John, you are the man. Good on you for taking the plunge. I’m so excited for you man. Best of luck to you my friend. I admire your courage to just go for it. 👍🏻
Congrats!!! The best part about being a youtuber with a following is you are also advertising YOUR shop and not someone else’s. If you weren’t you tubing you’d need to spend a lot of time advertising initially. So hopefully this will help. So stoked to see people taking risk and following their dreams. We only live once. So may as well fuel your dreams versus someone else’s. Get it!!
Congratulations John! I Couldn’t be happier for you! I have a feeling once your shop is up and running you’ll be busier than you have ever been before, then you get spend your “free time” doing UA-cam stuff. Can’t wait to see it all up and functioning.
Congratulations John, my club brother George was never happier than in own shop. He luckily had a shop garage built onto the back of his house. He passed almost two years ago now but lives on. Always appreciate what you have worked for and earned. You will do very well and keep up the shop videos.
With all the cool stuff that you have done with your video editing you cannot let anyone hold you back! This has in my opinion rejuvinated you and your subs! I could tell that you needed this and that you were not going to get it working for anyone else! I will still be here and am excited for you!
Big RESPECT and Congratulations Mr John Maxwell, your going to love working for yourself brother, I owed my own business for 28 years, and I was the happiest person on earth, and I can tell that you are to, wishing you all the best of luck my friend, you deserve it John, you will do great, I have all the confidence in the world in you brother, now get to work LoL 😂, ✌️ N ❤️ brother 💯
John: I get to make my own schedule! Me as a business owner: 😂😂😂 now you work for yourself and for free. Oh, almost forgot the 12-14 hr days! Happy for ya brother. Best of luck. I’m sure you will do great. Maybe ciro will get on board. You’ve done lost of stuff with them in the past. 😬
I'm also a business owner: Fun to see his excitement & giddiness (I remember those days). Please John, use caution as things ramp-up & success begins to take hold. Growing bigger may be followed by reckless spending, so especially early, fight the urge to go down those paths. I started out small, then later grew & went really big (more employees meant more headaches etc.), then longed to go back to small... This is where I & my family were most healthy & happy...
Same boat. Body shop owner and custom painter here. Dreams of grandeur, followed by many "uh oh" moments. Gritting the teeth and pushing through as well as setting a realistic budget is the only way to do it unless you have huge financial backing (that I never had). But, I have no doubt our favorite UA-camr here can do it! A thriving UA-cam channel is no easy feat these days and he's slaying it. Im sure he will apply that same work ethic and positive mentality and kill it with the new shop!
Dude, just the excitement in your voice was reason enough to like this video. Proud of you for how far you've come. Good luck with everything, and I look forward to seeing the new journey
Left my job at 39 never looked back...been self employed till I retired...I think you have what it takes to do great things in business...good luck with your bike shop...looking forward to watching your new videos on the progress...
Good for you! I hope all works out very well for you and your family. Have a great time and I will be watching to see what your business sign looks like as well as how you decorate the interior of your shop.
Good for you. Back in the 80s i was half owner of a shop for awhile. It was a fun but very busy time. Those were Pan & Shovel days. The Evo was brand new. Very cool. Just remember though, don't do up the profits on your own iron. Buy your parts at cost for sure but don't let the shop buy them. If you're careful and good you will do well. Good luck!
I am so happy for you! I knew there had to be something in the works, I was getting vibes that the Harley Dealer was iffy on you making videos while working. So excited for repair videos in your own shop!
June 4, 1962. I got a few years on you...40 years as a machinist. I'm done. Retired. Good luck on your business. Nothing more satisfying than working for yourself and your family...one other thing. I bought a cordless charger from Ciro for the phone. Installed in a few minutes. Thanks...I really like it and credited you as my source...
Congratulation John and the Mrs ! You two will do real well. Takes a few years to get the rythme going but it will be exciting times. Wish you both lots of success and I’m certain you will have a strong following.
Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈 on your shop. As far as fridges go trust me less is best. Old school mechanical thermostat basic fail safe easy to repair & maintain.
I guess things weren't working out with the new owners, I remember you saying they gave you a lot more responsibilities; from experience, I know when that happens they dont give you more money with those responsibilities.
WOWW!!! CONGRATS!!!..im very happy your opening your own shop...even more happy your taking us on the whole ride with the start up...i am an up and coming mechanic..went to PSI in cleveland OH & will be attending MMI in Sept. & ive always wanted to open my own shop. I really appreciate the videos & the advice..cant wait to see the process...IM READY FOR THE RIDE👍🏾👍🏾
John, I quit me job a few years back to start my own business and it was THE best thing I’ve ever did for many reasons! So honestly buddy you will not look back, really pleased for you. Enjoy it!! Love your channel and what you do.
