- With Sung Kang’s highly anticipated return to one of the world’s biggest franchises in ‘F9,’ ‘Fast and Furious’ fans may finally be getting #JusticeForHan. But what does the man who plays ‘Fast’ favorite Han think of the fan campaign to bring him back and make things right? And how did he go about shaping the mysterious snack-happy drift king into one of the most beloved characters in one of Hollywood’s most beloved film series? We sat down with Kang to dig into just that. In this exclusive and extended breakdown of Han’s journey in the films, Kang reveals how he worked with director Justin Lin to bring a standout character from Lin’s indie hit, ‘Better Luck Tomorrow,’ into the ‘Fast’ world; how the duo had to convince the studio it was the right move to make Han a bigger player in ‘Tokyo Drift’; what it means to play an Asian-American character that has inspired so many fans; and, yes, why Han snacks so damn much. Plus, Kang reflects on the #JusticeForHan campaign and the fans that revved it up, and the moment he realized that the impact of this character “is way bigger than me.”

What an epic interview. Han’s character really made a huge impact in the United States. It really portrayed a lot of us laid back car loving Asian American dudes. Thank you Sung for being a great role model too. Especially the cigarettes part. Now please make Tokyo drift 2 please! It’s my favorite Fast and Furious movie!
Tokyo drift was the worse one lol Han is the man tho lol
Yes! That would be awesome!
@@orishaphotos481 nah F9 is by far the worst
@@orishaphotos481 tokyo drift only the movie tht make sense for f&f movie series...focusing on street racing and og cars...so technically, Tokyo drift maybe the best movie from f&f
What impact did he have? I find his role in the franchise so little 😢
We need a stand alone Han movie that is focused on Hans time in Tokyo
Yeah. And one of him with Gisele traveling
A Han solo movie if you will.
@@TheAnkan001 😂
Watch Good Luck Tomorrow. That movie is basically his prequel and it’s Justin Lins directorial debut
Good luck though tough to film in tokyo
I can’t believe he thinks he’s not cool because I saw him somewhere and just the way he was sitting was SO cool😂😂😂
Low self esteem. The side effect of being bullied growing up.
The most zen character in the Fast and Furious Franchise. Favorite Han-isms:
"Life simple, you make choices and don't look back."
"I have money, it's trust and character I need around me. You know, who you choose to be around you lets you know who you are. One car in exchange for knowing what a man's made of? That's a price I can live with."
"There's no 'wax on or wax off' to drifting. You do it by feeling it! So feel it!"
First one is definitely my favorite
"If I were to drift, it'd be for something important. Why else do it at all?"
"If you don't drift to weeen, what do you drift for?"
"You really want to know?"
"Yeah."
"All right let's go."

Han is the best character ever.... I would love to watch a mini Series or a solo movie just for Han.
Yes! Me too!
And should be called Han Solo
Han and Gisele special spin off ❤️ is okay too
I really love seeing Sung Kang telling stories, it's always very emotional and there's a lot of his personality in them ! We didn't expect to see Han resurrect and yes, justice be done for his death in the franchise...but seeing Han back, it's very exciting ! His character , since Better Luck Tomorrow , makes us love this charismatic Asian who conquers us in every scene ! I love you Sung Kang !!!
This was so deep, so insightful, so moving. Thank you for your portrayal. Han should have been back long ago, and you should have been an A list Hollywood leading man.
Sung Kang deserves more roles!
Indeed he does
this is the interview I wanted
I think Han is the most relatable character in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Most of people seem to forget that Jason Tobin who played Earl in Tokyo Drift was also in Better Luck Tommorow, he played the one guy with the buzzed haircut. It'll be great to Han and Sean reunite in F9 after the events of Tokyo Drift/Furious 7. It's really great that Sean Boswell is finally going to become a part of the Street Racing family, hope to see a rematch Street Race between him and Dom. If a Tokyo Drift 2 does get made, it should be about what happened to Han after the car exploded. Takashi aka DK, is also responsible for luring Han out into the streets so that Deckard Shaw could kill him
Such a cool laid back character in Tokyo Drift
thankfully they devised a way to bring him back
he lights up a screen with his swagger
I’m just waiting for the day Hyundai approaches Sung Kang for a commercial referencing that One line from Tokyo
But it was derogatory towards Hyundai…..
Han is undoubtedly my Fav character F 'n F series..Cool guy .. Love from India.. 🇮🇳
Han ....was "the" character in fast and furious. An icon.
Han is my favorite character in F&F. Such a dope, chill character. glad he stuck around and glad the film makers brought him back for the rest of the franchise.
This is a lovely interview
He seems pretty chill
He was fantastic in the movie.
Man Han was is my favorite character and the franchise was a huge part of my childhood, the cars the characters, everything drew me in but man the character of Han was something else… I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t my definition of cool for at least a decade lol
This interview is highly underrated.
In Car (talk) Discussion, HAN LIVES, BaBY, Han Lives!!!
Im glad that they continued with Hans character. He was opne of my favorites in the FF franchise other then Paul Walkers character. Really defined Fast and Furious.
