- Here's the 2nd half of Rocky Balboa fighting Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in "Rocky IV"(4). In this half watch Rocky cut Drago, and then the fight taking a turn. One mans quest for self mastery.

Tony Burton: "YOU CUT HIM YOU HURT HIM!!! YOU SEE YOU SEE, HE'S NOT A MACHINE HE'S A MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Loved his acting especially this part, legendary. RIP
Brian Chua Truth right there....hell I would have fought Drago after that
Chris AMEN
Great performance n yes great actor, that being said, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he wasn't "acting", just being Tony Burton the trainer...
Always loved this scene
Best line in all Rocky's movies
Yesss Amen i love this scene 🙏❤💪
"HE'S NOT A MACHINE!! HE'S A MAN!!! NO PAIN!! NO PAIN!!!" - WOW Duke could inspire me to run through the FLAMES OF HELL wearing a paper suit!!!!!!
ConcreteSurfer420 ALL YOUR STRENGTH, ALL YOUR POWER, ALL YOUR LOVE!! EVERYTHING YOU GOT!!
Do it now!!! NOW!!!!!
You make sure they REMEMBER the time that they tried to burn ConcreteSurfer420
The great Tony Burton.
Hell yeah lol😂😂😂😂
This scene is so inspirational to me just because of what it represents metaphorically. Facing your own Drago in life and the moment you cut him and know that you can overcome that obstacle. One of the few movies that will actually make me tear up.
Exactly what I think too. When you struggle with an obstacle in your life that you find impossible to overcome, and then you "cut" it; the adrenaline energises you to keep going strong as did Rocky. What a powerfully metaphoric scene...
“All your strength! All your power!! All your love!!”
Faced my own Drago in life and started the gym tonight after work. Ate a healthy dinner with water, I don't want to be overweight anymore 💪🥶💪 gonna eat clean and train every day and bust this masters degree out, earn a PhD and more 😅
Me too, I'm such a sucker for this movie.
@@jogman262 , I know its a beautiful line .
When Duke says, “you see!!!” Has to be one of the most energizing lines in all of Rocky’s movies.
Its an amazing edit.. just as duke is giving rocky all the confidence to continue it cuts to drago starting to have doubts. Just brilliant.
@@Equint77 great point
I actually liked the fight scenes (more realistic) in Rocky I and II much better, but would consider this in the top 5 best -right after Bruce Less and Chuck Norris in Return of the Dragon and the brutal back alley fight in "The Live" with Roddy Pipper.
Duke had some of the most spine tingling lines in cinematic history here. He is one of the best characters in the rocky saga.
We all need a Duke in our corner at some point.
Amen!
We got little Duke now....lol
Our conscience
I know everyone is complimenting the acting and dialogue in this scene, but can we also appreciate that amazing soundtrack that accompanies the storytelling so beautifully? 👌
Vincent DiCola did an amazing job with the soundtrack. Crazy to think he got a razzie as one of the worst soundtracks back then
I listened to it over and over as a kid. This one, the training montage, and there's no easy way out are my favorites!
He also did the musical score for Transformers the Movie (1986), and that soundtrack was amazing!
Rocky taught me that life will come at you like a 7 foot Russian boxer, and every time you go down, you get the hell back up and don't quit till he's down and out.
+Humza Khan damn true my brothr
+Humza Khan But what if it happens that you are a 7 foot Russian boxer? Would that mean life is not so bad?
+Humza Khan ain't that the truth!
Wer
Very nicely put. Have you ever seen Vision Quest or Warrior?
I love how their perception of each other switches as the fight goes on. You can see it in Drago's eyes every time Rocky gets back up. By the end Rocky sees Drago as the man and Drago sees Rocky as the machine.
VERY well stated!
Drago in the middle of the fight gets it
“He is like piece of iron”
Drago knew that at that point there was no winning, only surviving
Drago maintained he couldn't be defeated when he seen Rocky brought the fight to him you could he gave him respect by saying 'til the end'.
Spot on
Like a piece of iron
The fact they filmed this almost 40 years ago and it’s still the best fight in movie history is remarkable. Truly a masterpiece in its own way.
the choreography is mediocre but the emotion and music more than made up for it. i dont care if critics call this a 90 minute music montage, this is one of the most 80s thing ever and I love it.
