I am thankful for these creative people sharing their work! Hats off to you sirs. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
11:37 A slime mold!!!! So excited!
They are so cool :O
6:44 That is a snakefly, probably from the family Raphidiidae.
This channel should be reaching 1 million highly slept on channel better than must
Thank you
Wow look at thing grow and grow! I was honestly not as hyped about a European colony. Thinking it wouldn't have as many insects and diverse populations. Boy has this proved me wrong! This setup has so much potential and it's great to see how you are constantly trying to make sure that no one species becomes overly dominant. Like the nightmare slugs hordes in Thai vivarium.
Cant wait for the Next episode.
Thank you so much for this comment!
add woodlouse spiders if you can find some
Small species of ground dwelling spiders would do, just flip some rocks, they’re always around!
Like female ladybird spiders?
I love during the timelapses when you can see some young plants sprouting out from the soil and moving around to catch the sun
It is really something! They are alive :D
YES MORE, FINALLY, IVE BEEN AWAITING FOR SO LONG, MY GOD THE AMOUNT OF LIFE IS STAGGERING, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aww thank you!!
@@nordicants6232 no problem :), and i would suggest adding more plant life, for there are many critters who would appreciate it
This UA-cam channel is under rated.
Nooo I have what I deserve!! So far ;)
I love the salamanders!!
Me too!! :D
6:45 is a snakefly a predatory flying insect that dates back to the time of the dinosaurs they primarily live in forest canopies
Maybe add a woodlouse spider as they specialise in hunting isopods
Yesyes will! :D
Of god i fell in love with this channel....
For your woodlice, wolf spiders and zebra spiders/jumping spiders or nice active hunters.
Thank you!! Will get :D
There's woodlouse spiders
There a red color
Linepithema humile is known to feed on isopods if they have made their way into your region. Also gives you an excuse to add a new colony that grows incredibly fast.
That would be great but they are very territorial :,(
@@nordicants6232 Try breeding a group of garden centipedes to sustainable numbers within another vivarium then add them. Always a good idea to have breeding pairs of your base insects in case your numbers drop too low.
Some of the time lapses are simply amazing. Especially the one at 6:50 with the lighting. Keep up the good work!
Maybe you should try Venus flytraps, they may not be efficient but they’re pretty damn cool. Pitcher plant also works I have one and they’re very effective
Planning on introducing carnivorous plants! ;P
0:23 if that thing isn’t named a Leopard Slug, then I don’t know what will.
Hahahaha spot on! xD
I love your videos
I love you guys
Thanks
You can get Formica lemani or Formica cinerea, they feast on those isopods
Not compatible with camponotus species in a tank :((( would be great though
@@nordicants6232 Wait,there will be Camponorus?
Bogdan Radivojevic. There is already a camponotus species in the vivarium. Its camponotus fallax.
@@The_Mint2007 Cool!
DYSDERA CROCATA
Commonly known as “woodlouse spider” is what you are looking for. Or perhaps Dysdera erythrina, if you'd like a smaller species, but they are rarer. You're welcome.
Amazing. Your awesome’ this just brings back my child like Interest of small insects. Your an inspiration. I’m going create my own viv 😊
Thank you sir
Thank you so much!!! Love these comments
I have waited soooooooo long for another video, but it was really worth it!😉
Thank you
I live your videos! You are very knowledgeable about ants! My dad is friends with your mom Jessica!
Oh yes she told me about you!! Thank you :D if you want to stay in touch just give me an email nordic.ants@gmail.com hahaha and I can give you my personal contact info ;)
I love this I can't wait for next update on this
Thank you
No prob brother hope you are doing well
You could add tiger beetles to control the ant population
Not yet ;D next year!
Love your narrative style bro. it's like having your best mate explain all the cool shit in his room! xD. subbed. keep up the good work!
You should introduce dysdera spiders to hunt the isopodes, they eat almost exclusivelly isopodes
Ohh cool will check them out!
RETURN OF THE KING!!!
the white isopod you found definitely didn't just molt, because isopods mould one half at a time! Source: I keep isopods(specifically porcellio laevis & Armadilidium vulgare). That's just how its colored ^^ I'm no expert, but I think those 'pods in the shot u have are Oniscus asellus or some other oniscus sp?
Tip just in case: If you ever find a "bright blue" isopod in your vivarium, look up "iridovirus" and take the infected pod out of the vivarium, it is fatal and could spread to others :(
We need some devils coach horses!
