im from the central coast and i surf out here. water is definitely colder ha and yeah all those sea lions are crazy up north near hearst castle.. I also saw about 20 otters in the bay right near morro rock the other day.
In my California days back in the 80's I used to shop at a place called Mrs. Gooch's later bought by Whole Foods. I saw Elvira shopping there often. Pretty lady.
The last time I went to California to visit family out there it was a blast. My family lives in Oceanside & we went to the San Diego Zoo as well as old town. I could spend all day at old town
New subscriber here, Ken. I'm a Mercur razor fan and found my two piece model 20C to be my favorite of the three that I own. I found that my horse hair Cremo brush goes well with their shave cream, also. I believe that it's the slickness of the product that gets the job done. As for the brush, I didn't have any smell from my brush either, but in order to keep the handle intact with the bristles, I wouldn't soak the whole brush. I had to repair my brush after making that mistake. I'd like to recommend that you try the "Concord" blade. I happened to get a pack of them in a sample pack off of Amazon. I used my 20C and the Cremo shave cream and I was totally amazed at its performance. It gave me the closest and most irritation free shave that I've ever experienced and I've been through a few different brands of blades, quite a few. To have such a fantastic blade you'd think that they would at least print the company's name on the paper insert, but there was only an icon indicating that you should dispose of it properly. Such modesty for such an excellent blade! May peace be with you, Ken. I'm glad that I subbed.
I am a big fan of the Cremo shaving creams. I use the concentrated shaving cream from the tube as a pre-shave, and have found great success with it. I would recommend using the original over the cooling for that purpose though. The original has a very mild orange scent that fades quickly, whereas the cooling has a knock you down menthol that will overpower any soap you use over it. I just wet my face, use a small dab from the tube as pre-shave, and then follow my normal lathering routine with whatever soap I feel like at the time. It adds a considerable layer of slickness to all of my soaps. Keep up the great work good sir, I thoroughly enjoy your videos!
I've found that the Cremo creams seem to be all slickness, no cushion for the most part. I don't know if I could use one regularly as a full-on shave cream, but as a pre-shave, I think it would be hard to beat.
OK. Ken...the brush doesn't stink... I got mine in yesterday. I made it through 2 passes and had to switch to a synthetic. And I can STILL catch the odd whiff of that foul smelling brush. I'm going to shampoo rinse and dry it a few dozen times and see if that helps. I'm just glad they are cheap enough to re-purpose to computer dust brushes if I can't get that smell out.
I just started watching a week ago I’m new to wet shaving. I like that you mentioned the central coast that’s where I live. I’m only 30 mins from Cumbria and Hearst castle. Like the videos Ken thanks for the reviews
Hey, love your channel. I'm new to wet shaving. Watching your videos not only helped me alot with learning, but your stories and stuff are very entertaining and enjoyable. Keep up the good work man. You've got yourself a new subscriber!... Matt.
Great shave Ken, got my cremo horse hair shaving brush about 6 months ago and it took about 3 weeks to get the stink out. I have all 4 of there shave creams. If you want to bring a tear to your eyes try there Cooling,it will lather, but not great. Have a great day
Brian B. Brian IMO Cremo is a lousy shave soap, it’s thin , doesn’t hold a lather but it’s a wicket pre-shave, slicker than snot. It’s cheap I buy it at Walgreens I use it every shave, the more water the slicker it gets. Now, if you’re gonna travel and like the idea of just carrying a tube of Cremo and your DE that’s fine but long term use lathering up with quality soaps and good a brush what it’s all about. 👍🙃
Ken, Cremo is a fabulous fair priced pre-shave, very slick but not good enough for regular shaves. I’ll keep buying it because it’s the best pre-shave on the market. Like you said easy to find, the cool version is awesome.
Nice review as always, Ken. I don't own any horsehair brushes, so I might give the Cremo brush a try. Great hands there at the end. You've become quite adept at camera saves! :)
I bought this based on the vid. First time it was a bit runny, worked ok (very slippery). The second time, better lather (used a pylsoft brush) but it dried on my skin half way and was a tad sticky....had to add more water.... seems like it has too many artificial ingridients for my skin.... no cuts. I found some "special ed" Cremo lathering soap in a Xmas kit w the horse brush *mine stank* but this soap is btr..... Good info thanks
i feel the way you opened it.. im a barber i dont think it's supposed to be mixed but there is that choice.. i think it's supposed to be used as a face lather cause it's a whipped sorta cream.... but thanks for doing it this way to show that you can do it this way .. but i feel like it is a whipped sorta cream and face lather just from the tin as you got it... but thanks again for doing it like this!
