Plastic, isn't there a war on plastic with millions doesn't on advertising, and trying to buy fruit without plastic is laughable while charging you for a plastic bag if you forget your shopping bags
I agree. Micro plastics in everything that shouldn't have plastic, glass recyclers having no market, perfumers take the hint! Trust me the recycle symbol on your glass will be a selling point.
I personally think they should all go the Thierry Mugler route and make refillable glass bottles. To put fragrance in plastic bottles seems ridiculous to me, as does discarding a beautiful glass perfume bottle that’s empty. I think there’s a refillable edition of La Vie Est Belle available now, so that’s good.
I really love when you make these videos about the perfumes you don't like, because most of the reasons you give aren't just based on your personal taste and more on the lasting power and overpriced nature of the perfumes
Love your honesty and how you express the frustration of some of us, meaning pay hell of money for a fragrance but then end up with either poor performance or a reformulated version that no longer is what it used to be and you were used to and loved. Great job Soki on this video
I think the people at Chanel are very aware No5 isn’t their bestseller anymore. But No5 is a legend and is still the most famous perfume in the world. It is just synonymous with Chanel as a brand. Therefore still advertising No5 makes good sense as it is actually advertising everything Chanel makes and has to offer as a brand. A No5 ad helps to sell lipsticks, skincare, bags, fashion and yes… even other Chanel fragrances that are better sellers than No5 like Coco Mademoiselle or Chance Eau Tendre. It is more about brand awareness.
The current formulation of D&G's Light Blue is just a shell of itself compared to the original formula back in '04-'05. I uses to have the original back in the days and it would last all day and through the night. It also had such a nice, fresh woody drydown to it that the current one is lacking. If you want something similar to that woody drydown, a good alternative to try is Elizabeth Arden's White Tea. Absolutely LOVE it.
In my opinion...step away from the Marc Jacobs fragrances. I know the bottles are cute but no. The overall brand has had it's lackluster day and the fragrances are nothing special and they don't last.
The packaging of Paco Rabanne is indeed a little weird, which I'm not a fan of, but I can explain why they chose such a weird design: The design is supposed to be futuristic. Paco Rabanne started his label during the 1960s/1970s, and at that time, he was considered to have a futuristic aesthetic due to his use of unconventional materials: this includes paper, metal, wood, etc. He was so heavily associated with the futuristic aesthetic that he, to this day, is falsely credited in designing outfits for certain scifi movies! 😅 Personally, I think the bottle appeals to a younger demographic
You are 100% correct and there are so many other perfumes that I don’t think people should pay no attention to I’m 56 years old. I’m a Gen X and I remember when I first started perfumes I started out with your poison and moved on to others very quickly back in the day. Our perfumes used to last 6 to 8 hours, if I was to go and spend my money on a designer perfume, I don’t smell it no more than 30 minutes on me so I am not going to spend my money anymore on any designer perfumes. I’d rather get some thing little bit cheaper I think the perfume industry is a complete rip off, but that’s just my opinion.
I totally agree with you. The worst thing when you buy a new, hugely propoted perfume, is, when it doesn´t last or project and it is so good, if someone like you dare to say it out loud. They should learn, that people are not stupid and they wont buy bad stuff, even when promotion is huge. Also I hate the constant change of formulations - you are going to buy a perfume, that you remember to be good, and you get watered-down version, this is fraudulence..
Went to Ulta to look for new fragrance this Christmas. Saw Chanel No.5 and decided to give it a try. So glad I did because apparently you have to wait for the dry down to appreciate it. I initially thought that the scent is too mature for me but when I got home, the paper with Chanel No.5 smells absolutely beautiful. I was surprised how delicate and powdery it is. Couldn't stop thinking about it so I ordered the perfume from their website.
I absolutely adore Chanel n5. Yes, that initial spray can be a bit much, but the dry down is magic. I’ll pick n5 over any of the la vie Est belle Lancôme ones or even Chanel Gabrielle. Fragrance is subjective, so the good thing about these types of videos is getting an idea of what lasts or can be comparable to a more affordable option, etc. When it comes down to scent, you really should only trust your own nose.
In Portugal we use to have summer temperature around 40°C and plus and honestly the only fragrance i can use is light blue the original and it last all day long. I feel the extreme heat really makes light blue a beautiful fragrance, less than 40°C is a completely different fragrance , very sharp and very weak lasting power.
Am I the only one who actually likes channel no 5? I mean, when people criticize it, they always says “uh it’s old/it smells old”. Old isn’t necessarily a bad thing is it?
