    Dude this video is great. I saw your comment about putting the ECU in the freezer to diagnose it and that helped immensely. I don’t recall if it was also said in the video, if it is I apologize, but the comment mentioning putting the ECU in the freezer should be put up in the description and be screamed from the rooftops. After days of researching about crank no start issue, that was the first I saw of testing the ECU by putting it in the freezer. Thanks again dude 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

    I have the factory service manual for my 96 Accord with 4cyl sohc automatic. I couldn't find anything about where the damned computer was located, so mucho gracias for your explanatory video! One big difference is that my car did not come with the transmission control unit, so hopefully the tranny problem is in the computer. I went for the computer after going through a bunch of reman alternators having similar failure issues after 20-50 miles.

    Hello,
    What a great video. You get straight to the point of rem. rpl of the TCM. My 1996 Honda Accord had a ABS light go on and stay on.
    Shortly there after the Check engine light came on. Diagnosed to the TCM.
    Do you happen to know if the TCM is connected to the ABS system?
    Haven't had a moment to remove the carpet underneath the passenger side to look to see if the ECU/ECM and the TCU/TCM were placed into a single unit.
    If this is the situation for my Honda, what are your recommendations of purchasing a new single unit? Where would you recommend I purchase one from?
    I'm not opposed to purchasing a refurbished one.
    Thank-you

      Up to this point I've gotten by with junkyard ECU/ECM's for my 95 but good ones are getting harder to find.. I've had this site saved for several years in the event I need a refurbished one.. Hello,
      I was able to open up the passenger side compartment and confirm that I just have the one ECU/ECM and the TCU/TCM single unit.
      The single unit has a date - March 26, 1997. The bar code reads - 37820-P0H-L52 887-344355 IPT.
      Do you still recommend I order an ECU/ECM from the link you provided which are primarily a 1996 unit?
      Thank-you

      Called All Computer Resources, they asked for my VIN number as well as the ECU number and was able to place an order for a new computer.
      Really great resource for sure.
      Many thanks for your expertise on your video. Was quoted an estimate from a Transmission company near me at $1240.00 to replace the TCM.

    Thanks for the video! Wondering if you had issues with your ECM ? I have a 96 Accord DX with the F22B2. That keeps stalling randomly. The main relay had been replaced, as well as the ignition switch in the last year. I have spark, and fuel pressure when this happens. I suspect no injector pulse is causing the problem. However it always restarts eventually. Usually 10-20 minutes after. I looked at the solder joints in the ECM and they all look good. Not sure if you've seen something similar ? Though mine is OBDII, not sure if yours is OBD I do to the year difference.
    Thanks

      No issues with the ECM at this time.. I had a front passenger water leak and took everything out to dry out carpet.. I have had 2 ECM issues in the past though.. Both solved with ECM (salvage yard) replacements.. First was no start when interior of car was hot.. To diagnose, I took ECM out of hot car (heat expands solder joints to expose cracks) and placed it in fridge for 1 hour.. Plugged the cold ECM back in (same hot interior) and engine started/ran fine.. Second issue initially led me to believe I had a transmission problem.. RPM's would surge and transmission felt as though it was slipping.. I had stockpiled a few ECM's at that point and swapped one out just to see if that was the problem.. Problem went away.. Put the old ECM back in to confirm issue, problem returned.. Faulty barometric pressure sensor in ECM?? Don't really know.. I keep an eye on two salvage yards where I live for automatic 94-97 Accords with non Vtec engines.. Specifically to check for ECM's that match mine.. I like having spare(s).. Good Luck with your issues..

    1:23 "fold it down". I've got this far, and it's not folding down. Something is pulling and straining and feels like it will break if I force it down anymore. Any tricks for this part?

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  5 років тому +3

      after removing the four 10mm nuts that hold the kick-plate down you have to pull it towards you a little until it clears the four threaded studs.. once you do that, you should be able to pull the top towards you and lay it down flat like i do in the vid.. the top may catch on the bottom of the glove box but you just work it past that.. then the only thing(s) attached should be the wiring harnesses..

    On 1994-1995 Honda Accords does the A01 or A02 on the end of the TCM number mean anything significant or is it just a revision number? I'm wanting to check before I get a transmission for my 1994 Honda Accord LX wagon so I can make sure I get the right TCM or can reuse the one already installed.

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  4 роки тому

      Got this info from a site explaining ECM numbers.. Not sure if it applies to TCM's also..
      "The last 3 characters are broken down into 3 parts. "A" generally is used for US ECUs. "G" is European, and "J" is Japanese. There are other versions of this, but you get the idea. The second digit "0" typically means manual transmission, where a "5" means automatic transmission, and the last digit "1" is the version number."

      Good question.. I personally don't disconnect the battery when removing/installing the ECU and I've never had a problem.. But it's probably a smart thing to do.. That way you fully restore power to the ECU all at once instead of partially restoring as you connect each of the 3 harnesses..
