- Tour through unknown Bangkok, the part of the city few people visit. It's amazing and the best way to do it is on a bike tour with my friend Wat.
We eat a lot of local Thai street food, we tour on the other side of the Chao Phraya River, and we learn more about Thai history and culture. Wat explains how Buddhism impacts everyday Thai life.
This is the top 25 things to do in Bangkok and now we are into the Top 10. So watch all these videos and you'll be able to plan your perfect trip to Bangkok. This is your ultimate Thailand Travel Guide.

Here's a link to book Wat's bike tour... it's an amazing tour hosted by an amazing guy! www.airbnb.com/experiences/315116?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=6e458289-5afb-4508-a163-05743a0bc1ca
Maybe it's me but the link isn't working 🤷🏻♀️
woo woo woo !!!
@@IppidoI am also getting "service error" on AirBnB after inputting payment info.
This sounds like something Rose might like.
OMG, I did his tour back in January 2019 when I first moved to Thailand and it was the best thing I ever did!! I am glad to see this guy is still around!
what an absolute banger of a video, bro! I've lived in Krung Thep for a decade and every single thing you showed here was new to me! Wow!
He said the Portuguese turned the Thai people from non spicy to spicy. That is an understatement. Thai people inhale handfuls of chilies each time they eat something.
Imagine being there when it clicked, excitement of spicy must have been amazing
Awesome tour❤
the small restaurant you visited at 4:15 is called Helo Nomsod. I ate there a few weeks ago, had the Khanom Jeen Kaeng Gaeng Kai which is one of their specialities. Thai/Portuguese fusion dish. Looks like you had the same, delicious.
Welcome across the river, Chris! I moved to this part of town almost 15 years ago and have loved every minute since. Thonburi is where general (later king) Taksin established the new capital after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, before the capital was moved across the river by king Rama 1 in 1782.
Trivia: Pierce Brosnan, aka 007 James Bond, beat you to this area by about 25 years as parts of Thonburi was used as a stand in for Ho Chi Minh City in Tomorrow Never Dies. Sin Sathorn Tower on Krung Thonburi rd. near the Krung Thonburi BTS station was villain Elliot Carver’s HQ in HCMC. One of the motorcycle chase scenes was actually shot right next door to where you had your morning coffee with Khun Wat.
Keep up the great work, stay happy, and keep enjoying wonderful Bangkok, mate!
amazing comment. my hope with this channel is that each video STARTS a conversation that others add to. so your useful information added onto this topic is EXACTLY what i'm hoping we get more of here. cheers!
Good extra info. Tourists often don’t get to that side of the river but there are interesting places to see
You have inspired me on these trips
Awesome!
Hey Chris this clip remind me about Mr.Jaroen from Bangkok Expat.going with bicycle.Have a safe cycling.🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
Greetings from Sweden! 🇸🇪
Thank you guys so much for this awesome channel!
Thank you too!
Skål!
I did this tour just last week. Totally recommended. Amazing tour. And, the advice to be hungry is very real.
honestly, your voice is so serene. So I became your fan. And egg noodles.5555
This is the tour on the Thonburi side. The Portuguese old quarter and Wat Kalayanimit are near the Chao Phraya river as it should be because those days, the river and canals are essential means of travelling and thus there are plenty of communities living near the river and canal. There are 2 types of Tom Yam, clear broth and thick broth. Most people see/eat thick broth tom yam.
Hi Chris, i love temples in Thailand. I've travelled all over the world, but Thailand has the most nicest temples of the whole world. I've seen more than 300 temples in Thailand. Besides amazinf nature, culture Thai people are the most friendely people on earth (also people from Laos)
No 1 Like. First time ever
well there ya go!
This series is so entertaining. I am glad you guys are puting in all this effort. Your fans love it!
Just booked this for Jan 2024 after watching this, thank you Chris 🙂
This is one of my favorite videos on the series. of course I also ride my bike around as my main form of transport so maybe it is right up my alley.. really cool one, and Wat seems like a nice guy. I will definitely look into booking his experience next time I am in Bangkok
As a Swede I am so grateful that this video popped up in my UA-cam feed now. Great bikeride tour, amazing sights, food & also your shoutout to Swedes. Shoutout to Gretzky fans out there 🤩🥳
We love you too! Coming to Bangkok and Koh Chang in February (1-14th) with two friends. If I see you I’m gonna give you a big hug (and a beer) for keeping me company through the pandemic. 🙏🙏
That’s hidden Gems.. I really want to be those places.
