Glad you're doing this as I just bought an '03 YZ250 and am about to start tearing it down to rebuild. Looking forward to the rest of the build series! 👍🏻

It is great to see you bring back an old bike. So many people (myself included) cannot afford a newer bike, and this gives these old bikes a new lease on life.

Can’t wait to see this YZ done. I’ve got a 97 YZ285 with yellow plastic ( YZ450F front fender / number plate ) and new Factory Effex retro graphics 👍🔥

Thank you for the inspiration, I’m keen to see how this build turns out
I’m currently restoring my 00 yz250 from the ground up with a McGrath/ off-road inspiration about it with the yz-x transmission, 18inch rear wheel, hydro clutch/ Hinson system and a few other bits a pieces. Slowly but surely getting all the parts together

What other chain adjuster blocks will fit that model bike? They dont make aftermarket blocks for that year 96-01 checked EVERYWHERE. any advice ?? Maybe something from a different bike?

That YZ may be old but is far from being a Junker, I just finished rebuilding a 99 KTM and a 99 ATK and it's easy to go overboard if your trying to stay within a modest budget, that bike didn't really need any big dollar items replaced, as long as the cylinder is in decent shape you could do a lot to this bike for a reasonable cost.

Do you have any tips on stripped gas tank nuts where you bolt on the platics? The little square of aluminum is just spinning in circles on my bike

Is there much room beneath the brass nut before you get to the plastic? I've been able to use a helicoil sometimes

Why waste all that time and money on saving the factory rads?? 120.00 on Amazon and you have new and bigger rads. If I'm wrong help me understand. Love what you do these videos are great 👍👍

Honestly, I was kind of worried when I bought some ebay rads for about $120, but damn, those things have been great.

Yeah I've got a '01 YZF 426 and it's cracked several places. Think it's a common problem with those early YZ's.
