This story really brings out the truth about Judy Garland; thanks to her daughter's leadership. It shows and proves the problems in her life were not her fault. And that Judy herself remained optimistic. Excellent job, Lorna!
Judy's voice was such a gift from Heaven. She could reach incredibly high pitches and her tremolos were naturally mastered, truly showing she was born with that voice. She knew how to uplift the listener.

@@School-yz5qo I'm so glad that you got out of that soul eating, body destroying business! Use your beautiful voice to praise the Lord, sing out of joy and for the pleasure of friends and loved ones. Hollywood could do so many good things, if run by really ethical people, but its history bears out how many human beings it used and ruined. This film is excellent and a great tribute to a wonderfully talented lady who was always used- from her mother on down throughout her life. Excellent acting, so touching to see the heart and soul of Judy, her kids, who must have had a tough time in that roller coaster life. This is a very loving tribute by Lorna for her mum, showing a very humane viewpoint and respect. It seems Sid Luft was the only one who really stood by her, through all ups and downs. RIP Judy, you gave the world much happiness. Now you can sing with the angels, not at the command of some greedy studio head!
I love this movie, I think Judy Davis did a better job in this version than Renee Zellweger did in the unauthorized film. Tammy Blanchard was great, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I think she should have played Judy longer than just her teen years.
I was 9 years old when Judy passed on. For every child back then, it was explained that Dorothy had died. I was devastated. Children to Senior Citizens were impacted equally. It was the first time, I witnessed an entire world grieve. And the loss of Judy Garland still reverberates. The world had great difficulty letting her go.
You know what’s soooooooo sad about this. Her mother giving her uppers & downers at 10 years old and she never was able to become sober. This too happened to Matthew Perry. His mother gave him alcohol in his bottle as a baby to help him sleep as he stated during a program he was on shortly before his passing. He never could kick the habit of whatever he was on at the time. And it all stemmed from the parents🥲🥲🥲 God have Mercy on their souls, Rest in Peace Judy and Matthew. I pray you’re with our Lord who is sooooo Merciful. ✝️🙏📿❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely, Tammy. Benzodiazepines are one of the two substances that should never be quit cold turkey. The risk of death is significant, the other is alcohol. Anyone wishing to detox from either should only do so under the guidance of their Dr.
Please note that there are two muted sections in the film rather close to each other. Each section is less than a minute and there is little to no dialogue in either section. The muted parts are: 26:36 - 27:01 31:37 - 32:27 I had to mute the two sections because they contained copyrighted songs from “The Wizard of Oz” that had I not muted them, the entire video would be blocked worldwide. The rest of the film has full sound and I apologize for the two muted sections.

This is really a first-rate biopic, and always has been. And not JUST as a network television miniseries, as a biopic in general. It's respectful and reverent, while also being very detailed and showcasing Judy as a talented, brilliant, complicated, flawed person. A three-dimensional human being. The writing and acting are all-in. ABC also did a two-part miniseries about Anne Frank around this time, and they knocked it out of the park with that one as well. I miss when the networks did stuff like this.
This was a great movie!! Judy Davis won an award and deserved it 💯. I’m not sure if the younger actress portraying Judy was nominated or won any awards but she should have!!!

