She is THE fucking QUEEN! I am a white Russian boy, who was born in 1995 - it's 62 years after she was. We couldn't be more different. But still, for me, she is THE QUEEN.
All my classic collection from jazz and soul music from the 60 to the 80 are from black entertainers. And it´s just killing me to think they were catching hell from everywhere at the time.
the person who rwrote the songs for hair (i dont remember her name) was the best friend of Nina (earded on the movie where are you Nina) thats why she decide to sing her song !

The meaning of Nina is: "Darling, dear, little girl, lovely eyed, bejeweled, and slender, little one. The precious talent from the most high God." Thank you, Nina! 🙏💖🏺🌊✨️
I walked into a rehab after battling from heroin addiction for 15 years.i was going through very tough time and I heard this song playing in the common area.after listening to this song It me so hard..everytime when I listen to this song I start to cry but those were the tears and the pain I went through those 15 years.but today these are tears of happy joys and free..thank u love Nina Simone for giving the push that I needed for so long.your kind and brave words have helped change my life may god bless you where ever you are I love you.
This song makes me feel melancholic because of its lyrics. I was homeless in NYC for about a year. Living on the streets, panhandling and waiting (hoping?) to die soon. Luckily I got a helping hand and got my life back. It was an experience which I don't wish upon anyone.
How has someone provided help to you, Nicholas? Sometimes it feels a little threatening, because the person may be under drug effect or maybe in an extreme inward-looking introspective mood. I wonder how one could approach and offer effective help to people in homeless situation. How did it happen to you? I may be a random stranger, but your comment made me feel so very glad for you, mate. Peace.
I met someone from the same country as me while on the street and he felt compelled to help out. Took me to his place to shower and shave, introduced me to others who are also from the same country as us. Some of them also wanted to help and they chipped in to get me a room. Then they made a few calls to see anyone was looking for staff. Someone needed a cook. It was quite quick to be honest :) thank you for asking.
@@michaelkylow4411 now you're right, most of the homeless do drugs and believe me in some cases, it's not even a choice. I was lucky to be off the streets in a timely manner. However, you can tell in a short conversation whether the person is under the influence of any substance or not. Don't be scared, make small talk. 9 out of 10 are decent and harmless people. Just unlucky.
Merci Nina.
So once upon a time, I was at the lowest point in life, I took this song, made it my anthem and digested it. This song became strength, then the table turned. Now it's all over, here I am listening to this masterpiece and just chill.

When you get to a point in life spiritually when you realize all the things you found on earth, including family, do not and never will belong to you... All you have is all that God gave you when You came into this mortal body. Anything else is a tool for one to better their lives as well as the rest of humanity. It is truly heartbreaking when we forget and live as though we will never leave these mortal bodies.💜💜💜
I mean, in my opinion we won't and even if we could - why? DMT is a helluva drug and the Human Pineal Gland is one of the best producers of it. However and that being said, the atoms that make up the corporeal body, of which the atoms that constitute the psyche - while being a clear product of said body and as a direct consequence of that fact constitute a direct producer of the soul, are as one. The soul, as a direct biological and chemical event/reaction/process rather than an unknown metaphysical mystery, will die and decompose as we all must. Following this event? Everything that constitutes my body, both biological in nature and even the base inorganic carbon will be repurposed to create and support more life, in the furtherance of life. In that respect? Metaphorically nobody ever really completely dies and quite literally we all are one. I don't need a reward for not punching myself in the face. Though when I do punch myself in the face the pain I experience is both the reward and punishment I was searching for. If we have ears, do we hear, if we have eyes, do we see? For those with eyes, let them see. For those with ears, let them hear. Best wishes.
According Zen philosophy and some studies about how the brain works a healthy person must be "centered" in emotions. As empathic persons is normal if we share fillings, but be affected in that way can't be healthy because you won't have the capacity to use the right emotion at the right moment. A healthy person isn't always sad neither happy, a healthy person is just in a normal mood the most of the time.
...So a "healthy person" can't appreciate strong emotions, can't react to art? I don't give a shit about Zen philosophy. In Africa we show emotion: we cry when we are sad, we dance when we are happy, sometimes both at the same time, because emotions are not clear cut.
I want people to understand that this song is not about her or merely about being happy. This was written by Nina specifically and metaphorically a song for black people, she began by describing the status of black people in society especially in those times of the 60s and 70 who were fighting and facing harsh realities of stereotypes, abuse and racism. Blacks were viewed as and treated as the people who 'ain't got no [insert numerous stereotypes word]' which she mentioned in the beginning of the song and then she responds with the virtues of what (we the blacks do have) and still have even after all was taken, restricted, raped and denied of us. She highlights that we the black people. We have our freedom! You are no longer slaves, we are free. We have soul, health, joy, stamina and eternal virtues no one can ever take from us (despite the fact they tried to take it all from us, 'we still have') despite the labels placed on us, despite the discrimination, racism and the things we have endured and have had taken from us and deprived of us we indeed and infact actually still have all the things that truely matter. The things which cannot be taken; Our power, our dignity, our joy, our rhythm, our soul, our life (spiritually and physical)...etc
@@billybones2521 You're incorrect. This song was written and composed by Nina Simone and was only officially recorded in 1968 by RCA Records. In those times it was very common for people to sing one another's others songs what we call 'cover' today. However the author of this particular song is infact Nina Simone.

