completely blind now for 6.5 years, but interestingly I still have a strong memory of getting this game as a young teenager, opening it up, and putting into the PlayStation, and starting it up and hearing this song
Amazingly, you can still enjoy this beautiful music and be brought right back to Final Fantasy 9. I think it’s one of the best soundtracks ever!
リコーダー系のみで編成されたOP曲 これから始まる物語に何となく物寂しさと不安が過る感じ
そうして純粋なファンタジーが始まる感じがしててとても懐かしかった

14に備えて昨日FF9をクリアしました。
エンディングの時点で号泣しました。
8しかやったことなかったのですが、出会えてよかったです。

いやーーーこの始まりは、今までのシリーズとまた違った物語を連想させる曲でもある。
どのシリーズも好きだけど、やっぱり始まりの音がフラッシュバックさせるのスゴすぎる。

Now it's a turn for Final Fantasy IX!
Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano all believe that Final Fantasy IX is their best work, because this is how they imagined perfect Final Fantasy game.
And they couldn't be more wright
Does that mean anything? Sakaguchi also said in the past that V is his favourite. Does that mean that V should be placed at the top of every list entirely because the creator “claims” so? Again, no. We should grade a game based on that game's merits, not a nice statement a producer said about an upcoming game.
People always bring this up like it means something. This is the same guy that nearly tanked his entire company with that awful “The Spirits Within” movie and then went on to make blue dragon and the last story. Sure. His opinion is gospel.
As for Amano, where did he say this? It’s also ironic since IX didn’t even use his artwork afterwards. The artwork in the older FF games during the NES and SNES consoles were done by Yoshitaka Amano, and since FFIX was supposed to be using the classical style, that clearly means that IX would use his artwork, right? Well, not really. Amano did draw concept art, but the staff didn't even use them and instead had Toshiyuki Itahana, the guy who would later on do Crystal Chronicles (not a critique against that game, just a detail), do the official designs.
They got this genius artist back to do the character art and… used almost none of it. The chibi art style would have been less of an issue if they had still looked like Amano's designs! IX is supposed to be in the classical FF style and yet they didn't even really use the artist who made that classic style.
Heck, even FFXV (with all its own flaws) handled this all much better. Not only did it have a Crystal that was repeatedly build up and referenced throughout the entire game, it even used Amano's artwork! While Nomura's artwork was used for the human characters, Amano's classic designs were used for the creatures and monsters.

Please, remake this fantastic game. Is like a book, a beautiful tale with a lot of soul. And the art style never gets old... Such a gem.
One of my most favorites and a beautiful game. Final Fantasy IX is a masterpiece with a beautiful soundtrack, amazing story, iconic characters, and lots of things that made IX a gem. Whenever I hear this song, I close my remembered fond memories playing this game when I was small.

No, it’s not. It's frustrating to see tons of plot elements and characters recycled, sometimes almost completely unchanged, from older entries and is perfectly content to just ride the nostalgia wave. I couldn't stop seeing similarities to FF4's plot structure in a number of places, right down to a nearly carbon-copy reproduction of the final boss switch

Glad to see that anyone who criticizes IX is automatically wrong because IX is apparently a sacred cow where anything said that is not positive is considered “heresy”.
This will never not make me nostalgic as all hell. I love this game so much.
どこか懐かしさもあり、神秘的でもあり、ちょっと不気味でワクワクもするこのオープニング曲がまじで大好きです。リコーダーの音色ってところが本当に良い。

初めてプレイしたFFがIXだったのと、父親が、ジタンに妹の名前、ダガーに私の名前を付けてプレイしていたので、IXはすごく思い入れのある作品です。
ファンタジーな世界観のRPG自体もほぼ初めてだったので、絵本の中みたいな中世ヨーロッパ風の世界観にワクワクしながらプレイしていましたが、この曲を聴くと、少し悲しいような、懐かしいような気持ちになったのを思い出します。リメイク出るなら現代の綺麗な映像になってしまうんだろうけれど、PSの少し荒いグラフィックで、キャラクターもリアルな感じのデザインではなくて、頭身低いのがまた絵本っぽくて大好きだったな

Freya’s plot was pretty much booted to the side and given a weak resolution, so that is ironic.

@@Zelink108 A remake means taking the risk that they change things drastically and I don't think FFIX needs that.

IX didn't resonate with me as strongly as VII & VIII, even so this track is majestic
At least someone else here acknowledges that IX’s story felt pretty weak. It did have a few nice tracks though, even if the soundtrack in general felt pretty bland and generic compared to other FF games.
And that's totally fine. :) We all have our favs. Every ff game is someone's most beloved ff and someone else's most hated. Lol
9 personally resonated well with me.
12 is one that I just couldn't gel well with personally.

Yup! Even that new area they've spoken about. It's name is an ff9 reference.
The one they refused to show the npcs in the area. (Didn't say the name in case you're avoiding spoilers)
Now we have reached FFIX, time to be pointing out a lot of its many overlooked problems.
I hope a remake for this game is announced soon, and it can fix and rewrite those many problems.
