This Gundam truly feels like a natural design evolution over the previous Freedom and Strike Freedom. Really feels modern and refined. The colours are just beautiful. ...and then there's the Mighty Strike Freedom... in all its mustard and pink glory 😅
Of course, even in-universe it’s considered that way. The Strike Freedom itself is still around, and upgrades into the Mighty Strike Freedom, while the Rising Freedom is honestly just an inferior battery powered lite version of Freedom.
Thanks for this review! I got the limited clear version of this kit, and your articulation highlights now give me ideas about how I'll paint the clear parts
i originally really disliked the transformation... until someone pointed out to me that, lore wise, this freedom(and its justice counter part) is actually a highly customized murasame. which is why it can transform.
That's actually not true, in seed lore, there are 3 types of Ms frames: standard, transformable and one for unique systems like mirage coloid. The rising freedom and justice use the standard one and the transformation is only based of the murasame's transformation. In lore the reason for it's transformation is because it's for power saving for long distance travel since they're battery powered. Also the reason it's using a standard frame is because it's meant as a mass production type Ms and that the standard frame was the best for that purpose since the seed world is actually really bad economically due to the back to back wars happening.
I feel like SEED fans, myself included, have been absolutely rewarded for their enjoyment of the timeline between late last year and this year. The flight gimmick on the RF and ImJ is the absolute weakest aspect of what is otherwise two amazing HG kits. I've been looking forward to these coming to the US, and just like the movie I can't wait to actually get to see them in person! Same goes for the future HGCE kits.
Thanks for the great review, and can't wait to work on my own! I've seen some mad japanese modellers on twitter already improving this already fantastic kit: - allow the smaller wing parts to swing inwards, making the overall silhouette less wide when in a standing pose, like the Metal RD version (i'll attempt that!) - torso and leg extensions - face mods to make it sharper and more anime-like can't wait for your eventual immortal justice review :D
I recall the hip mounts on the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice are like the hip joints seen with Innocentia-type Frame Arms Girls, since they have slide-down hips that do not rely on a central pivot joint.
Is it weird that the thing I like most about both new freedom gundams are their shoulders? Also dig the zeta style faceplate and the shield gimmick. Honestly the shield gimmick feels like the only remotely unique thing on the new SEED gundams (even though I’m sure something similar has been done before.)
Seeing a couple reviews of this and Immortal Justice, and honestly they’ve both grown on me more than I thought they would’ve first seeing their design. I’m excited to see what they do for an RG more than anything now, since with how well the movie is doing there’s no way we don’t get an RG line from it. Ok that note, do we think it more likely they would release an RG Rising Freedom or Mighty Strike first?
also the in-universe explanation is the reason the Rising Freedom being a transformable MS is because the Eclipse Gundam is the distant cousin of the original Freedom Gundam sharing the same body frame with minor modifications, though as a mecha design the Rising Freedom's transformation is a downgrade compared to the Eclipse Gundam, lol.
at this point some high grades feels like a mini full mechanics, because they have partial inner frame (more fuctional than mechanical look) and great color separation/articulation.
Indeed. Excluding the wings (or just its white parts), it seems easy enough to paint in the details that used stickers which I will do when I get mine.
@@michaelfuller7635 You'd still need to use some, but if they're colors that are probably easy to paint, then that's better. I'm deciding still whether to add the white on the wings or not since they do look good but without them, it still looks good. Which I might just paint the upper parts of each wing white and leave the bottom half as is
I disagree. While the stickers themselves aren’t the best, the detail is quite nice. The white on the wings looks awesome and while it does make it look a bit more busy, I like how it looks since it breaks up the design a bit more
I feel that suit transformations aren't done enough justice. May take some reconsideration as to end goal or process... But the problem does become ensuring the kits won't suffer for it.
I'm curious if you never get stress marks or parts that got forcefully removed from the runners by dropping the kits like you do at the start of your vids?
I've been thinking about it for a while and altho it was a pretty small thing during BF, but the whole continouos numbering that ties into UC and other series, it's the "line" bandai has been doing the "All gundams project", that's why destiny and Justice wasn't "officially" a revive but more of part of that project line, but still technically a revive kit but not part of the Revive line itself. Little bit of a small thing but just making people remember that small thing Build Fighters and then bandai aimed for back then. Edit:Remembering it now, generally just Kira's suits I guess in the revive line, it was counted still as the project line, but I guess later entries of "revive" versions of kits didn't get their boxes labeled with that, I guess? Weird but again, it's just a small thing, I suppose?
The All gundam project is suppose to be bandai releasing all the lead gundams in various gundam series (not including the spin off) The Revive is just a renewal kit of the existing one, some of the later one like the revive ground gundam doesn't even have the revive label on the box. Since they releasing the another universe kit under the HGUC main line they just call it HGCE instead of revive.
@@fantastiCkiLler92 Ik, that's why Build Serieses were their own thing (along with series like IBO and Gwitch. Probably just within a certain year/series is where they'll add kits to that line but after BF is when series get their own lines, probably?), I just meant during Build Fighters, they advertised the project, that's just what I mean. @@lylestratos6880 BF line is on its own line since the anime is quite many at this point. @@fantastiCkiLler92 You're missing the point of what I was saying. I just said they advertised the all gundams project. Shame the rifle is just covered in blue stickers, especially since its the exact same mold as the one in the immortal justice. If both had the color part as seperste plastic theyd've looked great.
I honestly don’t see how one can build this kit and say it’s coming close to MG. If you said that about the later RGs, you’d be completely justified. But this Rising Freedom? :/
Agreed. I 95% only build mg's but do have hg's and a rg. Yes It's nice for sure but it ain't even close to mg level. Mabey full mechanics at best. 😂 I'm holding out for mg's or full mechanics of the movies main suits. Especially freedom. Like wing gundam and wing zero you gotta have them all. 😊
someone pointed out to me, that the reason this freedom(and its justice counter part) have transformation, is because they are actually custom murasames.
I’m the opposite, I think it’s a step up. Because of the new torso and shoulder joints. Also the new c-clip design that hopefully reduce the c-clip problem. I feel wfm kits are too simplified.
The amount of stickers doesn't mean it is a step back....The engineering of the main kit is way advanced than TWFM line. TWFM kits are very simple in construction and using way too many C joints.
While I generally understand this sentiment, I personally wondering if it is because the difference between the design between much more unique WFM kit and pretty standard CE kit. Still like RF and ImJ more than the later MS from the this movie tho.

Best comparison I’ve seen is that it’s the CE equivalent of the Re-GZ
Because it is actually the OG Freedom just nerfed as they used the parts from it to build Rising

The stickers I can understand beyond the usual are the wings simply due to weight. The amount on the beam rifle is excesive.
Hey, I was in the chat for this one! Looks amazing with the stickers. Well done Aurelius

That tone of blue is really neat.

Loved it, despite the stickers!

The HG Rising Freedom is very sticker heavy. You might as well leave it without them on the wings or use a white gundam marker.
that's the saving grace of this model. it will still look great without most of the stickers.
rising with og freedom's color scheme looks so much better
agreed. im not really a fan of the blue on this kit. and wth its arms, it looks too similar to the wing zero custom.
Plus the white stripes on the wings blend far better on the og freedom’s color scheme