KimiDesu why do people chose to believe that satan does not exist? The bible made it clear that satan and demons are fighting to make people not to believe the bible so that when they die, they would end up in hell. Many muslims said that they saw JESUS physically but that they could not see his face and became christians. If they are lying, why would they lie and put themselves in danger of being killed for leaving islam. Because muhammed the founder of Islam commanded muslims to kill other muslims who leave their religion. many people including muslims became christians after JESUS appeared to them, search for (zaheed former muslim priest dramatic conversion to CHRIST) on youtube or click the link to the youtube video here m.ua-cam.com/video/EhJGUHkFKuU/v-deo.html and see a 7 minutes video of a muslim who said that JESUS appeared to him in his room. after that search for ( JESUS save dini an indonesian muslim part4) on youtube or click the link to the youtube video m.ua-cam.com/video/fGO9KmwQ6WU/v-deo.html while you are watching it skip to the 3:20 minutes of the video and see a muslim woman who said that JESUS appeared to her in her room physically and told her to follow him which means to become a christian. After that, Search for (Former Muslim Fatimah Saw Jesus Eye-to-Eye & Heard His Final Gospel!) on youtube or click the link to the youtube video here m.ua-cam.com/video/rBctdMqClYI/v-deo.html and hear the testimony of a woman who said that JESUS healed her of 3 different incurable diseases and also healed her mother and after that, from the 23:50 minutes in the video, she said that he appeared to her in her kitchen in the form of a bright light and that the background of her kitchen changed to a glorious place as if she was in heaven, after she had prayed to him to show himself to her the way he appeared and showed himself to apostle Paul from the bible. and that she heard a voice from the bright light read to her john1:1 from the bible. Even that was not enough to convince her that JESUS is GOD. Until she prayed and said, no i want to see you physically and few other prayer words she spoke, then in that glorious beautiful bright light, she saw JESUS and many more wonders and miracles to the end of the video.
I feel so connected in every aspect, within the Lyrics, instruments, voice and soul. That is a very rare gift in musicians not all can pull it off. Ms. Simone did it effortlessly.

Legendary singer-songwriter Nina Simone will be honored by the Recording Academy with a Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2017 Special Merit Awards. The singer, who died in 2003, has had a resurgence in pop culture in the last couple years, with three different biopics about her life being released, including the Oscar-nominated, Liz Garbus-helmed “What Happened, Miss Simone.”
Nina Simone tem uma história bem peculiar. Grande cantora, pianista, radical defensora dos direitos dos negros nos anos 60. Saiu em 2015 um ótimo documentário sobre a vida dela, imperdível. Tem no Netflix.
She is ever so elegant and the message behind her song is mind blowing. We often forget to worship the most important thing we have, our life, our bodies, ourselves.

+Juliet Waleya Hardly... You must not comprehend english very well, or you are incompetent, or just another shit stirring racist. Hermetic Kitten hit the nail on the head. You need some help.
+Juliet Waleya From what I understand, that was he intention behind the song. Society's taken away most of the things she and her race had but she wanted to remember that they still had themselves. They had a voice, they had their life. But that message is easily applied and interpreted by people of other races and cultures in much the same way. And that's great, it means her art was transformative, it has a staying power beyond its historical significance.
this is why I've been listening to this song over and over everyday i feel like the world is set up to help us forget the most valuable things and I thank God nina can remind me in such a musically inclined way..
When I was a kid this song was on a yoghurt advert in the UK and I was obsessed with it! Whenever it came on I would get up and dance and my grandma would dance with me 🤣 Years later I found out about Nia Simone and I was hooked all over again when I first realised she sang this song! haha
This is a really great song for someone with depression. It doesn't try to gloss over it or paint over it. It takes you all the way down before it tries to light you up. That's the only way you can even hope to pull someone out of that darkness...you gotta meet them there first.
It's true, it lifts me up tremendously. It's pure and existential optimism and hope. It's NEVER giving in. It's great strength. It's joy. It's PATHOS. It's light.... Its LIFE x love her and the song..

