I smelled Youth Dew for the first time recently, and I was shocked at how good it smelled. I bought a bottle on the spot, and I'm neither old nor a lady. It's stunning stuff, dark and woody and spicy with so many layers.
My Mother's signature fragrance was White Linen. After her untimely death in 1992, I would stop by her home, where my Father still lived. I would go to her dresser drawers to smell her. She smelled like White Linen.
I hope you have a bottle of White Linen so you can have a sensory keepsake of your Mother. I've read that our sense smell gives us the strongest recall to a memory....whether it's a person place or point of time. Thank you for sharing your precious remembrance.
Thank you, first of all, for calling these beautiful scents classics instead of old lady perfumes like some of the younger generation that doesn't understand perfume history say. Next, yes! Youth Dew was my mom's signature perfume for years, she was beautiful, classy, strong, and English so she wore it well! I can still remember that mix with cigarette smoke and I loved it, bad habits but good memories. Her and her friends were the classiest things walking back then, Thank you for the video!
Cinnabar is my winter fragrance and I always receive compliments from men. It is a bit heavy, but warm and spicy, perfect for winter months and Christmas. It feels like a warm hug and a hot fire.
Youth Dew was my mom’s signature scent in the 80s, she used to have those gorgeous compacts with the solid perfume in them also. To this day I love the scent and associate it with her. She has since graduated to Chanel No. 5 & Coco Noir; but youth dew is an amazing fragrance and one of the few that has real lasting power and projection what I think perfumes used to be! ❤️
My mother adores White Linen. She recently told me how much it means to her. Not something I'd wear myself but will always be special because of its association with her.
I love Cinnabar since it reminds me of the scents that my mom and other women wore back in the 80s when I was a kid. I’m so happy they brought it back so I can enjoy it now as an adult 😀
Nice video, as per usual! But .... Sophie ....! What happened to Beautiful?!! That's one of their most classic ones. Of course it's not from the 60s or 70s... but from '85. One the ultimate florals, and my all time favorite.
Got many compliments & Ppl wonderin what my Secret signature fragrance was !! wore Spellbound all of the 90s & into 2000s until they changed the formulation & the bottle ! ALWAYS bought biggest bottle, ALWAYS had a backup, so when I went to get another, it was no longer..sp sad..I still have original bottle with a tad in the bottom.. KEEP it around for memories !!
They butchered Estee when they changed the bottle. The original was sumptuous and I received SO many compliments. Reading reviews on their web site for these square bottle versions have so many patrons frustrated. This was a good video!
Great fragrances but the Sophia Grojsman Spellbound stands out for me and is glorious! I’m a sucker for old school fragrances. Even if not the most ‘wearable’ today, still really enjoyable to wear, the reformulations are still pretty darn good.
I love estee lauder fragrances my favourites are youth dew and beautiful and knowing I wear them daily I love them there My favourites thank you for sharing x
My grandma wore Youth Dew. I still have her 1960s solid perfume that still smells so strong of it. It has a turquoise gem on the top of it. I think they said the locket was inspired by Egypt. I keep it on my vanity next to my other perfumes :)
I have always loved Estee Lauder perfumes but I can't stand White Linen. I remember being a kid at the mall and walking up to the Estee counter to try it. It was so strong I lost my breath. The name was so misleading but the commercials were great. I do miss the staying power of 80s perfumes. Thanks for these videos. I really like Beautiful Belle right now. I have the perfume and lotion and love it. I love Prada candy and it gives me a similar feel. I am obsessed with "Florientials" . Is there any way possible you can do a video on that particular type of fragrance ? Thanks
I looovw youth dew. It IS old school but to me it smells powdery after a bit of time and I find it very elegant. I also like pleasures...too bad it smells like urine on me. Really weird! White linen is pure elegance as well
I loved Pleasures, Knowing and Beautiful. With white linen we had problems because my dad bought it and it didnt suit anybody except one of my aunts 😮.Aliage, never heard! Azurre as well nor Paradise , nor Cinnabar..????