Such a superb miniseries with Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis capturing Judy's essence so brilliantly! Thanks so much for uploading this. I'd originally saved it to a VHS tape back when it aired on TV and really love the way it remained faithful to Luft's memoir.
I am hearing impaired since birth but was able to watch this although no CC. From one Judy to another (Garland and Davis): two thumbs up, you did good. God is proud of you. 👍😘
Renee zellweger wishes she could portray Judy half as good as these actresses did. Liza wasn’t convince and neither was I. This movie is a gem, it’s absolutely amazing, sad and accurate.
I've always loved this movie. My only real criticism is that I feel like Tammi Blanchard should have played Judy up until the 1950s. Judy Davis did an amazing job but I feel like she looked way too old to be playing Judy during Meet me in St Louis since Judy was still in her early 20s when doing that movie.
once anyone see's this film they would fall in love with Judy. she is really the beginning of how dangerous hollywood could be young or old, i didnt reeally know much about Judy before seeing this and i can only feel for her...
I wish they had kept the younger Judy when they covered movies like to see you in St. Louis. The actress appears to be too old to play a 21-year-old. Besides that it’s a great movie
I did say in pt 2, that I thought the producers wanted Blanchard and Davis to win awards in seperate acting categories. If Blanchard had more screen time, she wouldn't have qualified for best supporting, and would've competed with Davis in best actress, which the producers did not want.
What a magical time. I was born in 1990, and while that decade had immense charm itself - there is just something about this the times that are being recreated in this film. I think I would have loved to have been alive back then.
I hope hollywood still isn't like this with new young talent. My daughter has ambitions to make it in hollywood and I don't want to see her end up or treated like Judy was by the studios.
Best of luck for your daughter, just stay by her side, is what I would say, after seeing what some of the Disney kids went through & recently Nickelodeon. I think the industry is still rotten at the core, but if child stars have a family who look out for them more than the money they earn then they can pursue the dream without harm.
I have the book that was based on this movie and it's one of my favorite books!! Lorna really painted a different picture of her mother other than the picture that we thought was Judy Garland. She said that Judy was NOT a tragic person AT ALL. I believe that, but I don't think it was Judy's fault or MGM's fault for her pill addiction. It was just something that happened, because they had no knowledge of drug addiction back then and they had no drug rehab programs back then
I felt terrible for Lorna, who had to be the parent for her brother Joey and her mother, which is common in many families with addictions where the older children are forced to be responsible for the younger ones when the parent is too addicted to care for them, and it took a toll on Lorna. This was a great movie, and Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis did a stellar job playing Judy. A cautionary, and tragic, tale on fame.
The entire cast were phenomenal. Poor Judy, they really put her to her limit, quite similar to Michael Jackson. Damn the entertainment industry is brutal.
I saw this when it was broadcast and it was marvelous. The "Judy" movie was quite good, but this is a biopic and very well made. High quality. I don't think Lorna got enough credit for this.
What a truly beautiful, heartwarming- and -wrenching film about Judy Garland's life! The grinding machinery of the film business has destroyed so many stars. Yet if it really wants to, Hollywood can create marvelous, positive works which would have a positive effect on the world. The acting in this sensitive movie is so special, I was really impressed by the performers, and I appreciate the loving and respectful way Lorna showed her mother's life with all its struggles and triumphs! Thank you for uploading this gem, I enjoyed it throughout!

The worst thing Judy's mother did to Judy was tell her to help with the dishes, like her sisters did, after she became a star. Judy got carried away with her importance. And it's impossible Judy believed the hogwash she said about her mother.
@@akrenwinkle Another thing she threatened to abuse Judy if she didn’t perform in Vaudeville. I know though that Judy did resent Ethel at times because she pushed her into show business.
@@macmahon_matt Judy loved performing from age 2; it wasn't necessary to push her. The over-the-top stories about Mrs. Gumm striking her, leaving her behind at hotels, locking her in closets and other nonsense are uncorroborated, denied by Judy's sisters, and have only one source: Judy when medicated. They found their way into last husband Mickey Deans' book in 1970. Deans hardly knew Judy and believed her.
While filming the "I Got Rhythm" sequence for Girl Crazy, she is continually being reprimanded by the director, the no-nonsense Busby Berkeley, over not putting enough energy into her performance. 42:46

This *TV movie* -- originally *broadcast in two parts* on *ABC* in *February 2001* -- received a *ton of praise* when it was released and was nominated for *13 Emmys,* including *Best Miniseries.* It won for *Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries* (Judy Davis), *Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries* (Tammy Blanchard), *Best Costumes,* *Best Hairstyling,* and *Best Makeup.* Many at the time felt that it should have been released theatrically.
If this were a theatre movie, she would have won the oscar for sure. It was cable, so at least she DID get the golden globe for best actress in a drama. Judy Davis is one of my favorite actresses. I've just always wondered why she doesn't get enough work.
Why did they switch actresses? The girl who played the Young Judy Garland is such a great job. They could’ve allowed her to continue in that role, they should have allowed her to continue in that role.
I remember in one of Judy garlands unfinished book she said her mother is the true wicked witch of the west how heart breaking yet I don't blame her they all saw Judy as just a walking money making machine
There were times Judy was more forgiving to her mother and talked about the difficulty she had operating in a male-dominated world. She said her mother mainly wanted to be her own person and be allowed to take charge.
This movie doesn't get enough credit as a Judy Garland biopic, it's amazing! I think her daughter working so closely with it is a big reason why.