I’ve seen those seals and they are quite a sight. I received the Atomic Rocket 🚀 synthetic brush from PAA and it’s huge! I’ll be trying it out tomorrow.
I just tried this and it's not bad, but how in the hell did you get it to lather so freaking thick. Maybe I just need to spend more time lathering? What was your technique you used for a bowl lather using this cream?
Kensurfs I actually learned that one from Leonard you borrow, he talked about it on a video; I tried it, and I really like it. I sure hope I got his last name right.
Hello Kensurfs! Great product review, man. I see Cremo all the time at my local Walgreens. However, I am allergic to nuts, and all their shaving creams/soaps seem to have macadamia nut extract. So, I use Ogallala shaving soap, instead. (Walking around with a face the color of bricks, and an itchy rash, no thanks.) Cremo looks like it works well, though. Elvira is the Goddess of Cool Chicks. She could even give Raquel Welch a run for her money.
I was late to the CREMO shave experience, til today. Found brand new sealed in box, a 4.5 oz of CREMO Reserve blend shaving cream, and the CREMO horsehair brush. Stuff smells amazing?
The issue of brush making and cruelty is valid and complex, too. I also own badger hair brushes, although I've made an effort to stop buying them. Probably, more than 90% of the badger hair that goes to make our brushes in the west (Europe, Americas) comes from China. I don't think animal welfare is a priority there. To be fair, there are other places than China which isn't there either. We should spare a thought, I think, about the welfare of the animals used to make our badger brushes. For boar brushes, it's a slightly different matter for boars are any way killed for meat consumption. Except if one were to completely reject meat eating, and some people do. I buy boar brushes, because there is a wider use of what the animal is made to offer. With badgers though, their use is for brush making and little else besides. Perhaps as wet shavers, one day we might put pressure on those who source the badger hair that some animal welfare standards are upheld. We fund this badger hair sourcing, after all. There is little doubt, however, that if one wants entirely cruelty free shave brushes, then horse and synthetics are the way to go. I should stress, no offense meant to any one who buys badger hair brushes (I've said I own some myself). No offense meant either to the people of China. Animal cruelty is not exclusive to any geographic location, most unfortunately. Just some thoughts by a wet shaver. Cheers
Horse hair works pretty good too... but I guess it doesn't have the cachet of badger hair. As it is, I don't own any badger brushes for the reasons you mentioned- only horse hair or synthetic (Omega S Brush).
Man Ken, you need something like Oral B uses for it's phone holder with their new brush. It has a locking suction cup and oh boy is it strong. Full 360, nice tight grip on the phone and the mirror.
Hey Ken... Got the Cremo in the blue tube...haven't tried yet, but it's supposed to be super slick...as long as you get your face hot first. Trying out Cremo's new face wash and moisturizer. Pretty good stuff, especially for the price (WCS). Just found latest DE shave heaven: Timeless Razor with a PolSilver blade. Incredible combo! Italian smooth... Hey...have you ever heard or tried New York Shaving Company soap? $20 clams a tub, handmade in NYC. Used "Old St Patrick's" today for the first time. Excellent!!! A little like TOBS sandalwood (but better). Really nice stuff, especially with the holidays coming...like a spicy toddy for your face. Got a tried the Elvado. Great scent (like key lime pie).
Cremo lather does not have to be thick to work because it is extremely slick. You can just dampen fingertips and work the face and it will still work very well...but guys are obsessed with it having to be a thick lather.
It's All Your Fault! I recently viewed this video of the Cremo Horsehair brush. I've got several badger brushes, but actually prefer the performance of my synthetics. The Cremo horsehair brush is just the ticket. Kudos for your review! It's a smaller brush than many of the more trendy floor mop-sized brushes & lathers like a demon. It's a top contender vying for my Favorite Brush position on the brush shelf.
I bought some Cremo but got the stuff for head shaving , it was slick though . Thats a nice shave Ken . Don't feed the sharks (or critics) . Haha its always nice to get compliments especially by hot girls . Thanks Ken
Jim King The type I used was the soft soap, no brush required. I hear they have a harder Soap but I have t tried that one yet. Are you using the soft soap like I did?
Have you tried the Cremo shaving Cream that comes in a Tube, if you have used it before what is your opinion about it? I was thinking about buying the Cremo Cooling Refreshing Mint tube in Target. Thanks!
I bought a jar of the cremo sandalwood cream. Used t once and threw it away. To me it smelled horrible. Also I bought the same horse hair brush and it smelled horrible. I had to break in the brush for about 2 weeks. After the break in period the brush performs well and smells ok.
