its about time this genre become more popular. tactical horror games has lots of potential yet only a few studios have made games within this genre, and all of them are indie studios
Can do a lot with the rewarding catharsis of surviving an encounter purely because you play the game well, either through control skill(accurate fire) or being smart enough to figure out weaknesses and danger areas (blind enemy). Would love to see more games like this, playing on normal game mechanics. E.G. give the 4 players an early sens of normalcy or superiority with weak zombie like enemies that they can kill, maybe even wasting ammo on them. Then give them tense exploration and isolation, then give them a monster they can't easily fight. Then give them a world of non-euclidean rooms, where they can't figure out how to navigate, then introduce an enemy that they can barely win against. See who survives by figuring out weaknesses, if anyone survives at all. That's not to say make it impossible, just that the game should make them lose hope, even though there is still some. Then hope that the Internet doesn't spoil it for everyone, kinda like London plays which have been performed for decades without anyone spoiling the Whodunnit mystery.
Honestly, Metro 2033 kinda had that vibe for me. Not playing as a SWAT or spec ops guy, but the tactical and horror feel was there on highest difficulty.
For non Russian-speakers there. Phrase at 1:08 means "Don't turn away" - Не отворачивайтесь. Also it has implied plural you. You can interpret as either "you all" or "you(polite)"
It seems this is set between 2 foreign nations fighting (aptly called blue and red lol) and we act as a 3rd party organization just there for the anomalies. It seems we have to avoid them if possible as they aren’t keen to be friendly. Strong SCP vibes especially with the whole focusing on anomalies over petty human disputes.
0:51 The player's character is shaking quite a lot at this part. I like to think it's a sort of actual affect that players will experience as the game goes on. At first it was stable, but now it's shaking from the stress and subdued terror of whatever they've experienced so far!
Im not seeing any "shaking" you're speaking of, all I see is the same old generic weapon sway with viewbob as they walk/jog around. I would of expected actual shaking from fear and adrenaline to be more pronounced than whatever you think is shaking here. It would be cool with the sanity mechanic from Green Hell, where you hallucinate enemies and dangers while hearing things. Instead of going crazy unlocking mechanics like The Forest, it will just be a consequential feature to hinder, scare and confuse the player more.
@@The_Questionaut You need to go to the start when they're walking, and then check the scene. They look different, or at least give the illusion of so.

First off , I want to say that this is giving me really awesome nostalgic vibes of F.E.A.R. First.Encounter.Assault.Recon... I have always loved the idea of mixing a sort of like tactical military mindset with the horror of anomalous paranormal events. I think that it's a really interesting kind of clash that forces the player or viewer to kind of have a rarer type of psychological reaction to the game or film where they have this discombobulated feeling of being this soldier type character with all this weaponry and gear that would be more than sufficient in a firefight, to which they may or may not end up heavily engaged in, and that might even be what they end up doing for most of the encounter, firefights... But then there's this other sort enemy or presence that injects itself into the gameplay, usually at unexpected times and in unexpected ways that forces the player to go from that confidence in his or her weapons and equipment, and once that's gone, the adrenaline rush will still be going, but those constant dopamine hits the player is getting from scoring headshots, and tactically dominating enemies that are not difficult to imagine existing, they are no longer there. The tenseness is, but that adrenaline is pumping because of a more primal sort of fear. The fear of the unknown.
The thing is that if the gameplay does not accomodates the paranormal events with any other form that do not uses guns then is just F.E.A.R, wich is fine but is still f.e.a.r
@@Pingevin1if I may ask, which two sentences gave you an impression that I never played F.E.A.R.? Maybe the word "tactical" was a poor choice. I was referring to the type of character background and equipment when I said that. Not the gameplay style. Game play style was definitely twitch FPS a'la Half-Life 2 but with the matrix bullet time effects that, along with the physics and particle effects, blew everyone away back then. I was so excited when it finally came to console, for I was not really a PC player then. Also not trying to start a pointless debate here but it's very presumptuous for you to state that I've never played it. That's like people on the left calling Tucker Carlson racist but then not providing any sort of context to the insult to explain what exactly he did that was racist.
A trend I've noticed in gaming within recent years is an early access game has a cool idea, and before it's done, there is a race to the finish between several similar games that potentially beat it to the punch and become the de-facto standard in whatever niche.
This looks amazing! I absolutely love the concept of a tactical shooter with horror elements. The feeling of being in control (by having weapons and being tacticool badasses) but also being in a horror setting where things you meet could very well be unaffected by your weapons is peak horror imo. Really hyped to see where this goes!
