohol is known for easing nerves and calming the mind, V is more akin to steroids or energy drinks, which basically makes you more powerful or more stronger and attentive. It's not necessarily a bad a thing, but with great power comes great responsibility, and he was definitely irresponsible. I'd agree that it were bad if his intentions were impure, but all we see him do is use it to train for track and whatever Homelander asks him to do.
@@randy7796 if you kill somebody because you were driving while intoxicated you are a bad person, the risk are putting your own convinice over other people's lives. v like we see when he use it on the race makes him hyper active, less control. using it on the city is putting people in danger.
Y'all are giving A-Train WAAAAAY too credit, goddamn XD
This show is really what are you willing to forgive. Cause hear me out I think A-Train is way worse than the Deep. Yeah what Deep did is fucked up but he geniunly cares about the animals he wants to save and I see way more people excusing A-Train for murder cause dude has it hard as a famous guy.
30:22 Homelander's acting skills are top tier 😂
That actor plays a sociopath pretending to hold back tears after murdering them all to manipulate the media about not getting there early enough to get more power. My mind is blown.
"How does he know so much about Spice Girls?"
Rewatch the opening scene of this episode.
It’s actually true homeland we couldn’t grab a moving plan especially with his strength he would tear through it Superman’s excuse to being able to do it is one of her powers i forgot what its called but it allows his to be able to do things like that overall the boys follows more of a logical standpoint of their abilities
The actor who plays Homelander kills it in this role. His facial expression and the switch from the public Homelander to the dont give a fuck Homelander is hilarious to watch. That speech at the end is epic. All the first 4 episodes nail, the first one ATrain plows through Robin only leaving her hands behind, a sup shrinking and muff diving, they end it with the beat down at the end. Episode 2 ends with Hughie exploding the butt bomb. E3 Popclaw popping that dudes head while grinding on his face, then 4 is packed with the plane, the Deep and the dolphin relationship, the Spice Girl speech, Homelanders speech at the end. All great stuff. I was amazed at how good this show was and to avoid having any of the usual social messages crammed in, this is just a pure escape and hilarious show even though the funniest stuff is often the darkest like the dolphin it just goes from bad to worse, out the front window into the road, to a semi haha.
Speaking of the Deep as much as I hate him, I find his downward spiral and story line hilarious but he deservers as well.
Homelander couldn't have caught the plane, he was right. He would have gone through it like Maeve went through that armored truck in episode 1.
Superman can catch things like that because of his powers. He has a bio-electric aura around him that gives him his super durability. When he goes to catch someone/something, he subconsciously expands that aura to protect whatever he's grabbing so nobody explodes/things don't crumble or break.
EDIT: The guy playing Homelander is Antony Starr. He was in a show called Banshee. Man's a master at playing slightly to incredibly unhinged characters.
Damn, you guys are the only ones to ever laugh thru that whole airplane scene
Ohhhh. Yeah. Sorry man. Homelanders Charisma and Brutality is unfortunately entertaining to me. I love how he acts.
@@YaBoyRockLee I get it
Drugs don't make you an asshole who can't give a sincerely apology for killing someone.
Facts. Tell these reactors
Do you guys not know how physics work? Homelander trying to lift the WEIGHT of the plane isn't the problem it's because it would be like trying to balance a water balloon on a nail.
Plus he’s not Superman
@@tztpandagamingyt6327 yeah, Superman lifting everything without it falling apart was explained as Tactile-kinesis which lets him hold the molecules of whatever he touches together so he could lift a school without it collapsing around his body.
Recyclable is accurate. I can’t explain why because of spoilers, but you’ll see it eventually.
This show is way more realistic than super hero movies, homelander wouldn’t have been able to lifts the plane, neither could Superman. He might be able to if he had a surface to push off of but in the air? He wouldn’t be able to conjure up enough strength to lift it, and him flying straight at the plane to “stop it” wouldn’t work either sense he would just break right through the plane, I’m glad that they are making this show realistic. 👌
You should research some if Supermans ability to extend his power to an object he lifts or catches so it doesn’t break. There is actually an explanation for it now lol
"I'll always be there for you"
"Bitch my rent wasn't on time"
I cant wait till they find out Homelanders weakness. No spoilers but I still think its a perfect bow on the present.
Applying real world physics , if someone falling off a building and Superman tried to catch him, Superman's body or speed will fucking break the person's bones, it would be like the same impact of the ground. But they still make it work somehow in superheroes world, so I don't know about the plane here, i really think Homelander could've done something but he doesn't give a fuck.
Late to the show but, my theory is that it wasn't about physics or anything like that. Homelander wanted the plane to go down so that he could later spin it as a reason to alow sups into the military.
"He is recyclable" LOL
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet,
but the scene on the beach at the end is a parody of George Bush's speech on 9/11
Right down to the "and whoever did this will hear from all of us!"
And then the crowd start chanting.
As a general rule, I give a show its 1st 4 episodes and if I'm not invested enough to keep watching after that I stop. This episode is a good example as to why watching the 1st 4 episodes is worth the wait given the payoff we get by this point, and I have enjoyed the rest of Seasons 1 and 2 as well.
Banshee is another fantastic show with Antony Starr... I highly recommend it
Loving ur reactions for this show. Y'all the perfect combination to react. Love y'all ❤️.
ayo the lady in the middle is smart
Facts
The female of the species is here.
