I started driving a T/T in 1984 and this guy reminds me of the older drivers that trained me. There were no truck driver training schools. He’s laid back,Nothing really bothers him. This is the way to make it in the trucking industry these days.Get a great dog, only run the Midwest,Have a great wife and kids at home and parents that remind you of Ozzie and Harriet. All those compliments I might add. Ole Schmidt is a winner in my book.
Thank you
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 No thank you. Nice to see a guy like you that loves trucking do well. The Y/T truckers are usually inexperienced,Think they know everything and should make top wage within 2 years exp. As much as a driver who has 30-40 years
Still same thing here in Europe
We didn"t need no stinking schools
@@Retread2006I got a little lost there,We’re you going for” His face was that of a dog because it had been a long week??. I do it all the time be writing something and it just goes off the rails.lol. We got ya brother. This niceness thing he’s got going is rubbing off.
At 15:20, beautiful sunset going over those RR tracks.
Plan B Take a bar out of the other side of the grill. It will look even and you'll have a spare for the next trip to Indiana.
Opie would make a good Ventriloquist never see his lips move when he talks, good dog!
Kurt may leave comments all the time but I truly enjoy your channel. You show both the family and the trucking side of what it’s like. Keep up the great videos.
Chilla-caw-thee OH
Also in missouri
I started driving in 96 and stopped 2018 cus of health issues.I didn't take care of myself now im disabled..But i sure do love your videos kurt. You remind me of my life when i was on the road.Very nostalgic.Weird that our fathers were sick of prostate and heart problems.Unfortunately i lost my father to prostate cancer.Anyway keep on trucking brother.Salutations to the family
As an Illinois resident we are taxed to death, we have all sorts of sin taxes, lottery, slots, weed, fuel. Yet none of it seems to help fix roads.
Yeah and y’all keep voting the same way. Imagine that.
Brand new roads all over down here in Florida
@@tommythompson3588 Chicago is the problem and always will be.
I'm starting to do the same thing between home and Casper WY. That road is beat to crap and I actually broke a spring on my car trailer the last trip.. our government needs to quit sending $$ everywhere and start fixing our roads!!
The bad part is , even the new roads they build are rough.
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 yeah I know..they "repaved" one of the main streets in Gillette and it's worse than it was before they did it!! Didn't even finish the topcoat on part of it so it's already degrading and cracking
Unbelievable the city, county, state hire shotty contractors.
Lots of RV’ers are complaining too about how bad the interstate roads are… !!
All you need on that hood is just a couple cans of Krylon!
Yes please it's now bothering me now that many have commented on it.
Opie understands that the junk food is a human's version of treats!😊
I really laughed about what Kurt said about the junk food and treats.
What happened to the stryker? We just call Chillicothe, Chilli. Lol
Don't truck in Michigan we have the roughest roads there is. But we also have what's called a Michigan train 2 wagons total weight 180,000 lbs.
I've heard that
I've seen them. Also, interstate 75 north around mile marker 6-12 seems to be the worst. There's also road construction going on too that may destroy your load (go figure).
Otherwise known as a B-Train.
Hey SCHIMDT. You're a Boss. To travel down the 🛣️ with no 🎶. I couldn't do that. I guess 1st class stacks and turbos are all the music that you need. And a little radio talk every now and then. Safe Travels SCHIMDT 🐕🦺
🚛💨💨💨💨
Sorry about your grill. I am in California now and roads have pot holes in the pit holes.we are taxed to death. Don’t know how many people when we are out on patrol with the Sheriff Dept have lost a tire from a pot hole and. It messed up you alignment. Seems like the more that tax the residents the worst the roads are. I am orig. from Nevada and the toads are good most places. Take care on the road and gives Opie and Jackes a pat on the head and a treat. Thanks for the ride. I am an old trucker from 63-94.
It's been a while since you've shared a train with us. Another great video as always.
