Always on the look out for British brands that don't have fake military marketing, random bits of aeroplane, silly stories or bits of firehose 🤷♂️......These guys, CW and Vertex have so far not commited these sins.....Im quite liking these.
Incredible for the budget when you look at the alternatives. A brand that are actually logistically very close to me and its always brilliant to see a local brand do something special and affordable
Just dropping a comment to say, I really like how open you are about sponsored videos. You clearly respect your viewers' intelligence and time, no "selling out" at JOMW!
Hi Jody, thanks for leaving such a great review! Once again you've provided us with well-rounded and honest insights, whilst touching upon some valid points that we will take onboard going forwards. We're looking forward to working with you again and we appreciate all the feedback from your community. All the best from the team at Cestrian Watches and have a Merry Christmas!
I've been looking for an affordable purple dialed diver or field, but most seem to cost several hundred (or much more). If you guys made a Master or a Dive in a saturated, somewhat bright purple I'll guarantee at least one sale of each! These look great, but without a color that I want, I can't justify it. Still, I may pick one up for a gift for someone. They're really nice for the price, and I do like the shield logo, it's simple but fitting and not ostentatious or silly. Keep it up!
I think this is a big improvement over the last two you reviewed. This seems like a much more cohesive design that I could actually see myself wearing.
Great discovery! Thanks again. They seemed great the last time ... but now, with this Field Watch, my favorite type of watch? Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve got this watch and it is an absolute bargain!! Hard to beat for an everyday watch!! Sizing is perfect also. Can’t recommend it enough might even get another colour!!
I have one of these in grey. It's definitely nice for the price. But it wears a bit big and clunky for a field watch, and I would have preferred more brushing on the case and bezel. It seems to be well built and reliable so far.
I have the grey dial and I love it😊 It’s a strap monster too, looks great on leather and rubber straps. The bracelet is only ok but you cannot complain at this price
Just bought the blue one, looking forward to get it. I love my black dial Longines Spirit and I think this looks pretty similar. Best Cestrian design to date surely.
Bracelet too short for me but I recently picked up a Redwood FieldV3 from Canada at the same price only £$€5 shipping worldwide. Nodate Seiko solar mech swung it for me.
Ok you got me. Never heard of Cestrian but when compared to the Seiko 5 diver I was looking to buy this beats it hands down. Just bought a green V2 Diver and can’t wait to get it. It looks to me like it’s everything the Seiko 5 should be but isn’t. Don’t get me wrong I just bought a Seiko 5 GMT and I really like it. However everything that I would like, screw down crown, 120 click ceramic bezel, and sapphire crystal is on Cestrian. Thanks for the discount code. FYI my 2 sons and I are big fans of your channel.
Unpopular opinion, I feel like this sort of watch would be better off with a good quality quartz movement and slimmed down case, pulling the weight down a bit too. I know, i know, dont throw tomatos at me!
Not bad... not bad... I have WAY too many watches in this general class - including a Longines-esque Pagani PD-1717 that looks quite a bit like it - but I do really like this one. I would almost certainly wear this one on a vintage leather type strap rather than the bracelet and I think aesthetically speaking, I'd prefer a 3-link bracelet but that's pretty minor. I really like the hand set on this one. I don't mind the relatively busy edge of the dial... I do like that look in general. Slightly dressy field watches are my favorite genre.
Just received the field version in grey, absolutely worth the money. Can’t go wrong looking at those specs & design for that small price - with some originally!
This is mental, how can they make any profit on these as they ae so cheap? I just checked and its on sale for €138.95, all the parts bought separetly will come to about €135!! What a bargain. Honestly, I'd much prefer one of these than a San Martin. Amazing by Cestrian. I think they will give Erebus a run for the money :)
That grey dial is the winner. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. A perfect gift for yourself or pretty much anyone into watches. The bracelet is even different enough to set it apart from a regular oyster or jubilee. Plus this would look great on a NATO with that short L2L. Thanks for the review!
This one does look interesting. Funny I had my ‘Master’ Series on yesterday and it is nice for the money. Great that the black gem has gone from the crown, but feel it could be further improved if logo was recessed rather than proud. The brand name not the greatest IMO.
I bought the green version and I can tell you that I will be wearing it 'in the field'. Being a scout leader, this will be my go to for outdoors. I have a Lorus lumibrite on a nato, which is great but when the strap gets wet, it stays wet, also, it can melt in the fire! So, my Cestrian will be used as intended and I'm really looking forward to wearing it. Great review as always Jody. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Nice. I'm building watches from eBay parts, NH35 movements. I'm building something like that. Getting tired of dive style watches. If I SCUBA dive I wear a G Shock. If I need a kitchen timer I use a Casio Royale or G Shock. I'm liking the field watch style.
Same clasp as my Phoibos Wavemaster… Yes - I still own my series 1 and it is one of my keepers! This watch could be the one to go and stay in my collection too.
Well done Cestrian👍 Design is spot on for me, that green is something you don't see very often an I really like it. I don't mind the clasp at all, prefer rubber anyway. That's a fine Xmas gift.
Not really looking for a field watch, but not much to object to here, and I like the case profile (and even the high polish sides). Also like the slight shimmer the dial gives off in varying light. Not bad....
I have 2 cestrian watches. I also have tissot, thdor and certina. Cestrian is by far the best value and best lume! Its a hard to beat watch.. thanks Jodi, another great and very fair review..