I am 62 been wearing Chanel no 5 since I could afford my 1st bottle @ age 23, My 1st grade teacher always wore it, & I absolutley loved the powdery scent on her, so she was old back then/I was young, I hate when people say "smells old", anyway, I haven't worn it in a while, but but recenty purchased it with the lotion, the price has gone up a lot, it just doesn't last on me & I know they changed the formula, I even put it on, coming right out of the shower, when my skin is moist, I won't be repurchasing it, but definately love Cocoa Mademoiselle & Chanel Allure!!!!
I tested the Billie Eilish and was shocked that it smells so .... cheap. Like legit it smells like those £2 SO body sprays. I definitely agree with the list and there could be plenty more on it too. I feel as a whole perfumes are getting more expensive but poorer in quality.
This is why I won't by celebrity fragrances. To my nose, they all smell cheap. I think the majority are nothing but cash grabs for their young fans, in the similar vein that so many celebrities have skincare lines, but these celebrities don't actually use their cheap skincare lines. They buy expensive stuff and have cosmetic surgery and other procedures and then lie and say it was "olive oil" that makes them look so young. Puhleaze!.
The Eilish perfume bottle is absolutely spectacular but the perfume itself smells like a bath and bodyworks spray. It is simply not worth the price. I’ve made it work by layering with fruity perfumes but really, I expected much more for the price and aesthetic.
@@kp4911😆😆😆I know - JLo who is around my age had zero work - her face would be saggy at least - I don’t have many wrinkles but losing fat in the cheeks, hooded eyelids, and corners of the mouth sagging SUCKS. I feel like one day she will have gone over the edge and it will be apparent - eyes are the dead giveaway - Rene Zellweger - had gorgeous hooded eyes naturally (mine never were before) that made her look unique - when her eyelids changed she looked like a different person. Famke Jensen is another one - one day she looks like herself and the next she looks like a cartoon.
Loved this video, how expressive and opinionated you were, need more videos like this in the future! I always rely on your reviews when purchasing fragrances ❤️
I coincide in everything except the Chanel number 5 thing! It's a perfume I love, I love wearing it with casual outfits for a bit of contrast, or to the cinema, it smells sort of soapy but formal and uptight in a ladylike way, so elegant. I also love eau premiere and No5 L'eau... what they've done to the Miss Dior range is outrageous, it angers me...I still like the "Blooming" ones like you do. Just bought a sample of your perfume! Can't wait!
For all of you who say that a fragrance doesn’t last long, wear it on different seasons. They tend to change on your body even because of the climate .
I actually thought this vid would be triggering, but your reasoning for everything makes total sense, and I wish I had someone permanently with me that would give me the honest draw backs, especially with the designer perfumes
I can't agree more that perfumes are increasing in price while decreasing in quality. I recently did a mini-haul of six perfumes and only one had *any* staying power--the others disappeared within half an hour even with extreme over-spraying--so I really appreciate honest "negative" reviews like these. It's so upsetting because I remember drugstore perfumes that I bought back in the 80s as a teen that had more staying power. Seriously, Aviance Night Musk would stay in my clothes even after multiple washing!
Great video, but Chanel No 5 is epic. I’m old enough to have had a few formulations, and I miss the old ones, but it will always be one of my favorites.
Light Blue last longer on me, like 5-6 hrs. I live in a warm & humid weather. Maybe the heat helps the longevity. I agree. Plastic bottle is for body spray, NOT for EDT or EDP
The change of light blue is so sad. I do have this in my collection since 2008 and back in the day, even after a good shower you still would smell the light blue on your skin.
I agree completely. The big perfume brands are becoming shamelessly cynical. The prices are going up and, simultaneously, the quality is going down - all the time. It affects the base ingredients which are the most expensive ones, and the result is no longevity.
Re Chanel No5: not everyone who buys perfume is under 30 & not everyone has the same taste. I adore No5 & know many who wear it & it lasts 8+ hrs. Some day Jimmy Choo will be a granny perfume.
I loved Chanel 5 from first sniff and I was under 30, not so long ago. I did and do receive many compliments, and I have sniffed the vintage composition. It’s exquisite. I don’t own it though. Coco Mademoiselle on the other hand, smells lovely on others, not so nice on me.
I don’t like CHANEL No. 5, but I love the Eau Premiere and L’Eau. I can’t get enough of them. I get tons of compliments, especially on the Eau Premiere, which lasts much better on me. Also, I’ve never encountered anybody else who wears the Eau Premiere - so I feel like it’s unique to me. I’d like to try Gabrielle also - I keep asking for samples, but they never have them. Unfortunately, Coco Mademoiselle is basically a headache in a bottle for me. It is a very nice fragrance, but I know about 20 people who wear it every day. I really like to have something different from everybody else. I bought La Vie Est Belle when it first came out, but I stopped wearing it after it got really popular, although I do still think it’s a nice fragrance.