I wish they had kept the younger Judy when they covered movies like to see you in St. Louis. The actress appears to be too old to play a 21-year-old. Besides that it’s a great movie
A lot of people share your opinion, myself included. I think that they should have kept her at least till 1945 or 1946.
"To See You In St. Louis." I love it!
I did say in pt 2, that I thought the producers wanted Blanchard and Davis to win awards in seperate acting categories. If Blanchard had more screen time, she wouldn't have qualified for best supporting, and would've competed with Davis in best actress, which the producers did not want.
@@xxxxxxxxx3944 Ahh, I see. Too bad because I think Tammy should have been Judy longer. I would have done the switch just before A Star is Born.
Yeah Davis was distracting in this film and I feel shallow for saying that cos I love her in other films.
What a magical time. I was born in 1990, and while that decade had immense charm itself - there is just something about this the times that are being recreated in this film.
I think I would have loved to have been alive back then.
She was only 4 ft 11 no wonder they thought she was fat even an extra 5 lbs would make her look fat and she was beautiful
This film inspired me to write a stage musical about Judy Garland
It's so thrilling when they deny her the Oscar, isn't it? A real high point.
The entire cast were phenomenal. Poor Judy, they really put her to her limit, quite similar to Michael Jackson. Damn the entertainment industry is brutal.
Michael and Judys stories are so similar and I’m a huge fan of both
@@sauronbagginsd8032 Same here 👍🏼
Life itself can be brutal but we all have God. ❤
This needs a proper Blu ray release. Great movie.
Judy Garland will always be remembered.
Just the kids
Thank you for adding subtitles to this movie! I am deaf, so finally seeing subtitles really helps me focus on the movie
No problem! Some of the subtitles are not entirely accurate because it's auto-generated captions, but I'll work on getting that fixed asap.
If this hit theatres, she would no doubt have gotten an acadamy award. This performance was unbelievable. Far surpassing Zellweger.
Magnificent performance! I could watch this over & over 🎶
I saw this when it was broadcast and it was marvelous. The "Judy" movie was quite good, but this is a biopic and very well made. High quality. I don't think Lorna got enough credit for this.
The muted songs are “We’re Off to See the Wizard” and “Over the Rainbow”.
What a truly beautiful, heartwarming- and -wrenching film about Judy Garland's life! The grinding machinery of the film business has
destroyed so many stars. Yet if it really wants to, Hollywood can create marvelous, positive works which would have a positive effect
on the world. The acting in this sensitive movie is so special, I was really impressed by the performers, and I appreciate the loving and
respectful way Lorna showed her mother's life with all its struggles and triumphs! Thank you for uploading this gem, I enjoyed it throughout!
I think this is one of the best biopic of Judy
In 1953, Ethel dies in a parking lot after suffering a heart attack. Initially, Judy does not react to the news, having been estranged from her for years 1:30:25
Yeah they had a difficult relationship since she started her career at the age of 2
@@brianpratts exactly and I read more of Judy Garland stories about her life, her career, her family's and drugs too...
Tammy Blanchard🇺🇸 & Judy Davis🇬🇧 both did an excellent job as younger & older Judy.
🫱🏻🫲🏽 🥳 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🏆
That's why they both won Emmy awards
@theatergeek82 ...as a 🇬🇧 I thank you for that snippet of info. They BOTH deserved their awards, respectfully. 😊👏🏽👏🏽
Judy Davis is Australian, not British
@@BLTKellys oh dear, my mistake!
I have never heard of this, but it is fantastic xx Judy Garland will live on as a legend xx
Over the rainbow will always belong to judy garland
THANK YOU! THANK YOU for posting this and not in parts.
This is THE Judy Garland biopic!
Absolutely👍👍
Judy had the best voice .. the voice of the century. And could she ever phrase the song.
Brilliant, thank you so much! I didn't know this movie existed and I love Judy Davis as well as Judy Garland
I have this DVD. Have watched too many times to tell. I hope people enjoy this as much as I do! ❤😊