You should totally get a species of Drysdera, or woodlouse spider, to help deal with the isopod population. They’re native to the Mediterranean
Love these videos
Thank you!!
At 3:13 I'm like wait a minute that is me xD
Hahahahaha the one and only! :D
Striped millipedes will be good for the vivarium because they eat isopods and pill bugs
Amazing
Please do live streams showing us how the vivarium is doing weekly if u can we love this vivarium
I immediately clicked on this video!!!
Suggestions for isopod hunters:Frogs/toads,Lizards,centipedes,And predatory beetles
For the pond you should get a freshwater crayfish
Will see about that xD they are huge!
You could introduce some larger centipedes or woodlouse spiders as they're their natural predators.
Yesyes will! :D thanks!
I honestly didn’t know you were still doing videos but I’m glad you are and happy I get to watch your vids again 👍
I really love your Vivarium, so cool!
finally an upload!
If you want to control the isopod population i suggest you add some centipedes. Also for the pond, don't add to many plants and let it be somewhat muddy bcoz that is what you see in nature, not always lush green ecosystems. Add some really nice river rocks too. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
P.S: You have the most Fantastic vivarium in all of UA-cam.
Cool Video, and a great project :D I love all this diffrent species :D
Thank you!! :D
Do you have a cover or how are you keeping the slugs from leaving? I've tried fluon like most people use on their ant tanks but the slugs and snails can crawl right over it and leave the tank. I was thinking I'm going to need to get a glass cover.
They stay inside without barrier! But sometimes I have a lid over it :D
I love these videos, it is like a mini nature documentary
I aspire to make vivariums as cool as this
Good luck I am sure you can :D!
Woodlouse hunting spiders are evolved for the sole purpose of hunting woodlice
Hi ! I'm a vinegaroon enthousiast (moderator of r/vinegaroons) and there is a small error in your post on the forum, It's Mastigoproctus giganteus and not Telyphonida giganteus ! You could also mention they love to have a very deep substrate :)
Oh really?? Thats awesome thank you for telling me!!!
@@nordicants6232 I will !
Do european forest and fence lizards eat isopods?
Also, when you make the pond, put some eggs of european tadpole shrimp (triops cancriformis) In it.
Would be cool to see if they will make it.
Super idea! Thank you :D although for the lizards I think I have too many reptiles and amphibians for another one atm ;)
Ive seen tetramorium impurum hunting isopods like crazy!
That would be great but tetra is pretty territorial :,(
@@nordicants6232 And tapinoma sessili eats thrm a lot and they are not territorial
4:12 Those isopods look like porcellio spinicornis.
Love to see more of these vivarium video's!!
Thank you!! See you next update :D
This vivarium is so epic. Love the slow worm - that's what we call them in the UK. 😀
She loves you back ;) hahahah thanks!
Thanks for a great episode! Really liked it, an especially the epic timelaps in the very end. 😁
Hahahaha thank you ;)) a real pro made that one!
Centipedes are probably the main predator for Isopods/wood lice but you would have to limit the amount you put in as they Will eat, mites, springtails, They also eat worms, spiders and slugs. Depending on the size
Thank you so much for the comment! Will get some centipedes(and not too much xD!)
your chanel is great and antsCANADA AS WELL YOU DO WELL IN THINKING HES GREAT
I love that video! Thanks for asking people how to solve my concern about isopods. 🖤 I'm gonna take some actions now. 😀
Try adding house centipedes. They Are fast, And ferocious predators.
Willdo sir!
This is a wonderful update on the vivarium. It was fascinating to see the ant colonies sharing, but soon enough one will get big enough to become dominant...and that will be interesting indeed. I could watch this vivarium for hours. Those were some fat black aphids there. The whole place is looking alive and healthy. Thanks...I needed this.🖤🇨🇦
Watching you do all of this with success makes me want to do something similar. Can't get enough of your videos! ✌🏻
What a super cool video good stuff 👏👏👏👏👏
I love your videos man!
It's amazing to see you craft these worlds!
Please keep going
Thanks. Alway awesome.
Lol that spider built it's web in such a terrible spot
Yet a good one though ;) but yeah so sad hahaha
I have a bit of an isopod overpopulation in my own tank. The ants seem disgusted by their smell when I cut them up and they won't attack them even in their own nest.