Lack of lasting power and odd bottles have saved me from a number of purchases. On Chanel’s advertising for No. 5, I wonder if it’s geared more towards maintaining brand loyalty rather than attracting new buyers. I once heard financial companies have that strategy. The ads are designed to confirm in peoples’ minds that they made a good investment rather than to attract someone new. And you have reminded me to pull out my bottle of Joy. I like it for work when it’s cold but wouldn’t rebuy.
As a gen Z I was realy afraid of trying Channel No5 ,but I end up being in love with it. It's more feminine and frutty that I expected ,but it's definately not a grab&go scent! I found quite a few people that truly liked it.And mostly people that are into fragrancises and appreceate more "nice" and vintage" scents! So I definately agree with you. There is no point of advertising it everywere as a "must have" scent! the problem isn't that not enought peopel know about it, but that a small part of the audience can still wear and embrace it!
I LOVE Empress!!! My family says it’s beautiful and so me!!! My husband for first time in a long time noticed I was wearing perfume and could tell the different notes! Well done ❤️
I have to respectfully disagree with many of these 😊. Some of my favorite purchases this year (out of dozens and dozens) were the new Miss Dior and Gorgeous Gardenia. I've been reaching for them time and time again! I just got Fame, but really love the scent too, I think it will be a another that I reach for a lot. I don't get the comparison to Viva La Juicy and Gorgeous Gardenia, maybe it's because VLJ is my all time favorite scent, but it is a gourmand scent to me and I don't get that with GG at all. We all smell things differently, so I just wanted to weigh in with a slightly different opinion.
VLJ was one of the scents I used as a teenager. The lasting power is shocking for the price they charge. I think much of the criticism here is related to lasting power rather than actual scent, and also the changing of a scent whilst marketing it as the same fragrance. If they're going to change something up so much, it should just be a different scent. The quality is going down so much in many scents, she's absolutely correct there. Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gautier and Chanel are some of the few left who still have scents that blow your head off and LAST all day and night. I can still smell these on myself after a shower, which is what I would expect from any scent I've paid more than £70 for.
I love the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet - even the 2023 one, it has lesser staying power but the scent is unique acc to me and I love it far too much to care about performance. Also if you spray on clothes, it lasts longer and also if you use it after bathing. I also loved the Gucci gardenia new one- want to get that one. Thanks for sharing that the dupe she suggested may not be similar
It seem like all designers think we are a cash cow. Not only with boring flankers every 5 minutes but suddenly all classics being reformulated to mute and not lasting versions of what they used to be
I’m not necessarily a Billie Eilish fan but I love that perfume! It smells like delicious vanilla and chocolate to me and I always get compliments. I agree the package is not my favorite though
Love that you’re brutally honest about this topic! Also, I know they’re discontinued but, I would love your review on Avril Lavigne’s perfumes. I guess it’s because I love her but I really think they’re nice and underrated. Specially Black Star and Forbidden Rose
I always appreciate reviews on which perfumes do not last or project. I do not wnat to spend money on ones which fade in a.couple hours. Way too expensive for tgat to happen. So any feedback on longevity or projection is SO HELPFUL!!!!!!
I haven't smelt the new Paco rabanne perfume but Elle fanning who advertises it is pretty famous. She's not a model, she's an awarded actress and plays Catherine the great to much acclaim. As for the bottle I think it's meant to recreate the famous metallic dress of Paco rabanne.
This might be my first ever comment on your channel - really liked this and I don't see it as negative at all. I much prefer fragrance reviewers who are able to give their honest opinions, and obviously not everyone is going to like everything (far from it!), as well as critically assess the fragrance's strengths and weaknesses in a somewhat objective way (bottle, value, whether it fits with the brand, how it fits in with other existing perfumes on the market and within the range etc). This is far more interesting to me (and relatable) than reviewers who "like" everything, as the experience of a perfume lover testing scents day in day out is definitely not liking everything, so bringing more critical nuance to reviews is always welcome.
I thought it was just me...I've found a few different perfumes that used to be good and now are overly light this year. Things that used to be strongly projecting and long lasting are just not lasting now. Hmm. But YES, especially Dior, Gucci, Chanel No. 5 (don't get it at all) Well done you, for being willing to say that the Emperor has no clothes.
lol My mom uses the D&G light blue quite liberally as an after shower body spray and when you use as much as she does it definitely lasts 😂 it's basically just her smell to me now lol
Thanks for this video, I value your opinion. I’m not a fan of any Ariana Grande perfume, sadly. I do love Dior J’adore infinissime, and it has good longevity on me. No one seems to talk about it. And I am a Chanel fan, including No. 5! As well as other Chanel perfume which are more “ modern” such as no. 5 l’Eau, Gabrielle Essence, and Coco Mademoiselle.