Which it against the bible. Please warn everyone against this and share the videos to others to warn them to stay away from these celebrities and all their songs and to repent of all their other sins which includes sexual immorality, drugs, drinking, partying, smoking, tattoos, cursing, pride, violence, gossip, slander, greed, covetousness, lie, stealing, robbery, fornication, adultery, must not commit incest; which is, unlawful and forbidden sexual relations between siblings, or other close relatives. prejudice, injustice, cheating people, fraud, disobedience to parents, must not disrespect, curse, nor insult one’s parents, nor one’s elders. worldliness, magic, witchcraft, necromancy, idolatry, vanity, not helping others, not giving to the needy, murder which includes abortion and birth control. and believe in Jesus and beg him in prayer to be their lord and savior and forgive their sins, so that they would not enter hell fire after death and be thrown into the lake of fire together with satan and demons to be destroyed and separated from God forever. And then as written in the bible, they will then be given everlasting life in heaven and the new indescribable, beautiful, Heavenly earth after all sinners had been wiped out of the earth, and the earth had been destroyed with fire by God to purge out all the evils and abominations that had been committed on it, then God will transform the earth into paradise where all holy people of God and Jesus will live forever in happiness. The bible went on and said, there shall be no more sorrow, pain, hunger, thirst, sickness, crying, suffering and death only everlasting happiness With God and Jesus for the bible said that God himself will come down to that new earth and fix his thrown on that Heavenly earth to live with all holy people who believed in Jesus forever. The new Heaven and the new earth will be full of indescribable blessings, glory and beauty. Streets of gold, etc. According to the bible, God does not forgive sin unless there is a payment for the sin and the payment is death. For the bible said, the soul that sins shall die. And all the good deeds of a person cannot cover up his one single bad deed. The person will end up in hell fire after death. It is only through Jesus that sins are forgiven because he is the only son of God who came to the earth in human form to pay for our sins his own life, by suffering, being whipped, bled, was nailed to the cross and died on the cross for our sins and was buried. But on the third day after His death, God his father raised him up from the dead and he ascended back go heaven and sat at the right hand side of God his father. So that was how Jesus paid for our sins with his own life because of his love and mercy for mankind and also the love and mercy of his father for mankind. Please don’t mix all these everlasting blessings that God has prepared for the holy christians. Please repent of sinning and come to Jesus now for after death it is too late

Simone was denied from the music school she trained her whole life for (she was a classically trained pianist) because it was a whites only school. But she conquered it to become someone known as the ‘Goddess of Soul’, what a legend, pioneer, genius.✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽 her bio pic on Netflix is inspirational✨
Yes .. she made it after all because a huge part of her country was not racist. It comes down to a minority in the USA and the power they gathered through politics. I am talking about the Democrat Party.
To say that the majority of America was not racist at this time is pretty problematic. There were the KKK, Jim Crow Laws that were close to the South African Apartheid, and media that still perpetuated attitudes of ethnocentrism, the idea that one's culture is better than others. Not to say that every American citizen at this time was racist; but forgetting all these factors is essentially erasing the hard work that artists like Simone had to do to overcome these barriers.

I'm a black cameroonian who lives in paris and was born in 2002 so it's 69 years after she was no doubt 'bout that she is THE QUEEN
All my classic collection from jazz and soul music from the 60 to the 80 are from black entertainers. And it´s just killing me to think they were catching hell from everywhere at the time.
i think id love to hear such a good collection like yours sir
They did catch hell...

Much love from Ireland 💚

Holy shit, never heard this before and its amazing! Damn I need more!
From the legendary play Hair
Nina did it in this 60's.
Hair opened off-Broadway in 1967, opened on Broadway in 1968
the person who rwrote the songs for hair (i dont remember her name) was the best friend of Nina (earded on the movie where are you Nina) thats why she decide to sing her song !

This song makes me feel melancholic because of its lyrics. I was homeless in NYC for about a year. Living on the streets, panhandling and waiting (hoping?) to die soon. Luckily I got a helping hand and got my life back. It was an experience which I don't wish upon anyone.
@Felicia Servio thank you
How has someone provided help to you, Nicholas?
I think you're missing the point of the song ...
Merci Nina.

When you get to a point in life spiritually when you realize all the things you found on earth, including family, do not and never will belong to you... All you have is all that God gave you when You came into this mortal body. Anything else is a tool for one to better their lives as well as the rest of humanity. It is truly heartbreaking when we forget and live as though we will never leave these mortal bodies.💜💜💜
best wishes
As always, mad respect, Ms. Simone.

