Walt Disney was a great man. He pioneered animation and the technology behind it. We lost a great man when he died. Unfortunately Walt didn't pass on his innovative attitude to the rest of the company and it became bloated after he died.
He was also in involved in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, since one of the shorts Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was released in his lifetime and was involved in production of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day
You just don't get that personal feeling anymore like the way Walt did... So sad... You can tell that Walt LOVED what he did and how everyone that was watching his films or visiting his parks were like family... Something that is so long gone in today's society...
There was a story of Walt visiting the park and playing with the whistle on the Mark Twain so much that the crew had to ask him to stop because they'd run out of steam. He was a one of a kind.
@@arielruh7773 he wouldnt have liked the idea of rehashing but I have to say they are very high quality movies and even if it's just nostalgia talking(which its not) they stand out to me as the best stuff they've done in years. But that's mostly cause they haven't done much outside of Pixar
Walt Disney was an absolutely wonderful person with the biggest, and kindest heart, if only people knew the risks of smoking then what we thankfully do today, Disney had lung cancer from smoking, a young 65 I know people in perfect health at 95, life expectancy if a person takes really good care of themselves is increasing dramatically which is very positive. Health is true wealth.
Actually, the potential risks of smoking were common knowledge years before. It wasn't until the 1966 that the government started requiring warnings on packs of cigarettes. But, that occurred long after the risk became known. I remember hearing reports about the risks of smoking in the late 50s. My dad, a physician, used to bring home articles on the subject in an effort to convince my mother (a very light smoker) and her mother (a heavy smoker) to quit. My mom did, but my grandmother didn't. And it is true that the tobacco companies had been long aware of the hazards, and had been fighting the labeling required for years before they were mandated. They still continue to deny that cigarettes are addictive or unhealthy.l Notwithstanding the well documented risk of smoking, people still smoke, and kids are starting up daily. When you are young, you feel invincible and refuse to believe that smoking is harmful. That's why the tobacco companies like to start them young. Smoking is such an addictive habit, that it is unlikely that a heavy smoker like Disney would have stopped. It also bring to mind Johnny Carson who, while fully aware of the risks, continued to smoke ... ultimately dying from emphysema.
Actually 20% of people who get lung cancer never smoked. So really smoking isn't the main cause. My Grandfatherwas 100 when he died.He smoked and drank at parties.
@@JoIsAwesome my pointwas NOT everyone who's smoked gets lung cancer. My Grandfather was 100 day shy from 101 when he died. He smoked everyday. My Mom was the oldest living woman in her mothers side She was 73 when she died she smoked. Died of brain cancer. I'm NOT saying smoke but if you do you do. Other things kill people TOO are you going stop thoughs things too?
@@austinklein1172 Smoking is way too demonized and that's a big problem, becuase kids that start to smoke believe that the parents are just exaggerating the risk, which is actually kind of true... I never smoked in my life, but my parents never demonized smoke for me, they just told me that smoking was bad for me, kind of like not eating vegetables is bad. I believed them and growing up I did my research about smoking and decided I would never smoke. But I believe that a few cigarettes here and then aren't as bad as they say they are.
I can just imagine a note Walt's teacher might have sent to Walt's mother: "Dear Mrs. Disney, your son doesn't pay attention in class and spends all his class time drawing pictures of mice. He will never amount to anything!"
Walt accomplished more in his short life than a million average people combined. What a boring world we would be living in, without him. He brought people and ideas together, and saw more potential in everyone than they knew they had within them.
I've said it before and I will say it again Walt was a great man who deserves his legendary status and the respect of young and old Disney fans a like.
This year in December, it'll be his 115th birthday AND 50th anniversary of his death. I'm going to Disneyland this month :) I've been feeling Disney fever lately. If only they would revitalize Mickey Mouse and his gang for Disney channel instead of stupid bullshit oh the tv. He's due for another movie already!
What's weirder is that the person you see here and his iconic personality is for the most part an act. Walt was a very introverted, shy and sadly self-depricating man with self-esteem issues. Since he was Walt goddamn Disney though, he built a far more outgoing persona for his public appearances. May also explain why he smoked his entire life which was eventually what killed him. The man himself identified as two people; Walter Disney the shy businessman and Walt Disney the outgoing caring tycoon. Very kind man though even with his more negative traits. Not a man to give much praise beyond "that'll do" but very generous with raises.
Why do I feel sick watching this? We remember Walt Disney and the country America was back then. But seeing those punky, shallow newcomers who you know are only interested in a paycheck turns your stomach. Nothing is like it was when the Grand Old Man was around, and he would be upset to see how outrageously expensive it is for common people to get into his parks and how they're treated like cattle.
Not when the cast members actually act like they appreciate my jokes. Just got back from DW last week. I spontaneously said to a woman selling fans, that those fans are --- cool. She replied, "Very punny, mister." I was also on the wrong side of a white line and a cast member pointed out that I needed to be on the other side of the line. I said that I noticed the line and thought there was a 50/50 chance I was supposed to be on the side I was on - guess I was wrong. She laughed. In Sleeping Beauty's Castle a cast member was telling someone they had to go to a bibbity bobbity room or something. I stopped and said the bibbitity bibboity bobbity ...? She tried to help me, bibbity bobbity - I interrupted, you mean the bibbitity bobbitity bibbity bibbity bibbity... oh... She then finished what I was trying to say. I finally just said, "easy for you to say" - she laughed. Was fun to play along with them. Hope they appreciated some of my humor as well. One of the few theme parks anymore where you can still bring in your own food and drinks (little known fact - just let security know!). My 2.5 yr old who was clueless to many of the characters (no longer!) loved it. I think Disney would love the current state of Disneyworld, at least the Magic Kingdom which is best for my child's age from what I have heard. Now the TSA at Orlando -- don't get my started on THEIR attitudes!
Rob Milliken the only thing he wouldn't be proud of would be Epcot and the lack of the airport of the future because they were supposed to combine to make a utopian society of sorts
Yes. That would be cool - I think the need for a profit has something to do with that - not sure if a utopian society would work with that in mind. It reminds me a bit of the Venus Project idea; especially the architecture. Now an airport I have not heard of, but as long as they'd have friendlier TSA agents, I'd be okay with it!
I was born in Southern California in 1965. I grew up watching the wonderful world of Disney every Sunday night and watching Walt Disney talk about different subjects. As far as I knew he was alive. I went to a Catholic school for a few years when I was in fifth grade so that would be around 1975. At the time we went to a field trip at Forest lawn cemetery to see the stain glass window of the last supper. Some friends of mine and myself ventured outside and poked around and looked at some other graves and I stumbled across Walt Disney’s grave. I was actually very surprised that he was deceased. but found out later that he was and had been for most of my life. I guess that’s the magic.
I am not sure if it's just Walt, or just the way things were done back then, but I love how much personalisation went into the annoucement of a new film. It's almost like a teacher telling children of a new fun lessen, or a business owner informing his staff over a new change that he is excited about. There is so much passion and pride when he speaks of his film project. It is completely contagious, and you are excited along with him. His heart and soul was in everything he did.
