    1. Enlarge discharge hose diameter +25-50% larger than inlet funnel diameter
    2. Move Suction section near discharge end.
    3. Make venturi section adjustable to allow optimization.

Flapper valves work pretty good, choker valves work even better. Remember to have your outlet hose connected when testing because you need water in the outlet pipe to make the outlet valve close when you pull the upstroke. A lot of people forget this when testing their new invention and think it doesn't work. regards Bill

Nice instruction vid there, mate! I have got the pipes, and a building plan, but lack some small pieces, like the stop lid on the collecting part. My idea is to have a thinner sucker pipe as a front piece. I`ll proberly make a tip on the suction mouth in metal, with some inwards bent triangels. Just to prevent the bigger rocks to go into the system and block the pipes.
Still haven`t found alluvial gold yet, but already started making a "bazooka" fluid bed box in aluminium. 80 cm in length. Also bought a plastic drop riffle sluice box, and waiting for another kind of metal sluice box to arrive. Looking foreward to the spring now. Still much snow here.

+The man who never found gold. Lol you have gone sluice box mad ;-) The plastic drop riffle work well where did you get it? I want to do a bazooka type too Yes put some mesh or something in your nozzle I dont have the problem with the big hole but I would be with the smaller tube. Check the moss at high water level on the inside bends. Going next week to get some.

Here`s the drop riffle thing I bought. Have tried it and it collects the heavy stuff very well. www.ebay.com/itm/Eldorado-Gold-Sluice-Box-Professional-expert-Gold-Prospecting-Equipment-/252296961778?hash=item3abe121ef2:g:uvIAAOSwgQ9V4zxN
I love DIY-stuff, so I went for making a bazooka thing here. Got this sheet of aluminium from a friend, and what else than a fluid bed box could I make of it, hehe.. Made a small model 1/4 size in cardboard, and will do some improvements and small changes with the full-sized box.

Cheers mate I will have a look shipping and tax makes everything stupid prices here. The DIY stuff is best I am trying to figure out how to make a bender to bend the sheet aluminum. I have seen some stuff. I am just starting some tomatoes f3 ;-) Hope all is well with you mate I know you had some bad times this year and last. Go and find some gold. I would like to see your box. I have a job interview tomorrow bit nervous..

I've seen the stright style gravity dredge it works well but you need lots of hose and drop. It works well actually. Nice hand dredge.

+Bayou billy Cheers I have seen them too. I am hoping the way I want to try will give me a bit more suction by using a funnel flair at the top I dont want to have to pack 300ft of pipe lol but the drop is the most important thing.
I have to give it a try I know it will work in some places better than others.

Now I see how the pump works. The new theory makes sense to me hope it works as well in practice.

+Dale Calder It is more of a suck than a pump but it gets the gold off the rock where a shovel would not. I am going to have a play around with the siphon dredge over the summer might just save my back. It will only work in certain areas but if I can do it on the cheap well worth a try its not like we get lots of gold here. Its all fun as long as I dont get arrested ;-)

With the hand dredge, I say use a wye fitting turned around. Take an 1/8 th bend and make an 'H' fitting. Have the suction side coming from the side inlet and the discharge straight ahead. That way, any material that comes up drops into the straight part below the piston. All the other hand dredges, the discharge is offset.

hello,i'm a french prospector and i live in south of France. here we can't use any motor to dredge and when i looked your vidéo i have made your system, it run very well ! not on a long distance (2 to 3 mètres ) and with big suction. so tank you for this great idea

+MrDazp1 You need one for rock you can not get the gold off the rock with a shovel. The gold will lay on the rock like it lays on the miller table. Get a hand brush too so you can sweep the beds rock and get the stuff together.

u dont need that much of a river drop mate. submerge all the flexi pipe in the river until the river is running through it, raise downriver end and presto. have some kind of mesh over the suck end for big rocks, also have some kind of heavy weigh around for when u want a break, if the front end sucks air it stops. flexi pipe works best ofc but remember the natural riffles in the pipe, be sure to clean it out every now and then :) used this method for many times. you will need something to slow the flow on the box as alluvials will be going tooooo quick, hope this helps.

Hi dave, you should throw an eye on jabsco joker valves for a one way manual pump system

Look up Ram pump, it uses a pressure tank and one-way valve can build up to 70 PSI, that's how I'm going to do some good sluicing in the backcountry

So you want to make a bazooka? If you had a 1" pipe coming in at an angle from a gas pump. How many feet per sec? Then, water is .433 lbs per foot. 100' = 43.30 lbs Go online and search for tables (psi/feet per second)and pipe size.I'm not looking, but I'd make a guess of ,at least 50 psi. The drive line would have to start above the bazooka about 135 feet vertically to get 50 psi at the bazooka. It can be done, but, wow! You'd have to run a whole lot more pipe(unlless it's a vertical cliff)Plus, you need the flow ABOVE to be substantial. It'd suck a swimming pool dry in a minute. No piddling creek would do.

Any motor is not allowed in California for dredging. You aren't allowed to use a shop vacuum(though I see nothing wrong with collecting material from above the water line, taking it home and panning it) Still, not allowed.

It will work it's the same concept as I used for bilge pump drive dredge I tested at home. 1&1/4 PVC to a Y connector with a funnel on the inside. after fine tuning the sweet spot is found, the pressure of the water passing this point is enough to suck gravel in. Just make sure the output in larger than the input so a 1&1/2 inch Y would be best with a reducer for the section to 1". As regards the funnel - Drill a hole in a small bottom a rectangular plastic bin and dam up the area with rubble bags. Result is 100% gravity powered suction dredge. I will do a vid on this during the summer as I have all the parts already