I found you yesterday and since then Im binge watching your videos through the nights. Youre doing an AWESOME job and its such a joy to watch the videos. Your positive energy is so ...how to put this.. it restores faith in humanity haha. Nice to see that people like you exist. I plan to travel to Thailand in winter and Im trying to "plan" my trip to an extent, but this country seems so overwhelming because it has SOOOOOO many thing I want to see/experience/taste. But for now, as my first step how to approach my trip, Im gonna continue to watch your videos. Greetings from Germany (let's see how far Germany has made it on your viewers list :D)
That’s a sweet cultural trip + workout. You’re selling me on Bangkok
Great Vid mate, that dude has a big mull plant on his neck. Cool.
I like the secret side of BKK #10, but what I like and need is a T-Shirt like that, please make it available on the next murch-drop.
stay tuned Theo......!!!
"Santa Cruz Church (Wat Kudichin)," Santa Cruz being a Portuguese word that means "Holy Cross." Santa Cruz Church is a historic Catholic church that was constructed in 1770 after King Taksin the Great granted the Portuguese a plot of land on which to construct their first church. It was originally all teak, but it was later burned, so it was rebuilt with a cement structure, with Renaissance and Neoclassical architectural styles dominating. The top of the red dome is remarkable. It resembles the dome of Florence Cathedral in Italy.
Thank you for this video, will defintly try this tour next visit.
You should!
Great video as always. Greetings from Sweden. 🇸🇪
I have often wondered who introduced the chilli to Thailand and now I know. That tour and Wat were both great.
Definitely going on this tour when I get back to BKK in January...💪🏾💪🏾
We did this tour yesterday. It was fantastic. Thank you for the recommendation!! :)
Abolutely the best!!! Real Bangkok. Love it!!!
One of my favourite videos. I went on a bicycle tour of the Green Lung in Bangkok. This is on my list for my trip to Bangkok. Love Nonthaburi
So cool!
It’s getting better!
What a cool idea for a city tour! Definitely on our "must-do" list for a future visit. And also nice to see Portugal and Thailand, two of my absolutely favourite countries in the world, brought together in this "unknown" part of Bangkok. Thanks for the tip, Chris. I'd have never have thought of this.
You being 1 step ahead of me again Chris.. It was only 6hrs ago when the global travel mate just gave me a link to his friend's bike tour business 55
Looks great man
The contrast between the old and modern buildings at 7:03 is a fantastic shot!
The top ten, we are there, wow! Love the back streets of Bangkok! I see a new Thailand vlogger happening, great guide Wat. Great find Chris I love seeing young youtube super stars when they get going. Enjoyed the video Chris!.
👋🏼Hello Chris! Episode 10 👍🏼👍🏼love Thai massages but unknown Bangkok is way better! ❤ we love being where the locals are. 🍻cheers🍻♥️🇨🇦 put it on your teenee app as well!
Nice to see the good influence of my fellow Portuguese ancestors!! Cheers for another great video Chris!!
Looks cozy, cant wait to bike ride
There are 2 thai dog breeds.
Thai Ridgeback dog (very short hair with a ridge) and the Bangkaew (long hair )
And the street dogs call thai dogs you can see some similairity with the Thai Ridgeback dog. I did bikking at 2007 chris and see manny dogs with thai breeders.
🙏🙏Thanks Chris 👍👍 that was the most interesting video on the other side of Bangkok most don't get to see. I wouldn't have survived the bike ride as I haven't ridden one since the early 70's 😂😂
Very nice, very nice experience sir 🙏
Thanks a lot
You are truly changing the lives of the Thai business owners that you feature in your videos. What you are accomplishing with your channel is nothing less than amazing. Keep up the good work, you have found your calling.
This was something completely different..... very nice !
Cool, I also have spent time in Thai homes and eaten many Thai cooked meals. I was married to a Thai woman from a farm in Surin for 15 years and we would from America to Thailand to visit her family.
Looking forward to each video buddy. Such a great job. Always so informative.
Actually Thai people have recipe that use spices ingredient more than thousand year ago. Spices are product from local plant such as chilli ,peppers , garunga , lemongrass , Thai people well known and taken them to cook chilli paste. Why hollanda and Portuguese have race to colonize java and sumatra in Indonesia last 500 years ago , cause there were the land of spices, they need to trade spices and sent to trade in Europe that brought wealth to them.
This year we had our hotel on this side of the Menam, Baan Wang Lang, and it was great. It is that what Bangkok was 20-30 years ago on the east side. And it was a perfect choice because I got back what I have missed in Bangkok since a decade.
I love to authentic Thai food ..
Best one yet I think #10 is going to make My Dream come true and make it to Bangkok!
so immersed in your video, I forgot the milk was boiling....what an improvement with your creative instinct, UA-cam must give you an award for this.
wow, thanks a lot!