No matter what, Chanel No 5 is a must have, I buy it each time I finish it. Of course is not the one Marilyn wore, but it doesn't matter, it still carries the DNA and is the best perfume ever.
I love that this video was made. I love gourmand scents and I was going to purchase a couple of these scents and have purchased 2-3 others that immediately got returned from this list. I've been watching you since my perfume obsession started 4 years ago and I love your honesty and thorough reviews while also being a pleasant and joyful person. Life long subscriber here!!!
I really love vanilla and sweet perfumes, but I was so underwhelmed by Billies perfume. I sprayed it and was shocked at how bad I found it. I do like the bottles tho.
Hello, I just want to let you know I just got your perfume, and my firs impresión on these is a very positive one, although I don't like patchouly too much, this one it's a very soft one. The opening has a little bit of strawberry, and I can smell the popcorn right away, unfortunately, the popcorn doesn't stay all the way through. I really like the note in this, but it show up in the dry down. I can actually smell a little bit of popcorn, I noticed the strawberry and I do not notice the flowers at all, but I can smell just if I really look for it, I can smell the popcorn again, overall it's a really good perfume. What I really want to say is very impressive. I know you're doing this all on your own. It's your own brand and this is a very bold move from you. Are you tubers are actually launching the perfumes with the help of a different brands of which ones are popular brands and they doing well too because they recognize on the UA-cam channels but honestly, I have to say that you are doing everything on your own and I am very impressed by it and I really wish you the best I will support any time you lunch another one and I hope everybody gets to try your perfume really with good quality and did an impressive sent. Congratulations !!
Thank you for being honest!! Many of the points you mention is why I am not a fan of designer fragrances. For the price of three designers, you can but one glorious niche or exclusive line fragrance. Maybe that’s why the companies are reformulating to crumby, adolescent versions. Those of us serious about fragrance are pushed to the more expensive choices…..
Me too! Just when I got to a point in life that I might indulge in a fine perfume purchase, I find I don't love any of the popular designer releases I thought I would. I end up blind buying niche based on reviews and its a gamble. Gradually selling ones that aren't for me on Mercari. I want to try something special from Guerlain's website.
@@pamjohnson122 I recommend buying niche samples from mercari or eBay. And as far as Guerlain goes, try out Cuir Beluga (my favorite) or others in the Art and Material collection. The website is an amazement! Yes, the bottles are completely overpriced but your get to make some color and lid choices, plus have your name engraved. So very, very special….
i know so many ppl love carolina herrera good girl but i refuse to buy it with such a tacky plastic bottle that imo is awkward to hold and spray. slap it in a classy glass bottle and I would give it a chance for sure
To me, the Paco Rabanne Fame bottle looks like a person wearing a sequin dress and sunglasses, invoking the idea of an actress or model getting out of a club and wearing dark glasses to avoid the flashing of the paparazzi's cameras. With this said, even though I get the concept (or so I think) I still don't like the bottle either...
Miss Dior 2021 lasts on me 10 hours.. and projects very well.... I agree with Dior Joy EDP and Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia.. they cannot last.. I like these fragrances but does not make sense to repurchase them.
The thing about Gucci gorgeous jasmine is that it quickly makes one ‘nose blind’. You can’t smell it on yourself but people around you can. I say this from experience It has a good sillage and stays around 4-6 hours… but you can certainly not smell it on yourself !!!
Also the haters were really early today in spite of being Monday... good for them on reserving all of their dreadful- beginning-of-the-week energy for Soki 😂 only true divas can commend that type of attention!
I love Chanel Allure edt, but very expensive but to me Lancome Intense reminds me so much of it, so I have this, I think the best value to me will always be Lancome, I love ❤ their fragrances
I have noticed Dior Absolutely Blooming is harder to find now than before. it is also my favorite from the Miss Dior range. the 1.7 oz is much more available than the 3.4.
@@ohuprettylittlethings I have purchased a few bottles few months ago when I heard they would but never thought it would happen too soon then I have noticed just last month that the 100ml is no longer available on their website so I started to look elsewhere but then most stores only now have the 1.7. It is the only perfume I love from the range. How sad.
What about Cloud 2.0? My favorite holy grail for the winter is AE Vintage - it’s discontinued but soooo good - if doesn’t smell citrusy to me at all, despite having orange in the top notes, it’s cozy and alluring and doesn’t give me a headache despite being on the heavier side.
I have smelled most of them and I totally agree.I also find flora Gucci edp as one of the best perfume ever,Karlie Kloss said that she was wearing it.Its so sad ,that they discontinued it.