Back in the 70s I took a job for a moving company out of Enid Oklahoma. I had to pull a 34 foot moving trailer to West Texas in the summer. Along the way, we pull over by the side of the road and lay down a stack of moving pads to crash in the trailer. Sometime after we went to sleep, we woke up to the most ungodly noise I ever heard in my life. I look out the door, and we were probably not 10 feet from a freight train track, with a train going by at least 60 miles an hour!
That was Morgan foods. They can beans and soups there. The Railroad is The Indiana Louisville Railroad. It used to be the Interurban Railroad that had a passenger train from Indiana to Louisville a century ago. The rail line is 110 miles long and now has straight freight and express trains running on it now. Right where those tracks cross through the parking lot is where a 18 wheeler got hit about 5 years ago. The truck was hauling canning lids. It was a mess to say the least, the driver survived.
ahhhh.....the 'ol 15 minute load/unloads
My boy Jasper said to tell Opie that I’m the best doggo daddy
The irony of that road grader sitting there as you're talking about the bad roads. We had the starter on our old GMC almost fall out because of those roads. I'm praying that everyone in IA is staying safe with the nasty weather coming through. Thanks for the ride. God bless.
The tornadoes are about 40 to 50 miles from the family right now. But all is safe so far.
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 Good to know.
Had 3 here in Boone county Iowa....All safe in Ogden/Boone. Ledge State Park got hit 😢 Prayers to all. Stay Safe ✌️❤️ to the family & critters. Pam
I am a medical cab driver, I am in Austin every morning. The town stinks because of Morgan Foods. I wish I had seen you!!!
I spit my water out when you said hanging in here with all my friends. Lol
Well Kurt! At least you're an organized hoarder!!!! Makes it easier to get rid of stuff!!!!!
From trashy to clean!!!
Like magic!!!!
With Peterbilts, the 7th VIN from the end is either N or D. N was built in Nashville, D was built in Denton TX.
Don't worry about sounding out the weird names of places. Just do what I do..... Call it a shithole!
Pronounced Shariton. HyVee warehouse. I used to live in Chariton. lol. It’s on Hwy 34, west of I-35.
There's also an Chillicothe, Tx in the Panhandle of Tx & there are several other towns in the USA with Chillicothe
That the same train which goes a half mile from my house. It follows I 65 and Old US 31 Goes from Indy to Louisville. You probably went to Morgan Foods Inc.. I can hear that train four times a day. The engine has one of the loudest horns. I said that to a Greenwood, Indiana Cop, of which that train goes through just south of me, and he said they put that loud horn on all the engines on this line because there had been so many vehicles hit at non light crossings and they thought it would let people hear it a long ways off.
You were only 60 miles from French Lick, Indiana. I use to pick up loads there. Safe travels.😊
I love watching your videos. It lets me see place that i know I'll never get to see.
Thank you
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 you're welcome
Feel the same it's very interesting to me.
You were right up the road from the house there in Austin. I’d have bought you dinner if I’d known you were there.
A train scare my oldest son , we had stopped at a drop and the way the tracks ran when he looked out of the sleeper it looked like the train was coming thru the truck. Stay safe
Chill-a-cot-tee= Chillicothe,Ohio
Yep. Camped out one time at a steel place in Kankakee, IL-train tracks right next to the parking lot. Amtrak comes barrelling thru about 4 AM at better than track speed-maybe 80MPH if not more. Talk about jumping out of me bunkie poo-a good 'ol Cornbinder 9700 cabinover. Least it was a double bunk. Still remember it vividly-and that was like 1995.
Have a good week Kurt and Opie
Lol ! Shifting with the left hand ! I did that too ! An old Caboose ! the W900L i was driving was the same ! lol ! one bar missing ! It s on my video (Doing pick-ups in Toronto ) 50 ? Well i know we get use to any speed ! lets not be in a rush ! lol ! Good thing !
