This is our #DayInTheLife We do the best we can to follow our #DailySchedule and stay in routine as a family but obviously we want to live our best lives which comes with some spontaneity too! 🙃 This is just a little picture of what our "normal day" looks like but can I be honest? Few days ACTUALLY look like this! We actually had to film this "day in the life" over 2 days because of complications! We definitely stay busy, prioritize the most important things and do our best to make the most of each moment! Our little family is growing and while we have things we gotta get done, we also don't want to miss out while we still have our babies so little! ❤

Connecting with the Carnahans oh yes I definitely know how that goes!! We have to be so flexible as parents!!! But some structure is so helpful, and kids thrive on routine for sure

Love it. I'm about to have 2 under 2. I'm due next week with #2 and my first will be 22 months old but he seems a lot more "baby" than your little guy. Doesn't have those communication skills yet. He has plenty of words but still gets really frustrated at times and I know communication would help. I know he's going to have a language explosion real soon! Would love to see a video on how you handled having a newborn and a young toddler. For instance... What did you do with him when you had to tend to your newborn? Between breastfeeding, diaper blowout, tantrums and jealousy... I don't know how I'm going to do it! 🥴
I guess my request is more around independent play. Christian seems to do well at it as a first born... mine does not. :/ he's at my feet after 5 minutes of independent play (and me doing chores) begging me to hold him. :(
Hi Sarah! Congrats on your new baby! What an exciting time for your family! Yes - a video juggling the two would be great! I sure wish we were already vlogging then but it's definitely on the list when we have another sweet babe! To answer a few of your questions, I tried to incorporate my toddler into what I was doing, or at least engage with him verbally as often as possible. For example, if the baby was sleeping in her bed and then woke up and began crying, I would look at my toddler and say, "Do you hear that? That's Sissy crying. That means she needs our help. Let's go and see how we can help her! Come join me!" and most of the time he would. It was a lot of talking TO my toddler about what I was doing with the baby.
You will totally do it, Mama! Don't you worry! It's surprising how you naturally and instinctively get into a groove pretty darn quickly! It's like your body goes into survival mode and just figures it out! I just had a few rules of thumb for example: If I don't want my toddler in it, it needs to be out of reach so I don't CREATE more battles for myself (i.e. blow outs or diaper changes in general). Jealousy is real and understandable. There is a great tune from Daniel Tiger that the parents sang to Daniel when his new baby sister came home and it was "There's time for you and baby too!" - We hadn't seen it yet when our baby first came home but ever since we saw it, we've continued to use it!
As far as independent play goes, something we did with Christian was sitting down and playing WITH him, give him adequate warning, "Mama is going to slides the cars down the hill 2 more times and then Mama is going to go do the dishes." For a while, he would just come with me and I'd, again, incorporate him in the task (strip him down and let him play in the sink). YES, it takes more time BUT it helps to form tighter bonds, builds a positive relationship and at the end of the day, I look for every excuse possible to say "YES" because toddlers will definitely give you every reason (and then some) to say no!

Does your makeup get on your baby’s clothes? I don’t use my makeups now since my foundation always rubs off staining my baby’s clothes.
Is your Etsy business how you’re able to support your family and husband going to med school? It looks like you only have to work for about 3 hours a day. If so, that’s pretty amazing.
I aspire to do the same thing and maybe start a n Etsy business in the future. Have you considered making videos with advice for how to start and run a business like yours?
Love your routine.our little guy gets up at 530 and that’s an improvement. My husband is an early riser and also never slept past 530. So we have to adjust lol! Unfortunately the me- time has to be creative and is sometimes meager.