Congrats, man!! I'm excited for you! You're freaked out! Your brain is going a million different directions right now. The energy shows on you. You're ALIVE!!! I wish you all the success in the world. You had the plan and the courage to step out and take action. Inspirational stuff! Hang the sign in the reception area or the little foyer right above the light switch. It should be one of the first things they see. Looking forward to all of the content that'll be coming out of your office. We'll be watching as always.
I just did the same thing in October. I managed a tire and repair shop for 12 years, left and opened my own repair shop. Best thing I did for myself and my family. Like you, I am a family man and I have more time for them now than I did working for somebody else believe it or not. Congrats on the big move. Blessings on your new venture and your family brother.
Wow...ya did it! Congratulations! Saw it coming, just didn't know when. You're a real life Truman Show but in your case, you're both the star and producer. Your attitude and insight to your profession and industry rates right up there with Oxygen for us riding enthusiasts. Thanks for all you do and best wishes for a safe and prosperous ride!
Congratulations John, you've taken the first steps. It would be awesome to see you grow as big as certain other UA-camrs (Matt Carriker) that started a sideline business and are in the process of moving into a new building that they just built. It took them 2 years to outgrow their first building. I see it taking you about the same amount of time until you're so busy that you need to move into a bigger building.
I love seeing people take control over their future and pursue their dreams. Good luck with your new journey! I’m not far away, so when you open, I’m sure I’ll make the trek to visit!
Good Luck John! I'm so stoked for ya. My only regret is I didn't get to ride up with my two buds Kyle and JeanKarlo, whom you met at the Paris, TX 'Break the Harley' record meet. Anyways awesome move with Maxwell's Motorcycles! Shop and office area looks way cool, I've enjoyed your vids from the gitgo...I'll def be tuned in! WTG Bro! Paul Bounds, Houston, TX
Awesome news, happy for you John.....Tones of space (inside and outside), looking forward to seeing the shop come together in future videos. Respect from Cambodia 🇰🇭 👍
Damn, John! Congrats! Nothing better than stepping out on your own. You're going to be super busy from here on out. I assume your pricing will be more affordable than a dealership, so I'm quite sure your former dealership is going to lose all those customers whose bikes you worked on to you and your new shop. I wish you nothing but the best. Love your videos and I've learned a lot. Good luck to you and your future!
Congratulations John! You have worked so hard and this only seems fitting as the next step! I wish you nothing but great success with your new shop! You will have to come up with a new intro --you can longer say you are a highly trained unproffessional!
True Mechanic. Using a Knife, Diag Pliers to remove a splinter. Show the Mechanics Bad-Aid? Napkin and Electrical Tape. Just a Heads Up. Frozen Soda has a Tendency to Explode. Congratulations John!!! Congratulations John. I had the feeling when the dealership was sold and the old owner retired that you might make a move. I really did't expect this big of news. As others have said, start slow, don't overcapitalize with debt, stay grounded and keep it simple. Me and thousands of other fans want to see your business grow and be a success. If you ever have a grand opening,, I will ride from Birmingham to attend. Can't wait to try the new frige. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. You are creating your own luck. So, LUCK!
Congratulations John. I will say as a former business owner my two happiest days was when I open the business and when I sold the business in between was ups and downs. I hope it goes smooth for you. I am disappointed you left the dealership because it was nice to know you’d get the early jump on items that Harley was changing over to. I also hope with a shop that big that you will either take on an apprentice or take on another mechanic. Again good luck kick ass have fun & look forward to more content, and swag.
Congrats man! For a guy to deal with family, work, media, and trying to find his own way through life I have a lot of respect for ya. In the words of joe dirt “keep on keeping on”
Fantastic! What a significant plunge. Best wishes to you and your success as an entrepreneur. I vote that your sign should go wherever it's most publicly visible: in front of the shop, or reception area.
Best of luck Bro! And my 2c... that wide open space is just SCREAMING for a little off road track for your kids (and customer's kids too)! Gimme a shout if you need some designs for your shop, I'm in South Africa, so I can unfortunately not do the printing also...
Glad I found & joined the channel. Happened to find ya while trying to do a little research on my first HD bike selection. Now I'm along for the ride!!
Congrats John on takin the plunge. No regrets and never look back, you’ll do just fine. It truly is the best thing I had ever done 24 years and counting. My motivation was inspired by an old guy that had given me the best advise. He said always better to work for a profit than for a salary. Keep up the great videos and hope to meet someday out on the road. Much luck to you and your family. PS the yard looks like a great area to set up a spot for get togethers for the cycle community, thinking play area for kids as well as adults area for a food truck perhaps a fire pit and BBQ. DREAM UNTIL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. Peace brother.
John, you are the man. Good on you for taking the plunge. I’m so excited for you man. Best of luck to you my friend. I admire your courage to just go for it. 👍🏻
Thanks Matt!

Congratulations J.M.