@@wasabi5338 definitely above mediocre but none of that even matters because like you said it is drowned out by the most emotion and hyped fight scene in movie history.
@@JohnDillinger12nah the choreography is mediocre because Rocky just gets punched for 15 rounds and landing some of his own occassionally. Rocky 2, 3 and 6 had better fight choreography, specially the Creed movies have better choreography from a boxing standpoint.
But what this (and the other Rockys had) have that wasnt present in Creeds 1 to 3 is heart. In Creed, the focus is to look good and handsome for the camera. While in the Rocky series, Sly wasnt afraid to look bad if it conveyed the emotion he wants. The Creed fights are boxing matches, the Rocky fights is man brawling with the hardships of life. Watching Rocky fight Apollo, Clubber and Ivan makes it feel like it is you vs self doubt, addiction, fear, anxiety, depression. You can visualize yourself fighting back against these despite taking the pain.
If it’s this powerful now, think about how powerful it was back in the 80s when the Cold War was still real.
Well, that is certainly one way to describe on the worst fights in movie history and a complete dredge of a movie.
YOU CUT HIM, YOU HURT HIM! YOU SEE?! YOU SEE?! HE'S NOT A MACHINE, HE'S A MAN! That scene still gets to me and sends tingles down my spine 😆😆😆
ABSOOOOOOOOOLUTELY!!!!!
He’s not human… he’s like a piece of iron
And yet you're laughing.
1:09 "You cut him...you hurt him! You see? You see?...he's not a machine, he's a man!"
+Ferruccio Guicciardi Drago is flesh and blood, just like you and me.
+Ferruccio Guicciardi Duke is the best!
+Ferruccio Guicciardi classic dialogue!
+Ferruccio Guicciardi still gives me goosebumps lol
Totally agree. After this quote the momentum of the scene changes dramatically!!!
You want it more than he does!!!!
No pain
No pain
No pain
God damn
What a coach right there
like viddal Riley
That part sticks in my head when my training starts feeling unbearable and I wanna quit, such an amazing actor, scene and movie and quote.
When I was going thru off-season football workouts, I had Duke in my head, I kept repeating, “No Pain”, even when my lungs were burning and my legs were jelly and somehow I kept going, this scene inspires more people than most realize
Same with me and swimming, it powered me to 3 state championships! RIP Tony
Tony Burton delivers that like no no one else ever could. Absolute perfection.
One just a single small cut he went from a machine to a man, from being unbeatable to a man who can be beat. Powerful stuff
Meh, that cut was pretty horrific. I was over two inches long and in real world boxing could easily have caused a stoppage in later rounds.
It took Drago’s heart. Even though Drago put up a magnificent fight and showed he was for real, it took away that mental advantage he had, being built up and hyped as this unstoppable Soviet machine.
Even though it's ridiculous that rocky didn't get apollo'ed considering apollo was consistently superior to rocky.
Had a hard time with adversity cuz he'd never had to face it.
@@utoresa5193 but Apollo didn't have Rocky's chin.
I love this scene. The contrast of the two corners, Rocky starting to see Drago as a beatable man, while Drago starts to fear Rocky's will, seeing him as an unbeatable man who's made of iron.
When you add Tony Burton's passion in this scene it really hits home. Great acting and great story telling.
This is what Hollywood is missing nowadays. To think you don't NEED a CGI monster to fight at the end of every movie. Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you need to show it in every single movie.
It's Just Hollywood not real life!
Rest in Peace Tony. He was great in all the rocky movies. My favorite scene is when he's trying to tell Apollo. He's no good for us baby... I saw you hit that man like I never saw no man get hit before, and the man kept coming after you... Now we don't need that kind of man in our lives.
And still to this day possibly one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever, I don't think it has aged bad at all!
Possibly?? One of??
It’s the GOAT of film series. A true diamond 💎
I love the whole concept behind the “He’s cut!” Scene. Up until this point, Drago was thought to be completely invincible, laughing off even the best that both Creed and Rocky had to give, but at that moment when Rocky lands the hook that makes Drago bleed, he finally realizes, further reinforced by Duke in his corner, that Drago is mortal after all, and he gets a much needed confidence boost that reinvigorates him going forward into the match.
