Love the chair, love the break down of sanding and the at about 7min you said 50%of the sanding was done at 150g it big dots. Im always keen to jump up grits and call it
Experience gives to the understanding of when your ready to go up in grit, sanding is not just sanding. It's the final finish / shape, so learn as you go even from sanding and all your projects will have improvement in quality but also labor spent.
Thanks again Paul for showing us your skills and the tools, sanders, you use to achieve your quality. Hey from Missouri, you all have a nice day now ya hear.
Been thinking about a new sander. I really like the idea of the Rolex combined with the dust collector. It seems that Festool really does better than any other brand with the combo dust collector and tools. It’s a load of $$, but seems like it’s worth it.
Can’t beat the rotex ! You gotta check out the saphir abrasive they make in 24 grit, i use that like an angle grinder …..also check out the ro90 sander , lighter on the hands
I do have the RO90 also, and ya it's a beauty but I find the amount the pad moves back and forth in rotex mod on the ro150 almost acts like hand sanding to bring the lumps and bumbs down. The 3'' works but it's a different animal.
Paul, I find that sometimes my Rotex, even w super soft pads are a bit large dia. for tight curved surfaces. Then I resort to the Metabo 3-1/8" www.amazon.com/Metabo-SXE400-8-Inch-Random-Sander/dp/B00004YBX5 that has similar pad, hard and flat, soft and flexible but it gets in tighter than my Festool Rotex do. Also using a gasket punch, you can cut 3" disks of 1000, 2k, up to 5-8k paper and really polish the wood.
Totally agree, but I find the stroke is so much smaller with a 3'' sander, and much harder to get out lumps and bumps. I'll use this sander on speed 1 in rotex and it's kinda like hand sanding with the throw the pad has moving back and forth. But if i can't fit the 6'' I do also have the Ro90 but almost never use it.
@@CanadianWoodworks Yes, not for smoothing roughness - just to bring increased grit graduations when joint is smoothed but 5" is too big a radius- only an 'inside radius' finish sander.
I have the original Rotex 150 E plus. Was over $500 at the time a year later they dropped price to $375 I have 3 of there Sanders good tools but their pads are junk can get better knock off from China for about $20 also can get abrasives for $15.00 for 50 discs I think the sustainers are junk.

Yes not cheap but they will last a long time, and do keep resale value if you need to sell. The dust collection is amazing!
With us these machines are advertised by bosch gex 40-150 proffesional and get 75-150 . they are manufactured in hungary.
I always though bosch had very similar sanders, I like bosch tools!
Strangley did see this on a Tuesday
My plan worked!

Salut JD
I’d like a Rolex! I have the ets 150 for fine sanding and love it. Want something more aggressive
We also have the Ets 150 and yes great finish sander!
You would be blown away with how aggressive the RO150 is in Rotex mode
Nice work. Until now, I have never hit the like button on a sanding video. LOL
Haha thanks!
No 180 Grit?
I don't even have 180 grit sand paper...LOL