I love the Fame bottle because it's so outstanding, unique an fun. It always makes me smile when I see it but the perfume smells like mango juice. That would be fine with me but at that pricepoint I would rather expect something more sophisticated and not a scent you can buy for 20€ from other brands -or at a café. It doesn't go together with the bottle either.
Hi, Soki. I can explain the "female robot" bottles for Paco Rabanne line: so the late Paco (rest in peace) was kind of the first -- or at least earliest -- to experiment with unusual materials for clothing: this included paper, metal, wood, etc. He started his brand during the 60s - 70s ish (1966) and was considered to have a "futuristic aesthetic", so much so he is actually falsely credited for designing outfits for scifi movies! 😅 personally, like you, I am *NOT* a fan of that bottle design; I can appreciate the reference to the house codes, but it's a really weird bottle that would most likely appeal to a younger audience
I so enjoy your videos and the way you talk about perfumes, always gentle and cute even when your view is 'negative'. The other reason why I like your videos is that my taste is different to yours and it's interesting to hear different opinions and open up to new possibilities. Thank you. :)
I have Gucci gorgeous gardenia it lasts so long and I love it so much, but I can't say it's the same as viva la juicy. Perhaps sth similar but not the same. The new jasmine is fine but nothing wow x
Nice video Soki! I share your view on Maison Dior. With this said, I am excited about Francis K being the new head of perfume dept in Maison Dior, can not wait to see what is coming up next year!
I agree with you in the whole perfume collection you advised us to keep away from but on Chanel N°5 I disagree I find it vintage classy clean perfum Thank you for the recommendations 😊
Billie Eilish perfume was a surprise for me in that I am not the biggest fan of celebrity perfumes, I didn't like the presentation and I found it extremely pricy for a celebrity scent. I bought it for my younger daughter who is a teenager and I dare say I love it. I love that vanilla in it and its lasting power is amazing. Again super expensive for what it is.
I do have the 2021 mis Dior & Joy, they both last on me, and i enjoy the fragrance, i think its true they have poor projection but they both last 7 hrs on me, perhaps its cause i live in a desert dry climate. I agree on the other ones i dont like the bottles, and a lot of times i buy perfumes for the cute bottles, of course i have to like the fragrance to keep it, but definitely bottles have a lot to do when buying a perfume.
Gorgeous Jasmine, Light Blue and Joy last *all day* on me. Gorgeous Jasmine is probably the best fragrance I ever owned. Maybe I am blessed with a good nose because all 100+ fragrances I own last all day on me...
Great, loved your sincere opinion on this. Wonder if you might want to review the range of Dolce and Gabbana perfumes, the ones with the flower cap bottles. Wonder what your honest opinion might be. And so agree on all of these, especially on number 5. That appeal on that one has always evaded me.
100% agree! I couldn't believe it when I smelled Gorgeous Gardenia and it was just a VLJ dupe! The price is so outrageous. And yes, also, about Light Blue, I find the original to be so boring. Intense and many of the flankers are sooooo much better. Also agree about the Billie Eilish and Fame bottles, both are a huge nope for me.
Soki, thanks for your honesty. These companies need to be called out sometimes, as they are making jillions thanks to us falling for their marketing ploys. Dior Joy is also quite terrible, smells like bathroom cleaner. I agree No 5 edt and edp are an acquired taste. They have to be placed on shoulders where we have fewer sweat glands, and the perfume remains true to its essence, and does not get distorted by perspiration. When I do that, No5 edt and edp simply sing with beautiful multi-layerd accords. In defense though. No% Eau Premiere is modern and fresh, and very likeable for those who just never made friends with the two older versions. It was my gateway drug to the Chanel perfumes. I think No 5 L'Eau is quite milktoast, musky, granted a very nice refined musk, and with very subtle floral notes. For my nose Coco Mademoiselle has a most objectionable bready/yeasty note in the drydown, which I just can't stand. As opposed to Eau Premiere which leaves the most gorgeous iris/jasmine/rose blend in the drydown, it's heaven. Love your videos.
d&g light blue has been my "signature scent" for over 10 years.... even at work i have people tell me they knew i was in because they smelled me in the break room, or bathroom... sometimes that i hadn't been in in hours.... i also can pick up my clothes from a week ago from a dirty hamper and still smell it so i also don't understand how people say it disappears. i'm considering myself lucky since i think that it is one of the best smells in the world!