Hear this for the first Time and it makes me cry. I don´t know if i cry bcause of happiness or because of sadness. But this song touch my soul.
I listened to this after a man who took everything from me left. It is not hyperbolic to say that this song has saved my life
this song makes me cry, happy and sad at the same time
+thelouisfanclub same to me, great song
me too
+thelouisfanclub So, saddly, you are sick...
I LOVE what you wrote!!! I am a white woman, but I am very interested in the subject. Please get in touch with me.
Your post is relevant...but Nina Simone didn't write the song, it's taken from the musical 'Hair'. Her rendition is supreme nonetheless.
@@billybones2521 You're incorrect. This song was written and composed by Nina Simone and was only officially recorded in 1968 by RCA Records. In those times it was very common for people to sing one another's others songs what we call 'cover' today. However the author of this particular song is infact Nina Simone.
Not according to Wikipedia.
I didn't thought of that, and it's a very rich view of this piece of art, thank you for sharing with everyone.God Bless you

Nina Simone is keeping people alive beyond the grave. I needed to hear this. When I have nothing, I still have me.

This is a really great song for someone with depression. It doesn't try to gloss over it or paint over it. It takes you all the way down before it tries to light you up. That's the only way you can even hope to pull someone out of that darkness...you gotta meet them there first.

Please repent of sinning and come to Jesus now for after death it is too late

got my feet got my toes
got my liver got my blood
I've got life, I've got life
I've got headache an toothache
and bad times too like you
I got my hair I got my head
got my brains got my ears
got my eyes got my nose got my mouth
I got my smile
I got my tongue, got my chin
got my neck got my boobies
got my heart got my soul got my back
I got my sex
I got my arms got my hands
got my fingers got my legs
got my feet got my toes
got my liver got my blood
I've got life
I've got my freedom

the first "sex" is self, the second one is correct.
I've never heard anything more powerful or poignant in music before than this. The hope she is able to derive from pain, in the most unadulterated sound shocks me every time I listen to her
Poignant feels like a very appropriate word to partially describe what this song does to a person. It hits home hard.
@@itsamenlI agree
A contender, surely, for *Song of the 20th Century* ??? You are probably *The Greatest* ...
This is an anthem. This song is just so... It means so much to me. When I discovered it I was not going through my best moments, and this woman managed to make me lift my head and look at the future knowing that it doesn't matter what happens, I will never lose my track, cause I got myself, I got my freedom and I ant giving it up. Thank you, really. This song is trmendously necessary for anyone whoso is going through hard times. Thank you Nina for coming into this world. Thank you for providing us with this. Thank you
Yes, she truly is an inspiration to us all! I love your comment because I love seeing how much she has inspired other people besides me.
love this , ditto.
this gave me hope...I need to love myself more and stay true to myself no matter what.:)
I ain’t got nothing bad to say bout this lady and her music. Ain’t got nothing to do with me! Love u Woo., N.L.Lee’❤
Can't listen to this without breaking down in tears.
This song literally contains a spirit to live, and its hope gives me freedom. Thank you, Nina
❤ I agree
Having nothing is terrible but it's also a very reconforting feeling of meaningless and freedom
I was depressing at the beginning. but she acknowledged that she has Life. and that's the best blessing from God.
Isn't that "The High Priestess of Soul"? 9/2018
alicd100 davis ended up at julliard right?
Yes .. she made it after all because a huge part of her country was not racist. It comes down to a minority in the USA and the power they gathered through politics. I am talking about the Democrat Party.
yea!
I LOVE YOU NINA THE PIANIST! I know you didn't want to be known as a singer but admit it, for a number talent girl you were fire! I wish I could've seen you perform MS. Concert PIANIST! ❤😢👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🖤🫶🏾🫶🏾🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🖤🌹🌹🖤👑👑👑
How is it that I had never heard of this great woman? She's absolutely incredible.
This has got to be one of the best arranged, profound, and uplifting songs.
Her arrangements were otherworldly.
Indeed
Such a beautiful, soulful song.
RIP Nina

This is my favourite version of this song I’ve heard. I’ve got a cd of her greatest hits at home and this song is included but it’s faster paced and shorter (just over 2 minutes I think) and I think this song is meant to be played slower like in this video. Don’t get me wrong it’s still good but I just prefer this version.
@@milesjolly6173 spot on, I've come here having heard that version and wanted to hear this one, glad its not just me!

Sad that she died 8 months before I was born...
wish she was alive
Große Klasse! - immer wieder gut zu hören; großartige Stimme!
Мое почтение. Обожаю. Хоть и старый.
"Ain't got no money, ain't got no class".
This woman is in the top 1% when it comes to class.
Yeah. That time society didn't see that tho..