Thanks for this. I am re-visiting EL scents. Beautiful, my wedding scent, as well as White Linen and Cinnabar (a decade earlier) have all been re-formulated, as I'm sure won't surprise you. They are not the same now. Cinnabar smells like Old Spice to me now, lol.
I own vintage Private Collection in mini bottle, i adore the scent. I stole it from my mom when i was 14 😅 but i also love White Linen and Pleasure. Pretty scents.
I love the original Private Collection! Hands down THE most gorgeous of all Lauder perfumes. It is exquisite and can easily became a signature scent. The tagline reads," All it takes is one precious drop and you'll know why Estee Lauder kept Private Collection all to herself. "
With Ester Lauded you really got shebang for your buck.I used to wear Pleasures please do a video on it all it's many flankers.I am thinking of getting Beautiful as it's on sale.
I grew up wearing original cinnabar when I was a teenager. Im wanting to re visit this but scared that I won't like the new version. Any thoughts anybody?
Same😊 I still have a bit left in my OG bottle with the red cap. Purchased the new reformulation and side by side comparison, original is deep & more complex in the opening but both dry down quite similar. New version sillage & projection is just as beast as the original. I’m very much enjoying the new version of this ‘70’s classic.
@@michelled8382 ah thanks Michelle. That's interesting. I've 'inherited an unused full vintage bottle thats still smells fresh as a daisy. But ill bear your advise for future when mine runs out. 🥰
Your knowledge on perfumes is amazing! Recently into fragrances and i have bought my perfumes based on your recommendations! Would also love to see a list of affordable perfumes which havw great performances too please xx
Omg when i was in elementary school my mom bought me an estee lauder perfume, the Pleasure one. I used to looove that perfume. I used to feel so cool when i wore that to school and my friends asked me what perfume i wore hahaa. I think i'm going to buy it again soon if i can find it online
Since age 7, my first ever memory of a perfume is my mom wearing Estee ❤ I still love it but I don't wear it coz I feel it's my mom's scent.... Pleasures was my signature scent in my 20s (I'm 47 now) and then i discovered Spellbound and fell in love with it 😅 luckily I even got a job with Estee Lauder, so I experienced all their fragrances (including their colab with Tom Ford) some of the others that are still my favorites like Private Collection and Beyond Paradise ❤
I was really upset when Estée Lauder stopped carrying their ‘classic’ scents in the regular 3.4oz size bottles and now they only make their classic perfume fragrances in 1.4oz size bottles. I can’t think of any reason why did this other than just a way to make more money. It doesn’t makes sense they even changed the formulas
Given how many classics get discontinued, I think it's great that Lauder still keeps theirs going. The uniform bottles means Lauder can save costs and continue to make scents that clearly don't sell like they used to. I don't give a fig what the bottles look like.
I loved estee. I think if it's available now it would be loved by many. It's not a grandma perfume. It's fresh and pretty. It's a sparkling scent. I hope they would bring it back.
I bought for my wife Alliage perfume from Estee Lauder, but it wasn't the same like in 1978, now Its not good to much sweet and we get both head ache. The old Alliage was the best 👌🏽 My wife can't use it because Its really disgusting sweet smell 🤷🏻♀️ We decided to give it to our sister-in-law. If she don't like this smell she can give it to another woman or put it in trash 😞
My lovely Goldy always finds her way to the Estée Lauder counter so I can buy a bottle of Knowing, I’m having trouble finding the lotion is it discontinued?
Unfortunately, modern Pleasures have nothing to do with the original, except a very light similarity in the first notes (( Original Pleasures were a real pleasure!

Yes a bit. Chanel no5
I adore aldehydes. Very prevalent in the 60s-80s I think. Makes the fragrance sing imo.
Could you please do Chanel Chance Eau Tendre EDT vs EDP
I was going to do this but basically I found them the same just Edp stronger !
