- You might not know their names, but you do know the songs of Robert and Richard Sherman. One of the most prolific songwriting duos of all time, the brothers penned Disney classics like "It's a Small World" and music for "Mary Poppins." Nancy Giles reports.
Their songs make my eyes water with nostalgia. I could hardly see the screen when their songs showed up in Saving Mr. Banks.
omg, that movie kills me. just watched a different video where the sherman brothers talked about “tuppence”….😭😭😭
And he’s still with us at 92 ❤️ what a wonderful man.
And he's still with us at 95 now in 2024
Thank you Richard and Robert Sherman for writing such beautiful and memorable songs for Disney, also thank you for making my childhood awesome with all those songs. R.I.P. Robert Sherman
what truly talented men.
I really want to meet Richard Sherman someday.
Amen
@Disney's Little Einsteins Fan have you yet?
Legends RIP Robert
Thank you, Richard and Robert Sherman for writing such wonderful songs for all of us to sing.
*P.S.* Mr. Richard, you HAVE to collaborate with Alan Menken on a future Disney project.
Tragically, Menken is quite busy with live-action remakes. But Sherman may return to Disney animation, after all, Richard is Busy Doing Nothing.
@@juanrisa945 Perhaps Jim Steinman could substitute for Menken.
@@juanrisa945”Tragically” is a bit much.
No over emoting, just fantastic songwriting. A modest and good humoured genius.
Legends.
Watching this in 2023 just after the 100th anniversary of the company, and feeling grateful for the magic of the Sherman Brothers and their music.
They used such simple materials in terms of melody and harmony but somehow created deeply satisfying songs.
The Sherman brothers not only worked for Disney they also worked for United Artist Pictures for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
They also worked on one of the Peanuts cartoons, Snoopy Come home.
Also Charlottes web! The cartoon that is 😊
Do you remember that 1973 movie musical version of Tom Sawyer? They wrote that, too. They also wrote the script.
Love the brothers' music ever since I was little. Not just "Mary Poppins" but other films like "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" as well. They were such a duo!
People say that Alan Menken wrote the soundtrack to their childhood but the Sherman brothers wrote the soundtrack to mine because of Winnie The Pooh (my childhood)
The song "Tiki Room" will be stuck in your head for life. I'm pretty sure I'll be humming it in heaven 1,000 years from now.
I feel like richard is all we have as part of the Walt team. God bless him! And RIP Robert 😭💔
The sherman brothers there are talented man and also disney mary poppins the best musical ever I love it ❤
Love the Sherman brothers x brilliant music. They played my favourite music from my favourite movies
What will it be like if they created songs for "An American Tail", "Barney", "Madeline", "Sesame Street" and "Kids for Character"? That would've been fun in my opinion.
Both brothers were talented but together they became legends. What a contribution they made to the world. Such joy to us all they brought. It's ok they were not each others best friends. We love them both. God bless the Sherman brothers.
Richard m sherman he is best disney songwriter ever it was incredible man
"A Frenzied ping pong game."
Wonderful!
I could have seen Richard Sherman in real life.
The Sherman Brothers are truly one of the greatest songwriting teams of all time.
Truly The Sherman Brothers are simply the BEST song writers ever!!!
Irving Berlin, and Richard Rogers would like a word.
mooore! I want more!!! :D
I remember these 2 men. My favorite disney movies that they wrote the music for are Mary Poppins, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Jungle Book, Summer Magic and The Aristocats. At the end of the movie Christopher Robin, people can see Richard Sherman in there.
What will it be like if they were two of the main songwriters of "An American Tail" alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice? That could've been splendid in my opinion.
Cool!
He reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones!!
Why bother asking a question, if you're then going to answer it yourself anyway? Asks him what song fits Robert's personality then picks one for him. I see this happening with reporters much too often lately especially on shows like Dateline or 20/20 where the reporter is always putting words into their subjects' mouths and not letting them answer on their own.
My thoughts exactly
Didn't Robert Sherman later work for Goodson/Todman in game shows like Tattletales and Body Language?
I never heard that
Hum diddelidlidly um de eye hum diddelidlidly um de eye
Why is she dressed so very casually to interview one of the greatest song writers of all time. My dear, you are awkwardly and wrongly dressed for this situation.
Richard was way more talented than Robert
F u Robert doesn’t get enough credit for his songs
Comparing the brothers, is akin to telling Apple-Lovers, that Oranges are better..... They created, together---in complete complement....
Both were talented but together they were legends. God bless them both.
