I am trying really hard to get nines in all of my subjects as my teachers decided to predict me all A* in my GCSEs, but I do not get a lot of subjects. So, in my spare time, I am now studying the topics that I did in lesson, to get a better understanding of it. I love the equations side to it ( I LOVE maths (non-sarcastically)) but I just want to get better at the theory. Personally I do not like free science lessons as much, and when I found you lessons I was in love with the teaching style! My biology teacher set us some of your videos to watch as homework and they were so easy. Now when it comes to revising sciences, I only watch your ones, as they can be understood really easily!! Thank you!!

I did not learn Physics back in high school so I'm having a bit of a hard time in University trying to study Introductory Physics. This video was extremely helpful. Thank you very much for this!!
The more I go to school and reflect on how much money I spend and how much time is required sitting ina classroom in order to get a degree and end up on UA-cam before every exam reading the same comments over over from lost students thankful to have found helpful videos (like this) who simplify concepts, the more I confirm what a racket to the whole system is! I'm forced to sit in a classroom for hours, or the equivalent, to have someone that is being paid by the school to take all that time to teach what I can learn on UA-cam in 10 mins. It's amazing. See how the system traps people?? No way to make money if you don't require X amount of hours of didactic learning in order to get that coveted degree that you have to have. You want the magic piece of paper? It'll cost ya!
I have pretty much watched most of your GCSE science videos for my mocks, and I got 9-9 (from a 6-6 in normal tests) because of them so thank you and keep up these really good videos :)

00:07 Elements have different forms called isotopes 00:39 Radioactive materials consist of unstable isotopes that can decay 01:15 Alpha particles are helium nuclei with an overall charge of two plus 01:49 Gamma particles and pizza particles are both types of particles. 02:24 Atoms decay and emit electrons at high speed 03:02 Alpha particles are waves of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the nucleus 03:29 Radiation types include alpha particles and neutron emissions. 04:05 Different types of radiation require different materials to stop them
This makes a lot of sense. I always thought gamma, alpha, and beta “particles” were something new, but they are just a classification of things I already understood. I may not understand how these things happen but i can imagine how they might. I think the decay of the neutron was the most interesting part as i was not aware a neutron could become something different and spit out an electron like that.

Very concise and clear. The beta particle obviously has a wave component you haven’t mentioned. A movingly particle creates a wave at some frequency which is dependent on its velocity through that medium. This can be observed in a Wilson cloud chamber

Writing “no mass” next to beta particles is kinda misleading, since electrons have a mass of 9.11x10^-31, which is small, but can be confused with gamma rays, which have no mass or charge. Awesome video nonetheless.
I get that gamma rays can easily penetrate through us - but why do we consider them dangerous if they have a low ionising power? Sure they can pass through us, but surely the low ionising power will cause them not to do much damage to us?
You have given examples of what will stop alpha, beta and gamma rays. can you please given example of what will stop a neutron so it will help to understand it's power comparatively
this is amazing, but i must suggest you record the audio in an enclosed area or as an echo remover. if you have a cuboard or closet that is big enough then that should remove any echo you have. thanks anyway