Seems like it kind of scratches the same itch as a Hamilton Khaki or some more vintage styles of 60s/70s military field watches that are hard to find. Not sure if I'll go for it with this first iteration, but definitely one I'll keep on the radar.
I bought the gray when it first came out, loved it but kept eyeing the green one so I bought it when they went 20% off recently. Great value in a well built, attractive package.
I really like the field watch in the green dial. Normally I go for a black dial field watch, but that green really works. There was one more there line that I really liked in a champagne dial. I also like the master series V2 with the champagne dial I’m really starting to dig watches without bezels
Incredible value, white diver on their website is very clean. Just wish the font was a little smaller - not that everything should conform to Rolex, but... no one should print their name bigger than the King...
Nice look, nice quality, nice price… it is definitely… nice. I wish I could get excited about field watches but categorically they’re the style in which I’m least interested. But if I were this would be a good choice. Cheers!
This looks really good and the price is awesome. Looks like it laughs in the face of my Hamilton Khaki, with it's 50m WR and 592€ MSRP :D - even if you'd have to be pretty loose with your cash to buy a Hamilton at MSRP. The only real drawback is that thickness - 12,5mm vs 9,5mm is a fair difference. Sure, the Hamilton comes with a "Swiss" movement - but how much of that is actually Swiss made I don't know. And regardless, does even that matter? When these cheap mechanicals break or wear out, their repairs are quite expensive. With the Seiko at least, you can get a whole new movement for like 30-50€ and swap it in.
I like this, especially the case shape, even if a mostly polished field watch is bound to be a scratch magnet if you use it as intended. Can't argue with the value though, seems like this brand is one of the few outside of Ali still doing high quality NH35 builds for under 300 USD... along with Erebus of course!
Nice watches at a very reasonable price point. Interesting dichotomy though talking about a UK brand with pricing in pounds sterling while wearing a Texas Christian University T-shirt. Does Cestrian have a horned-frog connection?
Two things immidately come to mind with this brand. 1. The shield logo looks like they ripped from Clash of Clans 2. The name is so close to Pedestrian (in my ears at least) Also undercutting themselves on eBay is 🤷♂️
Haha sorry Jody. But it manages to surprise me a little when you said it has NH35 and it has 12.5mm thickness. I always think that it is hard (and expensive) to make a case that thin for NH35.
Hard to argue with the offerings from these guys at the price….. I’d love to see a GMT model. For A three hander they’re not for me personally, but good job all round.
Hi, thanks your your support . I think you're right too. Hence us launching the brand to occupy the pricepoint that’s been vacated by them and a few other brands too .
I'm not exactly sure what makes this a 'field' watch? It is a nice looking timepiece (love the green), but certainly doesn't seem to have the rugged simplicity that defines the type. The crown sticks out and is unguarded, the crystal is flush with the bezel, offering no incidental protection, and the finish is very refined. Definitely looks more like a desk or pub piece, as you said. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't see this surviving any time in the 'wild' without the crown getting snagged on something or the crystal getting scratched. For less money, and probably from the same country of origin as the Cestrian, I'd rather go with the titanium Baltany or Boderry field watches.
I bought the gray one right away. First time I ever bought a newly released watch. In my opinion, the best value automatic field watch on sale! (Edit). Oh I forgot to add, they sized mine before shipping it!
Yes I would have been all over this a few years back, an affordable legible automatic watch with a sapphire lens and a screw-crown, but watch lovers have been spoilt for choice with everything that this watch has to offer for a long time, I think it should do well though, maybe for those that have not yet heard of Baltany or Aliexpress.
the mosquito - it must have a secret meaning.....like maybe when Erebus comes out with a hi beat field watch , all these pieces will be crushed!!! like the second hand too.
an epitome of form before function. but the crown seems to be too exposed. i feel like it's liable to catch on stuff like the cuff of a shirt or something like that.
Hey, thank you for sharing your feedback; we appreciate it. We are always looking to take onboard customer feedback as we look to improve our designs as we evolve. We will take a look at this next production run. For re-assurance though, as it's a screw down crown, it’s pretty secure. Cheers, Dave
Buying a watch from a brand with a good and long reputation, not to mention history heritage and prestige should be very important to everyone especially when spending one’s hard earned money and therefore if it doesn’t have a brand name on the dial with a good long reputation history heritage and prestige it’s not worth spending your hard earned money on. That’s just my opinion. However, y would you wanna buy a watch from a brand that doesn’t have all those qualities and characteristics when you can buy a watch from a brand that does have all those qualities and characteristics it just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s like buying a car and the dealer is like her would you like a free ten year bumper to bumper warranty with no strings attached? And he really means it and your just like :nah I’m good. It just doesn’t make any sense to be buying a watch from a micro brand imo. Not to mention the re sale value on ninety percent of them being absolutely horrible. Idk, to each their own I guess and I guess some ppl just enjoy being taken for their hard earned money and being taken advantage of in this world.
Hi ,thanks for your comment. I think it is worth explaining that each collection design is initiated by us, and we then work with our UK Watch designers to produce a bespoke design and colourways. There is a huge amount of back and forth until the design is approved ,and then we send this to our manufacturing partners to manufacture them ,and trust me the margins aren’t massive. Thanks Dave

