I have a 2016 Commander 800xt the same color as yours. I had to replace the hose clamps on the engine as I could smell antifreeze and my coolant level kept getting low. This seems to be a problem for Can Am as they use crimp style clamps. I also wear ear plugs when I ride as the engine noise is pretty loud. We don't have to wear a helmet where I live. Also the engine heat doesn't bother me too much as I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the heat of the summer is pretty short here. I enjoy your videos.

Thank you for that tip, I’ll definitely be looking into the coolant problem

I just purchased a 2020 commander max DPS, I can’t wait to get it!

The regular plastics are softer so they will scratch fairly easy as do atvs , my commander is the camo colour which was a $800 option (2012) but is a hard shell coating and after years of bush wacking there are very little signs of scratches and it is not because the camo hiding them .I show no mercy when it comes to woods travel.

I have a 2015 1000 xt and had all issues you mention now shes in the shop because it wont go into high gear and when you put it in reverse it wants to go forward. I took cable directly of the transmission to see if it might have been just the cable but nope its something going on inside so estimate to fix it is anywhere from 2300 to 3500 bucks. Bike has 3400 km on it

That’s brutal, I’m very cautious when I shift gears, plus I change the gearbox oil more often than spec. Hopefully I don’t come across those issues

@@CommanderOutdoors It's always best to be completely stopped before shifting, as there are no syncroes in the transmission.

Just a little note, low is not for slow riding. Low is for riding that is strenuous. You can ride “slow” in high for hours and it will not effect the belt at all. It’s when you start adding strain to the drivetrain Hills, rocks, mud, hauling or towing. This is what low gear is for. You do not have to be in low just because you drive slow. Just saying. Love the colors on the mx. Wish they had that in the max for 2020.

Do you use to cover up the scratches

The heat is sometimes unbearable. The cable shifter is absolutely annoying. I’ve shifted into gear and gone up to 50km and hour and then hear that dreaded noise. When out in the bush. Far from anyone a broken tranny is not wanted. I wish can am would just offer a recall on it or someone post a video of how to adjust it. I’m not mechanically inclined but I have sub 1500km on my 1000r and it’s just bullshit that a 35k machine would do that in even break in period. Love the machine. The quirks can put me off. Don’t put anything you want cold in the cup holders. It’ll boil in about 20 minutes of moderate load

Would this be similar to a 2020 commander 800? Thanks.

As far as shit going wrong it's all in how you drive it.If your Constantly hitting the throttle the belt will go,in mud alot bearings will go.

Coolent leeks are normal for Can Am, even the 2023s do it. The clamps they use are garbage and have been for a decade or more. They seep just enough to smell it

Use vegetable oil on the plastics instead of armor all.

Armor all causes the plastic to whiten after it wears off. Vegetable oil rehydrates the plastic, keeps it like new!

i have a 2019 limited max, does your cvt whine/whistle really loud in low gear and when driving fast in high??

    • @CommanderOutdoors

It whines when I’m reving at high rpm in low, but I can’t really notice anything when I’m in high gear

@@CommanderOutdoors man mine screams like a turbo going above 30 mph in high and any speed in low. Brand new belt too. I just bought the machine now im somewhat discouraged

They all do it. It’s the clutches that make the whistle sound
