- Sonic Frontiers is without a doubt the best 3D Sonic game in at least a decade. But while it was a lot of fun, I found it way too easy, especially with how easy it is to cheese the Fishing mechanics to get to Level 99 and steamroll everything. So today we answer the question: can you beat Sonic Frontiers without skill upgrades and all stats at Level 1?

Neither levels nor skills are needed, only Cyloop (You're forced to unlock it) and the first story move can be used.

YO Thank you brother it honestly delayed the vid by like 3 weeks just to get it dialed in 😂 but I think it was worth it
One of my runs was:
1. No level ups
2. No unlockable skills (except Cyloop and story skills)
3. Hard mode
4. No fishing (way to get any item easily)
5. 100%
6. No death from a boss, guardian, obstacle or enemy
Ok
I recommend getting rid of the No unlockable skills condition and add to the 100% condition with completing all the memory token in game platforming challenges
This challenge is really easy. It ain't like unleashed where if you don't level up you're screwed
Yeah this one wasn't too bad, but it made for a fun video and excuse to make those badass montages

I was rewatching this video for the first time in a while, and it gave me a realization… Sega basically added this challenge into the game with Extreme Mode 😭
As a guy whos beat the game with no upgrades it make fights way more fun since i need more variety
Honestly when I play the game from now on I'll probably only level up speed, and buy skills from the skill tree. Leveling up attack, defense and ring count just make the game a breeze lmao

The one thing that bothered me was how easy everything felt when you leveled up, so one of the first things I did when I got Sonic Frontiers was not touching the level system, everything became much more impactful and challenging, and that's what I wanted but even then, it wasn't enough, you can beat sonic frontiers even with the hardest mods without any of the level up, yes, even Hedgehog May Cry. Of course, for those PC mods, you'll need a PC, most of the fun mods are on there, and the closest you'll come to an challenge without it now is on update 3's final horizon, it is possible to beat the final boss without any upgrades there too. But you'll have to play your cards right.
I have two ideas for this comment.

The fact the dude doesn't even give you the choice to level-up or not is a pain in the ass lol
I’m pretty sure leveling up in this game is just a placebo effect. I swear the speed upgrades don’t do anything
It took me until after my 100% playthrough to learn that Max Ring Boost's max speed is the same at Lv1 as it is at 99. Upgrading your speed affects only non-ring boost speed, and air boost speed. All the times I got a massive speed upgrade and tested it out I was being placebo'd.
Damage upgrades are definitely a thing though. At 99 you kill supreme in like 3 combos lol

Fun Fact I Beat Frontiers At Level 1 Power, But Max On Defence, Speed And Rings. Mainly To Increase The Titan Fight Time From Like 30 Secs To 2 Minutes
And Another, I Got Close Beating Giganto Without Grand Slam Tho I Really Only Lost Cause I Overastimated How Much Health He Has So I Would Have Beaten Him, But I Didn't Cyloop Enough Times

Honestly not allowing the skill tree just made it mire annoying but it made the content more interesting lmao
If you think playing hard mode without leveling up is hard? Extreme difficulty will make you want to lose your sanity on how potentially hard it'll be