By contrast, Drago, who up until that moment wasn’t phased by anything, seemed visibly shaken when that hit landed, going so far as to make him stagger, and only then did he realize what a dangerous and resilient opponent Rocky truly was, and that fear affected him going forward into the match as well.
“He’s not human. He’s like a piece of iron.”
0:12 This was truly the turning point, when he sees the blood flowing from the cut on his eye and realizes “...oh, shit.”
If Rocky 4 didn't make you want to be a boxer something is wrong with you
+jyaer Lewis just listening to Eminem's - guts song i wanna join my local boxing gym.
if he dies, he dies
+kaki hole eminem sucks
+JustJyaer Hey I love Rocky ..but seeing this didn't make me want to be a boxer I don't do well with Pain just looking at This fight makes my Body hurt
I want to be a boxer but I don't have the money to enroll so I'll have to settle for wrestling.
+JustJyaer Worst Sequel in the Series. Just, well, almost Cartoonish.
Rocky’s head is the best defense in the history of boxing.
agreed
Tex Cobb tried that defense against Larry Holmes, but Holmes didn't tire out enough in the 15 rounds. Cobb said afterward he just needed another 10-20 rounds and he would have worn out Holmes enough to win.
pause
@Huawei is a criminal organization. *laughs in Foreman*
He takes more shots to the head than the Kardashians sisters lol
Goodbye Tony Burton, damn a heavy heart today. A staple in the Rocky movies that will be missed. I was hoping he would have been in Creed. Thank you for the memories!
tvmoviefan you can feel and hear the emotion. So well said!.
tvmoviefan e
Great actor
If he had been in Creed, it would have been the greatest movie of all time
"See?! He's not a machine, he's a man!!" - "He is not human, he is like a piece of iron.." - whenever I'm watching Rocky I feel like nothing is impossible, believe in yourself guys and of course stay healthy these days.
It's Just Hollywood not real life!
@@tamassohajda198 no shit 🤦🏼♂️
Lol, the look on Drago's face (3:38) when Rocky puts his mouth guard back in and starts to get up: "You gotta be kidding me. Come on man, stay down, just stay down already." 😅😂
I love Drago's expression at 3:40 when Rocky gets back up after being chinned. It's as though he's thinking ''What the hell do I have to do to keep this guy down?!''
Christopher Hargreaves I took that look as simply..."what the fuck?" LOL
Lol I was just about to comment about that before I saw this! I love that Part too
"Why isn't he broken?!"
Dat guitar riff tho
He is like a piece of iron.
At that period in time, had the crowd started cheering for Rocky then every single one of them would have found government officials waiting for them when they got home.
Gone home, he'll they would of been pulled from the arena and shot outside
Actually, there would've been a show trial first.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Soviet Russia we invented Rocky first!!
Actually, Gorbachev was focused on giving the people of the Soviet Union more freedom. People were even given the right to criticize the government, so no one would've been killed for supporting Rocky. If that match had happened 10 years earlier, then yes, everyone who cheered for Rocky would've been dead shortly after the match.
If boxing was really like this, I'd actually watch it.
Giancarlo Valdez heavyweight boxing is closer to this, If boxing were exactly like this fighters would be dying all the time and have serious, serious brain damage. Defense is a thing you know.
You mean like the brain damage that the NFL has been ignoring forever? You telling me that mayweather style boxing is what's better? Give me a break. the get paid to fight, not run.
I didn't say Mayweather's style was better. If you'd watch a heavyweight fight like a klitschko fight or something you'd see that they don't just stand in the middle trading blows but it's still exciting. There's a happy medium. Why bring up the NFL, I didn't even mention the NFL. Also if you think head injuries in the NFL are bad, things would be way, way, worse if they were like this movie.
Giancarlo Valdez HA… if boxing were like this….. Here is a better analogy; if you would go through the training, face an opponent in the ring that wants nothing more than to hurt you… If you spent years… literally perfecting a hook, or a 1,2 combination and then watched boxing, you would see it completely differently. The amount of balance, speed, tenacity, endurance, courage, conviction that it takes to be a Manny Pacquiao… to be a Floyd Mayweather.. is quite simply astonishing, and nothing less than respectable. Only an armchair critic like you would actually want to sit ring side and watch two skill less street fighters hack away at each other. Rent the rocky movies, buy ufc, and leave the hard work to us, the talent, the skill to us.
