THANK YOU mezzomanUK for posting this! Very best interview I've seen on Dusty. The interviewer asked questions about her MUSIC and unique artistry. Glad Dusty stated that she felt her voice was a gift. Always wondered if she knew how great her voice was. Dusty was modest. She worked really hard in the studio on her recordings to perfect her sound. Of course no need for her to be O.C.D. about it as we know when she sang live she sounded perfect already. Had an amazing ear for music. Could sing anything as well. Thank you Dusty for the treasure of vocal performances you gave to us.

She more or less produced her own songs, unheard of for a woman in those days. The greatest.

My niece just passed away with Breast Cancer at 44years old. How horrible, no one should have to die from this. RIP Dusty, the world misses you still.

Agreed, the interviewer knew about music and had justifiable confidence. Very sad though. Dusty to my ears, as a songwriter singer and producer myself, had the best voice. She had great power but her softer singing revealed the gift, and it was a tremendous, colossal gift. She made a lot of good records. Her voice could change someone's life. I wish she had worked with Phil Spector, or sung lead on some of the great American pop records of the early to mid 60's because they were so well produced. And imagine her on a Shangri Las record! I think she struggled a bit to get an r&b backing, but the records were really good anyway, and then ofcourse there is the Jerry Wexler LP. x ML

I have always thought Dusty and Spector would have made incredible records together, glad someone else has too! 🙌