This is very late but I'm 21 and slowly growing facial hair lol hard gainer I guess but there's something satisfying about wetshaving with a larger a safety razor or a straight razor
Kegan Doyle I went with the badger and the Barrel handle. Mine has a huge knot and works great. His products are pretty cool. What design are you getting
Horsehair brushes still somewhat underrated, obviously WW1 anthrax issues. Silly, as cruelty free n combining backbone of boar with tips of badgers. Provided chance must try Zenith 27mm black horse, which qualitywise meets Vie-Long, but with larger knot. Singapore greetings.
While I was shopping with my brothers and a cousin at a local Target store in Chicago, I found that Cremo cream in a tub. I'm gonna get one when I get into wet shaving. Anyway, my request for you to do a Halloweeen shave with the Hallows has been granted, and I really hope you do a video of the Halloween shave
Only recently have I started watching wet shave videos, maybe about 3 or 4 days. I've been wet-shaving my whole life. I think I realise now, I have a very profound jaw bone. All these guys I see shaving on YT, they have no chins. When they look upwards, their chin blends almost contourlessly into their neck all the way down into their chest and shoulders. For me when I do so, there is still a big curvature from my jawbone to the deepest part under my chin, and then my neck also curves around my carotids and my windpipe/Adam's apple. Shaving there is always a bloodbath. It doesn't help that I have a thick beard too. It's no wonder that these guys enjoy shaving...
Your a cool dude man . I get Encourage on the new stuff and tips and talks about life life and the pass.. Your funny at times too.... I tried to order the Wild West stuff you showed last Sat. Or so but I guess I well have to call them with my Credit card Number etc. Have you used it yet ? I am not sure if you have tried it or not ? Ok thanks for your help. Bill
Hey I’m new to you’re page I’ve been loving it young fella I’m also new to the shave game. Just wanted to know you’re thoughts I don’t shave my face but I shave my head I’m a beginner for sure what if u could recommend for me a full set up and I would love some of that sandalwood soap plz write back if u can
Garry Bryant The DE razors can take a while to get used too. Another Cut Above does lots of head shaves. I’ll get you a link. I’d try a mild razor like a Merkur 34C as a start with personna blue blades or Gillette Wilkinson swords.
Good morning Ken! I saw the video of the shooting...attacking a police officer always ends badly...sad. Vie-Long is pronounced VEE-A-LONG. The soap looks like marshmallow fluff...yum. Nice Elephant Seals...I wonder if the sharks are waiting just off that beach? I was wishing for the lather to thicker and it seems to dissipate. Artisan shave soaps, the great ones, make most commercially produced soaps look mediocre by comparison. I think the vintage soaps I have in my den are great and as good as all the artisans soaps I have in stock. The best of them are: Pre-1960 Williams Mug, 1968 Williams Tonsorial cake, 1960 Yardley, and 1947 Old Spice shaving soap. I will throw in Mitchell's into the list as well. All these commercially produced soaps are excellent! I will admit the lather in the end look better and the shave progress nicely. Oh, wow. I wish I had heard about the Elvira show...I would have caught the train to LA...and went. Please enjoy the show. Take care Ken!
I have nearly a full bottle of the Original Eternity. My sister gave it to me as a Christmas Gift way back in the day and I really liked the scent. Unfortunately, it never brought me so much as the attention of a female housefly... :D It's true...you'll see... ;-)
Hey Ken, been subscribed to your channel since February but I haven't been able to catch many of your uploads lately. I was wondering why you decided to make your videos longer? I kinda liked it when you tried to stay under 10 minutes. I think UA-cam is awash with overly long wet shaving videos as it is. But either way, I appreciate what you do, this is still my favorite wet shaving channel around. Keep up the good work!
namedoesmatter It was at a request of viewers to do a third pass. I only do this once in a while but it added about 5 minutes to the videos. Ideally they should run 10-13 minutes. Depends how caffeinated I am lol 👍💈
No Cremo available here in Belgium unfortunately. Its amazing how the US market is big and cheap. Heck u guys even complain for 5$ a GALLON gas, here we pay over 8$ a gallon. Everything is so cheap in the US, hahaa. And also u hardly pay any taxes too, amazing.
ken, nice show!! the cremo horse hair brush is made in china now!! i called target and got the retail mgr. and he confirmed that the brushes are now made in china and what was the difference between the brushes. i told him i didn't know but i had my heart set on the vie long brush made in spain which is one of the top producers of horse hair brushes. no more response from target!! maybe you can into it in calif. and let me know. THANKS< HARRY_MONTGOMERY< AL>