Guess I'll have to start being the isopod predator myself to keep their numbers in check
I love the editing :)
Yay
YES SLOWORM
Great video keep up the good work
Loveing the content longer vids !!!🤔
Thank you
hello for the isopod/woodlice problem try adding a centipede! read up on the species you get beforehand becuse some dont eat isopods/woodlice
You should put some tetramorium ants in there they are my fav.
You should do a diorama vivarium with ants termites and others
Thats my previous one ;)
You should add semi aquatic plants like reeds or something smaller
Hmmm let me know what you think in the next video! :D
Great video as always! Isopod hunting spiders would be really cool! Also maybe add more amphibians? frogs are more likely to eat isopods than toads but toads will also be more likely to eat ants! They both seem handy in this ecosystem (but I don't know how they will interact with the salamanders)
Thank you Nacho!!
Wow that was amazing dude, thanks a lot :) enjoyed my lunch much better :D
Glad to join you :D thanks
Leave the grains to grow on their own, I want to see how the inhabitants interact with them if they grow.
10:15 the slow worm eats worms and slags.
You should add another slow worm they may get to breed
Slowworm babies? Who can say no to that? xD hahahaha not enough space I think though...
@@nordicants6232 I see
Would be cool if you’d add some European Trap Jaw species.
Love from SEA
Those are really hard to get!! But maybe :D love back to SEA!
@@nordicants6232 I didnt know there are trap jaws in europe
Nordic Ants I’d heart your reply if I could but unfortunately I can’t. All the best in finding them TJs tho
Awesome and relaxing Video!!! Just a quick question about the Anguis fragilis , isnt it protectet in your cuntry ? I think they are protectet here in Germany and illegal to ceep without special licenseor is it a captive breed one ?
Cause i would love to keep them too.
Greetings ;D
A good predator for the vivarium would be the European copper skink a lizard from the Balkan region and Greece
Get one of the lolling eating spider with light tan butt and big red jaws of doom!! (Dysdera Crocata Drury aka sowbug killer) - ur welcome :) im a fellow youtuber but I have tarantulas. I find the killer spider I mentioned above, under rocks here where I live and didnt know their unique diet till later in life. I hope u find it to ur liking. I would enjoy the addition.
Hi Nordic Ants ^^, I think it would be cool if you could introduce small-sized crustaceans like the triops into one of your giant enclosures.
What do you think about this suggestion? ^^
Very good ideq
The next episode will be aquatic! But no triops for now although I will think about it :D
But be aware that they are cannibals and will gladly eat any pther tripos and then get big and start eating other organisims like worms and unlucky ants and gget even bigger and then can get up to like 6 cm from my experiance
@@TheDrPlants yes but the problem is that they wont reproduce if they got eaten by another triops
@@Erik-oz7kv Yeah their biology is pretty peculiar and they are not native to Sweden as well, but I will see what I will do!
who would dislike this
Or maybe a aggressive ant species
You will make more videos with the tropical 2 meters vivarium?
you should put manica rubida in the vivarium and european dracula ants
Manica is too territorial! Will check em dracula though :O
cool
Nordic Ants you could also put some solenopsis ants in the vivarium
6:45 snake fly
As another isopod hunter you could use some harvestman species
Centipedes should be good too
you had some already but some extra diversity won't be bad I guess
Will get :D great suggestions!
Wow that ant tank is so _amazing_ ! Your timelapses are awesome, at what interval do you shoot them?
All are on different intervals! Some 30 mins, a day up to 4 days!
@@nordicants6232 wow that's cool.
Oh, and to answer your question:
Frogs eat isopods, they would be prety cool in the vivarium just hanging out in the pond.
Too many amphibians inside atm :( maybe next year !
Get a species of communal tarantulas
That would be cool :o
You should add carnivorous plants !
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Possibly daddy longlegs or predatory ground beetles?
Hi, i was wondering how you went about catching the wild colony? I've wanted to do this but havent due to potentially injuring the queen.
Find a huge colony and just grab a smaller portion of it(10-20%of it!) :D injuring the queen is always a risk I guess.
@@nordicants6232 so luck essentially? with wood ants they build pretty huge nests. i have alot of them nearby, do they live inside the piles of wood the create (formica rufa) or do they reside deeper in the ground. ive contemplated making some y-tong nests, and burying them next to nests then disturbing the nest without killing but enough to force a move in hopes theyd use the ytong then collect it.
Id love to see a praying mantis!!
Add some sort of small lizard