Have to sort of agree on the Dolce and Gabanna Lt Blue. Top notes disappear very quickly. But. It DOES have basenotes....unfortunately. I was working as a part time manager at a clothing store in the southern United States. Into the store comes this older woman (50's -70's) . I'm behind the cash wrap till area in the back of the store . Customer is at the entrance 60 feet away and I can smell the WALL of her fragrance. She approached the counter and by the time she was actually across from me my eyes were starting to water.( Mind you - I have and wear many various STRONG perfumes- YSL Opium, Dior Poisons, etc. but I do not Bathe in them!) . When I tended her return, I chokingly asked what her fragrance was : Lt Blue. She claimed to go through a bottle of it per week - could not get enough of the top notes and kept refreshing it. The basenotes to Lt Blue are cedar wood and with her application amount she was hitting people with railroad trusses worth of cedar ( and not good sweet cedar either) cheap pencil cedar. Ruined that for me certainly.
Hi, I'm a new follower from Costa Rica! Love your reviews. They straight to the point with valid arguments. In my country perfume is really expensive and as a perfume lover I have to be informed before ordering.
Hi Lovely lady, Love your review, couldn't agree w/you more about Chanel No 5, I have been wearing that scent for 39 yrs when I could afford my 1st bottle @ age 23, the scent has changed over the years, loved the scent, the price has gone up a lot, I won't be repurchasing it, for it does not last on me at all, I even apply the lotion 1st, I do love other Chanel perfumes like cocoa changel mademoiselle & allure, love love them, I also tried a sample of Billie Eilish, won't be getting big bottle either, scent is ok/does not last long at all.
Chanel no 5 is my favorite. The edp never had civet . The edp is from the 1980s . It's a complete different fragrance from the edt. I will always have no 5 in my collection. Both edt and edp.
Brands making weaker and weaker perfumes is such a scam. It's getting worse and worse
And what is up with perfumes coming in PLASTIC bottles? To me, that is not what a true perfume should be in. Save the plastic for body sprays.
Plastic, isn't there a war on plastic with millions doesn't on advertising, and trying to buy fruit without plastic is laughable while charging you for a plastic bag if you forget your shopping bags
Same here. A lovely glass bottle is all a part of the appeal...
Totally agree!
I really love when you make these videos about the perfumes you don't like, because most of the reasons you give aren't just based on your personal taste and more on the lasting power and overpriced nature of the perfumes
I appreciate that!
@@SokiLondon I was about to say the same thing. I love Light Blue forever and the intense version you are right the edt is poor on longevity.
Love your honesty and how you express the frustration of some of us, meaning pay hell of money for a fragrance but then end up with either poor performance or a reformulated version that no longer is what it used to be and you were used to and loved. Great job Soki on this video
Aw thank you 🙏
Completely agree about Dior. They’re so annoying with all the reformulations and some of them don’t last at all while still costing big bucks
I have many Elizabeth Arden fragrances. Not many talk about them. They are well made and smell amazing.... to me anyway lol
Do the EA fragrances last?
@@user-jk4jj4nm1q The White Tea does...much more than Light Blue.
I have legitimately been thinking about picking up White Tea!

I say go for it!
I would add all the Jo Malone perfumes I’ve ever tried. And Marc Jacobs. Like water. 💦
In my opinion...step away from the Marc Jacobs fragrances. I know the bottles are cute but no. The overall brand has had it's lackluster day and the fragrances are nothing special and they don't last.
Discontinued decadence 😿
I have divine decadence ❤️
I agree lol they are so boring and terrible quality 😬
I never really thought about this but I’ve definitely bought them for the bottles and not really loved the fragrances 😬
I like Dot and Daisy Love but I agree the fragrances doesn't match the bottles. Style over substance
Have to agree
I get you with the packaging of Paco Rabanne, but I also feel Carolina Herrera and all the Good Girls / 212 heroes packaging is very tacky.
The packaging of Paco Rabanne is indeed a little weird, which I'm not a fan of, but I can explain why they chose such a weird design:
The design is supposed to be futuristic. 😅
Personally, I think the bottle appeals to a younger demographic
Negative videos like this are also necessary! 🙌
Chanel No 5 L’eau is a gorgeous version! I like it for spring and summer. So pretty!
@@Sufferingsassafrass Omg yes!!!! I'm thinking of getting that one as well 🤍
I agree! You have to try it on the skin and wait...The dry down is absolutely beautiful. 😍
@@elisabeth400 It is. And the pure perfume it’s exquisite, worth sniffing it
In Portugal we use to have summer temperature around 40°C and plus and honestly the only fragrance i can use is light blue the original and it last all day long. I feel the extreme heat really makes light blue a beautiful fragrance, less than 40°C is a completely different fragrance , very sharp and very weak lasting power.
I agree with this! Versace "Bright Crystal" (which Soki often recommends) is the same
I’m from Mumbai, India and it is always hot and humid. The only fragrance that works for me is issey miyake l’eau D’issey
Is dylan turquoise nice?
