    Ozzie and Fizz aren't upset about the song ,they're upset about it being performed at the club which is all about lust not love. They even tell him he's "killing the vibe" in other words he's bringing the club energy down. And embodiments of sins feed on their sins.

    I think Moxie specifying it's their marriage anniversary is a subtle way for the writers to hint that Moxxie is the kind of ultra romantic dork who celebrates the anniversaries of lots of firsts with Millie.

    27:23 blitzø hates himself too much to think that anyone let alone a demon prince could live him

  • @Heronblade86
    @Heronblade86 Місяць тому +20

    Remember that as pointed out in e6 and hinted elsewhere, Blitz can't fathom proper intimacy and sees himself as the prince's plaything rather than a lover. The idea that Stolas actually loves him feels like a lie, so being reached out to that way just hurts. Watch his body language as Stolas talks.

    • @fallingstar9643
      @fallingstar9643 Місяць тому +5

      Also note that Blitz is fairly neutral while Stolas suggests talking or watching a movie... but the moment Stolas suggests cuddling, that triggers Blitz; because while Stolas' mind that's a step down from their usual activities, in Blitz's mind cuddling leads to fucking, and so it feels like Stolas is just trying to coerce him. The animators actually do a very good job of portraying those nuanced emotions.

    I think something that people need to recognise about Blitzo is that all of his behaviour, at all times but especially in this episode, comes from a fundamental belief in his own worthlessness, he truly does not believe that anyone could find something redeemable or worth loving within him even though he obviously desperately craves that kind of connection, actually theres a perfect example of this if you go back to episode 2 when the Fizzbot is talking to Blitzo and asks him “does anyone love you *BLITZO*?” And his immediate reply, without a single moment of hesitation is ‘no’
    No matter how obvious Stolas is being about his feelings for Blitzo, it can’t possibly surmount the iron wall of pure self-hate Blitzo has built around his heart, not yet anyway.

    • @Djorgal
      @Djorgal Місяць тому +4

      Stolas is not actually that obvious. Not to Blitzø. In ep1, Stolas calls him to explicitly work out a deal to lend him the book in exchange for a night of "passionate fornication" once a month. In ep2, he calls his "big dicked Blitzø" to be his bodyguard and flirts with incredibly graphic language with him all the time. Same at the harvest moon festival, and again asking for a sexual reward as thanks for the rescue in Truth Seekers.
      So, yeah, Stolas hasn't really been good at expressing his feelings when interacting with Blitzø. If we add to that Blitzø's self-hatred, it's no wonder that it came to that in this episode.

  • @Paxtin
    @Paxtin Місяць тому +5

    Something I started to realize the more I re-watched the scene in the club, Verosika actually calls Blitz specifically a "heart breaking freak", couple this with the fact she has a crossed out tat of his name, I'm starting to get the idea that she actually genuinely had feelings for Blitz at one point when they were together, which makes her a lot more sympathetic then just being the 'crazy ex' archetype...In fact really, if anything, that's more Blitz' role in all this...Also makes me wonder if that plays into why she drinks all the time.

  • @sisi4508
    @sisi4508 Місяць тому +8

    20:30 it's more like that Stolas is a royal and the imps are looked like nothing more than farmers (look at Millie family) or expandable labour source so it's like in our world if the queen of England would date a farmer by some it could be acceptable but by others not so much

  • @FlybyStardancer
    @FlybyStardancer Місяць тому +11

    Yeah, this is a paaaaaaaaainful episode. I'm proud of Blitzø for standing up for Moxxie against someone he didn't want to face, using the club's vibes, but ouch did they come down harder on him and Stolas than they did Moxxie.
    (And yes, Fizzarolli is cute, and I also love Ozzie.)
    And that heartbreaking scene in front of the steps with Stolas and Blitzø... It's easy to see Stolas' emotions here, and so much harder to get a read on Blitzø's... But the way he self-soothes, he doesn't lash out, the way his voice breaks on "you make that clear all the time", that little "I'm sorry"... Like, he totally expected to repay Stolas for the impromptu date by putting out, but then was just too heartbroken himself to do it. And if you go back and rewatch, prior to this episode Stolas really had been making everything about sex and spoke in a way that was demeaning and borderline fetishizing to Blitzø, so it's hard to blame him for believing that any suggestion would just be foreplay before trying to get him in bed.
    Also Stolas bowing to Blitzø gets me. 😢😢😢
    And that picture with Stolas... They were each pillowed on the other-- Stolas had his head on Blitzø's horn, and one of his arms was under Blitzø's head... (And Blitzø's smile looks exactly like his mother's in that shot...)
    And another thing to note-- that's a one-bedroom apartment, and the bedroom is Loona's.