Good analogy, but people pay to see fights...not defensive dancing. Floyd Mayweather? Really? He's the LAST person you should use as an example of what a boxer should be. Are you kidding me? Manny fights anyone, he doesn't duck anyone. You look at the boxers of old....Dempsey, Fitzsimmons, Lewis...the Minoan and Greek boxers that literally fought for pride not money to throw in everyone's faces and act like your ish doesn't stink. Give me a break. The UFC is the same bs but without gloves and it's full contact so your comparison is not usable. If you're afraid of getting hurt...you really shouldn't be in the ring should you?
One of the best lines ever in movies. So much emotion. It takes the fight to another level with that one beautiful line of “YOU SEE HES NOT A MACHINE HES A MAN”. That glimmer of hope. Great line.
Yup - And really he was telling *Rocky* , in case Rocky didn't see it! .. And you saw it had an immediate huge motivating effect on Rocky.
“It’s a gutter war”. I love that line.
Yeah. When boxing turn into a wrestling.
Can we take a moment to notice how Drago had good acting. He barely talked, but he sent chills down your spine. I dont have to say anything about Sly.
Da!
Great point !! 🥊🥊🥊
Drago being cold makes everything he says meaningful
In real time Drago was pretty hot.
Duke was better as rocks coach
He's not a machine , he's not a machine ! He's a man ! LEGEND...
"You Cut Him!!!!!" That's Words To Live Life By!!!!! #MOTIVATION !!!!!
The novelization sums up exactly what Drago was thinking: "All his life, he'd been told he wasn't human. But now, for the first time, he met someone HE thought wasn't human."
Possibly the most motivational scene in cinematic history.
Agreed
I went and see this movie when I was kid and I'll never forget the movie theater erupted like we were really at a boxing match. I'll never forget that. One of the most fun movies I ever went to.
RIP Tony Burton.
Rocky sure as hell did have Apollos Spirit fighting with him on that night
Bert Clayton he had both
U SEE, HE NOT A MACHINE, HE'S A MAN!! Luv this movie as a kid and still 2day
Best Boxing movie
+JAM MAC Absolutely agree
Tony Burton screaming "he's not a machine he's a man" is one of the best lines ever said in any movie!
I couldn't agree with you more
It is my favorite line in any movie!!! The whole corner scene YOU WANT IT MORE THAN HE DOES NO PAIN NO PAIN TAKE IT TO HIM TAKE IT TO HIM!!!
The best motivation by Tony Burton in a few words
My other favorite is “ALL YOUR STRENGTH!!! ALL YOUR POWER!!! ALL YOUR LOVE!! EVERYTHING YOU GOT!!”
“Want it more than he does…”
Great Line,I'm Sure Mick's Spirit Was Standing Beside Tony And Agreeing With Him! I Know Mick Would've Said The Same Thing To Rock!
I remember seeing this in the cinema when it came out as a child and it was unreal. It was like a boxing match. Everyone went absolutely beserk when this happened and no one sat down after this ! 😀😀💕💕
You had to live through the cold war to truly appreciate how high tensions got between these two nations. This movie was epic then, and still is today!
I always thought we were on the brink of war back then.
I was 5 my mother took me to see this even then I knew American 🇺🇸 way is the. Way!!
Oh that was not Cold War...Cold War was the Cuban Missile Crisis and those Duck and Cover drills!
I speak Russian. At 1:12 he said, He's not human. He is like a piece of iron.
Fanik10 nah you got it in another vid's subtitles
ok Mueller is gonna subpoena you
Fanik10 Ты Русский?
Fanik10 actually he said “its not true,he is like piece of iron
What does the trainer yell at 3:47??
I want Duke in my corner for life!
I’ve seen Rocky IV, easily 25 times and each time I see this scene when Duke inspires Rocky to stay strong and keep fighting, legit CHILLS💪🏻❄️
Dragos face when he gets cut...like he really believed he was a robot, and he realized. Oh shit....I can lose too...
"You cut him".You hurt him.You see(2)?He is a man,he is not a machine.."ROCKY IV is a masterpiece from Stallone..Thank you Sylvester for this great movie..
