Few years ago i heard this first time. I was in my best friends car, heavy raining. My friend never talks much. He just said "for you, and your father." He then touched my shoulder. It was my fathers funeral day... I can never listen this without silent, bitter-sweet tears... And when the seremonies begun, suddenly raining stopped, and sun shined! (only for maybe five minutes, but everything was so beautiful for a moment...)
My final request as for now to whoever it may concern for my ceremony of honor after I depart this world. Have this song played for a time of remembrance when all have gathered to pay their respects. Furthermore, bury me with a two edged sword at my side and my Bible in hand. If God permits it lay me to rest in a withdrawn clearing away by myself in a forest of oak trees. Wherever I lay mark this place with a Celtic cross carved of stone.
es posible que algún día regreses aquí solo por nostalgia o solo por recordar viejos tiempos.. que mal que no pudimos trazar un futuro juntos.. ahora todo queda en un "y que hubiera pasado si".. ten por seguro que nunca te olvidare..
After doing some research, I have come to an interesting discovery. So, if you speed up the tune played here, most people would recognize it as "Star of the County Down." However, that is not the original name of the tune. Most people who know that is not the original name nor the original lyrics will say that the tune is the Irish song known as "My Love Nell", a song about a young man who courts a girl but loses her when she emigrates to America. Although this may be partly correct, it is partly incorrect. In fact, the music is most likely not even Irish. If you pay attention to English folk and church music, this tune pops up so many times that it's baffling. The tune is actually called "Kingsfold", and possibly dates back all the way to the middle ages in England. This is also used in "O Sing a Song of Bethlehem", "I Hear the Voice of Jesus Say", and "The Unquiet Grave". I swear, this tune is like Greensleeves in that it turns up everywhere in so many different ways, and almost always ends up having a different set of lyrics put to it. I'm not complaining though; it's a great tune. It's calming, creepy, and beautiful all at the same time.
This is the best song ever and there will never be another song as good as this.. This is a pure masterpiece, so many feelings come to life within me when I hear this... Swiss music rocks!
you realize how good it was to live among people who also played the music .... you caress the ears and says exactly what you wanted to hear .... how much I wish I lived and I in those days ...
Ich komme immer ins träumen wenn ich dieses Lied höre..... Einfach so wunderschön, es kommt mir so vor, als wenn es von längst vergangenen Zeiten erzählt....
i have turned this song on when i became 20 and in turned on once i recognized that the doctors told my mother that my grandfather has died. I love this song. It gives me so much hope that everything will go on. without words it helps me more than a billion storys could. thanks to the brilliant minds behind this song
Cant you just see yourself sitting in the grass overlooking the green hills with the sun setting behind your back and a soft breeze in your face with this song playing in the background? Beautiful.
"Anagantios, the second station in the years wheel. This track is an ode to the subtle revival and reburgeoning life after Winter - quiet and fragile, yet powerful and relentless. The time when Cernunnos awakes from his sleep and begins to raise his face again, the feast of the gentle resurrection of life." -Eluveitie, Slania 2008
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It makes me think of pagan celebrations--and what is that, but a celebration of life itself? When I hear this song it takes me somewhere else, with the Lord and Lady...in my sacred circle where time stands still, I play for the Goddess and my heart sings...
I... I don't believe it. I'm a grown man, and i just listened to this three times and I cried. Christ, i wasn't expecting this... It's beautiful. I'm booking a holiday for the Yorkshire Dales as I type this :D
Im a korpiklaani fan and learned about this band today checking some videos. Now i can't stop listening to it. Its just fantastic how much emotion these guys carry with their songs. Its the stuff dreams are made of.
This is my favorite of all Eluveitie's songs. Simple, yet so powerful and moving. Images of pagan celebration...a celebration of life, come to mind whenever I hear this song. Suddenly I'm taken away to another time and place, dancing around a fire under the stars with my kinfolk. And what is the pagan life....but a life of celebration?!
When i first heard this song, I almost cried...I honestly long for a place i've never been...atleast...in this lifetime, everytime i listen to it. It brings out an emotion in me i've never felt. It's truly a beautiful song. I love this song and this band.
I always imagine a forest in Switzerland, two thousand years ago when I hear this, or any Eluveitie in fact. Just a great band, makes me really proud to be Swiss for once!
you are so right... it's like crying and smiling at the same time, your soul wan't to dance and your heart feels just as you think about your love:) it's so hard to describe...
This song is sick. I cant stop listening it. How many emotions in one song. Fuck pop and hip-hop, this is the MUSIC. And of course... dont start my funeral without this song...
This song is awesome. Like a previous poster said it brings to my minds eye rolling green hills with white capped mountains in the distance and a cold clear river burbling swiftly over grey rocks.
nicely said, seriously. The fact is that it's not easy for everyone those simples pleasures... I live in Liège (Belgium) good luck to find a good place to hunt or fish. Most rivers are polluted you can't even access them (even though we still do). And hell yeah how many times did I say that I was born during the wrong period... But that's it now i'm in it got no choice but to live forward...
Makes me want to live a thousand years ago as a farmer near a small hamlett in Europe and at the end of the day sit in a tavern with my brothers and sitters toasting to the simple life over a fine ale.
This is a bond between us and Nature. Could be the melody of an ancient forest...a place where you can be alone with grass, trees, wind and sea. Don't you feel a fresh breath on your face right now?
You appear like an expert on this. Do you know if there ar any vocals? Cause I swear I can hear something that resembles a womas voice at some points during the song. But then again this might just be onea the instruments. (From 0.30)
The first picture reminds me of something you'd see through the perspective of a Celtic soldier dying and the rest are playing this song for them as their final farewell.
@btown346 i'm pretty sure the language they use is called Gaulish... are there other bands who use dead languages? what are some of their names? i just discovered this band today and i'm absolutely loving the genre... metal never ceases to amaze me \m/>.
@junkerdunk Yup. Me too. If you watch the movie Last of the Mohicans, the final scene is filmed in the Appalachians. I hike that very spot all the time. It's gorgeous.
@ratedA4Awesum Somewhere beautiful with green grass, snow-topped mountains, and clear rivers. A place where there are no big cities or poluted air. All you hear are the birds, the trees and the grass swaying in the wind, and the rivers flowing. I can just picture it all while listening to this song. I don't know exactly where it is, but it's gorgeous and foreign. I think the closest actual places I can compare it to are certain parts of Northern Europe.
@Simoneetrange if you want a place like that you should come to Iceland. there aren't that many trees but the nature here is mostly unpoluted and it really is a nice place :)
there are 2 songs with nearly same theme like this one... its victory song from ensiferum (ad victoriam) and where the heroes die from northland... all 3 songs are epic and flawless...
Few years ago i heard this first time. I was in my best friends car, heavy raining. My friend never talks much. He just said "for you, and your father." He then touched my shoulder.