Drive safe out there
We were just out in Omaha visiting our family from New York (Long Island). We were looking for you on I80 and I680. Maybe next time. Stay safe.
Chillicothe Ohio just called the chili bowl Kurt that’s what we call it the chili bowl
Man, grape crush. Drank it back in the 70's, in a bottle of course.
Remember, all Kenworth trucks are made in Chillicothe, Ohio
Safe travels trucking Kurt
Oh!!! Buy some extra grill bars.......just in case
Lol. And ur subs told ya another hundred times how to pronounce that town name. Looks like pronounced several ways.
😊 great video Kurt. Love that handsome talking German!!
Back in the late 70’s early 80’s Rt 30 across Indiana was so bad you drove 10 to 15 mph below the limit. I ran Rt 30 to Fort Wayne to a food warehouse called FMC every Sunday night. Was terrible and hated it .
Greetings Mr Kurt & Fam!!!!! Safe Travels & I feel Ya on the bad roads in several places.
Roads are totally shit here in Melbourne Australia. Victorian state government is not far away from bankruptcy. Between 2020 and 2023 they cut road funding by 45%.
if you haven’t already tried it maybe the red loc tight might help keep the bars tight. and then hearing you talk about being startled by the train reminded of the three times I got startled while driving back in the 70’s-80’s the first time and I had been told to expect to hear this sound as a lot of older trucks used them but I had backed into a inside dock I think there were probably 10 dock doors inside the building and I got in and got out of the truck and closed the overhead door and I was walking around the other trucks too get too the walk in door and steps to get up on the dock and it was pretty dark inside the building and as I rounded the corner some driver I didn’t know was in his truck and he started it up and it happened too have a air starter and if you have never heard one before it sounds like a impact wrench that they use for changing tires on semis but on steroids it is amazingly loud and in the dark and not expecting it I jumped at least three feet off the ground. then the second time I had been driving all day in a snow storm headed for Detroit and I stopped for the night in I think the town is Dexter Michigan it was the old 76 truck stop about 40 miles west of Detroit on 94 and I was tired and worn out from driving in the storm and I backed in between two rigs and I was catching up on my logbook and suddenly the truck on both sides of me started leaving at exactly the same time and it made my truck shake like it was moving and out of the corner of my eyes I could see their tractors getting farther away and it made it seem too me that my brakes had released and I was rolling backwards and it totally scared the hell out of me and I was pumping the brakes and it kept feeding like it was me that was moving until I realized it was them. then the third time I made it across the Wisconsin state line on I94 north of Chicago and just past the truck scale is a rest area and welcome center and I found a parking spot around 3:00 am and I went to bed and was sound asleep when I was woken up by my truck shaking and a pounding on my door so I got up and stuck my head out of the sleeper on the cabover peterbuilt and mind you I was a pretty big guy back then I was probably around 27 and I was 6’3” tall and about 335 lbs and the lot lizard that had climbed up the steps on the side of the truck was at least twice as big around as me and half as tall and I believe it would have taken less time to step over her than it would too walk around her and having been startled awake from a sound sleep and seeing this big heifer on the side of my truck trying too open the door I think actually made me scream lol
That stretch of 34 has never been smooth.
Mr.Kert the train scared you but JESUS was with you at all times always remembered that!!!!👍⛪🍦
Chill-a-cou-th-E Chillicothe Ohio
Great video Kurt
Opie is a good boy who deserves a cheeseburger id rather look at you Opie any ole day of the week y'all stay safe
Chill-uh-koth-e.
Amazing Goop or Gorilla glue on the bolts & in the hole where the bolts screw in that holds the grill bars will stop them from falling off!!!!
Have a safe trip my friend
Drive safe out there and see you next time
He is definitely going to the Hy-Vee Distribution center. Been there... Good luck
Like you Kurt, I typically didn't run fast when I was still driving. It's pretty bad when you don't feel like you can even
just run the speed limit without beating the snot out of your ride... It's not like the trucks, especially KW's and Pete's
are fragile and poorly constructed, but everything has its limits.