ΧΡΙΣΤΙΝΑ ΠΑΠΑΔΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ he really should have won Best Picture, Best director, Best actor for this. Dragon should have gotten Best supporting actor, or Duke. Either is fine with me.
Side note: Adrian should have won best actress for Rocky 3. Bust Rocks nuts on beach. If that wasn’t an awesome moment, I don’t know what is.
HE'S HURT BAD. HE'S WORRIED. YOU SEE HE'S NOT A MACHINE! HE'S A MAN! NO PAIN! NO PAIN! NO PAIN! TAKE IT TO HIM!
These Rocky movies are just the best ever!! Very inspirational.
This actually gets me thru my dark days and makes me not wanna give up on life🙏🏽
One of the best scenes in the Rocky series! Duke's words and the music really make this scene shine!
I STILL LOVE THIS SCENE!!!!!!!
2019
Saw this in the theater. Drago said Rocky was like a "piece of iron," and the the crowd erupted in applause. I have to admit...I was surprised.
Rocky's first hit on Drago changed the complexion of the match as it was no longer one-sided. I remember seeing that scene in theatres and the crowd went crazy just from that moment.
Romeofud I was eight when this film out and my dad somehow got me in to see it. (It was only a PG cert in the UK, basically meant any kid could see it if a parent or guardian was with them). Before or since I have NEVER seen a crowd react to a film the way they did to this unrealistic, cheese-mongering, second worst entry in the Rocky series.
Bearing in mind this was in England, NOT America they went frigging bananas! I distinctly remember a woman who looked about eighty screaming "Kill the bastard!" at the top of her lungs during the fifteenth round. Looking back now, that seems hillarious, but at the time, I was just as caught up. Finally, when Rocky puts Drago on his arse in the fifteenth, the ENTIRE AUDIENCE stood up and applauded like they were watching the real thing.
Second only to Rocky V in terms of lack of artistic merit it may be, but Stallone always knew how to play on an audience's heart strings and he never did it with any other movie quite as much as Rocky IV, which I'm sure is why it grossed so much.
Jamie Sleeman What do you mean by artistic merit? This film was enjoyable, fast paced and fun with a fantastic soundtrack. Not everything has to be ponderous to be good.
Nicholas Brown Nothing to do with its pacing, it's its general silliness. The robot, the shark jumping over Drago being so effective in his first pro-fight, the repeated cliche of Adrian bitching and whining before finally lending her support (third movie in a row).... The first film was a gritty human story well worthy of the Oscar nominations it got. The second wasn't far behind. The third started getting daft and this one lined up four sharks in a row and jumped them all in one shot.
Yeah, no communist fighter has ever been completely dominant in his first pro fight, oh wait...
The really interesting thing is that after Rocky cut Ivan, it is no longer Drago who becomes inhuman but Rocky. Drago even says, "He's not human. He's like a piece of iron." He took for granted the fact that Rocky has a dull skull and a granite chin so he could take punches all night. Now I grant you that Drago's punch was comparable with being hit with the blast of a shotgun, but hey this is Rocky Balboa lol.
Just watch Wladimir Klitschko vs Ross Puritty.
Klitschko is probably the hardest hitter EVER, and yet he spent 11 rounds bombing Ross and he didn't go down. In the end, Wlad tired himself out and his corner threw the towel.
Of course, after Wlad changed his style he never got KO'd again.
Its not a real fight. Bless u. Ignorant fuck
What is incredible is that this fight never happened, it's a movie. I understand, I love movies too. Just try to keep that tiny little thought tucked away somewhere.
dyslexicjim LOL From Philly...
zTundra
Hardest hitter ever even said by the greatest himself as in M. Ali was from Philadelphia, need I say his name? He died not so long ago...
SMOKING Joe Frazier!....
The beauty of this scene is also what we all missed and it’s how the song is kind of a blend of Eye of the Tiger and Russian instrumental.
Love the reactions from Rocky’s son and team. Every father should try to be such an inspiration.
Damn right!!