I miss Walt I just watched a video about his tour and the song in the background made me cry we miss you buddy you made this for kids which was a amazing and grow ups to its just so sweet his such a sweet heart we miss you
Another thing to be noted in his time of all the work done, knowing showbiz your are as good as you last productions in it's returns, whatever stresses of bussiness they were going through both brothers, let's not forget Mr Roy's contribution to keep everything afloat, not even once quality and standard of work dropped, nor the sense of fun enjoying the work of his creations they way he did.
Thanks for sharing that groovy memory ! Drove a Mercedes, eh ? He was always a snappy dresser and clearly he liked to drive snappy cars ! And he could afford it...good for him !! :-)
I recall the occasion when I learned that Walt Disney had died; I was a ten year old in the schoolyard of a Burbank school (Disney died in St. Joseph's Hospital, a few miles down Buena Vista St. - my father died there seventeen years later). A teacher had told us. I recall feeling bereft - the man who was behind Disneyland, one of my favorite places in the world? I said something about how sad it was, and a kid said, "Whattaya gonna do - cry?" I recall thinking, "Hasn't this kid ever been to Disneyland?"
I was ten years old too in Dec. of 1966 when Walt passed away. I remember seeing it on the TV news and reading his obit on the front page of our local paper. I didn't get to go down to Orange County and visit Disneyland for the first time until 1974. Visited it again in the mid-90s. Fun & fascinating place !!
Everyone is talking about how they wonder if Walt would be disappointed with how Disney is now but what lead me to find this video is actually the opposite. I can't help what Walt would think about how big Disney has become. It grew greatly in his time but it has become even greater. Disney resonates deep within in so many of us, I wonder what he would think of generations being Disney lovers. Many of us ( I know not all) are taken back and in a moment of awe when we hear the old Disney songs. We feel warm and happy thinking about it. Even if there are things that he may not agree with I imagine he'd be in more amazement of what "Disney" has accomplished.
He might be happy with the influence the company has had on society, the footprint he left, but I doubt he'd be happy with the vast and unjustifiable consumerist hell (not that I dislike consumerism or capitalism inherently) he indirectly created. Former employees talk shit on the company all the time. At least they value safety and relative quality in their films.
I don't know what type of person Walt was but he had an admirable magical vision. It stands strong today. All the movies he actually had a hand in making are still fun to watch.
+GoldenEye 0010 he was NOT racist. his black employee even said he wasnt. a lot of people in that time did use the n word. he didn't treat people like dirt because of their skin colour. why the hell would he get an ethnic minority to work for him? idiot
Walt, thank you for being such a huge part of mine (and so many others') childhoods. Even as an adult pushing 50, your films are still on my watch list. And I still can't get enough of Disneyland & Disney World. Thank you Walt, for bringing so much happiness to the world.
The Man himself......What vision, it's What being a legend is all about. Now he's immortalized in his film's and on the internet...I've Always wondered what he would've thought about modern time's.
This last appearance breaks my heart in two. I don't think anyone expected to lose Walt after this appearance but then again it was obvious. You can literally hear how he's struggling to breathe which makes it worse. God I sat and cried through this whole video because it hurts to watch knowing that it was his last, it really does. Walt had his flaws, we all do, but my God he had talent in spades. He will always be the G.O.A.T of anything related to art and animation. May he rest in peace. ❤
I remember when he passed away and we we got out of school early and my bus driver cried the whole time. He was a great man and going to see a Disney movie wasn't an outing - it was an event that was highly anticipated. Based on what I have heard him say the reason he wanted his best films released only every seven years was so that the quality would not diminish and that person would see the same picture differently as they got older and appreciate it more. I believe he was right because now that everything is mass marketed it gets old quickly. The same concept made Elvis so famous because he didn't do talk shows & wasn"t constantly seen in public which made the mystery of him more appealing. I would love to see the Disney classics back on the big screen again!
Walt Disney wanted to make a movie from the Hans Christian Andersons story the snow queen. Also known today as frozen, it took them 75 years to make that dream come true. Honestly I think he would like it. I know why you guys he's wouldn't, it's new, it's not like the original disney movies but honestly Walt Disney was all about new ways of storytelling.
Mary Dewitt Theres nothing new or groundbreaking about the storytelling in Frozen. Its also one of the most overrated movies i've seen in recent years.
Hugh Egg Most of Disney's older films weren't that groundbreaking aside from the animation anyways. The story's were always simple (nothing wrong with that)
It is so sad that the Walt Disney Company has decided to remove "WALT'S name from the classic WALT DISNEY PICTURES studio. it is now simply "DISNEY". Disney CEO Bob Iger said the following in an interview with The Harvard Law Review re-quoted in the New York Times... “The baggage of tradition,” he says of Disney’s culture, “can slow you down. I’m not going to eliminate that,” he added, “but I’d like to reduce it significantly.”
When he said "his name is Kurt Russell" I was like WHAT?!!! No freakin way! And Walt straight up predicted he would have a great acting career 😂 amazing
Still remember the day when Walts death was announced in my third grade classroom. Thank you WD for what you gave us. I take my family to Disneyland at least once a year and stay about a week.
Wow! This looks really great for 1966! The music, the color, those two guys' clothing. Everything looks so modern--except for the footage of Walt Disney.
I'm homeschooled and my mom wants me to do a book report on somebody. I immediately chose Walt. I searched this up to see what he sounded like. I watched a movie about him. I'm reading about him. Man, I wish that I could've met him.
Walt, you are my idol. This is beyond heartbreaking for me, you are a legend and always will be. I wish you were still here with us but I am glad you are now in a happier place now and you will be watching over Disney everyday. We love you!
Two weeks after filming this, Disney learned he had terminal lung cancer. A month after that he was dead. The last thing he wrote on his deathbed was "Kurt Russell". No one knows what he meant by that, including Russell.
+Kyra Renee The Happiest Millionaire apparently was the last live-action film whose production he supervised, while The Jungle Book was the last animated film he oversaw.
I watched it for the first time just a few weeks ago on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) during a salute to Disney films. Leonard Maltin was the host. He said it was one of Walt's few flops. I can see why....it was WAY too long at three hours. it was a period piece (set in 1914), so the budget was tremendous. And it had too many songs...none of them memorable. They seem to break into song about every 15 min or so. But it had truly xlnt performances by a very talented cast....especially Tommy Steele, Lesley Ann Downs and Fred MacMurray.
@@CCRoxtar You are right....Walt also supervised one other life action film that was not finished before his passing: "Blackbeard's Ghost", which starred Peter Ustinov and Dean Jones. Filming had been finished on "The Happiest Milliionaire" before Walt died....but it was in post production at the time of his passing & was not released to theaters till the following yr (1967). The "Blackbeard" flick didn't get released till '68.
The Disney Company it's that, but.. Now, think in all your memories, those times when you were sad and Mickey made you smile, the times when you believe that "Dreams come true", when everything whats about a happy song. My friend, that's his legacy, your childhood, my childhood, millions of happy childhoods.