    • @BrokenCake
      @BrokenCake Місяць тому

      I love the detail of Blitz having a one-bedroom apartment and giving the room to Loona to have her own space and privacy. I have complicated feelings about Blitz adopting Loona, especially because it seems like he really just wanted someone to be his family. Despite not being able to support her in all the ways Loona needs, he tries so hard and gives her whatever he's able to, and I think that's so important

    There is a hierarchy/caste system in hell:
    Least are the mortal hellborn demons. There’s further denominations with the imps and hell hounds at the very bottom.
    Next are the sinners. They are divided between the normal sinners and the overlords. Sinners can only exist in the Pride Ring, and are immortal unless killed by angelic weapons.
    Next are the immortal Royal hellborn: the Goetia. Stolas is in this group.
    Next are the Deadly Sins. Each of the seven rings is ruled independently by a Sin. Almost like vassal states under the highest tier.
    At the top are Charlie, Lilith and Lucifer. Lucifer is a seraphim, and as such is the most powerful being in hell that we’ve seen. Lilith is a sinner but shares in Lucifer’s angelic power. Charlie does too, but she’s technically a Nephilim, half angel half sinner. This makes her power rival Lucifer’s.

    • @lyrebirb83
      @lyrebirb83 Місяць тому +1

      @@kyratries To clarify a little bit more because Helluva Boss is highly based on real mythohistory of demonology. The Ars Goetia, is a demonology book detailing the extent of the Goetia family of demons. Stolas is in this book, he is a pacifist whos love is not of war and death and destruction but in the aquisition of knowledge through perfect understanding. To this goal Stolas consorted with humans, and other lesser demons. But this peacful image is a new development, Stolas (the IRL mythohistory one) is only a pacifist because at the time the ars goetia had been written he had masteed and learned everything about war through practical understanding. This is shown when he just full on petrifies an imp to death in s1e2, and again in the absolute horror of s1e6.
      Sidenote the monstrous crow quadruped demon he uses to save IMP, and terrify the two surviving DHORKS, is exactly how Stolas appeared when he was waging war. NOtably more descibed as raven or crow like in it's features.
      But all that background to state that the ars goetia details 72 demons, none of which are lucifer, beelzabub or the ilk, they are all described as outside the Ars Goetia. They are also described as the most powerful demons in hell. And out of show canon supports this. That means that Stolas (the Helluva Boss and IRL ones) are at worst, the 80th most powerful demon in hell.
      We've got Lucifer, who is either Pride incarnate or the superimposed ruler of hell. Then comes the 7 deadly sins, then the ars goetia. So at worst there are 8 demons above the goetia. and at worst, Stolas is the weakest of all of the demons detailed in the Ars Goetia.

    "i can be there in 20" and it takes exactly 20s for him to show up in Lust.
    And to make this even more tragic... he drives home with Blitz even tho he could just portal home in seconds just to spend more time with him.
    Edit: Next episode will make you feel better i think.