I'm probably the only girl here but omg I love this so freaking awesome 😍👏
Rosey Ceja my brother going back to boxing
Tony Burton's corner motivation is the best I have seen real life or movies.
still get chills
i have always looked at Drago as life once you realize the things you need to change and do in your life to move on to become a true man you can weaken it it's always inspired me this movie Drago it's whatever demon or obstacle you face in life once you realize it bleeds it's destructible
We’re all in our own rings fighting for our lives... thank you for this.. 🙏🏻
This movie helped me change my life. I was a chain smoker for 13 years then decided to stop. I was so depressed during the withdrawal period, shit's messed up that time. Then this movie was featured on HBO. Man, Duke's dialogue just empowered me with so much motivation that if I could get it through today, I definitely could make it through tomorrow. Now I'm smoke free for 6 years.
Rest in Peace to the legendary Tony Burton.....Great movie to say the least.
+No1 Noob who is tony Burton rocky ?
+razor101 405 HE'S NOT A MACHINE. HE'S A MAN
+Wendell Nibbs no one's a machine
+razor101 405 😖.....The guy that said it is Tony Burton.
+Wendell Nibbs I think your missing the point duke said that because everybody dragon fought didn't make a dent on him so he's automatically this super human and he's been beating everybody so he is the Russian super machine
They sure don't make movies like they use to.
80s glory
@Bacons Strip Well it's only cheesy to morons who have no substance ... Which there are a lot out here BUT there are a lot of kids in their early 20s who are rocky fans as well. They have netflix and youtube too. haha Creed was ok but it has nothing on the original Rocky. Creed is pretty much Floyd MayWeathers lifes story in movie form. I'm surprised Floyd didn't go after the creators of Creed. Rocky itself appeals more to the masses than most movies will.. People don't give the younger generation enough credit. There are a lot of young people who much rather watch older movies from the 80s and 90s than the crap that comes out today because most of the new movies only appeal to simple minded individuals. If you have an IQ higher than a rock then it's hard to watch a majority of the movies that come out today.
MrGrownman455 agreed 👍🏽
Bacons Strip everything now is “political” thats why no gives a shit about films from this decade
@Bacons Strip shut up.
1:07 How to motivate some big time by Tony Burton...just fucking brilliant, gave me goosebumps in the cinema when i was a kid watching this.
Harry Callahan I still get them one of the best times in my life
The way these two lines come back to back is just awesome. Duke reaffirming to Rocky that Drago is just a man versus Drago saying that Rocky is not human. He's like a piece of iron. Such an awesome scene!
One of the most inspirational dialogues ever! Not just for this movie but in life. Just when you think something is insurmountable
rocky 4 will all ways be the best rocky movie
Earl Edmonds there's all as good as each other
Earl Edmonds in terms of movie making rocky 1 is the best. this one is God on adrenaline though.
Earl Edmonds what about rocky3.hit got hot much more and harder
Earl Edmonds agreed
i love 3 the most, because mr. t. is mean for no apparent reason. lol
Rocky shows this guy why he's world heavyweight champion!!
matt kylie unyielding.
Somehow....
I remember having a "he's cut" moment. It happened when I finally got a calculus problem right.
The greatest motivational trainer ever! You hurt him, you see, he’s not a machine. He’s a man! R.I.P. Tony Burton
I just love Drago's face at 3:41 like "Aww, c'mon!!" when Rocky keeps getting back on his feet!
This is the masterpiece of all boxing movies, nothing can reach this fight !
God, even tho I don’t like how they killed off creed, I love how duke stayed by Rocky’s side through the beating he received and how he tell him “he’s not a machine he’s a man!” Just hits so hard
4:30 is such an epic moment
I agree. He looks over at dragos corner.. curious
They don't want to stop.
I agree such a powerful moment too
Both of them can’t feel their injuries and just want to experience and cause more pain to their opponent
As if they’re gorrilas curious about how many times can they take until they fall
The music change to highlight that moment. Chills
Favorite part of that movie. I always get goosebumps when he says, you cut him, you hurt him!!! You see you see, he’s not a machine he’s a man!!!!!!! Goosebumps with tears in my eyes looool
"You cut him, you hurt him, you see he's not a machine... he's a man!!"
You are not a human being if this doesn't get you pumped up...
R.I.P. Tony Burton.
4:34 the greatest moment in movie history
Especially how they stare at each other when their in their corners
And my personal favorite rocky combo on drago!!
