I think the Lightwoods in TMI are descendants of Gabriel and Cecily because Alec has blue eyes and dark hair. Which could mean that Jace and Alec are somewhat related.
Blew my mind away. Event though i read all of them (including Lost Souls & Princess) i never noticed or compared the series. I love authors that write several series then connect them by putting characters from one series into another.
I love your crazy antics and how energetic and passionate you are about your books. Keep making reviews WITH the spoilers I really enjoy them. You're loaders of FUN
Girl you've got me so hyper and excited for this series! I literally just ordered City of bones and City of ashes. I'll read those two first and continue the series :) I love your energy! Perfect way to get people to want to read the books you have read.
"Don't watch this is you haven't read all of these books, and I'm talking like, 'Clockwork Prince-' GODDAMIT, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOUR THEORY WAS. Ughhhhh, I hate that I haven't started The Infernal Devices yet. BUT I WILL BE BACK.
I'm watching this video after the whole TID and TMI series (so far) and am laughing me head off at you thinking that Brother Zachariah is Jem!! But from what books were out at the time that you made this video this is a really good theory!
B Win : Yes. That is why I'm laughing. Because she thinks that Brother Zachariah is Jem, and we KNOW that Brother Zachariah is Jem. I can see how the way I worded that can be misleading though. Sorry!
I love your crazy bubbly personality!! After reading most of the books (haven't read Clockwork Prince) I haven't built up full theories on whats gonna happen but I have noticed some curious things: 1) Alec and the Lightwoods have the same eyes and hair as Will. May not mean anything but I find it curious. 2) Tessa's angel necklace is in the New York Institute Library (mentioned in CoLS) 3) In CoG, in the Epilogue, Magnus is mentioned talking to a woman with pale brown hair. Tessa is immortal!
I agree! I love your videos! We have a lot of similar interests in books, your reviews are fabulous. I have read and re-read all the books released in both the mortal instruments and infernal devices and upon rereading them I discovered a lot of the same similarities, especially the repeated scenes like with the piano/violin and I also had strange thoughts about the cup and the church institutes! You HAVE to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Huge story world, with good use of Angels/Chimaera.
In Clockwork Angel Magnus says his favorite combination is blue eyes and black hair: Alec Will hates the Lightwoods so what if Jace was put their on purpose to make peace between both families! Magnus and Simon might try to find how to make someone immortal without biting them or being born into it! Henry might have had some genius theory that he hid that somehow got to NY and that helps them defeat Sebastian!
he also mentions both tessa, will and london in City of Fallen Angels ( i think) when he sees Camille again (again..i cant remember) but i definitely know he said something like 'i saw blah-de-blah park, a boy with dark hair and blue eyes just like alec's, a brown haired girl with a worried look' or something along those lines
AHHHH ! These book are too clever and your theory makes sense and I just want all the other books to come out so I can read them and we can all find out the secrets and everything! I hate waiting ahah! :)
Not sure if anyone has said this already but in one of the TMI's, either City of Ashes or City of Glass, it mentions that Jace or Magnus (not too sure) sees a girl with dark hair in a dark cloak (or something), in the far distance beside some trees, that is most likely Tessa who obviously lives a long time. I think during a Q&A CC actually confirmed that, but I might be wrong.
Cassandra Clare is making a new shadowhunter story called the Dark Artifices but it won't come out till 2015 but they are going to be in LA this time and with different characters !
Actually it was mentioned in City of Fallen Angels. Clary and Jace both have the scar because it shows that they have been "touched by angels" or something like that.
It makes sense, though. One of the silent brothers (can't remember which) said there was two people he cared about. So this means that Jem or Will could become a silent brother, and the two people they care about is either Jem or Will and Tessa.
@ladytakiko1493 The Infernal Devices are definitely a trilogy. Cassandra alluded to that on her tumblr. And you do make a good point. What if the Infernal Devices are what Sebastian, Clary, and Jace need to break the bind between? Plus we still don't know what the Infernal Devices are.
@BSMART18 whoa wait..I haven't heard anything about that Dark Artifices.. I just hit the net and found the emma carstairs , mark and julian thing..I hope you won't mind explaining this new thing to me..I'm a die-hard shadowhunter legend fan but not really updated on cassie's tweets and blogs..thanks!
