Honestly I was disappointed you didn't put a stinger back on Jawbreaker. That muffler sounds real good I'm surprised!! Which muffler is it and what filter is that you are using also?
Keep up the great work brother!!
VeeDub P8 I wanted to put the dual stingers back on however it would require a ton of modifications to make it works since I couldn’t use the same header as before. I had to step up to a larger merged header for this engine. I do miss the stingers but this is the Thrush welded 2 chamber muffler from the local auto parts store.... was like $35 or something. It has a great rumble to it that’s for sure.
The oil filter I’m using is the Mann brand with the bypass inside. Seems to be holding up well.
I guess it's kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to stream new series online ?
@Dante Billy i watch on flixzone. You can find it on google :)
Love how everything is nice and clean. Looks great man. Love the ride clip. No way man. Thats great video.
JN performance thank you, it’s definitely been a labor of love lately 😂
Once it gets some more miles on her and the tune gets better it should really haul the mail.
That is one mean sounding Vdub. Great job! Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!!
Jim Lester thanks you, it’s a nice improvement over the old engine.
Cool! It's back on the road! Congrats.
Vintage Speed VW yes it is but that was the 1915.... 😂 Shoot me a text when you have time.
Huh. Didn't know that about the yellow teflon tape. Said it before, I always learn something from your videos. Thanks VWJawbreaker!
Haptic Garage yes sir, learned that several years ago about the Teflon tape. As long as we all learn something from the videos, that’s a win!
I didn't know about the yellow teflon either! always nice to learn something new!
Mileage Unknown we all learn something new, that’s the purpose of our videos besides keeping in touch.
Great info! Sounds good!!!!
Sounds very good.. Shes movin ! 👍
VW RICH FLAT4 she’s scooting down the road 👍
Sound slike a beast! Nice job man! =)
CT thanks man. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Wealth of knowledge bro. Thanks for sharing. Crazy to think 3 years ago fuel was 2.32$
Don’t know about the wealth of knowledge but appreciate it.
Crazy to think how much cheaper things were in general 3 years ago.
Olá Jaw muito legal seus vídeos gostei muito do seu fusquinha, tenho um 86, estou fazendo um motor 1.7! ☺
Rad. Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching 👍
POW! I thought you did that on purpose like I do... haha!
DuckmanCycles and VW Garage still tuning it in, think it might still be a tad lean here and there..... I’ll shoot ya a message soon.
No more electrical, I'm having nightmares from it( lol). Great tip to mention ( yellow) tape for oil and gas. I wounldnt of thought to mention it. Things we take for granted that all.lnow. Engine sounds good. Now you can keep up with traffic with a 1915. Stay dry, my friend. Enjoy
Volkswagenplanet stay warm and dry buddy. Merry Christmas.
@@VWJawbreaker MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. EVEN VINNY
Good job
JC Quick you spoke too quickly but thank you. Think my luck ran out. I’ll catch up with you soon.
Awesome car✌️
Thank you! 🙏
Gary, being that we are in roughly the same local area, and watching a ton of your videos I'd definitely like to link up. Not sure if you attend car shows ect. I just completed my 2180 stroker and your videos have helped in a lot of questions ect.
I’m glad to hear the videos have helped you along. I also appreciate the support and comments as we all have different things to bring to the table.
Shoot me an email sometime and we’ll figure something out 🤙
That sounds so good. Santa maybe bringing us an oil temp sensor and a new tach for Christmas so we will be doing something very similar.
2 Guys and a Bug sounds good man, sometimes ignorance is bliss.... add too many gauges it can make you crazy honestly. A tach is definitely beneficial imo. Have a Merry Christmas!
@@VWJawbreaker too much information as not always a good thing for sure. Merry Christmas to you as well.
Wow she sounds spectacular!!! Dang!! How’s she feel? Pull hard??? I just put a set of Weber 40 IDFS Italian on the classifieds, maybe I should keep them lol
Slades VW Beetle she pulls and runs really well for not quite being fully tuned yet. More is happening as I’ve never claimed to be a know it all, just sharing my experience.
I’ll try to get a new video out Wednesday.
VWJawbreaker You should give yourself more credit! I’ve learned from watching you put your engine together!! I’m very happy it’s all coming together!!
Slades VW Beetle thanks brother.
VWJawbreaker Absolutely brother, I was just being honest. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas just in case I don’t talk with you by then.
Afternoon for me lol :)
DuckmanCycles and VW Garage slacker! 🤪
Say you weren't running an aftermarket oil filter - would you be able to just run an adapter to 13/16 (21mm) and install it in the main drain plug in the sump plate? I can't see why not but I've never seen anybody do it.
They make a oil sump plug sender that would work.
interesting information. New friend
Pople BackyardFarm I’m glad you found it interesting. Thank you for watching.
Where did you purchase the brass “T” adapter and sending unit from?
Sending unit came with the oil pressure gauge. Brass fittings can be bought at a local hardware store or amazon.