Jeffrey Ramsower 👍👍💈
These classic "camera is about fall" actions get me every time. One could say that they are now a trademark of Ken^^.
Northern Frisian Thank you👍💈
Been meaning to try this stuff. Also noticed that Cremo recently introduced a shave stick. The slicker the soap, the better. Good review.
In my California days back in the 80's I used to shop at a place called Mrs. Gooch's later bought by Whole Foods. I saw Elvira shopping there often. Pretty lady.
I use the Citrus Cremo in the red and white tube as a preshave. Very slick product.
Lynn White I was impressed how slick it was👍💈

I really like your *Merkur 34G.*
Thanks for the shave Ken!

Wow, beautiful catch.
Dennis ODrane Thank you👍💈
I just picked this Cremo up and I will try it out tomorrow. I really wanted the brush, but held off for now.
Ken should I soak a synthetic brush also?
Nice lather. A lot of the people online say it essentially doesn't lather, but it looks like it performed well for you.
What line of work are you in Ken? Excellent video
Mike Braun I’m a Civil Engineer working for the State of California 👍💈
I love the smell of Sandalwood shave cream and sandalwood cologne too. :-)
Paul McWilliams very good Paul👍💈
Hi Ken, I've tried this product cup lather, and face lather. Face lather with cremo worked best.
Michael Johnson That Cremo is so soft I agree that it’s probably better to be face lathered
Were glad it worked well for you, thanks for the support.
Oh! I never seen this blade. You know how to surprise.

I’ve seen those seals and they are quite a sight. I received the Atomic Rocket 🚀 synthetic brush from PAA and it’s huge! I’ll be trying it out tomorrow.
Tim Omick very cool, how did it work?👍💈
Kensurfs
Used it tonight, it’s a fantastic brush, and you can’t beat the price. I highly recommend it!
When Ken said some seals go out and come back, I had been watching Shark Week on Discovery and thought “most come back, no thanks to the sharks”...lol
I just tried this and it's not bad, but how in the hell did you get it to lather so freaking thick. Maybe I just need to spend more time lathering? What was your technique you used for a bowl lather using this cream?
Danton Barnes The horsehair brush really helped, very stiff compared to a synthetic or badger👍💈
Nice save at the end.
abe frohman lol..thanks👍💈
Abe Frohman? You mean The Sausage King of Chicago?
One of these times, try using the Cremo as a pre-shave, I do that from time to time, and it works very well.
just Lance It sure is soft and slick enough for a Preshave 👍💈💈
Kensurfs I actually learned that one from Leonard you borrow, he talked about it on a video; I tried it, and I really like it. I sure hope I got his last name right.