🤣🤣 Naming no names, I quite agree with all of your objections.
Cough BREMONT cough
@@AnthonyBurtoni.e. ... cough cough ... Invicta = "Swiss Brand".
Agree and comment made me laugh.
I do like Zero West still though (but unlikely I will buy one) and they do not all have bits of plane in them 😂
CW has had special editions with parts of period aircraft, hasn't deterred me from buying.

Just received the field version in grey, absolutely worth the money. Can’t go wrong looking at those specs & design for that small price - with some originally!
4:56 CF code is the model number, under that is the individual serial number.
I managed to get my hands on two Cestrians earlier in the year. The build quality is off the charts. I deeply regret selling them.
This is mental, how can they make any profit on these as they ae so cheap? I just checked and its on sale for €138.95, all the parts bought separetly will come to about €135!! What a bargain. Great that the black gem has gone from the crown, but feel it could be further improved if logo was recessed rather than proud.

Great design on both the dress and field watches. Simple, clean and classic. I only wish they came in 38 or 36 mm case sizes. 😕
I bought the green version and I can tell you that I will be wearing it 'in the field'. Being a scout leader, this will be my go to for outdoors. Green One Looks good!!! Nice Horned Frogs Shirt!!!
Already have one of the Master series, tempted with this especially with the buying advice.
Feels like a throwback to the early days of the channel when you were reviewing lots of built-to-a-price Orients and such.
Not really looking for a field watch, but not much to object to here, and I like the case profile (and even the high polish sides). Also like the slight shimmer the dial gives off in varying light. Not bad....

Love this piece which i didnt expect. Put it on a MN strap and it is getting a lot of wrist time. I got the blue dial.
Great designs, I'd happily rock a Cestrian.
Hi Jody, will you review the San Martin S0121T? It is a Tudor Pelagos homage in true titanium, it looks pretty promising I think. 😮
Seems like it kind of scratches the same itch as a Hamilton Khaki or some more vintage styles of 60s/70s military field watches that are hard to find. Not sure if I'll go for it with this first iteration, but definitely one I'll keep on the radar.

Mine has turned up. Gorgeous. Besides it seems to have been pretty decently regulated with a 0/+2 secs a day. Hat off to this brand so far.😊
The Master series V1 auto, with NH35,self/manual winding, screw down crown,100m WR,316L, sapphire crystal, for $143 is an absolute bargain