Amazing.
This looks amazing, definitely going to do this next time! I did an electric scooter activity on airbnb too and it was one of the best things I did in Bangkok to discover it in another way
So cool!
good vdo
Thanks!
oh wow, thanks Jerry!
Such an interesting way to see the city. I am fortunate to have my wife’s family taking me to a lot of the more local spaces, but this would certainly be a fun experience.
Thank you for sharing the great VDO 👌🏼🙏
Thanks for visiting
That was an amazing video, would love to see more of that side.
10 miljon live in Sweden, 10:s place on your list, thats great!
That’s a great #10! I love these little sois!
This is my community area.
The same way of life that has not changed for more than 100 years.
It is an old way of life and remains in the rapidly growing capital city.
It is a community of Portuguese foreigners who have lived together for a long time until being Thai. But still follow the Christian religion according to the ancestors This community remains one of the most intact in Bangkok.
I sure can relate to the food stops along the tour. I'm married to a Thai. A few years back we visited some friends on Staten Island. We took the ferry to Manhattan, which lands near the start of Broadway. Looking at Google Maps today, we couldn't have walked more than 2000 ft up Broadway and she had already stopped 3 places for food.😀
Interesting!
Excellent, Chris!!! You are slowly convincing me 🇹🇭 would be better than 🇵🇭 .....
Great video again Chris! My guess for number 9 , maybe a dinner cruise on the Chaopraya?
that's a good one, but you'll have to stay tuned to find out!
Definitely my speed. Will take an authentic local experience over a tourist site any day!
Now that was cool. I would love to take a tour of off the beaten Thailand. I have always been interested in seeing the life of the locals.
Hey Chris, don't skip Mark's number 10 Thai massage rule!
Just another great video. and guess what.. i learn something new today while watching your video, interesting with such narrow alleys
the streets on the other side of the Chao Phraya River
This is now on my bucket list :)
thanks Chris. you work for us :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@RetiredWorkingForYou every second of it. :)
Hi from Chiang Mai. Bangkok was overwhelming the first few times I visited. But when you break it down into these little neighborhoods and hidden treasures it’s not intimidating. Enjoying this series. Great work.
Shout out to you Chris and all your crew for a good job on your newsletter, I’ve got the Teenee I’m sure it’ll be helpful when we get there in January. Cheers to all.
My favourite so far of the new series bro ❤😊

Fantastic video! These are things that many will never take the time to see. I am excited to see the other side of the river!
Did you mean to play “The First Noel” at the Temple? 😂😂😂
Oh man, now THIS has peaked my interest on my return to Bangkok. Great find!
Just subscribed after watching a lot of your videos in the Greatest List of All Time series. Thank you for your efforts -great to watch and has given me lots to emulate in Feb when I visit!
I was thinking about getting this tour on AIRBNB... Now I just watched theis video I wouldn't even think about it as it is way to boring 😆
Thanks Chris! That was delicious 😅
Yes it was!
Excellent job Wat, Chris and Adam.
Definitely a unique way to see and experience Thailand. Adam your doing a fantastic job staying on top of the action especially on wheels 👏 👍.
After all the bike riding maybe a Thai massage at the end of the day ❤
Thanks for sharing all these videos with us. I will book this your when I am coming to Thailand in May. Greetings from Norway ☺️
This was a really great addition to the list. I can't wait to do this.
Amazing choice of music for this video, btw! Shazammed it! 😂
Cool tour Chris. Thanks for making this!
European maritime colonial powers brought hot chillies from Central and South America to all of Asia, not just Thailand. The hottest Thai chilli came from today's Mexico. Also, a # of exotic fruits that grow well in Thailand, well, the same thing. My favorite Portuguese sweet that made it to Asia is the custard tart. You can find them in Bangkok. Originally made in Lisbon.
Viewing rankings at Bangkok No. 10✌️🇹🇭👍
Good watch as always!
Thanks team.
🌶️🌶️🇹🇭🇭🇲🍻🇭🇲🇹🇭🌶️🌶️ Big B
Explore Thonburi Canal as no.8?
Really enjoyed this video in this series. This was very unique and different. This looks like a really good tour.
Awesome. I'll likely try that. Looking forward to the top 9!
Thanks for another awesome video, Chris. I have found that all of my favorite spots have been off the beaten path.
Sweetness
Would be great if you can give an idea about the places in this video and the location. Like the last place a living room used as a make shift food outlet would love to know the location. Not every viewers can afford to book these tours for me personally it's expensive at around 60 USD. BTW visiting Bangkok in March.
Thank you for the videos