I like this friend. Good friendship, may it last forever.
If you've got a *drop* of Celtic blood in you, it's hard not to get a little teary eyed listening to this :).
You don't really need a drop of Celtic blood, believe me, this song make me drop few tears d:
This song always brings tears to my eyes. Makes me think of my sweet, fiery little Irish grandma, who I lost last year.
My final request
as for now
to whoever it may concern
for my ceremony of honor
after I depart this world.
Have this song played
for a time of remembrance
when all have gathered
to pay their respects.

+Catherine McClain interesting! thanks for sharing :)
+Catherine McClain ..."The Unquiet Grave"...................Then I was right to send this to Iraq Army to honor those lost in this war.
Well, you're right. But Eluveitie are using standards of "celtic" music and it's kind of obvious. What does it brings to you is the real question ;)
Spades Mirddin Are you talkin' pan-Celtic or what?
you can call it this way if you want to put an etiquette on it. This kind of music has no nation nor language except the ones you have in mind.
Eluveitie's best song. I'm always close to tears after the end of it.
SANTA! I always knew you were real! Never thought you listened to Eluveitie though.
This is the best song ever and there will never be another song as good as this.. This is a pure masterpiece, so many feelings come to life within me when I hear this... Swiss music rocks!
Every time I listen to this song I travel back in time... such a pleasant journey.
relaxation music does the same to me, but all i could remember were my mistakes :/
you realize how good it was to live among people who also played the music .... you caress the ears and says exactly what you wanted to hear .... how much I wish I lived and I in those days ...

I've played this tune on the fiddle for 30 years as "The Star of the County Down." There are lyrics with the same name. This is a beautiful version.

Someone actually disliked this.. This makes me feel both sad and mad. How can someone dislike such a wonderfull piece of music?
You appear like an expert on this. Do you know if there ar any vocals? Cause I swear I can hear something that resembles a womas voice at some points during the song. But then again this might just be onea the instruments. (From 0.30)
