The last numbered FF game to have an overworld, but what an incredible overworld theme to go out on!

I love this world theme so so so much, it makes me feel all cozy, like I want to replay FFIX on a winter night with a cup of hot chocolate and cat by my side.
このフィールド曲が癒される感じで好きなんだよね。4枚目になると、フィールド曲がガラリと変わってしまいますね！
霧に包まれたフィールドに飛空艇が飛び交うミステリアスな世界なのにほのぼのとした曲調
命の曲 Melodies Of Lifeのアレンジ曲（どっちが原曲かは知らんが）良いよね
FF9は曲数の多さの都合でサントラ収録が全曲ほぼ１ループちょいなのが残念でならなかった
全てのゲームのフィールドBGMの中で一番好き

最初のワールドマップはその作品のテーマ曲
この曲こそがFF9、かつて初めてプレイした時の記憶を思い出させる曲です
ワールドマップ初めて出た時にこの曲ですごく癒されてフルで聴くためにしばらく動かさずに浸ってたなぁ
FF9は本当に名曲だらけ😊
the best rpg overworld theme. if lost odyssey had an actual overworld and not a menu, "Neverending Journey" might have beat it, but menu overworlds don't count.
終盤、聴けなくなるの悲しかった
FF9のワールドマップ開始タイミングは、
魔の森脱出直後+霧の中で不安な状況で足が進まないはずなのに、
この優しいBGMのおかげで何処へでも行ける気持ちになるんですよね～
BGMタイトル通り、あの丘を越えてどこまでも進めそうな感覚を体験したとき、
少年期の私はこのゲームが素晴らしいものになると確信できました...

The most relaxing overworld theme. 😌

Whimsical, soothing, calming. Over the Hill is one of the quintessential overworld themes. It says "Go on an adventure!" similar to that of V's, and when listening to it, you can get the sense of Zidane's "go with the flow" mentality that carries with him throughout the early points of the game.
Back in the day before I had any decent cellphone that could store MP3s, I would boot up this game and just load an overworld save, and let the music play on loop while I got dressed for work. I would often sit for 15-20 mins before I left, just so it would play over and over in my head throughout the day (as if I "brought it with me" lol). 😁 I love this song, always have and always will. ❤️

Definitely one of the best map themes in the series, both this one and VIII’s lend their worlds a lot of unique character

I never get tired of listening to this, it's always on my playlist.
Final Fantasy IX will forever hold a special place in my heart. I'll never forget how I felt when I first heard this song play when I got to the overworld. Such wonder and excitement!
This track used to be called "crossing those hills." I still love it every bit as much as when I heard it for the first time back in 2000.
I love that scene of the cargo ship flying across the overworld and how it showcases some other airship types from the game's concept art taking off and flying. It's some nice worldbuilding.
The best overworld theme. Simply walking around on the world map is fun because of it. I constantly hum this one in between battles.
I'm not sure why this and TFBL translate it as "the" hill rather than "that" hill. I've always seen it as the latter, and あの here is clearly "that."

I think this is my favorite song in all of Final Fantasy. Will always take me back to that exact moment and just either relax or cry 😂❤
9 will always be my favorite Uematsu soundtrack but the Melodies of Light leitmotif is just perfection to me with the vibe the game was going for. Truly truly heartwarming to me

the World Map theme ('Crossing Those Hills') is an instrumental remix of 'Melodies of Life', the love song and main theme of the game. Giving off certain impressions, that I've already talked about before, about how the game acts like the romance of Zidane and Garnet is one of the main focuses.

I remember playing this game in my teenager time, back when the life has no responsibilities and worries. It was a time that will never return. Thanks Squaresoft for giving us a lot of RPGs for the ps1.

We need to bring back the world map in future FF releases. Not every title needs to be as big as Rebirth
It's a shame world maps seem to have fallen out of favor, bacause we will never get another 10/10 world map theme like this.
