Scotch It! You scotch gods.
6:06 -7:00 I feel like you two represent most of us with how we would be trying to describe what we’re smelling and tasting.. Thank you for your testing.
excellent, thats what we're going for! thanks Longenecker1776!
I just bought my first bottle of American Single Malt, to give it a try. It’s a bottle of Westland American Oak, so they may have discontinued that, but it was still on the shelf here in Portland, Maine. I’m not sure if I like it, which is strange to say. It’s just very different from any Scotch I’ve ever tried. I’ll try a bottle of Westward before I decide whether I’m in or out on American Single Malts.
there are a broad range of flavors in American single malts. If you can find Balcones Mirador it's one of the best.
Also I loved the Full Metal Jacket reference. I came up with something now. This is my whiskey! This is my Gun! This one’s for nosing! This is for fun! 😂
Lol. Now that’s good
The Westland rep was great at my local Whiskey fest here in Buffalo. That Garryana is unique and after chatting for a minute he let me try it even though it was for the VIP ticket holders.
Boom. Great guy
We had one bottle of Westland and didn't love it. As such, we've not sought out anything additional from the line. For $50, this sounds like one to pick up and give a whirl. Cheers, fellas.
It’s good but different too
Yeah it does have some light peat influence with that 100 percent malted barley. I really like how its sort of a crossroads between Scotch, Bourbon and finsihed whiskey. Certainly unique hence the new category of American Single Malt. I really did this bottle and will be picking up a second one if its still on the shelf. I'm glad that a number of people don't care for it... more for me haha! 🤑
Omg I heard this sm is very good ....im from federal way Washington and this is one part of a giant underground single malt Northwest barley grain scene I'm in love with ....need more aged Stuff to come out
Not really but I wish it was
Bart agrees and loves the American Single Malts.
Wildly different from my experience!
I’ve prefer the older bottlings so far - the chocolate and coffee notes made it so unique. I got a few funky off notes from the new one but will have to try it again soon.
$80 from the distillery, btw.
👍
Hmm. No wonder my local Total Wine dropped the Heritage American single malt to $42. They’re clearing them
Out for this new bottling. If I can get Westland on sale I will. I had their Sherry finished one and it tasted like a younger sharper edged Scotch. A little brash and ornery.
6:50 This is why I try not to drink anything when I listen to your show. I almost blew coffee through my nose after Bart’s “speedo” comment. 😂
Lol. We need a caution warning
That's it!! American single malt's unique flavor: Evergreen Playdough.
It's not just Colorado or Seattle. It's in single malt from all over the country. Not a big fan. I prefer the cask strength options
👍
The sherry version has a great nose. The cask strength versions are crazy expensive. Visiting the tasting room in Seattle is awesome though.
"I'm doing some stuff I wanna do." Best.
Lol
I bought it yesterday for 55.
nice, thanks Art. Hope you enjoy it.
$70 plus tax in Michigan. For a sweet cola finish I'll stick with the Woodford Double Oak for $55. Thanks Dummies. (I guess I can put it on my xmas list...lol)
Bourbon bom like many barley malts these days, including modern scotch.
there are two aches in barts life that are rather pleasant than hurtful, them being the stache and the whiskystache.
Boom
The original Westland Single Malt might've been the SINGLE WORST whiskey I ever bought...ever ...no joke.
Wow really…I think Bart liked it…
@@ScotchTestDummies Yep, it was unforgettable.
Scotch is chess. Bourbon is checkers. American whiskey is tic-tac toe.
Quite an idiotic comment. Not all scotch is the same. Not all bourbon is the same. Scotch ranges from undrinkable to excellent. Bourbon ranges from undrinkable to excellent. The best selling scotch in Scotland is Famous Grouse. Famous Grouse is the worst whisky I have ever tasted in my life. Worse than any bourbon or other American whisky I have ever had.
@@richardbostan4286 I bet that you’re pretty good at checkers.
@@ccuellar6212 -- Pretty much the reply I expected. You never had any chance of being able to DEFEND what you said. "Oooh, Famous Grouse Scotch is so complex. So delicious. Puts bourbon to shame."
@@richardbostan4286 Ditto. Checkmate.
@@ccuellar6212- -You don't get to say "checkmate" when you have been defeated, so you clearly know even less about chess than you do about whisky.:)