Walt Disney was a great man. He pioneered animation and the technology behind it. We lost a great man when he died. Unfortunately Walt didn't pass on his innovative attitude to the rest of the company and it became bloated after he died.
It's too bad Walt didn't have a protege.
He was right about Kurt Russell.
George Alexander What do you mean
that was pretty cool when he said that.
Westside of Corpus Christi he said Russell had talent and Russell is one of the most famous actors in history now
I was scrolling to see if someone noticed that. Curiously enough, Russell was later cast in The Fox and the Hound.
George Alexander with Kurt Russell playing in one of the marvel movies, kind of seems fitting.
Walt Disney is a type of person I want to be. He tells the best stories and brings them to life.
***** Oh
KingFoofy But he made the Disney films
same to you pal.
+KingFoofy that's a common myth.
+KingFoofy yeah he did. He campaigned for the lead actor to win an Oscar for his performance in the film. And guess what? He was African American.
"The Jungle Book" was the last animated feature that Walt himself was in charge of.
He was also in involved in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, since one of the shorts Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was released in his lifetime and was involved in production of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day
He was sadly never even able to see it in it's entirety because it released in '67
he never was officially involved in it but the last film he signed off on was the aristocats
The last Live action films Walt Disney had personal supervision were “Blackbeard’s Ghost” and “The Happiest Millionaire”.
He was a one of a kind.
walt would hate these new sitcoms.
He would also hate the live action remakes of his cartoons.
@@freddiemercury4860 I know right they should have more ideas instead of milking Walt's movies dry
@@arielruh7773 he wouldnt have liked the idea of rehashing but I have to say they are very high quality movies and even if it's just nostalgia talking(which its not) they stand out to me as the best stuff they've done in years. But that's mostly cause they haven't done much outside of Pixar
He would have also hated the live versions of his movies..leave the classics alone
He would also hate that Disney buying company
They still continue to deny that cigarettes are addictive or unhealthy.l
Notwithstanding the well documented risk of smoking, people still smoke, and kids are starting up daily.
@@austinklein1172 ...so then 80% of lung cancer patients have smoked in their lives, that sounds like a main cause to me, even if there are exceptions
😂😂😂😂😂😂 well you guess it right. Disney wasn't a good student and used to draw animals, especially mice, every time and anywhere. So...
Just like how everybody used to laugh at Mario's inventor because he used to run around killing turtles with a hammer.

