a helpful way to think of metatext is as the text in quotation marks: BABA text refers to the object named BABA, and BABA metatext refers to the text "BABA"- continuing that, the BABA metametatext refers to the text " "BABA" " and so on and so forth
I think it's easier to just add "text" to each metatext like "text baba is text you" or "text "text baba" is text "text you"" just like icely early metatatext playthrought
i feel like that first level should have had like. KEKE HAS Text_BABA, and some extra tiles to let you still make BABA HAS BABA because BABA HAS Text_BABA actually functions the same as just BABA HAS TEXT
My favorite way of thinking about meta text is still in numbers. Baba the object would be 0 or baba-0, the text Baba would be 1 or baba-1, then baba-2, and so on. It would be pretty cool to have it as a thing you could toggle with a button, where whatever tier the object is would display behind it with a semi transparent number. Another fun implication of this is that you could do math with your meta text. I might actually make that a level pack, I haven’t touched baba is you in a while and it sounds fun (but don’t hold your breath, im also lazy). While thinking about different math operations I did also think of a meta text concept I haven’t seen yet: meta-er text. If we have baba-0, baba-1, baba-2, and so on, what if we want to refer to all of them at once? That makes me think of something like baba-x, where that piece of text refers to all tiers of baba (not including itself for playability and math reasons). More formally, the number space is baba-x where x is Z+. But now that we have the text baba-x, we obviously need text that can refer to baba-x to keep with the meta theme. A solution would be renaming baba-x to baba-0x0. The text that refers to baba-0x1, that is referred to by baba-0x2, and so on with baba-1x0 referring to all the baba-0xa where a is Z+ text pieces. And you also need Baba-1x1 to refer to Baba-1x0. And like this we have all the infinities of class aleph. You could map baba-1x0 to aleph null, baba-2x0 to aleph one, and so on through the ordinals. Another fun side effect of this is that the text “All” gets really weird. In my interpretation, All would be the absolute infinite, since any one piece of text has to have all the ordinals for referencing, and thus All has to be bigger than any other number/ordinal/thing in existence. And yet you can also have All-1x0, referring to all-x, but also being included in all-0. This becomes a whole mess of contradictions, and should also be closely linked to the hole at the bottom of math (we started with talking about a puzzle game). Text-0 also gets dragged down into the rabbit hole, as it includes all all text and all text text, thus being either of size absolute infinity or absolute infinity minus one. On another side tangent, a joke the mod could make and also have as a functional statement is “fuck you, integrates your baba is you (with respect to baba-x)” and I find that pretty funny.
Something else fun I just thought of is that this would make a verb “all” make sense. That way you could say all baba is/has/verb noun, and it would refer to all tiers of baba including the object, and in a way kind of being the absolute infinity of babas.
I was very surprised that metatext IS still functions as the verb IS. Logically you would expect it to behave _only_ as a noun like all other metatext does. EDIT: I'm stupid, it behaves as expected. Using metatext noun IS in the level generated the verb IS on the overworld. meta-IS never acted as a verb.
2:55 i love to think here baba is using keke as like a raft to see better and keke is screaming in pain like his face melts on the ice over and over again.
There should be a “metaword” text (not meta-word) that makes whatever is metaword function like metatext (similar to “word”, but with meta instead of regular text)
targeting al IS's is never a good idea because it removes IS of WHATEVER IS YOU statement. Also a completed level might look like double metatext if it's the right colo(u)r (oh i didn't watch until that point when i commented this)
I never thought I'd actually see another video about Baba's World! (I'm the creator)

27:36 going into the level editor to skip a "puzzle" is still one of the funniest things you can do
(Chess Battle Advanced)
19:00 Icely doing whatever the fuck this is instead of "wall is stop and baba" is truly a chess battle advanced moment

in bab be u then metatext simply has "txt" after it - so there's "bab", "bab txt", "bab txt txt", etc.
=t text_baba:m

Yeah, at first I was like "whats the use of metatext, it's the same as 'has text'"

Glad to see metatext again
Glad to see "Glad to see metatext again" again
16:16 pretty sure you were supposed to make key is pull and instead of turning that level into key, you turn it into door so you wont die
2:55 i love to think here baba is using keke as like a raft to see better and keke is screaming in pain like his face melts on the ice over and over again.
26:33 wait. but isnt there text that says WALL IS NOT SWAP, so how does NOT DOOR IS SWAP affect the wall?
it's the BABA IS SWAP that's doing all the work
@@IcelyPuzzles ohhhh
Metatext is really cool!
[erases the fence]
Yeah pretty much.
I think the intended overworld solution for the fence was "fence is shut" and to pull the extra key from the previous room out and up to it to open
0:00 PLAY IT!!!
Metatext seems to me like the "Write" text in the base game for Baba Is You. If you're confused just look up "Baba Is You Write text"
is similar! but metatext does allow you to select specific pieces of text much better (and then there's the multilayers of metatext)
@@IcelyPuzzlesmeta text allows for metababa is metais and can let you create monstrosity
Oh dear lord, NOT THE META HELL.
LET ME OUT.
I'm watching the second level, I hope I see "The word 'baba' is you" in a level!
Baba's Bababox
if you made [TEXT_BABA] [IS] [WORD], would that make [BABA] [IS] [YOU] also make Text-baba You aswell?
This was my first and still only level pack I've played in baba.
Any forgotten text pointing to others are called FORGETTATEXT
Meta meta meta text spawns meta meta text spawns meta text spawns text
I can’t believe I am learning about pointers in a video game
This reminds me of using variable variables in PHP. A whole 'nother kind of hell.

22:19 Believe that was called Baba Didn't Respond
this levelpack apparently has a lot of cheese
Can you please put the part names in the titles it's annoying having to scroll through 8 months of daily videos to find a part 2
it would be cool to continue this pack
baba but what is the lowest amount of murders can you do to beat it
bold text in a nutshell
3:21 BABA HAS YOU
19:35 Just do WALL IS STOP AND , there is no WALL IS WALL here lol
A Metatext mod is nice
Why are you explaining the mechanic at the second half where the player should know it and its easy
Maybe i assume wrongly about people here
This makes me think of like, lambda calculus
Finnaly,a breack from chess battle advanced
METATEXT has METAGAMEPLAY
waiting for metametatext and metametametatext and metametametametatext
I released my levelpack now, its probably bad.

What about 5x meta text?🤔