What did you do for a oil pump, remote pump, and cooler. Did ya drill and plug and what did ya drill and plug. Got a 73 super and looking for any help.
CB sells oil pumps with an in and out if your existing engine case isn’t drilled and tapped for an external oil system.
Hi Gary, Im working on restoring a bug and a guy doing the engine is telling me that dual carbs will cause the engine to overheat all the time. I live in Maryland, so temps are usually low 90s in the summer. I dont see why having 2 carbs would cause overheating, unless they are running super rich. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If the engine guy is telling you that, I question what other nonsense he’s told people. Maybe it’s that he doesn’t want to deal with dual carbs. Dual carbs will in fact not make your engine run hotter, if it did it would be running way too lean or way too rich. If the jetting is in the ballpark, it will run better and more efficient than a single stock carb.
@@VWJawbreaker thanks!
Hey man Kevin here from Australia. What was your final operating temperature running from your oil filter. I'm just doing the exact same install today.
✌ Peace man
Kevin Hamling hey man, we’re not into summer yet but the max temp I’ve seen this far, in traffic on a 85 degree day has been 210 oil temp. I use a laser thermometer to hit some spots on the case to see what the case temp is also.
JB, hey, I'm running a mildly built 1776 in my bus, no hot rodding, just a traveller. Wondering what the most important guages are for engine status: oil pres, oil temp, cyl head temp, voltage...? Rock on.
how on earth did you thread those bronze ell fittings into the filter block? didn't the second one foul against the first?
Figment078 nope. The sender is insulated by the factory.
@@VWJawbreaker ?? no I'm talking about the inlet and outlet fittings that were on the filter housing before you even started the temp sender install.
Figment078 the housing and the elbows are 3/8” ntp, they went together and they didn’t have any issues with flow.
Does that button say "FIRE MISSILES"..? I need that on my quicksilver!
Good eye, yes it does! Picked it up off Amazon I think.
Where did you get the kit from?
Amazon. Local auto parts stores should carry them as well.
What about cyclinder head temperature?
Mike Overturf excellent question. Unfortunately these big heads don’t have the provision to mount a cylinder head temp sensor. I might look into adding a different style sender down the road.
Hopefully soon I will have an air fuel meter installed.
Interesting that you put the oil temp sender in the filter outlet and not the inlet. I would think you would want the to know the temperature of the oil coming out of the engine. My thinking is once the oil has passed through the filter it would be getting cooled off due to the placement of your oil filter in the wheel well. But I'm sure you have your reasons for this. I'm still pondering the noise you are getting from the pulley this is not something I've personally encountered.
Volkswagen Fetish I used my laser temp gun and there isn’t much of a difference between the inlet and outlet temps, thus choosing the one closest to the inner fender. It would be easy enough to swap around.
That was also the first time that I really punched it. Been taking it easier than normal.
@@VWJawbreaker I think you would need better data than the external temperature of the unit as read from an IR temperature gun. Please don't get me wrong the IR is a fine tool for a quick how's my case temp I use mine all the time for this. But I would not trust it to tell me the temperature of a flowing liquid inside of the system.
Food for thought If you had a sender on the oil output closest to the engine case and another one at the output of the filter in the wheel well where is is shielded form the heat of the engine and getting air circulating around the filter while moving at cruising speed. Would it not be a safe to theorize that you would see a significant temperature difference in the oil in this situation?
I have no proof to back any of this up and I might be totally incorrect it's just how I see things in relation to what you have done and the information you are hoping to receive from this project.
@@VWJawbreaker I can respect that, I never really take it so much to say easy on a freshly built engine. Once the cam is broken in and the break in oil is removed I drive it as I would any other day. If you get 50-70K miles out of a big engine your doing well they run hot and larger pistons and cams with wild lobes wear quicker than stock. I don't feel like babying it is going to add that much more life to the engine. IMHO its all about the care and feeding you give it along the way that ensures a long happy life.
Volkswagen Fetish I wondered about the temp difference as well, I wanted to measure oil temp as best as I could without the heat from the exhaust, etc affecting the reading. Yes it might be a few degrees cooler in the wheel well and I’ve been using the ir temp gun as a reference, not exact set in stone data. If I put the sender at the oil pump output it would hit the header so that’s why I chose the wheel well. Limited clearance and a lot of reading on the samba led me to put the sender where it is.
You’re always my voice of reason, your thoughts and experience is like my gospel.
Can it be installed on a std motor?
There are other sensors out there that will work for an engine that isn’t full flowed for remote oil filter.
However those sensors are not as accurate due to they are not in line with the passing oil.
@@VWJawbreaker i understand. As my bug is a daily. Thank you. 😁
Your clutch is done...
Stock clutch couldn’t handle the new engine.
Why not run it with the factory harness it would have only been a few minutes longer time wise
That’s just the route I took at the time.
I don't understand why do oil temperature gauges are all in Farenheit?????? They must be all in Celcius 😠😠, that Farenheit looks weird.
Miguel Ángel Valderrama I understand your frustration, I felt the same way when I use to have other gauges all in Celsius.
