You should interview and instrumentation and controls technician and or automation tech. That seems like one of the more interesting and niche trades and they make good wages.

Any thoughts about roofing and roofing unions? It is either roofing union apprentice or carpenter union apprentice.

I have a question. I am thinking about going into being a steamfitter. The UA local has both pipefitters and steamfitters. I gave read pipfitters and steamfitters are the same, just slightly different in what do. Can you provide anymore detail information on steamfitters?

Steamfitters and pipefitters are both skilled trades within the broader field of plumbing, but they have distinct areas of specialization. Pipefitters focus on installing and maintaining piping systems that transport various fluids, such as water, gas, and chemicals. Their work is essential in industries like manufacturing, oil refining, and power generation. Pipefitters often deal with high-pressure systems and must be adept at working with a variety of materials, including steel, copper, and plastic.
Steamfitters, on the other hand, specialize in systems that transport high-pressure steam, which is typically used for heating, cooling, and power generation. Their work involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, heat exchangers, and other steam-related equipment. Steamfitters must have a deep understanding of thermodynamics and pressure systems, as their work often involves complex and potentially dangerous conditions. Both trades require rigorous training and apprenticeships, but steamfitters typically need additional specialized knowledge due to the specific demands of working with steam systems.
While both pipefitters and steamfitters work with piping systems, steamfitters focus specifically on high-pressure steam systems, requiring additional expertise in this area. Both trades are crucial for the infrastructure and industrial sectors, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of fluids and gases.

@@adrenalinetube7545 I am a special pickle. I might be moving to NC, or might stay in NJ. Once I figure that out. I can take the classes and then test.
I currently do not have a “teacher” just the owner who is cheap as all hell. Good guy, but that’s about it. I run jobs on my own on his behalf and other jobs on mine. We are a 2 man crew not including the owner. He is working solo tomorrow (Saturday). 🙈
