@bucky468 What? That's ridiculous. Why would Evanescence ever put any effort whatsoever, into being more like someone else? Originality has been pretty good to them. There is no bigger risk, than trying to be original.
bucky468 goddamn it why you getting so worked up about how evanescence don’t fit your favourite genre? how about you open your mind and explore alternative genres instead of rejecting anything that isn’t exactly what you want. if it sounds good then listen to it, jeez.
I got into writing because of them and slipknot/ breaking benjamin. I dont have a band and i guess id just be a solo artist. Im not hoping for too much but you never know 😁
courtnry salamone Nothing is impossible as long as you have passion for it! I’m wishing you the best with your career as an artist!! Also, SLIPKNOT ARE AMAZING
Since everyone is sharing: I grew up listening to Evanescence, my dad introduced me to their music. He died a year and 5 months ago, he was my best friend. I'm 20 now, and I will finally be seeing them live in April. When I found out they were coming to my country I knew I had to buy not only tickets to the concert but also to the meet and greet, can't wait to tell them how much they mean to me 💕
Hahaha I'm 27 and still love them and listen daily, walking to work or around town. I'll still love them long after they stop (which I hope is not for a LONG time), every one of them has their own uniqueness and I love it ❤️
I know they didn't stop, I just mean if they ever DO stop I'll still listen lol I may have mistyped but now I've been waiting since they first dropped the news lol
I'm not a veteran like y'all, but this band is the one I listen the most to, and despite I didn't grow up when Evanescence was the sensation, I've travelled from Origin to Synthesis. Unrequited love, hard losses and identity search... maybe my life isn't that hard, or that sad, but Evanescence made it so much easier.
Loved this band since the early 2000s. Heard them on the daredevil soundtrack and was hooked after that. Thanks to my uncle for giving me his copy of Fallen, it changed my life after that.
@@sambell385 oh yeah, the open door era was when Amy was at the height of her beauty. Just mesmerizing to look at. She's absolutely beautiful now as well, just in a different way.
Amy lee is so kind, intelligent, talented, innocent yet not so, to me at least she is a angelic and demonic equilibrium, but to be fair evanescence is a bloody good band as cant really big up amy lee and not the others, but i cant help the fact that if she asked me to do anything i would not hesitate what so ever, All the best with the future Upside Dave 🤘
I think I understand what you mean by the "innocent and yet not" comment. You can tell that she values kindness and often writes about a fascination with childlike wonderment and "innocence". Amy has said before that losing her little sister when she was six (her sister was 3), as well as being the eldest sister to two more sisters and a brother, that she felt she had to do some growing up very quickly. It's no wonder that her value set shows through who she is as a person. She is "innocent yet not" in the way a mother is. (Oh, and Jen is the fun aunt).
I started listening to them when I was 6. They honestly taught me the reality of this world. I wouldn’t be in this place and have this maturity, if it wasn’t for them.
I love Evanescence, their music keeps me going and I grew up listening to their music. I enjoyed seeing them live at Rockfest 2019 for my first time and would love to see them again. I would love to meet them and just talk with Amy Lee about music and how it draws you in.
I've been a fan of them since 2003... I like that they're trying to experiment and take risks in regards of their music, that's the great thing about being a musician, getting out of the comfort zone. :) I would also really love to hear the Evanescence EP, Sound Asleep and Origin songs that weren't yet re-recorded with new arrangements and cool stuff added in a compilation album, it would be a blast. :D
Thank you for this great interview! and please cover more of their upcoming album! Oh and we want Amy Lee in LW's office again for another Hello Kitty performance! ;)
Great interview! I'm just so happy Evanescence is making new music again. I love that Amy only writes new songs when she actually feels inspired and has something to say, no matter how long it takes (even though the wait is agonizing for us fans), and is not just releasing songs for the sake of record sales. That's why she's incapable of making bad music. She is a true artist and I really admire her for that.
If ive learned anything about evanescence its that no matter how awesome the previous album is, they somehow do 20x better on the next one and completely blow you away Im excited man
Then check out Ben Moody solo album," You can't regret what you don't remember " All fallen up in there. Even David the other writer from the band is there in one of the songs as a back up singer and as a writer for one of the somgs
Of course it is everyone's preference, and I love the open door, but I don't think every single song on the open door is great like all fallen songs are. In Fallen I would say every song has at least 8/10 while some the open door songs are like a 6 or 7
Evanescence is one of the bands that definitely shaped modern rock music. First heard them from early 2000s movies, they dominated back then. Haven’t really followed them lately, but heard they’re still going! 👍🏾
Aaron Coleman Amy is still going. The rest of the band is different. She is the only founding member left. Nowhere near the same sound they started with.
i love this women so much..she helped me so much through my teeny years with her music. and after more than 15 years i was able to see her life performance..i was blown away that night..she was breathtakenly good. i cried so hard..
Just when I go on a 2000s rock nostalgia trip.. I see this in my feed the next day; nice to hear from her, one of the bands I grew up listening to and loving every song.. So much memories with their tracks
"Hyperfocus" 😊 - Amy: you ever considered you may be an ADHD person with your passion, energy, quick wits, creativity? Probably one of your superpowers...
Of course there are. You can always say "well, here's this rare benefit to having violent diarrhea." But then there are also common misconceptions that downplay how shitty it is to be constantly crapping yourself. It's also pretty safe to say that the majority of diarrhea advocates don't suffer from it. ::poop metaphor achievement, unlocked::
Opaqueness Amy and Ben do not have any relationship whatsoever. As far as the public knows they haven’t spoken to each other since at least January 2004. I’d love for them to patch the friendship up and make music again, but with their horrible meltdown in 2003 it will never happen most likely. She has said on multiple occasions she wants nothing to do with him and they are both better off to not be in each other’s lives. I do agree with your comment though. After Ben left the content that followed did not draw me in as much as fallen did. I still love that album, the others I could take it or leave it.
We don't need him. TOD is literally their best album... both lyrically and musically, dark and with typical atmospheres of symphonic rock music. There was not Ben, Amy did it herself.
Lol Ben was a narcissistic control freak and wannabe who only sought to get commercial hits and overshadow Amy, and constantly clashed with Amy's integrity and creative vision of Evanescence, not to mention his bitterness and emotional abuse that tore their old friendship apart. He was very toxic and would hold back Evanescence's growth for his selfish greed. And he himself even admitted later that Amy was the most creatively-driven and artistic one of the band. When he left, Evanescence was all the better for it under Amy, even despite label troubles. Amy and even he himself later said the best thing to happen to Evanescence was his leaving after the first album and Amy taking the reigns. The Open Door is one of Evanescence's best work and that's because Amy was in full control after Ben left.
I really want to hear Evanesence make something really dark and heavy, absolutely in love with Amy 😙
Me too🤘🏼

bucky468 okay calm down... nobody ever meant to offend you. You’re also speaking to a christian btw...
@bucky468 That means you'd probably like Skillet, at least for the positivity side. They're my favorite band to be honest.
Without this band, I wouldn’t be trying for a music career today. They are my favorite band and they seriously saved my life. Wonderful interview!