Jebus I’m surprised I didn’t wear the vhs tape out as a kid watching this over & over..legendary.
BEST SCENE, "YOU SEE, HE'S NOT A MACHINE, HE'S A MAN"
Damn now I can see why rocky has brain damage in rocky V. Ivan is a freaking monster holy shit
Ivan's strength and stature sure has alot of power. 🤷🏾♂️
This reminds me of the Cavs Comeback against The Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. The way Cleveland rallied on the road just like Rocky winning against Drago in Moscow, was amazing to watch.
Holy moly duke rocks. So much passion.
“He’s cut! He’s cut!!” The theatre went nuts! Best theatre experience ever!
“Now he’s worried… You cut him…!You hurt him…! You see he’s not a machine, he’s a man…!” One of my favorite movie quotes used in the perfect moment and context.
Fun fact. This match was 100% real. No choreography. After 7 or so attempts, Stallone wasent convinced the fight looked real enough so he told Lundgren they would fight for real. All these punches are real. Stallone even told Lundgren to hit him as hard as he could. The blow swelled Stallone's heart and put him in intensive care for 8 days.
Later Stallone went on to say Lundgren could compete in real heavyweight boxing and that he was a idiot for telling Lundgren to punch him like that.
WOW! You´re kidding!! I watched this movie in my adolescence to only discover that in my 40´s... what is communication today.
Thanks a lot mate i never knew this before,
this makes the whole thing feel more tense xD
I wouldn't want too be Apollo,
poor, poor Apollo : (
Emblem ur exactly right!! Lindgren was a legitmate fighter
Yeah, Lundgren is a real tough guy. He was European karate champion that's also competed in several other martial arts. And he's a big mofo too.
3:59
So subtle, especially in a movie as bombastic as this, but you can see a form of mutual respect has been reached. Drago is human again and Rocky invites him to feel the feeling of REAL competition.
You notice it when in the last round, Drago goes up to him “til the end”
You knew at this moment they earned each other’s respect
Drago: "He is like a piece of iron"
My mate once banged a bird in benidorm who looked like drago....happily married now
"He's not a machine, he's a man" single greatest line in cinema history for me.
Duke trained Rocky to beat one of the deadliest Rocky opponent's ever. Their combination was a key to an unstoppable success.
That line still gives me goosebumps to this day
When I saw this in the theater in late 1985, the theater literally popped like it was a real fight - I was in 3rd grade but the adults were also cheering and screaming - especially when he finally clocks that big Russian in the eye....ahh..growing up cold war - nothing quite like it.. - America! Fuck Yeah! (You Russians are cool too of course....I just think we had more entertaining propaganda)
If u going through something in life this is that video we all need
On top of the “ he’s not a machine he’s a man “ speech , I adore the next talk of “ want it more than he does , no pain , no pain “ 😤😤😤
Wow indeed. Duke was Rocky's best trainer because he understood the warriors death and unless it is accepted it chains the heart and soul, in life man must choose what he is willing to die for and honor this as logos. Mickey juxtapositionally was concerned about Rocky and told him to "stay down" because he didn't believe in a warriors death, who picked easier fights for him (as seen in the story development in Rocky 3) but Duke understands this fight means something more. He understands it's Rocky's choice and this is his crucible.
I love how, even when Rocky managed to damage him with the cut, the music didnt start getting more upbeat until Rocky did a few shots later, when Rocky realized he could actually beat him now
Love the hit at 3:34. Looks like Stallone really took it.
I think I read somewhere that the hit at 0:23 is totally real. Accident, but real.
My favorite. And they knew it would look good so they built the music around it.
Took alot of hits
It impossible for this little man to WIN Haha LMAOOOOO
that line always gave me cold shivers "you see, hes not a machine. hes a man."
“Want it more than he does. No pain! No pain! No pain! Take it to him! Take it to him! Take it to him”
“You cut him! You hurt him! YOU SEE! YOU SEE! HES NOT A A MACHINE! HES A MAN!!!”
The novelization sums up beautifully what Drago was thinking: "All his life, he'd been told he wasn't human. But now, for the first time, he met someone HE thought wasn't human."
U see he's not a machine he's a man. I just want to run through a brick wall every time I see it