Omg this is some level up interview of Han! Just your fan here since tokyo drift.. I was saying your lines over and over!
“There’s no on and off in drifting.. you have to live it!”
He was so right about the smoking , Han was the coolest and still is the coolest MF in the FF series , glad he study about being impressionable to kids!!
Han's is my first love in F&F..
Same here
Sung is a great human 😍 My favorite in F & F
Thank you Joyodrobina6893❤
I wish they made a Han Solo movie instead of Hobbs and Shaw..
They need make a Han movie.
Hobbs and Shaw version was amazing too... Still, I hope for a solo movie on han!
A Han spin off would be good
It's Probably Tokyo Drift Itself And Better Luck Tomorrow...
I just finished filming some scenes with Sung and he is one of the nicest and most humble actors I have worked with on the last 35 years. Hollywood needs more like him.
It's weird seeing him with short hair in the movie
A nice wholesome interview!
I love you, Han!!!! 😭♥️
Amazing interview, movies and characters help you sometimes with perspective of different races
Better Luck Tomorrow was a very underrated movie. Shout to John Cho
Very interesting! We needed this.
Love Sung. Great interview 👏🏻.
I watched better luck tomorrow when I was young.. and not until yrs later I put the connection together. That Han was a continuation character really well done
I love Tokyo Drift with Sung Kang. So maybe on Fast 11 he is going to see Gal Gadot. 😍
Tokyo Drift is top tier fast and furious movie
This man been fine for years
What a class act. Super inspirational.
At the end by 9:00ish that got me. Being Asian and racism, rather be passive in my case but Gee, made my eye dilate like the Gas Station guy.
i never liked fast and furious movies but Tokyo drift hand and justin where some of the most OMG CHARACTERS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as someone whom got bullied most my life and never idolized anyone... you are the only star from holleywood i actually want to super meet!
Better Luck Tomorrow Prequel Standalone to Fast And The Furious Series
Oh hell. Han is deep southern.
It's Solo.
*Han Solo*
😎
👌👌👌👌
Respect for not 🚬 smoking.
I can't to see Han play as Sung kang come back in F9:The First Saga.
Me too
Han should be the new main character of the franchise with Sean. Get the franchise back to its roots
Some one should avenge Tyrese by doing a reverse car discussion on Sung Kang
favorite fast and furious character, han was just so well portrayed and seemed so real.. extra points from being from my homestate lmaoo
Eating snacks with swaaaagggggg. If you know who raised him, you know his rhythm.
He looks so badass, but speaks like a meek, nice guy.
Sickest character.
amazing film
Damn that background music is doooope
Oh God, Thank you for Han's Back in Fast 9
Sung Kang and Wonder Woman made a great couple.
the goat making people wise, nice
I'm shocked they let him eat during takes without knowing what was going on.
My favorite character, Han!😍
all i hear is "you know"
p.s sung is the best
Best character and best movie in the franchise. Sung Kang AKA Han from Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Make him a James Bond in Tokyo
My most favourite character in the series.
If Tokyo Drift was made today, some people start to trash the studio and filmmakers for inclusivity in the franchise. Or in their words, woke power.
Han really is the reason, i still watch this downhill franchise. Tokyo drift definitely top 3 movie in the franchise
Lol Yes! I always laughed at Han bc he was always eating
Nice to meet you and I like it
My bro han!!! 👏👏👏
I love him 😍 I hope Gisele (Gal Gadot) will come back too 🙏
If owen shaw still alive, gisele must be since they in military
:))
Thank you dear
i thought he ate chips cause he was really an ex smoker, might be idk, but super cool to hear the real reason behind it
Hope he would have a solo movie.
We need a han 🏁 🎬
He almost killed the good will towards Han by playing the character on Power.
Han was the best character and actor in this mediocre franchise.
And he could certainly knock spots off of most actors in Hollywood too imho.
i wouldn’t go as far to say “mediocre” franchise it’s really not especially with his ppl in it. and he’s already in the obi wan kenobi show so he’s straight
Brian was and still is the best character, it’s not the same without him
@@Charmer4856 😂😂😂
Facts his character deserved a spinoff not hobbs & shaw
I watched tokyo drift just for *Han* 😅
Damn this man is 52 lookin maybe late 30s or early 40s
Han solo movie in Japan
I grew up with fast and furious. After Tokyo drift they should have ended the franchise. After that is wasn't about the racing street life . The grubby executives wanted there fingers in the pie . Fast and furious now is a ridiculous stupid movie . 1,2.3 were the best
You are the only guy cool enough to eat chips on camera.
Idk han saw some stuff in Cali that would change a guy
Fandemental Galaxies"
🤩
Asian keanu reeves.
Yep they're super yummy
You know said 117 times
Chocolate
Japanonly
He's korean
Nonot
Yfyd
First 🥇
Correction, you don't need to go through Alabama to get to Florida from Georgia.
Maybe they were making a stop somewhere.
Looks like Han is becoming Chow Yun Fat
He's a lot older and as u get older your metabolism slows down
