I left a super long rambly comment but I’ll just write a paragraph. As an ex heroin addict who’s dabbled quite a bit in benzos, I’m appalled by how gaba drugs are prescribed so much to non addicts who have no clue what they’re getting into. Like I said my main drugs were opiates and I’d take being addicted to and withdrawing from opiates any day of the week over benzos. Like other commenters said the gaba probably stopped the benzo healing process from healing completely but gabapentin is a weird ass drug I hope to be off soon and videos like yours make me want to get off asap. Hope you’re doing well and fully healed, I know what it’s like to go through WD after WD and it’s 100x worse when you don’t know what to expect, the medical system is completely broken. Godbless
My story is almost the exact same. Years of benzo withdrawals that were a living hell. Finally thought I'd give another medication a chance and tried gabapentin, only been on it for a week and already feeling panicked and shaking and shaky vision when I miss even an hour of a dose. Stopping tomorrow and not looking forward to this at all. Trying to stay positive. I'm heartbroken. I hope you're doing a lot better :( !!! These drugs are so dangerous. It blows my mind.
Lorna I am in same boat too. Dr prescribed gaba and Prozac to help with my benzo withdrawal. I’m afraid to take either of them. I was to start today. I’m scared and confused. How are you today?
@@BabyChili1 I would avoid gabapentin if I were you, i can't see how it would be helpful - more hurtful than anything. Prozac MIGHT help but honestly in my experience nothing really helped the benzo withdrawals but time. I will say it does get better and your brain will heal itself you just have to have faith and let time do the healing. I found breathing exercises to be helpful, as well as hot showers/baths, calming teas, and CBD products. I also found omega-3 supplements and magnesium to be helpful as well as ginger and tumeric teas. When I say helpful though I mean helpful to get through the shittiness, nothing but time will take it away completely. You're going to be okay- just remember that it gets better and won't be like this forever. And a word of personal advice (although please also follow up with ur doctor as I am not one), throwing more medications at a chemically induced problem just makes it harder for your brain to heal and gives you more medications to come off of afterwards. Trust yourself and do your own research on things, i find a lot of doctors really have no idea how certain medications work (which is kinda scary tbh). I wish you all the best!!! You've got this.
Hugs! Thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry you're back to the struggle. I am also tapering Gabapentin, after 15 yrs. I hit tolerance, they added benzo. Then I hit tolerance to that! Not one doc even mentioned tolerance. I'm 1 yr off benzo and at 4mg 3xday. It's a rough journey.
Dear Becca, you are so deserving of support as we all are. I'm with you. I will pray for you. I have my own situation as I want to get off of .25 mg klonopin (on .5 mg for 6 mos. and .25 for 6-7 mos.). Take 300 mg. gabapentin for essential tremor 1-3 daily and thought it could help me w/draw and sleep better but your video and others on sites make me concerned about the gabapentin. Oh boy oh boy. Drugs are not always the best route in life. I will pray you have an easy/easier and complete recovery. You're a great person.
I'm so sorry hun, sending you love and light. You look beautiful and hang in there. I'm glad you have a good doctor!!! Me too my primary is fantastic. Thank you for always helping others. I'm almost 2 years off and suffer like you. So sad wish it would go away. 😭😭😭 Your videos mean so much.
I'll pray for you my sister. I'm on my fight for life with Clonazepam. Down to 0.5mg from 1mg. The hardest part starts now on the lower does. God bless you. God bless us all 🙏
Went from 2mgs to some librium doses that I now know were the equivalent to around .5 dose. The worst part is the first couple of weeks but I did this in jail and although jail SUCKS...I didn't have to work, drive or really do anything. Everyone is different but I know you'll get there, man. I'm around 15 months off and feel so much better. Covid also was kind of good for me considering everyone was stuck at home anyway. Unfortunately I can't drink the way I could but I suppose that's also fortunate. At 25 it seems like that's all anyone wants to do at social gatherings
I literally left the ‘Benzo Community’ after continuously getting a hard time for explaining to people within it how adding other ‘things’ into the mix whilst can cause more problems. Nobody listens. Then… they end up where you now are… 🤷🏼♂️ But for saying such in advance, I became ‘the bad guy’. So now I just don’t bother anymore.
Hi Becca, how are you doing now? Would you mind sharing some of the research? I’m going thru gabapentin withdrawal currently and don’t have the bandwidth to find it. Thank you for sharing your story, it really helps ❤
Hi Becca Im so sorry your not feeling well! Im 51 and was put on 1mg of klonopin for 14 months for panic attacks and health anxiety. Went to 0.75mg for a month, now .5mg for the next month. Im trying to fight through this, not easy. Now my doctor wants me to go on 300mg of gabapentin. Im very reluctant to go on it, after watching your video I really don't want to take it, and just make it through this taper. I truly hope you feel better! I will be praying for you for a recovery. When you can please let me know how you are currently doing God Bless Michael
I know this is old but I hope you didn’t go on it. Gabapentin is a super weird drug, some people taper off massive doses and just feel a little uncomfortable, some people take tiny doses for a couple months and go through hell
My dr didnt want to put me on gabapentin after i have developed neuralgia pain from ativan withdrawal, she said it will also mess up my brain and prolong what I am going through already, praying all the time for healing
When I was in my first rehab in 1993 they want you off of all drugs. Now they want you off your drugs and they put you on their drugs. I told a friend of mine that you have to be off all drugs to achieve sobriety he would say you don't know more than the doctors. Sad to say he's dead. I'm sober 21 years. The problem with doctors and addiction doctors only know how to prescribed.
I’m going through this now!!!!! I’m in Hell. I’m tapering off 800 . Every week going down 200. I’m going to lose my Job. I’m angry I even got on this stupid drug. Do you still have speech problems. I pray this all ends soon
I’ve been off benzos for four years my doctor put me on gabapentin for neuropathy in my feet I took the gabapentin one night and it sent me back into what I felt like withdrawal from the benzo’s so I’m not gonna take gabapentin.
It sounds like Gabapentin interfered with your body’s ability to heal completely from the Benzo (since it increases Gaba), and what you are feeling is actually a continuation of unresolved benzo withdrawal. I’ve come to this conclusion from personal experience. Good luck, and hope this helps.
Gaba is such a weird drug, alcohol completely makes up for it for me but I still feel a weird half withdrawal when I take Xanax. I initially took gaba after a surgery and then started using it to get off drinking everyday for a couple weeks and to be upfront I did abuse it for awhile cause it’s over the counter where I am and went to taking a really high dose cause the medical sites I was on really downplayed how addictive it is. I started tapering from a super high dose and was fine until I almost halved it and woke up one day after going down too fast and felt like I was dope sick which scared me and even when I took it again at the halved dose I felt off for a couple days. Now when I take it, it makes me feel high but I have too much to do to do a more rapid taper. Luckily I’ve only been on it at most a month a half but at this point I might just take a couple shots at night as part of my dose and rapidly taper cause I really don’t want to be on this drug. My withdrawals really aren’t that bad except for that one day but I’d rather be on a drug that I know what it will do rather than this weird ass drug that’s wildly unpredictable and has horror stories all over the internet