Such An Amazing Remarkable Man that had lived. Walt Disney (1901-1966)
Walt accomplished more in his short life than a million average people combined. What a boring world we would be living in, without him. He brought people and ideas together, and saw more potential in everyone than they knew they had within them.
2:55 is when you actually see Walt.
Damn. On top of everything else he did in his life - he predicted the Hollywood success of Kurt Russell.
Nick Jasper I know that came out of nowhere! Haha Walt was amazing
Wow that's amazing, you get a gold star
@@-sdot83 do you mail it? Or... what? How do I get it? Thanks!
I'm crying so much watching this it's so sad that he's no longer here
R.I.P Walt Disney. Thanks for being an Animation Legend and for your awesome Characters. Thanks for Peter Pan (1953)
I've said it before and I will say it again Walt was a great man who deserves his legendary status and the respect of young and old Disney fans a like.
Tom Hanks was an uncanny Disney in SAVING MR. BANKS, about the making of MARY POPPINS. (And Emma Thompson was uncanny as PL Travers.)
49 years since Walt Disney passed away.
+Rohan Padiyar And the next time (after this post) Dec 15 comes, it will be 50 years.
+Collins Crapo Yes but after that who KNOWS how many years it will be. Could be any amount, 14, 78.
Rohan Padiyar yup from Lung Cancer
Its 2018 now haa..... time flies by really fast
Even though you can hear him really struggling to breathe, he still had a way of making you hang on his every word. It's like magic...
Well said and well put ! He had an excellent speaking voice !
We remember Walt Disney
and the country America was back then. But seeing those
punky, shallow newcomers who you know are only interested
in a paycheck turns your stomach. Nothing is like it was
when the Grand Old Man was around, and he would be upset
to see how outrageously expensive it is for common people
to get into his parks and how they're treated like cattle.
I 100% disagree. People in the Disney parks aren't treated like cattle - they're treated like guests and friends.
Not when the cast members actually act like they appreciate my jokes. Just got back from DW last week. I spontaneously said to a woman selling fans, that those fans are --- cool. She replied, "Very punny, mister."
I was also on the wrong side of a white line and a cast member pointed out that I needed to be on the other side of the line.
GooglFascists well with inflation Disneyland was 75-80 dollars in today's money, so it's only like 20-40 dollars off from what it was.
Keep moving forward. ~Walter Elias Disney
His heart and soul was in everything he did.
did anybody else cry?
I did cry
who wishes that Walt Disney is still alive
O yeah. But the Man is not eterned
I wish I had a chance to meet him. But he died three decades before I was born.
None of this magic would have existed without this guy. RIP the legend
R.I.P. Walt Disney we miss you.
Wow, he mentioned Kurt Russel on is last recording. He surely blessed him.
That's cool, you can see the similarities of the "Disney logo font" and his handwriting in the script.
Nick Akers ... seriously... 😂
He was gone long before i was born but i still miss Walt so much... he was an amazing man..
Prior to his death I saw him driving down Ventura Blvd. in Encino, Ca. in his Mercedes Benz 280.
"Prior" to his death you say? Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)
Oh my God. You're serious.