Ordered the Green V2 Divers should arrive at some point today, quite excited to see what it's like.
that hand combo is just *chef's kiss* simple and legible
It just works. 👍
Reminds me a lot of the pagani design pd1717 (and by proxy the longines spirit). Definitely a more considered case shape though
Funny this video came out because I just purchased the Seiko on Amazon for $174 US Love it!!!
Great watch for the price plus 2 years warranty 👍
Cestrian are great for the price , good quality watches . i own two , well happy .
Buy it you will not be disappointed .Im going for this one .
Incredible value, white diver on their website is very clean. Just wish the font was a little smaller - not that everything should conform to Rolex, but... no one should print their name bigger than the King...
😅I see a Longines design in it. Not a bad thing...
Too bad, the delivery costs are about €32, almost 20% of the price of the watch to The Netherlands.
Solid looking watch for the price 👍
Good video. Love the TCU shirt. (Go Horned Frogs!) I live in Ft Worth. 😁
Dr. Jody gives such a succinct and balanced perspective on all of his watch reviews. I liked this watch.
It's an advert, not a review. He got paid by the sponsor of the video.
I’ll wait for the Erebus Field 😉
Nice look, nice quality, nice price… it is definitely… nice. I wish I could get excited about field watches but categorically they’re the style in which I’m least interested. But if I were this would be a good choice. Cheers!
I wish the two main hands had more personality but the overall package is stellar!
Can’t go wrong really for the price they are asking and have played it very safe with the design
PHARK ... Seiko prices have gone through the roof irecently ... some of the prices are double what I paid just a few years ago
Chester is quite near to me, I almost feel a local allegiance to this brand.. might eventually cave in and buy one
Do it! I cannot afford the local watches 😞
This looks really good and the price is awesome. I just got my German car to run like a Swiss watch after rebuilding the carb. Unfortunately the interior clock has stopped.
Haha sorry Jody. But it manages to surprise me a little when you said it has NH35 and it has 12.5mm thickness.
I always think that it is hard (and expensive) to make a case that thin for NH35.
Looks like a Explorer.. which a Good Thing..
Hard to argue with the offerings from these guys at the price….. I’d love to see a GMT model. For A three hander they’re not for me personally, but good job all round.
Im liking these a lot. Further proof that Seiko is no longer the watch company of the people

Hamilton field have no crown protection, same as Timex et al
Jody, I do wish you would give Aragon a review….. their latest EVO 40mm at $160 is great quality and spec. Be brave!
TCU! I wasn't expecting to see you wearing a shirt with such a local college to me on it. Small world.
I think it's a great looking watch and i got they Make a few more colors. Bright colors is in
I bought the gray one right away. First time I ever bought a newly released watch. In my opinion, the best value automatic field watch on sale! (Edit). Oh I forgot to add, they sized mine before shipping it!
Hey J… what’s up with the TCU shirt? Do I need to send ya a UT Longhorns tee? 😉 great vid btw…
Ha! The UTC shirt was indeed sent by a subscriber a few years ago.
I just learnt of the Traska gmt, why didn't you review that watch before the blue one sold out :( its so beautiful
Not bad at all 👍
Until now an unknown brand to me. Cestrian are one of the most interesting watches in a long time.
Spinnaker definitely have a strong competitor here!
I would have liked you to have changed out the bracelet with a few other options, but great review as usual.
Good price and seems like a value for money. Too busy dial for my taste.
It looks great in every way to me. Coincidentally, I'm wearing a Heimdallr at the moment with what appears to be the exact same clasp.
Great watch 😊
I've got the master series on my christmas list for this year. Here's hoping Santa's listening!
This reminds me of the new Seiko 5 Field GMT that was released today! *Except it costs 60% less :)
Looks pretty nice though eh? Hoping for sapphire, but expecting Hardlex 🤦
@@JustOneMoreWatch It does look nice, but TBH I don't see a point of a field GMT. It does have a Hardlex crystal, of course...
I like it! Thanks Jody!
the mosquito - it must have a secret meaning.....like maybe when Erebus comes out with a hi beat field watch , all these pieces will be crushed!!! like the second hand too.
H.G.P monnin cased diver reissue when J?
Are there any pocket watches out there you could review?
an epitome of form before function. but the crown seems to be too exposed. i feel like it's liable to catch on stuff like the cuff of a shirt or something like that.

150 Pound Sterling..? That’s $300 aud. Of course you can find a Seiko for less than that. If you live in Australia 🇦🇺. In the UK… different story.
Dial is too busy for me and short lug to lug makes it look a little stubby. Great value though......
Nice no frills watch.
Love the T shirt! Go frogs!
These 'brands' just choose a watch from catalogue and have their brand printed on the dial. Even at the 'low' price of $150 the margins are massive.
Hi ,thanks for your comment. I think it is worth explaining that each collection design is initiated by us, and we then work with our UK Watch designers to produce a bespoke design and colourways. Great watch for the money
So what’s up with the TCU tee shirt? How do you even know what that is?
I was thinking the exact same thing. 😂
Jody 'there's been a murder' Taggart 😂 as for the watch , erm its cheap is all I can say
Certainly better value than most Seikos.
What’s up with the Texas Christian University t-shirt? From a subscriber? Just curious.
Value watch for sure!
