Well, in my opinion she should’ve asked the person “in charge” of the place they sent her to to show her the listing so they could book the different place. That happened to me where someone was just creating two listings and the one I clicked wasn’t just ready yet. But I asked for the one that was ready and they sent me the link and I booked the different one so I knew what I was getting into... PLUS if you have ANY issue you need to reach out to Airbnb and they WILL help you. Like there was a place that didn’t send me specific check in instructions (since it wasn’t a keypad) and I reached out to the app for help and they were ready to find me a new listing to accommodate if I wasn’t able to get into the Airbnb I had planned. So then it would’ve been free basically to switch to a different listing. This lady should’ve reported what was happening from the start lol.
I use airbnb a lot and this type of thing only happened once. I usually book super-hosts and choose people who show their faces on their profile pictures. It was in Italy. The hostess said that the room was unavailable and essentially had us stay in her friends flat, while she was away. We stayed for one night and immediately called airbnb the next morning. They answered, gave us a refund (plus credit), and re-booked us in another listing. We immediately left and although we had to wait a few hours to enter the next listing, it was worth it. The whole point is that this happens, but airbnb customer service is at least getting better.
I read this article and and looked into my January 2020 Airbnb reservation in Asia a little more closer and as I saw a couple cancellations reviews I asked question to my Airbnb host four days later they canceled my reservation!!! •most reviews were Made by locals • photos were looked to good to be true. • three reviews that had honesty reviews about how dirty and how difficult it was entering the building! • they canceled my reservation!!!! Looking for more affordable hotels or hostels.
Yes there is scams but this lady was dumb for not complaining right away. I had an issues with Airbnb and they refunded me and booked another place for me for free.
I run an Airbnb and this is shocking to me. I always do my best for my guests. We provide soaps, fresh sheets, utensils, ac, everything you’d need in a home is there. And this gives people like me a bad name. I’m feel sorry for her. Because I just want to provide a cheap and better alternative for hotels during vacations. Hope this issue is resolved by Airbnb.
My friend rented an AirBnB and when she arrived their was an undisclosed roommate living in the home that showed her the room she was to stay in. Told her what she could and couldn't do and when she purchased the room she expected a full apartment with no people in it. Not safe. Not easier. Not simple.
I’ve yet to be scammed but I had a dude ruin my profile. First he tried to blame us for some blue stain that was supposedly left which for sure wasn’t us because there was a mat in that area when we got there. Then he complained that we ruined his grill because we didn’t use wood chips (because they were wet) and got mad that there was some leftover patty inside. Which granted the last one was our fault but when you charge $150 for cleaning then it shouldn’t be that big of an issue.
Seriously!!😂 i showed my wife that movie and 14 cameras she was freaked out, while we were in a air bnb, will never do it again, especially without a hidden camera detector lol
Would it be possible for Airbnb to hold the transaction money until the stay is completed? And if there is a complaint big enough for investigation they could refund the money. Sort of like a deposit. If it's all good it just goes through as normal. Maybe as landlords build credit this process can be much easier but new landlords have to go through this 3 step money process.
Same thing sorta happened to me I went up to the condo at check I'm time, knocked no one answered, decided to open the door only saw the entrance but it looked like someone was currently living there and not very clean about it. When I tried calling my host he said the room had experienced a small fire and will no longer be able to accommodate me, told me I had to cancel and while I was in the middle of doing so I was informed i would be charged. I called CS someone answered told me that he had cancelled but it still said active online. Took a call to the bank and customer service again for them to finally cancel it on their end.
Cancelling my Airbnb fir Nashville now. I’d rather know I really have a place to stay than fly across the Country just to get scammed at the last minute.
Did you get a full refund ? I tried canceling 2 days later after booking and i wasn’t going to get it cause some fees were not refundable I guess lol but I ended up staying and it was a good place lol
Guests scam too. My mother rented out her condo through AirBNB. My mother is immaculate in her organization and cleanliness. Her condo looked just like those wonderful pictures. However the guests found some dust in the bathroom fan and under some furniture and complained and Airbnb told my mother she had to give them 50% off! Saving them over 1000$! Airbnb is a horrible company. Do not use them.
Airbnb has so much loopholes in the rules. Most Airbnb people ask more for more people and don’t even provide food and don’t clean the place. I went to an Airbnb that said it had 12 bed but just had 5 so everyone had to share a bed
I’ve had horrible experiences with airbnb and Airbnb was not helpful at all. The worst was one in Atlanta where I found hidden cameras. I’ve come to just book hotels and lately I’ve been back to booking beach houses through vrbo but they have to be an actual rental company, I do not trust regular owners.
I got suspicious once in Australia when one location had 8 AirBnB properties at low rentals and no reviews and did not respond to enquires. Reported it to AirBnB who suggested I stick with well rated properties with verified hosts. They have since brought in their guarantee policy that you get what you booked.
I’m using Airbnb right now month to month in Manila and I’m very pleased with their service! No contract needed , no lease! Airbnb is the best way to rent for short stays without a lease! The best temporary housing available!
I’m not sure how old this is but I had a bedbug issue at an Airbnb and I called before I left the property and they refunded me and paid for my hotel for the entire trip. Also DO NOT make any deals with the homeowner outside of AirBnB. If there is no paper trail you can’t prove your case.
We use airbnb for local travel. Elsewhere it's "find the hotel we can afford". Locally when we first used airbnb, we got this property owner that we knew. My sister knew him from school. We usually try to book with him it his shotgun house isn't booked.
They should also ban last minute replacements. If you cannot provide the actual service advertised then an automatic full refund and a credit to buyer provided by airbnb so they arent left stranded and can book something if theyre already in the city. At least this way the scammer wont get any money.
I only stayed at airbnb once and it was on the river in a houseboat so it was worth it, always check the reviews and check several reviewer profiles to make sure they’re not bots. If they spent that much on a place they should’ve just stayed at a hotel, lots of price ranges if they wanted to save money or stay at a nicer higher end hotel establishment
My first airbnb was for 2.5 day for 470$ the guy took really good photos of the place, but was way smaller in person than he made it seem, they sharpened up the photos so it catches the our eye and didn’t take photos of the small Hallway where the bedrooms were in front of each other 😑 and that was it, the kitchen and living room were connected plus the small always. 4 nights in an Airbnb for $1200!! You might as well just go to a normal 4-star hotel at that price
It sounds like it was a group of them so actually that wasn't a bad price. They'd had have to book 2+ rooms and that could go well over $1200.
