This is, indeed, another excellent example of Bruichladdich's blending skills in the Cask Exploration Series, which seems to be one of Adam Hannett's babies. This started a few years ago with the CC 01 (cognac cask), followed up more recently with the MC 01 (Madeira cask) and the MRC 01 (Mouton Rothschild French red wine cask). I like these experiments as, despite their price, they offer relatively good value for money compared with the Octomore line, whose prices are clearly over-inflated. The other thing I especially like about this new expression is the fact that Hannett made the wise decision to go easy on the Oloroso cask finish. So there's still some distillery character and balance in this bottling. That helps to make of it a genuinely enjoyable dram which is noticeably a Bruichladdich/Islay product, rather then just any old Sherry bomb. Well done, Bruichladdich! Cheers.
Yeah same. The ones with 50% abv also don't need water. This needs a few drops and it opens up and damn it's as good as octomore. Octomore is overpriced. Look if it was 150 in stead off 250euro I would be happy. But 250 for a bottle that I drink out with some friends on a taste evening (read drunk evening) is to much. For my own yes I always have 1 for like a birthday or Holliday or just a regular Sunday.
It's 120 euro in Belgium now. I can get it cheaper in Germany. But yeah the gassprices now.... Nope. I just pay 120. Edit in some states in USA it's as much as 190 dollars.. damn that's a lot.
If you think age is a always important characteristic when it comes to peated Islay whisky you did not taste enough yet. The important part here is that the sherry casks in which it got finished are original casks from a Spanish bodega which give a completely different sherry infulence than the normaly used casks that get seasoned with sherry for the whisky industry. But overall when it comes to peated whisky a young age is often what you are looking for because the older they get the more they lose their peat component.
@@Balduin-di9hl I didn't say age is important. For me its just that a 9 yr old whisky for 100 € is alot of money no matter how good the casks are. Ive had my share of peated Whiskies and I know that ppm levels get less after years of maturation, that's why I like a yong phenolic/ high alkahol whisky.

Just a small correction: the MR in MRC stands for Mouton Rothschild, not Madeira, and I believe the MC is a Marsala finish
Because of this channel, I have found many good whiskeys to buy and enjoy. Thank you guys so much.
"It's nutty. Did I say nutty?"
"No"
"It's nutty"
Bruichladdich makes some beautiful whisky. I wish it was more available in my local stores.
Buy online.👍
I like me a good Port Charlotte, they say Heavily Peated but many of the bottles aren’t ‘that’ peated to my palate.
Cheers 🥃

@@Balduin-di9hl its not about casks or age, too many marketing in those PS series..
Hello, it appears you missed a huge factor on price - ABV.