When Jace tells Clary "To love is to destroy, and to be loved is to be the one destroyed" I started thinking and Wills curse is anyone who loves him is killed or "Destroyed" so maybe thats part
also maybe the clave didn't want people to know that they could change ordinary humans into shadowhunters (i don't know why) but then it actually does change ordinary humans into shadowhunters and then tess did change into a shadowhunter.
Forgot where, but here's the quote: "Looking at her, he was in London again. He saw the gaslight and smelled the smoke and dirt and horses, the metallic tang of fog, the flowers in Kew Gardens. He saw a boy with black hair and blue eyes like Alec’s, heard violin music like the sound of silver water. He saw a girl with long brown hair and a serious face."
Remember how Jace had the same scar? It was explained in one of the books how people who have been associated with angels, or are a descendent of someone who has been associated with angels will have a star-shaped scar. Also, in the beginning, Clary thought it was a chicken pox scar because that's what her mom wanted her to believe and Magnus did his mind magic on her.
I did the same exact thing! I read Clockwork prince and had to reread all Cassandra Clare's works, i found all those similarities too...! Great video:)
I had to add to favorites because I haven't finished reading the T I D and The City Of Fallen Angels and The City Of Souls Yet, but i want to watch this video.
explain why Church in the New York's institute in present days. One thing seems clear, after the events that'll happen in Clockwork Princess, Will probably ends up living in London again, not in New York; remember that in City Of Ashes, Luke tells Jace that Stephen Herondale's family had been in charge of the London Institute for a very long time, before they moved to Idris. About Emma Carstairs, Clare said that she'll explain how did she 'get' her surname, so maybe she's not Jem's descendant...
It is City of Glass, and yeah, at the beginning of the book when they are all going to travel to Alicante, the girl talking to Magnus is in fact Tessa.
this video is great ! my theorie: considering Tessa is immortal (magus is seen talking to a girl with dark hair and grey eyes) then maybe Jem becomes a silent brother so he won't die (because all that silver powder stuff is running out) and Will becomes a silent brother so that he can still be with Tessa ??? oh and did anyone else notice the cheeky Tale of Two Cites refrences in both TMI and TID?
In City of Fallen Angels when Jace is with the Silent Brothers in that cell thing, on the wall there is a carving of the letters JG. Some people think that it he understood it wrong and that it was James Carstairs or Tessa Gray. But I think that it was Jessamine. Because with the ring Nate gave her she starts carving on the wall in CP. She married Nate, and therefore identifies herself as Jessamine Gray. Just a theory.
In Cassie's series after TMI, the main character is Emma Carstairs, also just because they share the same last name doesn't mean they are direct descendents :)
In City of Fallen Angels, Lilith made some passing comment that Simon WAS NOT the first Daylighter. That means somebody was the FIRST. What if a cure is found for Jem and the cure involved angel's blood some kind of way. And THEN he was transformed into a vampire? If he was healthy at one point, he could have impregnated Tessa (or some other lucky woman), which could explain Emma Carstairs - the main character of The Dart Artifices series.
Clary's the star-shaped mark is pretty simple. First it's a birthmark. It means that she's a descendant of someone who met an angel (Valentine had the angel in the basement). The Herondales (like Jace and his dad) have the same mark because they are also descended from someone who met an angel. That was what Imogen used to identify Jace as a Herondale in CoA. Amatis explains it to Jace in CoG pg 513. It brings up a big question though, who in the Herondale line has met an angel? Maybe Will?
I LOVE THE SERIES, they are all very good and I ABSOLUTLY cant wait til the 5th book comes out in the mortal instrument series there are supposed to be 6 books in that series
YES!! I am rereading this series too and I am convinced that jem becomes brother Jeremiah right?? Their names even sound alike and jace says that he has humor for someone who can't talk so he's likable right ? Also!! Jem is dying of the demon stuff he has to take... Sooo Tessa maybe convinces jem that this is the only way he can live and she does or says something that makes him do it even though he doesn't want to!!?
In Clockwork Princess, after Will and Tessa do the deed Will gets a star shaped mark on his shoulder because the Angel in Tessa's necklace is leaning on Will's shoulder. As they say 'The Herondales have always been closer to the Angels'
Jem was the nephew of Elias Carstairs who is described with "tall, fair-haired" with eyes like"cornflowers". He is the ancestor of Emma Carstairs. Also, Emma gets the knife Elias showed to Will.
omg.....i was rereading City of Fallen Angels and when Magnus and Camille see each other for the first time since they broke up a while ago, magnus says that when he saw camille it reminded him of london. And he saw a boy with blue eyes and black hair like Alec's (obviously Will). and he also saw a girl with brown long curls and a serious face (tessa). this doesn't mean anything but i just wanted to put it out there :)
In the city of ashes page 77 it has the inquisitor with the last name Herondale. So in the infernal devices, Will does have kids. Therefore he does not become a silent brother, not to sure about Jem though. Just felt happy about that cause I just reread it.
