My very first time in service back in the day driving a metrobus on route H91 first stop out of Hounslow West an RPI got on board gave me his 4 digit code on my wayfarer my DQT said talk about in at the deep end but all my tickets were ok then you had to manually change fare stages zones and know how much to charge money then no oyster ,when I went back in 2020 on the 328 I thought blimey it’s so much easier but funny boarding is no quicker it was just as quick when I gave change and pressed a ticket ,all the best mate be safe Mark 😊😊
Another great video. As a bus driver working in Bradford West Yorkshire I miss the driving in London. Which I had the opportunity back in 2009 only for 6 months. Like the London bus driving way of not handling cash or the headache of non paying customers. Which is totally different up north. Can't wait for your next video

I’m considering applying to drive for Stagecoach and was wondering if you could do a video covering the shift patterns of an established driver (ie. after training is completed). I’d like to know how a whole cycle of shifts goes in terms of day shifts, mid shifts, late shifts and rest days. From what I gather, many drivers often have seven days of work followed by two rest days, but then there are some periods during a cycle of a month or more with more rest days between duties. Could you lay out a typical pattern on a piece of paper and show it to us? Presumably it repeats in a cycle every five or six weeks or something?

I seen a video where a bunch of kids were trying to get at the driver because he refused them on the bus for none payment. I’m a former London bus driver ,all TfL buses are fitted with two way radio ,ibus monitors your position ,there’s a central control point for code red or less urgent code blue,communication with your garage ibus controller and txt messaging ,as for fare evasion at Westbourne Park we was told not to get out the cab send a txt message as to the bus stop there a button for this and it lets TfL know there’s a problem and may send out an rpi inspector if it’s bad and there’s aggression then code red to the NMCC and the old bill will attend control have your position. Also it’s a job where you shouldn’t take it to heart if your abused verbally 9/10 times you may never see them again and buses have cameras which are recording Hope this helps Mark 😊😊

The mirrors on buses these days are too big, so over hang, the old TA Trident buses had nice small mirrors, I think Plumstead the Scanias came with big mirrors but they put the old style small mirrors on, till TFL said, all bused must have those big ones.@@thatbusdriverguy4182
Bro its the worst job majority of the people who stick around long enough are people who are not born in u.k. the conditions are horrible, poor seats, poor hygiene (never clean driver seats), poor shift patterns, no proper shift allowance, road users treat you like shit, passengers treat you like shit, I bus and management treat you like shit, transport workers have the highest cases of depression, and you will notice your health deteriorate, you can never win in this job not to mention tfl messed up the whole travel network by making the roads smaller majority 20mph and causing traffic all tfls fault, passengers never put their hand up or press the button in time, too many drug addicts people dont want to pay too many elderly taking the piss to sit down or coming before 9am the job is too much stress, beggers cant be choosers but this job is not worth the headache.
What's sad is how customers dont even acknowledge the bus driver, very dehumanizing...you'd think at least when boarding the bus they would say thanks or something (I understand when theyre getting off, it might be embarasssing to shout thank you but at the very least when you enter the bus for the love of God)

So true, done it for20 years. This is only showing good parts. Management don’t care about driver welfare, to them a driver is a bum on the seat.