I love Judy Garland more so in the movie Wizard of Oz !
Now I want to watch the movie . Wizard of Oz was an amazing movie that kids will watch for years to come ! I feel sorry for everything Judy went thru in the success of her career . There will never be another singer like her !❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
1:30:32 When Sid told Judy her mom died of a heart attack I think she was glad because of all the bad treatment that she gave to Judy.
I don’t think she was half just puzzled
Nah, I think she felt something but not grief.
I feel for Judy at times but there is no doubt she had a tendency to be extremely self absorbed.
true but look at her mother…
Waxman was great as Louis B. Mayer!👍
Thoroughly brilliant biopic, thanks for posting it.
Sad when her dad passed away she was so close to her dad n mom could care less.
Well to be fair to her, her husband was unfaithful, so she had reason not to care inordinately for him.
"You're supposed to be taking care of me ... what have you done with the money?"
should be the epitaph on her tombstone.
While filming the "I Got Rhythm" sequence for Girl Crazy, she is continually being reprimanded by the director, the no-nonsense Busby Berkeley, over not putting enough energy into her performance. 42:46
Thank you so so much for having this high quality full film available!! I have loved Wizard of Oz since birth and as I grew up fell in love with Judy and her journey. I remember being 14 and my dad letting me tape this on one of our extra VHS tapes and I watched it so many times I burned the tape eventually. Thank you again for this.
This film get no credit, its beautifully cast and well done in every way start to finish.
This *TV movie* -- originally *broadcast in two parts* on *ABC* in *February 2001* -- received a *ton of praise* when it was released and was nominated for *13 Emmys,* including *Best Miniseries.*
It won for *Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries* (Judy Davis), *Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries* (Tammy Blanchard), *Best Costumes,* *Best Hairstyling,* and *Best Makeup.*
Many at the time felt that it should have been released theatrically.
I must of missed this miniseries back then so thanks for posting it. It's really very good. Sad, of course, but good.
Damn she is good!!! This actress is amazing!!!! She even sounds like Judy Garland!
I think their using her real voice
Davis is lipsyncing to Garland recordings.
If this were a theatre movie, she would have won the oscar for sure. It was cable, so at least she DID get the golden globe for best actress in a drama. Judy Davis is one of my favorite actresses. I've just always wondered why she doesn't get enough work.
The best biographical film!
One of my fave movies in addition to Judy’s! Thank u for posting!
Thank you for uploading this! I saw a video of this on tiktok and tried to find the original biopic 🤩
Why did they switch actresses? The girl who played the Young Judy Garland is such a great job. They could’ve allowed her to continue in that role, they should have allowed her to continue in that role.
It ALWAYS bothered me that these studios played Judy and Shirley like they were pawns in their game of chess.
They actually did was very sad Shirley took them out from going bankrupt after that they were done with her Judy the same
Beautiful film in memory of a beautiful woman
Quite simply the best Judy one in a million
Judy was treated so shitty by everyone- used and abused!
I saw it on TV now I'll watch it here again.
I remember in one of Judy garlands unfinished book she said her mother is the true wicked witch of the west how heart breaking yet I don't blame her they all saw Judy as just a walking money making machine
What is the title of the book please.
There were times Judy was more forgiving to her mother and talked about the difficulty she had operating in a male-dominated world. She said her mother mainly wanted to be her own person and be allowed to take charge.
R.I.P To A Beautiful Gorgeous Woman Judy Garland, Still Miss You, Always
She really does look like Judy, wow. And if I may say so, Judy was even more gorgeous, so sweet and bright, such a shining star.