Cassie Clare has just announced that she's writing the Bane Chronicles that will tell us all the stories about Magnus!! Peru, his dad, Camille.. all that will be explained! :)
City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, Clockwork Angel, City of Fallen Angels, Clockwork Prince, City of Lost Souls, Clockwork Princess, then finally City of Heavenly Fire when it comes out :)
i love your videos especially about the mi and id series they make me laugh so so much and your theories are like mine so i don't feel crazy anymore ; )
I don't know if you saw this but Im pretty sure cassandra clare posted that church was actually tessa in shapeshifted form- the new church(obviously not the one in the infernal devices)
Also, they talk about how Maryse's generation was the first generation of women shadowhunters, but Charlotte and Jessemine both are expected to fight. Is it different from New York to London? I need to know!
That actually makes sense... And the theory that Will, Jem and Tessa will move to New York would explain why Clary saw in the library a necklace which is an angel made of clockwork (Tessa's Angel?!)
Will cant be a silent brother because in the second book city of ashes, when the Inquisitor Hearnandole locks Jace up, Maryse says something along the lines of "He's not will." The Inquisitor says she wants Valentine feel the pain of holding a dying child and not have any way to help them. SO, in this case, will is dead.
Also, if you read COA again, you'll c that Luke makes reference to the design of the institute and that it was Maryse's taste, so it doesn't necessarily mean that, but i just wanted to get that out there. And i like your theories
Charlotte and Henry are clary's ancestors because Charlotte's surname before she married Henry was Fairchild, which was Jocelyn's last name and Clary's true surname. Also in city of Lost souls Sebastian mentions that their family came from London and Hello Henry's ginger hair gets passed down. I also think will or cecily has something to do with the lightwoods because magnus mentions Alec looking a lot like Will
in re-reading city of fallen angels when magnus goes to talk to Camille he remembers london and a brown haired girl with a serious face (TESSA) and out of all the things that leave him she was one of the things that never left and that concerns me... does tessa live forever?
As I was always taught (which I could be wrong of course) Morgenstern means morning star (morgen is German for morning and stern for star) they bring that up in the end of CoB when Valentin was talking about the star that's on the Morgenstern family ring and how Jace should have known because of that that it wasn't the Wayland ring (which has a hammer on it) Also in Clockwork Princess they mention a Morgenstern for like a millisecond and she's German
I TOTALLY NOTICED THE PART OKAY SO LIKE Tessa walks into Jem's room and he's like "Will, is that you?" and Tessa's all like "no." Well, when Clary walks in on Jace, he says, "Alec, is that you?" LIke those exact words. like OMFG
My Sister also has a Theory: Shadowhunters have this big thing about their family rings. Jem and Jace have one, given to them by their fathers, I think. At the start of Clockwork Angel, the Dark Sisters show Tessa Nate's ring. If Nate's father (uncle) was a Shadowhunter, when he died Nate would've gotten his ring. If the ring is a Shadowhunter family ring then this would prove that Tessa's parents were Shadowhunters and solve that issue for them.
I am rereading City of Bones right now and I came up with this crazy theory. In City of Glass when Clary sees Tessa she says something is familiar about her. In City of Bones Madam Dorthea says she was adopted by a Warlock to attend to the place while she was gone and is told to watch and guard. I don't think she meant gone as dead What If Tessa is Madam Dorthea Mother? I just feel Tessa wants Clary and Jocelyn safe as they are Fairchilds related to Charolette. Just a theroy.
1) I thought it was 'not all churches are institutes' not the other way around, and 2) Morgenstern means "morning star". But I LOVE THIS VIDEO! It is the first one I ever saw, and now I watch all your videos!!
@EraserDusts yeah i agree. I think Will is going to die so maybe Jem becomes one when he dies? oh and u know the silentbrother who talked to Jace and was like 'we have nothing against the Herondales' i think that's him :/
Your crazy like me with the series. I love love love them. I've read all the books. I am like absence about this books. I never stop talking about them. Ever since i heard that they were going to make the movie. I was like OMG! :) i cant wait til the movie.