Are you using Nylok nuts on your grill bars ? They do a good job of keeping your nuts where they are supposed to be,
on the bolts. They can definitely save you some frustration.
Kurt, have you started the Germans on the Arthritis Shots yet ? You can update on your next video. I have one which is nine and it is starting in
Nice to see you today, and take a new adventure, with you and opie , keep them coming I do enjoy them, and be safe,
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for the shout out Kurt. Try this for how to say the name of my town. Chilly-Kaw-thee. That isn’t a english teacher way but it is truck driver way. By the way. Our town is names that because of the Shawnee Indian tribe which Tecumseh was the chief. There is a outdoor drama here about Tecumseh which is 21:11 really good. No way I am going to describe the way the Shawnee tribe said it the way it is now is the white man way of saying it. 😂😂😂
Train car is a caboose.
Chillicothe Smith, Ohio, where your truck was built
I feel like you’re saying Chariton IA. Think Sheridan on your pronunciation 😉
Sorry..I should’ve watched a lil longer🤦🏼♂️
Your very calming to watch thanks pro driva Woodstock ct
That's the goal
A salad with Italian dressing and chocolate milk...yuk. LOL to each his own.
BEAUTIFUL SUN SET 👍👍
And might I suggest to order an extra grill bar, keep it in the truck. That way when you have a spare with you, you won't need it.🙃
Back in the day i used to go in there. I was always told Chariton was pronounced like Sheridan. Never understood why they did it the hard way, other than they might have had an odd sense of humor listening to truck drivers trying to say it
Well that means my 1998 t800 was made there as well sweet
Chillicothe.......pronounced .... chill - a - cauthy
Pronounced "Chill -i -coth- ie". Gotta love those Hoosier roads!
Take care of you and the truck...😊
Chill-i-caa-thee !!!
A very nice video again loved it.
If you ever get east of Greenfield on I 70 you'll wish you were back on 34 I don't know how a road can be in such bad shape
That stretch is brutal
Hey Kurt. When you get to Chariton Iowa . You will be 15 miles from me .
good morning
The road between Galesburg and river is pretty rough.
That is Chariton ia ok you know ia
Chillicothe Ohio: chill-ith-coth-eee.
You're gonna go through Ottumwa. I live there.
try the green thread lock on the grill bolts with some lock washers
Been on the roads in Brokelahoma lately? One stretch so bad I slowed to 30mph to save my truck and equipment trailer loaded with a backhoe.
That state just gave up I think
It’s “chill-a-koth-ee”
Hi Kurt and Opie
I grew up in Ohio. We always pronounced it Chill- ahhh -coth-eee. IT could be worse. Drove an old awfulcar with 56K Hendrickson walking beam. The only air ride was the seat.
That speeding train could of been an Amtrak or passenger train. Don't quote me but l believe freight trains are limited nationally to 70 mph, and passenger trains will travel at 79+ mph.
The speed limit is a limit. That doesn’t mean you NEED to do that, like everybody thinks. There is a minimum and a limit. As long as your in that window, your fine. Who gives a crap if it makes people mad! That’s their problem.
Hey when are we getting the stryker fixed!!!
I was surprised to see shrink wrapped pallets and no load locker bars to secure them. Have you ever had a wrapped pallet come apart?
Not with these low loads. I have once in my 20 years had one rip. It was lunchables
Try using some rubber washers on the grill bars it might help.🇬🇧
If road condition is an issue, you might want to stay out of Michigan. 😎
Yes sir
could not agree with you more on the road conditions . i am in ohio near the river bad wood not describe it. baaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddddddd near wheeling wv
What? no load lock bars?
CHILL-ee-coat Ohio...same place where my T680 was built
Kurt trains don’t fly they roll lol. 😊
Lol