My hero 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Dude, that pic! 😂
2:54 for the actual footage
Thank you good sir.
Rest In Peace Mr. Disney you left this world too soon
I love this. Thanks for posting. Walt Disney was a genius. He was taken way too soon.
God bless Walt Disney.
I love how close he was to his public, he loved his job
The fact that he mentioned Kurt Russell and said that he was gonna be a great actor in the future is crazy
I don't know what type of person Walt was but he had an admirable magical vision. It stands strong today. All the movies he actually had a hand in making are still fun to watch.

Walt, thank you for being such a huge part of mine (and so many others') childhoods. Even as an adult pushing 50, your films are still on my watch list. And I still can't get enough of Disneyland & Disney World. Thank you Walt, for bringing so much happiness to the world.

I think my heart just died of happiness
This last appearance breaks my heart in two. I don't think anyone expected to lose Walt after this appearance but then again it was obvious. You can literally hear how he's struggling to breathe which makes it worse. God I sat and cried through this whole video because it hurts to watch knowing that it was his last, it really does. Walt had his flaws, we all do, but my God he had talent in spades. He will always be the G.O.A.T of anything related to art and animation. May he rest in peace. ❤

Today's the 55th anniversary of Walt Disney's passing. Without him, we would've live a world as we know today. RIP Walt.
Only one wish: "I wish fo the next Walt disney to run disney" Disney today sucks they need someone as awesome as Walt.
WALT WILL ALWAYS BE A LEGEND.
Rest up n peace Walt Disney
The story's were always simple (nothing wrong with that)
@@hugheggs I don't like the music.
I mean, compare to the Sherman brothers in Mary Poppins..? Yeah. They all sound like the same song now.
2018. Wish Walt was still with us.

Two weeks after filming this, Disney learned he had terminal lung cancer. A month after that he was dead. The last thing he wrote on his deathbed was "Kurt Russell". No one knows what he meant by that, including Russell.
Walt was referring to future projects and one of the actors included being Kurt Russell, Kurt himself confirmed this on the View.

Now it made me want to watch the movie he was talking about, the Happiest Millionaire. ;)

Disney was a truly influential figure for mankind until the very final days. History is simply amazing.