I already commented but i just thought of something. the main character of TDA is named emma carstairs so jem is her ancestor. his family is gone so she has to be descendent from him. i think tessa is a shadowhunter-demon hybrid so her blood is the cure for jem. she doesnt end up with jem so he becomes a silent brother. who do yall think magnus' dad is? its gotta be pretty bad cuz he never talks about it. maybe its lucifer & THATS why magnus is so powerful.
I think Brother Zachariah might be Will. I haven't read TID yet so going only on character descriptions and the fact Will is a Herondale and Brother Zachariah has a strange fondness(for a silent brother) for Jace. I can't wait to dive into TID because i love love love multilayer stories like TMI, TID, and soon The Dark Artifices. So maybe 12 books totally unless Cassandra decides to make TDA 6 like she did TMI...?
Ok, so in City of Lost Souls, remember how when they start talking about raising the angel, Magnus gets all anxious and stuff? And the whole Herondale mark, how Jace has one and its passed down or whatever? But we don't know if Will has one or not! SO MAYBE THEY RAISE AN ANGEL IN CLOCKWORK PRINCESS? MAYBE TO CURE JEM OR SOMETHING? I don't know but it makes me really excited, so that's my crackpot theory.
I think brother zachariah is Stephen herondale, because he's described looking a little younger than the other silent brothers, and he says he would know Jace is a herondale just by looking at him . . . . ? Just a theory :)
Did you notice, this was said to both Tessa AND Simon. "You're still human, in all the ways that matter." Well for Simon it was "all the ways that count" But still pretty similar huh?
Oh and my friend and I were under the impression that Tessa was really the New York Church because of her shape shifting abilities and because she's immortal and that's why she liked Jace the best because he was like her great, great, etc. grandson lol
And nobody questions how church is immortal
That's what I was always wondering
Because it was explained in the books (well kind of)
Cause it was the Dark Sisters cat so maybe it has warlock powers? Idk
I was thinking the same thing
Carolina Periwinkle On Cassandra's Tumblr she said it was because warlock magic.
So many of those theories just destroyed in Clockwork Princess
watching this from 2020 and hearing that people thought will was brother zachariah has me cracking and crying at the same time
I think the Lightwoods in TMI are descendants of Gabriel and Cecily because Alec has blue eyes and dark hair. Which could mean that Jace and Alec are somewhat related.
Omg what
Yess :))
Blew my mind away. Event though i read all of them (including Lost Souls & Princess) i never noticed or compared the series. I love authors that write several series then connect them by putting characters from one series into another.
Brother Zachariah = Jem
that's exactly what I thought
This aged well.
rosie4eva ! WTF did i ltrly foretell..
Sofia Martin we stan. what are your thoughts on the dark artifices? xx
Brother Zachariah becomes human in City of Heavenly Fire and I'm currently reading that book and I think its awesome.
"Don't watch this is you haven't read all of these books, and I'm talking like, 'Clockwork Prince-'
GODDAMIT, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOUR THEORY WAS. Ughhhhh, I hate that I haven't started The Infernal Devices yet.
BUT I WILL BE BACK.
Brother Zachariah is Jem nd Will doesn't become a silent brother
No. Hotel Dumort is destroyed by a portal to hell. Reference: The Bane Chronicles
I'm watching this video after the whole TID and TMI series (so far) and am laughing me head off at you thinking that Brother Zachariah is Jem!! But from what books were out at the time that you made this video this is a really good theory!

I love this theory omfg! I can't stop thinking and trying to find out a connection between characters!!
Here in 2018 laughing bc I know all of the answers
Gosh, I need to read as much as you. That's my resolution... to read as much as Christine
oh my gosh! your theories make soooooo much sense.
Cassandra Clare is making a new shadowhunter story called the Dark Artifices but it won't come out till 2015 but they are going to be in LA this time and with different characters !
i read clockwork prince a month ago and since then i havent been able to stop thinking about it. its nice to see someone shares my obsession :)
City of Lost Souls is released on May 8th 2012. This video was uploaded on January 13th 2012.
I really want to watch this video but I have never read Clockwork Angle but I'm planning to soon...I have read all TMI Books that are out!
Holy jizz! Has anyone else seen the pictures of the Clockwork Princess cover? They look awesome! When do they come out?!

