    0:02 Zepbound is blowing Mounjaro out of the water?? They’re the exact same drug. 😑
    Just different labeling, and MJ is indicated for T2D, while Zep’s indicated for weight-loss.
    Rest of vid was good. Could’ve mentioned the Zepbound savings card Eli Lilly will be offering.

    • @DrMitchRice
      @DrMitchRice  5 місяців тому +4

      Exact same drug. Different patient population for the trials! Very different results looking into the data

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster 5 місяців тому

      @DrMitchRice Different results due to different patient populations does not change the fact that it’s the *same* drug (as you yourself just acknowledged ).
      You’re just stuck in an apples-to-oranges comparison. 🍎 🍊
      Sure, obese ppl *without* T2D lose considerably more weight on average w/these meds than ppl with T2D. That’s the only reason for Zep (again, *same* drug) having better results than Mounjaro.
      But, a big ‘so what’... because if you were to put a group of T2D ppl on Zepbound, and a group of non-T2D ppl on Mounjaro, the Mounjaro group would lose a LOT more weight… thus ‘blowing Zepbound out of the water’. 😯
      See how skewed that is?
      It’s the same exact drug (tirzepatide), so neither is truly more effective than the other, since both will have the same results when given to the same patient population. 🤷‍♂️
      Now, if you want to say that Zepbound is more effective than Ozempic/Wegovy - which are the same drug as each other as well (semaglutide), Wegovy just comes in a higher top dose - then YES, there are studies to support *that,* even in an apples-to-apples (aka fair) comparison. That part is true. 👌
      But Zep’s *not* more effective than MJ. Same person taking either at the same dose will experience the same results. ✅

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 5 місяців тому +8

      @@DrMitchRiceThe same results happened when they tested mounjaro. They found out about the weight loss during those tests, which is why they eventually tried to get it approved for weight loss under a different brand...and succeeded.
      I agree with the op here. It's your wording in the video that's way off. Listing three drugs, then saying Zepbound blows them all away is a really odd way to describe it since the first two are the exact same drug and the third is the exact same as this new one. There may be 4 names, but it's just 2 drugs. For people who don't know this, starting the video out like this does a disservice.

    I'm T2D and Mounjaro has been a life saver for me. I've only been on it for 4 months and it has already massively lowered my A1C, it has normalized my blood pressure and I've lost 30+ pounds. Will I need to keep taking it? Definitely. Mounjaro is substituting GLP-1 where my body was failing to natural produce this hormone, so just like using bio-identical hormones... if I want it I will have to add it to my system.

I was put on testosterone gel and told to lose weight, I started a weight loss program with the VA called Move! and I'm told I will be put on Zepbound, I am really hoping to fix the high blood pressure and all the other issues. Based on what I just saw, getting back to my 20's body with lifting weights and watching the diet seems within reach. On another note, yeah I have depression and I am on anti depressents. Though I do not personally need to lose weight, I have family and friends who might benefit from this. I would like to see insurance (including government plans) cover it, since obesity is such a tremendous indicator for diabetes and cardiovascular disease, in addition to kidney, liver, hormonal and joint problems. It makes economic sense for them to take a pro-active stance to reduce obesity. Now it's Christmas time, and I'm wishing the government would make sense. 🌟

      I am on Disability and have Medicare and Medicaid (Forward Health) I live in WI and I recently started doing research to see if my type of Medicaid covers weight loss medication and it does, as long as certain conditions are met. All required a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 with certain other medical conditions. Depending on which medication the Doctor prescribed, there were things like you must lose a certain % of weight within the first 3 months or have not gained weight from your starting weight. If the criteria is not met, then they won't continue to cover it and you have to wait 6montbs to try it again. You basically get 2 "tries" in your lifetime of each medication. The real issue is also finding a Doctor to prescribe them. I gained a lot of weight after a foot injury, surgeries on it and complications that left me unable to be as active as I once was. I started emotional eating and now my BMI has sky rocketed to 32. I do also have other medical conditions, thanks to genetics. The ONLY way I could get a weight loss medication, is for the medication called Contrave. The manufacturer's website has a link called GetContrave, which you then fill out a questionnaire (which ANYONE could easily lie on) and then you're supposed to have a telehealth/video call with an online prescriber. In my case, I literally was just sent an email saying that in my state the prescriber didn't have to communicate directly with me, and that they supposedly reviewed my questionnaire and I was approved. I had to pay $45 to get a prescription sent to their mail order pharmacy (which would have been ok if I'd actually had a video call or some form of communication directly with the provider, all I have is her name from the email) and the medication costs $99 a month, as they don't file insurance. I've been on it for almost 2 weeks and do not like the insomnia side effects, as I already had bad insomnia to begin with. I'd like to try something different, but Dr's around where I live "don't believe in prescribing weight loss medications". I don't know how else to get a prescription for a different medication to try. That's the best info I can give you. You'll have to look up the exact government assistance insurance they have and see if these medications are covered or call the insurance company themselves.

      @@roachy211 I am down about 42 pounds! It's defiantly a give and take for me personally! I've had far less side effects with zepbound when titrating up aside from consistent bloating- but I also don't feel like it's as effective as long. I still deal with food noise- I'm just not feral, but I still think about food quite a bit. Just better able to control binge eating which is where most of my calories come from. When I eat I can eat a normal amount of food and feel full longer. If I eat at 8pm and wake up at 7am I can still feel that fullness from the night before. Mentally I still WANT to eat- I just can't bc of fullness. On Wegovy- I had to actually schedule when I ate because I was forgetting to eat- and I ate less on top of it because I can actually feel the food hit my stomach and it's quick at that lol! Food was a non factor and that felt great! I rarely ever got cravings for anything and just enjoyed what I did eat. My favorite part was not having to think about food. Being in a place where my body can honestly forget about it allowed me to make better, not in the heat of the moment choices. I'm not particularly a bad eater- in moderation most of my food is actually healthy and the only meat I eat is fish- but I am in fact a volume eater unfortunately when it comes to binges. - All that to say regardless of the fact that I personally prefer wegovy- I'm doing miles better with my health with zepbound than I would on my own and if you can get your hands on it and your doctor thinks it's okay for you to take I would!

      Wrong. They are actually recommending that patients will stay on a maintenance dose of this medication. I am 6 kg from my goal weight and expect to be on a low dose of this for the rest of my life. Obesity is a chronic condition. You would not expect an asthmatic to only take their preventative while in an acute phase. Or someone with chron’s to only take their meds when having a flare up. The same goes for obesity meds in this class.

Not sure what is so different about staying in this medication and others staying on medication because of chronic disease. Obesity is a chronic disease. I hope that once I reach goal I can taper down to a manageable dose and spread out jnjections.

      That's just flat out a very ignorant way to think about it. Diet and exercise doesn't actually work for everybody. Putting the fork down also doesn't work for everyone either. It's not that easy for some to just have the willpower. Genetics plays a huge role in a person's weight with diabetes and insulin resistance being just two examples. Most times, you can't fight against that. There's also the brain aspect. When you eat, hormones in your stomach sends signals to your brain telling you your full and to stop eating. (He touched on this briefly in the video.) Many people have an imbalance of this, or it just doesn't work right at all. Such as me. I would eat a plateful of food and go back for more because I was still hungry. An hour later, I would be hungry again. This drug completely solves that signal loss I had.
