This is the snapshot in time of Disney World I would want to revisit most. Horizons, Journey Into Imagination, World of Motion, 20,000 Leagues, Toad, Dream Flight, and so so many more favorites that are no more.
A wonderful era - wholesome and more innocent than today. My parents could never afford a holiday like this, however they did the next best thing and got one of those free 'mail order' promo tapes. Me and my sister practically wore the VHS out! It was very similar to this UA-cam video. I usually refrain from the "back in my day" drones, but I really am glad that I was young during this era. Each successive generation will look on the next with dismay and confusion, nothing new there. Life has changed so much over the last 30 years however, that children grow up today bombarded with media vying for their attention. To think that we could only watch cartoons at certain times of certain days is borderline alien, now. Many thanks for bringing back the memories.
@R K no it was nicer then than now no matter what your age. Trees! They cooled the hub. Less crowded, cleaner and better food and quality merchandise. Recently found napkins printed with this logo recently now WDW uses thin ugly brown ones. Also found my one day ticket, so much cheaper.
LIved in Jacksonville from 1991-95 and my family able to visit WDW several times a year. Each time, I always made sure to catch these at the resort. Man, I miss this time period for the parks (especially EPCOT), the best.
EPCOT really was amazing during that time. And I'd go back to the opening of Wonders of Life, that's the start of the glory years of EPCOT. I'll never understand why Disney with all it's dough couldn't plunk down to keep EPCOT up to date.
I actually went to Walt Disney World in the summer of 1992 with my mom and grandma so this is probably the same video that was shown on the Resort Information Channel back then. We also went to the character breakfast on the Empress Lily that is mentioned in this video. Thanks for sharing this.
Remember going to WDW during the 20th anniversary celebration. I won a free theme park ticket as they were giving away prizes every 20 seconds to guests. I cant believe WDW 50th anniversary is getting close Oct. 2021 and wonder what the 50th logo will look like and what surprises or new attractions they will have. Where did 30 years go??
So nice to see the Disney World of my younger years. I'm so glad I was able to enjoy these old attractions including Discovery Island. Thank you so much.
Discovery Island 😢 the old Disney village and restaurants I’m in tears. No words. I’m ugly crying uncontrollably rt now and I’m sure my neighbors can hear
River Country was the most fun "swimming hole" in the World! So many rides and attractions gone now😢Tragic Kingdom now😞 I took my kids to Tom Sawyer's Island for the balance rock that I thought was magic, so cool but it's gone. Simple things are just no longer there in the Magic Kingdom. Massive changes @EPCOT and MGM😢💔
Thanks for posting this. Wow, what a rush of nostalgia. These were the glory years of Disney World, that's for sure. I wish they would have kept Epcot up better - refreshed the technology and the messaging as things advanced. They could have whole RF rooms where kids can play with wireless frequencies and stuff. It's a shame, really.
Thanks so much to your team, this may have been my favorite trip to WDW. So much is now gone from the 20 Magical ears Celebration, so many changes and not all for the better. I sometimes stand and look around to just reminiscence about what was. Each trip these past 5 years as the crowds increased, I feel like the magic is no longer appreciated. It's hard for me to even explain to my family but I feel people now go to check off their bucket list never acknowledging the details placed by Imagineering. And that's surely noticed by the executives(2 Bobs) so that the castmembers hours and hours of operation were cut. Quality and cleanliness has declined as more rooms were added to cram more guests into each park(especially the ever expanding DVC). And of course the price just kept climbing way faster than inflation " to decrease the crowds" but that didn't work out, the Magic Kingdom looks abused in 2019 and more rides broke down. The additional ticket events kept getting increased nights added plus more people allowed to purchase tickets. That left fewer hours available to a person who purchased a 4 day park ticket without PH option for their trip. The quality of food and merchandise has declined as the price increased. And it's way more affordable to stay off property now than it was, perks aren't much anymore. I have no desire for extra magic hours being in the morning(i miss the Magic Kingdom's Good Morning opening) and I am not getting up to be in SWGE @4 am! Gone are the days of a late night in the Magic Kingdom, arriving in your room @2am, never will there be a 24 hour event again. And now with CoVid, how the parks operate again when they reopen is anybody's guess but it will never be the same. I had hoped this May to book 1 last great trip for the 50th on 1 October, 2021 but now I just don't know. Sorry for writing a mini-book here but this video made me more nostalgic than any. Thanks again.
An important reason why prices have gone up is notice that almost every ride and show had a sponcer then now a days no company is giving disney free money to have thier names on the rides.