Am I the only one who actually likes channel no 5? I mean, when people criticize it, they always says “uh it’s old/it smells old”. Old isn’t necessarily a bad thing is it?
Buy what you like how cares what people said plus each person ph makes the perfume smells different
I love chanel #5 I first got to smell and wear it at 24. Now I'm 47 and it's my absolute favorite.
Good to know💖
the bottle is beheaded cleavage, not very feminist of her
This is why I won't by celebrity fragrances.
I think they should still sell Chanel 5 It's like selling history ☺️
I like Chanel 5! 😊
Totally agree. Here in Belgium it sells very well, I love it , not old smelling at all.
Totally agree, I'm mid 50's lucky to find the vintage formulas. My Coco is from mid 80's, absolutely stunning. Also have vintage No 5.
Buzzing that you think I’m under 30 hehe 😃
@@SokiLondon you're beautiful & look mid 20's to me
I loved Chanel 5 from first sniff and I was under 30, not so long ago.
I'm surprised that Bacarrat Rouge 540 isn't on this list 🤔 It is massively over rated and over priced.
I love it too!! It’s the most unique perfume I have. I’ve worn it almost everyday since I got it.
Aw amazing! So pleased 😃 xxx
Does it smell like Miss Dior Cherie!?
Dior Absolutely Blooming is my favorite 🥰 it last 2 days on my skin.
It seem like all designers think we are a cash cow. Not only with boring flankers every 5 minutes but suddenly all classics being reformulated to mute and not lasting versions of what they used to be
they are greedy and cheaping out while raising prices
❤
"Headless naked breasts situation" haha - Eilish never appealed to me either!
That was so hilarious when she said that! 🤣
hehe :)
The perfume reminds me of her, she always looks half asleep and disinterested, her perfume is similar in my opinion.
I’m not necessarily a Billie Eilish fan but I love that perfume! It smells like delicious vanilla and chocolate to me and I always get compliments. I agree the package is not my favorite though
I Love that perfume too! I am not a fan of Billie either but the fragrance is
one of my favorite vanillas. I reach for it a lot!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Iam fine with Light Blue Intense.. It last very well..:) worth buying...
Love that you’re brutally honest about this topic!
Also, I know they’re discontinued but, I would love your review on Avril Lavigne’s perfumes. I guess it’s because I love her but I really think they’re nice and underrated. Specially Black Star and Forbidden Rose
thank you! Ah I remember those, I think black star was also my fav
Love Avril and would also love that video 😊
I always appreciate reviews on which perfumes do not last or project. I do not wnat to spend money on ones which fade in a.couple hours. Way too expensive for tgat to happen. So any feedback on longevity or projection is SO HELPFUL!!!!!!
Aw thanks so much xxx
This is far more interesting to me (and relatable) than reviewers who "like" everything, as the experience of a perfume lover testing scents day in day out is definitely not liking everything, so bringing more critical nuance to reviews is always welcome.
thank you so much for your support
I thought it was just me...I've found a few different perfumes that used to be good and now are overly light this year. Things that used to be strongly projecting and long lasting are just not lasting now. Hmm. But YES, especially Dior, Gucci, Chanel No. 5 (don't get it at all) Well done you, for being willing to say that the Emperor has no clothes.
lol My mom uses the D&G light blue quite liberally as an after shower body spray and when you use as much as she does it definitely lasts 😂 it's basically just her smell to me now lol
Everyone is different! I personally love eilish perfume love that it’s long lasting and everything 💕
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for sharing!!
No matter what, Chanel No 5 is a must have, I buy it each time I finish it. Of course is not the one Marilyn wore, but it doesn't matter, it still carries the DNA and is the best perfume ever.
Finally someone with my same opinion on miss Dior
Reviews like this are equally important as the positive ones. Thank you, Soki. And shame on you Dior😡
glad you liked it
I love that this video was made.
Aw thanks so much for your comment! It’s been scary doing it on my own but very satisfying 😃
I got into niche fragrances about half a year ago and will never go back to designer ones, even got my colleague turned to niche fragrances.
@@bellathereader1328 thank you!
i know so many ppl love carolina herrera good girl but i refuse to buy it with such a tacky plastic bottle that imo is awkward to hold and spray. slap it in a classy glass bottle and I would give it a chance for sure
I could not agree more. I hate the shoe bottles
I agree about the bottle for the CH Good Girl fragrances! I love a classy well designed glass bottle.
While reading this Paris Hilton 2000's popped in my head,ha!
No! The Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia is one of my favorite perfumes! It lasts a long time on me and is beautiful.
I say this from experience
It has a good sillage and stays around 4-6 hours… but you can certainly not smell it on yourself !!!
