Love the use of a wood stove far more efficient than a fireplace!

I love the porches. The barn doors for the pantry and back hall have outlived their "trendiness" and limit the use of wall spaces. Pocket doors are useful when a swinging door won't work, but they tend to be less private and secure, and they're not needed for this bedroom.

    BEAUTIFUL! ❤
    Needs 3 things though.
1- replace the windows in the dining area with doors to access the porch. Dont want traffic in the bedroom and it would be easier than the going around the long way through the front door to get to the porch. 😉
2- a real fireplace instead of the wood stove. I just like to see the fire. 😁
3- an attached 2 car garage with a work area on the back of the house with access through the laundry.
    FANTASTIC JOB!
    ✌😎

There are wood stove models with windows to see the flames. Wood stoves are more energy efficient than a fireplace, where the majority of the heat goes up the chimney. I can hear the crackling, see the flames, even get a bit of wood smoke aroma in the house when I open the door to put in more wood. My little stove heats my entire 1800 sf house. I’ll take a stove over a fireplace any day, as it is a more practical choice.

What a magnificent home this is at 1400 sq ft! There is only one thing missing that I want and that’s a 3rd bedroom. When the grands come, we are 9 and upon occasion, 12. Kids can sleep in Murphy beds, sofas and in sleeping bags on soft carpet, but we adults need those 3 beds, 2 queens and 1 queen XL (son is 6’5”). Oh please design one similar with 3-4 bedrooms! We can sleep kids in a loft that has a ceiling that is at least 6’ tall.

I wonder what the total cost estimate is for this beautiful dream home for a retired couple

As much as I enjoy the renditions of these home designs with lots of outdoor living amenities, no one seems to understand the maintenance and cleaning burden that outdoor space would be! Do you readers, watchers, and commenters ever think of that?

I agree and they would only be of use for limited times of the year where I live. Would prefer at least a screened in porch or make it into an interior space for a library/office space

With a powerful Milwaukee leaf/dirt blower and a small ryobi pressure washer you will change your mind!

@@Liz_S702 But there is still manual labor involved in that. It’s a constant necessity to cleanup before use, imo.

The wood stove should have a firewall behind it. Those windows by the dining table really do need to be doors.

Only 2 bedrooms for a 1400 sq. ft. home seems like such a waste of space. A three bedroom brings a lot more in resale value! I do love some of the farmhouse touches within the house, like the barndoors, and that outside porch area is to die for. I absolutely love a big porch, especially having access from the master, living and perhaps one of the other two bedrooms. Like for me I'd like the usage of the porch area from say an office area as well as the master and living room!

It really depends on the buyers. Especially for empty nesters. I prefer two bedrooms

Never been a fan of a house on a slab. If you ever have plumbing problems or want to remodel it will cost a fortune in concrete. I would lose the window to the left of the dishwasher in the kitchen and put a wall oven there with storage above and slide in underneath for a microwave. I wouldn’t need that much outdoor space and would use some of that space to add an office or extra living space. And I would lose those sliders in the front bedroom. That would be a safety issue to me. And I would prefer a shower in the master bath. Better for aging in place.