This is so great to see again... I always wished as a kid I had a way to record these Information Channels, because we always had it on our room TV whenever we were there (still do). But I kind of went into shock when I heard the phrase "Escape Tricky Trolls..." my brother and I loved that as kids, that's the hidden gem of this video for me. I can't believe this was 30 years ago, I'm so glad you guys kept all this stuff, it means a lot to some of us fans -thanks
Tim L Back then, the only...viable way to capture this if you want to call it that would have been to take your VCR plus the right cables needed to run between the VCR and the TV down to Disney with you. Though a few folks did it, that just wasn’t realistic for most of us since the VHS VCRs weren’t exactly small and compact. Then there was the whole issue over doing it without getting caught. I really am glad someone did it for us though. I had thought of it at the time but there was no chance in hell my folks would have let me take the family VCR down there to do this 😂
@@BhChicagoTVStationhistoriesand I remember in the late 80's there were some VHS camcorders that had inputs to record and edit videos from the camera... and in the early 90's my parents joined the original DVC, which is now called Old Key West, but back then they had VCR's in the rooms, you could "rent" Disney movies on VHS at the Hospitality House there. My brother and I considered using that to record the Park TV channel
OMG! I literally just found a souvenir bag of that year with the same logo of the 20 years of Disney world in my attic just 2 weeks ago! It is kinda falling apart but it is amazing that i found that and now I see this video!!
I had just been cleaning and found printed paper napkins with this logo and the one day park admission, still in great shape. My ears with this logo are more worn, they're the only Mickey ears I own. I would wear them for a pic and then put away, last time was on the 45th. I do have a couple Minnie earbands, just not the same.
More Muppets please. Seriously though to think that movies and shows were done at MGM blows my mind. Has the Splash fountain been demolished? I think that's the first movie I watched with Tom Hanks.
@@secretpersond8324 1 Billion dollars for 2 rides and very expensive merchandise and food, drinks. I couldn't make myself get up at 4am to go to SWGE in December. It will still be there for next time at a decent hour for a vacation.
This was the year I got to go to WDW, when I was a kid (August '92). Sadly due to time and money, we didn't get to see as much as we wanted (a week is hardly enough time). Brings back many memories.
We couldnt afford Disney World when I was a kid. First and only time Ive gone was is 2002. I would have loved to see the 90's Disney World when I was still a kid at the time❤
I'd like a WEST WORLD type of experience where you could go to the Disney Parks from different eras -- with cast members and visitors in period costume, old rides/attractions. 1992 Disney World! 1984 EPCOT!
Avery the Cuban-American dude, I just have to say I always see you in the comments like every once in a while on a UA-cam video, and it’s showing me that you have a very very wide variety of things you like. I literally feel we like a lot of the same things. Very cool to see someone who loves new and old things from movies, parks, songs, video games and more. I also am Cuban-American. lol
You can’t tell me things have gotten better from this time… it’s only gone down hill…. As a Disney world frequent flyer I’ve seen the de-imagining of imagineering as parks get more and more mainstream bland. Modern Disney world has lost the magic, but I still go under the memories of what once was.
I was there in June. They were testing Splash Mountain with castmembers. I wanted to ride that so bad! I love it now, breaks down so much though and if I go in January then it's down for refurbishment.
Professor Alita McFly Thank God whoever captured it did so and that it’s all survived up until now. Stuff like this either gets taped over or sits in a box in a dark room for decades. Most of the Resort TV stuff from the 90’s has been preserved thankfully. The audio and video quality are excellent considering it’s age.
That's how his greeting was on the Disney show opening during the 80s. I now think the 2 Bobs have hurt WDW more than Eisner. The magic and soul have been diminished since 2015.
While chatting on a current livestream at HollywoodStudios I mentioned that I watched TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles live and on stage. One of the moderators and several patrons said "Impossible!" .... Disney didn't have rights to TMNT and I must be thinking about UniversalStudios. It's not easy being 🦕🦕Retro🦕🦕(Time Marker 39:02 )
its amazing how much of this excitement and atmosphere doesn't' exist at WDW anymore. MGM studios barely has anything to do with actual movies or movie making these days. I won't even touch on the woke mind virus and DEI propaganda that seems to have infected every disney property.

Wow. My wife and I went on our honeymoon in November 1992 and this brings back so many amazing memories or a time when Disney was magical.
Very true..The magic is long gone

tbf change at MK takes a while due to it being a destination park where people expect to experience the same things every year
I miss the old MGM Studios park so much. :( It's heartbreaking to see most of it is completely gone.