I agree so much about the Eilish perfume bottle. It also creeps me out, that obsession with torsos, headless and all
🙃 hehe
Also the haters were really early today in spite of being Monday... good for them on reserving all of their dreadful- beginning-of-the-week energy for Soki 😂 only true divas can commend that type of attention!
Haha I know right! Haters gonna hate 🤷♀️
I just replyed to a negative/hater comment on a different chanel too - it's a new year, I'm looking for more kindness, less bullies. Please!
I heard they discontinued the Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming in 100ml. 😢
How sad.
hmmm very suspicious!
@@ohuprettylittlethings not true, it's fully stocked in all sizes in the UK Dior store 😊
@@beth8329 They discontinued it in the US website. 🙂
Love your honesty! I feel the same way about Dior & literally disappointed - Miss Dior doesn’t last!
Light Blue is one of the best parfums for Spring and Summer.
I think you should do more reviews of perfumes you don’t like. I enjoyed watching and feel like you’ve saved me a lot of money!
Cloud 2.0 is soooo good! Even stronger than Cloud ☁️ 💜
💜💜💜
I so enjoy your videos and the way you talk about perfumes, always gentle and cute even when your view is 'negative'. The other reason why I like your videos is that my taste is different to yours and it's interesting to hear different opinions and open up to new possibilities. Thank you. :)
Oh thank you!
I have Gucci gorgeous gardenia it lasts so long and I love it so much, but I can't say it's the same as viva la juicy. Perhaps sth similar but not the same. The new jasmine is fine but nothing wow x
"A headless naked breasts situation"
I'm wheezing 😂
Nice video Soki! I share your view on Maison Dior. With this said, I am excited about Francis K being the new head of perfume dept in Maison Dior, can not wait to see what is coming up next year!
I agree with you in the whole perfume collection you advised us to keep away from but on Chanel N°5 I disagree I find it vintage classy clean perfum
Thank you for the recommendations 😊
Thanks for sharing!!
OMG!!!! I can’t believe you are saying this about the Miss Dior EDP… It’s one those best fragrances and my absolutely favorite!!
When I saw the name of the video I was a bit skeptical but now I couldn’t agree more!
You speak facts on all these perfumes and i love how you give such detail on all the perfumes. also new subscriber😭
Thank you so much!
For me Good Fortune by Viktor and rolf is a no buy ..
And what do you think about Versace Crystal Noir et Dune ?
Billie Eilish perfume was a surprise for me in that I am not the biggest fan of celebrity perfumes, I didn't like the presentation and I found it extremely pricy for a celebrity scent.
I bought it for my younger daughter who is a teenager and I dare say I love it. I love that vanilla in it and its lasting power is amazing.
Again super expensive for what it is.
Yes, i loved the lasting power too
Chanel no 5 is amazing. There is a reason it's been around for decades.
I LOVE Chanel #5. I can tell you hate it. Civet is used in several fragrances. I’m not “old” and I love Chanel #5 extrait
Great informative video. It answered my questions about lots of perfumes I was going to try but think I'll pass on now. Thank you 👍
Aw thanks so much 🥰
My favourite was also Miss Dior Cherie. Never bought Dior since. ☹️
I loved Dior Dune. Was my signature scent for 20 yrs.
Gorgeous Jasmine, Light Blue and Joy last *all day* on me. Gorgeous Jasmine is probably the best fragrance I ever owned. Maybe I am blessed with a good nose because all 100+ fragrances I own last all day on me...
I have been wearing Light Blue for 9 years it stays on me with a little moisturizer first. I agree with you on all the others
Agree on number 5 so outdated to be actually worn and smell contemporary . Appreciation for the artistry but that’s it ❤
chanel 5 is still lovely clean scent for the body, I love it for layering.
👏
I would have to disagree D&G Light Blue lasts forever on me. I've also smelled it on other so the sillage to me is great.
d&g light blue has been my "signature scent" for over 10 years.... even at work i have people tell me they knew i was in because they smelled me in the break room, or bathroom... sometimes that i hadn't been in in hours.... i also can pick up my clothes from a week ago from a dirty hamper and still smell it so i also don't understand how people say it disappears. i'm considering myself lucky since i think that it is one of the best smells in the world!
Glad to help!
Hey, I totally agree with your negatives, especially Dior … but saying that I am a Dior addict and can’t help myself buying their products 🤗
Loved this video soki! Love your honesty!!! 😍 Your perfume is going to be my christmas scent 🎄✨

@@SokiLondon I have been wearing it several times since it got here! It's so nice.. It's so versitale, sexy, cozy and elegant at the same time! 😍
Chanel no 5 is my favorite. The edp never had civet . The edp is from the 1980s . It's a complete different fragrance from the edt. I will always have no 5 in my collection. Both edt and edp.