    • @fallingstar9643
      @fallingstar9643 Місяць тому +1

      I might be reading into it a bit much, but...
      Which one of the two suggested driving home? Certainly Stolas wouldn't have said, "Hey Blitzy, could you give me a lift?". That just doesn't seem very much in his character, especially considering he's on the defensive when they get back to his place ("defensive" here meaning "non-aggressive"). Which means Blitz must have been the one to ask, and it DOES fit his character; one who is both not in the right head-space to remember that Stolas can portal (and Blitz occasionally has bubblegum for brains anyway) and one that really REALLY does not want to be alone right now but can't bring himself to admit that to anyone.
      I imagine Blitz and Stolas getting back to the van, Blitz realizing Stolas followed him... a fraction of an awkward moment passes, before Blitz, in that slightly-confrontational, slightly-genuine tone of his, grumbles, "what, you want a lift?" to which Stolas, caught off-guard and not knowing what to do about Blitz, replies, "Y-yes, please..." and carefully folds himself into the passenger seat.
      Maybe somewhere in the back of his mind, Blitz needed the company, if only just to cool down... and maybe if Stolas had the wherewithal to carefully establish boundaries for the evening (though we can't blame him for not having the mindset of a professional psychologist; he had his own emotions to deal with!), then things might have ended differently... but even if that was the case, I don't think Blitz is ready for that. I think he needs to learn to love himself - or at least learn that he is worthy of being loved - before he can truly open his heart to another.

    To Blitz defence. The way stolas talked to/about Blitz in every other episode until this have really sounded like he only sees him like a plaything (literally in some cases).
    And Stolas hiding his face was probably the last "proof" for Blitz that it is the case. Blitz is also almost crying in the car. If you look close at that scene you will see that he isn't trying to be mean, he is trying to hold back tears. He even apologises for not being in the mood (even though he shouldn't have to), it sounds genuine and dont forget that he just got publicly humiliated in front of everyone.
    And, even if its heartbreaking, I really think that Stolas needed to hear that. He have been talking very condescending toward Blitz before this and it have been playing in to their wierd power imbalance.
    And yes. Imps are considered one of the lower class species in hell. Succubuses are one step above (together with most other hellborn). The Ars goetia on the other hand (like Stolas) is much higher up and are considered royaltys.
    Last thing: Asmodeus wasn't commenting on the fact that Stolas was sleeping with an imp, that was Wally Wackford (the fucking idiot). Asmodeus is the sin of lust, so he probably thought it was good/fun to se Stolas doing something like that. He just wasn't very smooth about it.

    ep8 is more relaxing, but has a bit sad but cute ending,
    2-1 is gonna be quite sad, prepare to cry
    2-2 is gonna be kinda sad but in a good way
    2-3 is gonna make you feel really bad for moxxie, it'll be angrying and kinda terrifying, but it wont end on a bad note
    2-4 is gonna make you feel really bad for stolas, another gut wrenching episode
    2-5 is very cringey,
    2-6 is emotional again,
    2-7 can be hard to watch at first but in the end it makes you happy.
    You'll learn more about Fizz and Blitz in episodes 2-6 and 2-7.
    You'll learn some of the backstory prior to IMP creation in 2-3.
    You'll learn almost complete backstory of Blitz and Stolas in 2-1.
    You'll learn a bit more about Blitz' relationship with his sister in 2-5.
    You'll meet other embodiments of sins in 1-8 and 2-7. So far we saw only Lucifer and Asmodeus, there are two more in the show. And the third is announced in trailer for the rest of the season 2.

    I never thought about it that way, but you're right, Stolas' fashion look near the start of this episode is "depression deshabille".
    Stolas having an affair with an imp would be like Prince Charles dating his valet. Maybe closer to dating the pizza delivery boy, in Blitzo's case. (Why yes, that _does_ look a lot like hypocrisy, doesn't it. )
    I had no idea Blitzo was seriously upset by the way Stolas treats him until the scene in the van, when he's on the verge of tears twice. But after a couple rewatches, I started really noticing the way other kinds of demons treat imps even when they're not being hostile. It isn't just Blitzo's self-hatred causing him to misunderstand Stolas, it's years of being called "imp boy" even though he's in his thirties and that kind of thing.
    I KNOW, the selfie! That Stolas does not know exists. And the scribbled-out pictures. And the way that isn't even his main photo roll, it's a small gallery of pictures of Blitzo with the people who have been most precious to him, even though in his mind none of them love him back.

    There is a sort of hierarchy in hell, you’re right. My (vague) understanding is that there’s no rule that imps should only be with imps, but as far as the ladder goes, I think imps are right above hellhounds, and both are basically near or at the bottom, and Stolas is basically royalty or at least nobility, so it’s seen as “stooping with a commoner” in their eyes, like is a Duke were to get involved with a peasant laborer.