This is the episode that let's everyone know just in case there was any hint of a doubt...Homelander ain't shit.
ma'am pulling a plane going down in an insane speed ? did ya miss physics classes ?
You gotta understand. Comics and Superman deny physics. It’s just a matter of her adjusting to a show that incorporates physics more than the DC shows she is used to. Also she used to be quiet because of comments like yours. We can be respectful.
Haha not to put any spoilers at all, but got to realize how this show has the characters in the world. The “bad guys” are the boys, and everyone else is in a world that requires them to basically lose their morals to get ahead in this world. You also got this company that is running things in what seems to be such a corrupt manner and rewards it’s employees for being assholes basically. It doesn’t help to basically have a bad Superman as the leader.
There are some morally bad characters, like even frenchie and butcher are murderers, but they actually have a little depth to their characters when looking at them in the light of this world. I think Adorkable Nerd is reading it right 😁
Ayy these are fast as heck releases, hell yea!
Homelander is the worlds greatest superhero.
No tf he isn't lol
WE LOVE YOU HOMELANDER
Half way through this and I gotta say, I don't watch the anime ones, but from what I've seen, Adorkable is usually pretty reserved. I'm super hyped that she is really vocalizing her thoughts this series.
She’s hit or miss. If she’s quiet it’s because the comments section jump at her for her opinions like in Cobra Kai. So she shuts down sometimes
@@YaBoyRockLee damn, these people in the comments can be brutal sometimes
@@checkmattee222 all the time lol
So comic comparison with the plane hijacking, this was an even bigger clusterfuck, this was in parallel with the 9/11 hijacking, but instead of hitting the twin towers, it hit Brooklyn Bridge but you had another set of the 7 going at it.
And they, save Maeve and Homelander, they either slam into the nose, the wing, or the fin of the plane before futile attempts to calm passengers down caused Homelander to shout so loud he he blew out every passengers eardrums out before saying Fuck It and bounced before killing the last terrorist and pilot.
Needless to say, helluva lot more collateral crashing the plane into the bridge bs the towers
Starlight wasn’t part of the 7 at the time
@@N3xtStopHell thanks, forgot to edit that part.
I can watch reactions to the dolphin scene all day long. One thing I noticed, Americans laugh hysterically at it and Europeans are horrified.
Really? Yeah. That’s the cultural thing. We laugh at terrible things.
Probably cuz of the world war, some of those Napoleon era accounts of battle are quite hilarious. 🥴
One major hit by a cannon was said that "he replaced his empty head with one of lead"
a airplane needs nearly all the area of the wings to sustain its wheigth. there is no place where even a full human body let alone hands can hold that wont be instantly crushed. the very slow approach cannot help either because you are literally doing nothing. like trying to brake a train with an umbrella. the moments that5 the cookpit was lost the plane was doomed, if they do not have another pilot onboard they were doomed even before homelander screw this up
RIP to the Dolphin
This episode just keeps getting darker
Great reaction and discussion
My favorite numbers are 9 and 11
I'm loving these reactions 🤣
lets behonest they gaslit each other neither of them are good for each other but they both are doing it cause they are scared! if he pulled it it would have split the airplane in half, he was very logical why the plane thing wouldn’t work vs that cartoon/movie/tv show trope
Damn, Erza is killing it!!))))
My wife Erza is not in these reactions of The Boys
@@YaBoyRockLee Oh, sorry. Who is this girl then? She looks kinda similar.
@@masido443 she says her name 00:46. They really don’t look alike man. They are just both Hispanic….. lol
@@YaBoyRockLee sorry man, really. I didn't mean to. UCN iwas killing it in the video. Just that.
I dont think homelander could've save the plane however he def could have save some people the kids for example but he didnt care and it wasnt beneficial to his plan
reacting to stranger things would be good for your channel, bring in another audience as well
Facts. What room though?
When the pilot got shot and Homelander accidentally destroyed the controls he decided right then and there he didn't want this to be known by anyone, would have been a blemish on his performance as this shouldn't have happened. So it was preferable to him the plane crashed and they weren't involved at all so nobody would find out and potentially damage his perfect public image (this becomes clearer as the show goes on, dude doesn't handle criticism all that well). He tried to make up excuses to Maeve because unfortunately for him she was there with him, if she weren't he wouldn't have hesitated and made sure that nobody would have survived on this plane himself.
He wasn't lying about not being able to save it, though.
What is spice girls?
Uk Girl Group. Legends he listed the 4/5 names and combines them
Excellent
Homelander is lazy but he also could've done nothing to save the plane. Superman could do it because of shit the writers made up to have it seem more "realistic"
You must react to spice girls video
YEAAAAHHH
Homelander had a motive for letting it crash
nice
They're all trash except for Starlight and possibly Wonder Walmart. In the comics the rest of The Seven were on the plane and they killed everyone on the plane before it crashed apparently. Also if you read comics where Superman kills and/or watch animated movies where Superman kills, you'll know that his beams are way more powerful and deadly than Homelander's.
i agree maeve did want to be a hero, and after years of homelander and vought shes jaded now
Homelander was like making excuses about lifting a plane. It wouldn't hurt for him to try. Not to mention he made a promise to little girl that nothing would happen.
While he was making excuses, there was no way for him to stop the plane from crashing. Even trying would’ve resulted in him tearing the plane in half and in Homelander’s mind, no point in trying to save some if they end up telling the public what really happened
He would've killed them even quicker lol
🐬➕🚗🪧☠. LOL!!!