I read all of them, so you were actually pretty close, but there were a few things that are a little out there.
Yes he does and Tessa is still alive - she's the girl in a white dress at the end of CoG ( in The Epilogue) that looks familiar to Clary. :)
Forgot where, but here's the quote:
"Looking at her, he was in London again. He saw the gaslight and smelled the smoke and dirt and horses, the metallic tang of fog, the flowers in Kew Gardens. I fell in love with these books!!!! This book series is one of the best I have ever read. If you like this, you should read the Hush Hush series. :)
Cassie Clare has just announced that she's writing the Bane Chronicles that will tell us all the stories about Magnus!! Peru, his dad, Camille.. all that will be explained! :)
City of Bones,
City of Ashes,
City of Glass,
Clockwork Angel,
City of Fallen Angels,
Clockwork Prince,
City of Lost Souls,
Clockwork Princess,
then finally City of Heavenly Fire when it comes out :)
@nicoleandchris2002 You can just read The Infernal Devices - its the prequel series to The Mortal Instruments.
i love your videos especially about the mi and id series they make me laugh so so much and your theories are like mine so i don't feel crazy anymore ; )
I don't know if you saw this but Im pretty sure cassandra clare posted that church was actually tessa in shapeshifted form- the new church(obviously not the one in the infernal devices)
This is good. I haven't read TMI :( though, but what's going on with the name Clary Fray and Tessa Gray. Are they kind of related somehow? :/
Cassandra Clare is writing a new series after The Mortal Instruments and the main character's name is Emma Carstairs.
I'm freaking out!
Your theory makes total sense to me!
In COFA, when Magnus was talking to Camille in the Sanctuary (I think thats what it's called), didn't Magnus hint that Tessa was still alive?
Will cant be a silent brother because in the second book city of ashes, when the Inquisitor Hearnandole locks Jace up, Maryse says something along the lines of "He's not will." The Inquisitor says she wants Valentine feel the pain of holding a dying child and not have any way to help them. SO, in this case, will is dead.

Also in city of Lost souls Sebastian mentions that their family came from London and Hello Henry's ginger hair gets passed down. I also think will or cecily has something to do with the lightwoods because magnus mentions Alec looking a lot like Will
Did you notice in COLS there's a book in the library called something like The Demon's Pox?
in re-reading city of fallen angels when magnus goes to talk to Camille he remembers london and a brown haired girl with a serious face (TESSA) and out of all the things that leave him she was one of the things that never left and that concerns me... does tessa live forever?
As I was always taught (which I could be wrong of course) Morgenstern means morning star (morgen is German for morning and stern for star) they bring that up in the end of CoB when Valentin was talking about the star that's on the Morgenstern family ring and how Jace should have known because of that that it wasn't the Wayland ring (which has a hammer on it) Also in Clockwork Princess they mention a Morgenstern for like a millisecond and she's German
GAH, I cannot wait for Clockwork Princess!! Also maybe Gabriel gets with Cecily which would explain why Alec looks so much like Will?
Clockwork angles/prince/princes is the prologue to the mortal instruments series
the Inquisitor is Stephan (Jace's Dads) mom, but it seems more likely that The Inquisitor is a decedent of Cecily rather than Will.
I TOTALLY NOTICED THE PART OKAY SO LIKE Tessa walks into Jem's room and he's like "Will, is that you?" and Tessa's all like "no." Well, when Clary walks in on Jace, he says, "Alec, is that you?" LIke those exact words. like OMFG
could you do a video on rick riodan books
the silent brothers ? o.0 have you seen the cover for the City of Lost Souls book ? :D
My Sister also has a Theory:
Shadowhunters have this big thing about their family rings.
It's so interesting to watch these videos after you've read both series'.
What do you think of the theory of Tessa appearing at the end of City of Fallen of Angels? (when she's under the tree talking to Magnus)
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES!!!!!!!!! but havent read clockwork books yet. oh well. LOVE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS!!!!!
I LOVE THAT YOU LOVE THIS BOOKS AS MUCH AS I DO!!:)
Hi, are you going to read the 3 book in Infernal Devices?
I think brother zachariah is Stephen herondale, because he's described looking a little younger than the other silent brothers, and he says he would know Jace is a herondale just by looking at him . . . . ? Just a theory :)
I agree, that makes alot of sense. That would be cool if it like... is, or happened. I always thought Tessa would chose Will...