    • @DarthRayj
      @DarthRayj 11 днів тому

      I think no one cares who succubi date/etc because that's kind of their whole thing, but otherwise most of the lowest rungs of the hierarchy seem socially pressured to interact more with their own kind. We see cross-interaction in some settings, but most of the big social gatherings or hangout spots seem to be predominantly meant for one species or another. It *mostly* doesn't seem to be an actual RULE, but interacting with people who can more easily understand your experience of the world is a pretty strong motivator, not to mention the aristocracy.

    Yeah, there is a hierarchy. It's a class-based society, though imps aren't at the bottom. Hellhounds are. It can be easy not to notice, but even Moxxie and Milly never even call Loona by name.
    ep1 - "Carefull, Mox. You're gonna shoot our only hellhound."
    ep5 - Milly introduces to her parents: "Ya'll haven't met my boss Blitz and his hellhound."
    For the rest of the hierarchy. At the top, there are the Seven Sins, who are basically royalty. Each of them rules over the corresponding ring.
    The Ars Goetia, like Stolas, would be the nobility.
    Under them, there are a few species of hellborns, like imps, fish demons, shark demons, goat demons. We don't know exactly how they relate to one another, likely somewhat on equal footings, just originating from different rings. Hellhounds are at the bottom. Succubi aren't a species, it's a job, Verosika is an imp.
    Another separate hierarchy is that of the sinners. Powerful sinners are known as overlords. But all of them are relegated to the Pride ring. They form Blitz's client base.

    I enjoyed all the reactions so far, but you NEED to get to chapter 1 of season 2, because it's one of the huge plot twists moments about this whole relationship. And 6 and 7 of season two also are amazing and bring soooo much info about Blitzø's past and some key moments in his life that start making get sense why he's so f up.
    What I love about this show is there's a lot of gray areas, it's not all black and white. They're demons in hell after all, they have flaws, they're shitty, but they also have many other individual qualities that are really good.
    Also, your analysis so far and all the details you catch is amazing. But yeah, there's a political and social background going on, and racial issues along the status of everyone in hell. Imps and hellhounds are minions that amount nothing for the ones higher in hierarchy, others are more or less like this in order of social standing: hellborns like succubi/sharks/etc, sinners, overlords (powerful sinners), demon royalty, deadly sins, Charlie & Lilith, Lucifer. So Stolas is for Blitzø what a master to a slave would've in Earth basically, the golden chains represented that, and Blitzø's also immersed in a coercive relationship for the book, which is the base of his business and what keeps him, his daughter and employees going... it's quite a lot, specially with his background in life and that fear to be alone/not loved.
    Stolas also has a loooot of baggage, both of them are really emotionally constipated and/or have no idea how to have a healthy relationship 😅 M&M and other couple I'm no spoiling are examples of good relationships that contrast with them.
    The whole point of the show is actually about "unfinished business" as IMP states. But these are Blitzø's unfinished businesses regarding his interpersonal relationships, from the past and present. Quite interesting honestly because they're more human and relatable than many other chars in other shows I've seen... quite a lot for bizarre demons in hell setting everything on fire and killing everyone 😂

    You're forgetting that Blitz feels used. So he thinks using Stolas in return is justified. He hates himself too. So he assumes no one can love him and sabotages himself all the time
    And why you just taking Verosika's word? People always just listen to a pretty face and not consider there is an other side to the story. She probably used him a lot for sex, the Fandom agrees that she was probably toxic for him too. I wouldn't want to recopicate her either if I were him. Look how her group SA'd Moxxie and how racist she is towards imps. Don't just believe the woman just because she's a woman. Look at Stella. :/

      Yeah, and Stolas' reaction didn't help at all.
      I also agree that Verosika is probably not without fault in their past relationship, and the interaction with Moxie was messed up, even if it was played up as a comedic element.
      But it's a serious assumption about her being racist. In the context of Spring Broken, she was mad at Blitz and his crew and hurled a couple of insults, but so far there's no clear indication of her general attitude towards imps throughout the series. No point was made.

    Well Ozzie wasn’t the one who said anything about blitz being an imp so not too much on him

      And he kinda, in a weird way, complemented Stolas for his "lustful" decision to go out with Blitz.
