IV'E BEEN ON TABLETS EVER SINCE I WATCHED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I went to the Doctor and he asked me what was wrong, i played this video for him, When it was over he said i would be on tablets for the rest of my life.
To my mind THE best video of Virg on the internet. Showcases what he is capable of in full flight. Ferocious drumming combined with such precision and command to seemingly bend time to his choosing. Perhaps had more fire in the belly back then, especially from 38:30 onwards, attacks the drums in a way that few (if any) can.
I still have no freaking idea how it's humanly possible to pull it off while still being able to somehow keep composure and actually play through the song. Especially given what lies ahead. It's not fair, but such an absolute blessing to be able to hear this man do his thing.
Wow this is brilliant. Just had the privilege of seeing Virgil and his band play at Reggies in Chi a few months back. We were completely floored as usual.
saw the man at the national music show '97 it was like a religious experience. blew my socks off. most amazing spectacle I'd (and still to this day) seen!
I bet just once he would like the crowd to cheer while he's creating phrases in quintuplets while keeping a steady triplet pattern with his feet. The crowd kept cheering at the fast, yet much easier stuff.
OK, I could be wrong, but that looks like the Pearl mahogany kit that Dynamic Percussion kept on the showroom floor at the time. That was my dream kit when I would go in there as a teenager.
OTV is one of my all time favorite albums! A masterpiece of its kind. Virgil is there any chance of sheet music released for this one? Thank you for all the great music!
I miss this Virgil. This was his prime to me. I'm not really into the technical music or the " let's see how far we can push the human body and brain on a drum set) but here he's just a fucking force of nature. I feel like he lost the fluidity he used to have. Here it was just.... different. It's not that he's old now, that he lost his chops or skill... but he just plays different. Still incredibly technical, but less impressive...
I hear you but think it’s cool that he always evolves, you look at some of the other famous drummers and they play the same stuff from 30-40 years ago. Virgil has a new voice every 5 years or so.
I have a copy of this and it is UNBELIEVABLE. Watched this thousands of times over the years. Amazing.

Crowd Orgams HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Haha!
Trencherman is an absolutely insane display.
Virgil, if everyone played drums, this would be the most watched video on UA-cam.
That kids excitement pointing it out to his brother at 7:20 is what lifes all about.

Hahaha!
His hand technique is out of this world.

I swear the intro drums to Trencherman still sound like Fusion from another dimension with knowledge and understanding infinitely beyond our own.
I still have no freaking idea how it's humanly possible to pull it off while still being able to somehow keep composure and actually play through the song. Especially given what lies ahead. It's not fair, but such an absolute blessing to be able to hear this man do his thing.

Any idea on the model of his main snare drum here?
Would it be pretentious to call this drum solo one of your best?
Then again i can't really think of a bad one, so...
virgil é muito extremo
