Excellent conversation. Both Anand and Nupur are brilliant. But I tend to agree with Nupur and not with Anand on the aspect of apportioning blame. Anand says the govt is to be blamed whereas Nupur insists that Hindus must also accept their share of blame - in fact, more. This is my postulate on Hindus of India: "Hindus constitute 80% of India's population. But Hindu consolidation merely as Hindus is a myth. Out of 80% of Hindus, only 10% are genuine Hindus. Let us call them category A. Out of the balance 70, 35 are visceral Hindu haters consisting of Dravidas, Communists, and Left-liberal Lutyens Khan market cabal. Call them category B. The third segment of 35 are Hindus who cherish their identity but are brought up as Macaulay putras and putris, loathe depicting their identity in public, and feel it would hurt the minorities to feel insecure. Call them category C. Let me give an analogy for the three classes. It is like having three classes of men and their psyche about their mother (culture/identity). Category A is people who worship their mother. They will fight any denigration, misadventure, or insult to their mother and see it as their bounden duty as sons to protect her image. Category B are guys who genuinely believe Mother is someone who deserves and is destined to be molested, raped, insulted in public and on the road. They enjoy it when it happens and howsoever crass the molesters and rapists are, they stand with them and enjoy the denigration of their mother. Category C are those who respect and love their mother in the private confines of their home but being victims of Macaulay's education, feel it is natural that she will be molested raped, and denigrated in public. Even though they sometimes feel sad when the call comes, they touch her feet within the closed doors but take her and hand her over to the marauders like how the Police handed over the Palgarh Sadhus. They overcome their guilt by closing the door doing more poojas and chanting within the sequestered confines of their home. In the secular space of elections etc., category C feels secure going with category B hesitating and sometimes cringing to be seen to be with category A. This explains the situation in Tamil Nadu Kerala Bengal etc where the category B aligned parties be it Communists/Congress, TMC, DMK etc always win. Modi, coming to power, has made huge efforts and improvements in Administration to give security to category C alleviating their concerns to be seen aligning with A. Modi has given comfort and security that BJP values the category C, and to demonstrate that, he criticizes the fringe in category A. This has enabled Category C to feel secure in aligning with Category A in the Hindi heartland and soon many among Category C slowly become A. Of course, he continues to make noises that appeal to category A so they don't revolt against BJP. But category A has no outfit other than BJP to stick with. Places like TN Bengal Kerala etc., have only 5-10% genuine Hindus (A). Whereas, in the Hindi heartland where the BJP's influence over a long time is there it has swelled to as much as 20-25%. BJP must still overwork in administration and delivery; otherwise, the new Hindus will go back to their Macaulay past. This is how the BJP gets 40% of votes in these Hindi belts. Now this phenomenon is yelled and screamed at by the Hindu hating category B as polarization. They, even more, try desperate measures to prop up the minorities and go berserk claiming India is losing democracy, democracy has to be recaptured and prevent it from becoming fascist, blah blah blah. But one thing is certain. Unless and until Hindus start respecting their identities and succeed in preventing its denigration, molestation, and rape and take a public stand of not putting up with nonsense, India will continue to be mediocre. Mediocrity is the nourishment on which category B feeds. They despair when India shows even the slightest sprinkling of excellence and calls anti-people illiberal and Hindu supremacist tendencies. So, in reality, who are the real enemies of India? Never the Muslims and Christians, even though their faith may constrain them. The real enemies of India are the category B Hindus. They need to be decimated, eradicated, and their poison neutralized if India has to have any chance of regaining its lost glory."