Marshall USMC It's a mild razor so I find most blades work excellent 👍💈
Horsehair brushes still somewhat underrated, obviously WW1 anthrax issues. Silly, as cruelty free n combining backbone of boar with tips of badgers. Provided chance must try Zenith 27mm black horse, which qualitywise meets Vie-Long, but with larger knot. Singapore greetings.
Achim Kohlhage 👍👍Thank you Achim💈
I own all types of brushes, and it's always the horse hair brushes that make the creamiest lathers for me.
Hey Ken, I can’t get a good lather with that Cremo in a jar. What’s your secret?
Jim King i think its more of a soft cream than a hard cream that you brush to a thick lather👍💈
GoldenSteelTV Will do👍👍💈
what size knot does an ever ready 100t have?
Louie hernandez I’m not sure but I had a 21mm that I restored with. I’m pretty sure that was the knot👍💈
OettingerCroat I️ think once you get a razor and blade combo that fits your face it is much better. Some razors cut me bad👍💈
Thank you for your reply kind sir
Nice shave. 👍💈😎😎💈
Second Kind Of Cool Thank you👍💈💈
I bet it took 3 weeks to get my cremo horsehair to not stink. Maybe they fixed the problem.
Cincy Shaves I couldn't believe mine was pretty much odor free
Kensurfs Maybe you're was from a high class horse.
My brush still has a minor odor but it's not as potent as It use to be and I think I use it once every week for the past month and a half
Bill
William E I'll ask him and see what he says👍💈
Kensurfs
Ok no problem thanks
My brush smelled horrible!! I just got it today. It smells like the horse got scared before his tail got trimmed.... If you know what I mean.
Jimmy Shavesalot It took weeks for the smell to go away👍💈

Cremo vs. TOBS?
Fukushima Daiichi TOBS👍👍💈💈
Hey I’m new to you’re page I’ve been loving it young fella I’m also new to the shave game. Just wanted to know you’re thoughts I don’t shave my face but I shave my head I’m a beginner for sure what if u could recommend for me a full set up and I would love some of that sandalwood soap plz write back if u can
Garry Bryant The DE razors can take a while to get used too. Another Cut Above does lots of head shaves. I’ll get you a link. I’d try a mild razor like a Merkur 34C as a start with personna blue blades or Gillette Wilkinson swords.

Animal hair really make that much of a difference? I’m fine with my synthetic brush from RazoRock.
BG me too honestly👍💈
Why go to the time, expense and trouble of using a brush? Cremo works great using fingers. Maybe people with OCD get satisfaction from a brush.
CARL LOGAN 👍👍💈
Todd F She actually is playing every night at Knotts Halloween Haunt until 10/31. I'm going on the 12th or 13th
Thanks Ken. I will look at the website.
I have nearly a full bottle of the Original Eternity. My sister gave it to me as a Christmas Gift way back in the day and I really liked the scent. Unfortunately, it never brought me so much as the attention of a female housefly... :D
It's true...you'll see... ;-)
WolfRanger2008 It seems to have a scent that lasts strong for a long time. My wife also does not like it probably because of that incident...lol
Something else:
Occasional irritation or razor burn/ nicks?
Try Clubman's bump repair gel overnight on a washed face.
Like magic!
Cheap too.

Depends how caffeinated I am lol 👍💈
can you do a schick super ii razor shave thanks
TheCassettemaster I’ll see what I can do. I did a really nice shave with s Schick Delux Trac 2 already too👍

I think it is a cream and not a soap, that's why.
Scheefinator You are correct. Works great though👍💈
